4821  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Bitcoin Punishment => 8 Hour's To transfer coin from Blockchain... on: April 29, 2017, 06:31:28 PM
If 8 hours is too slow.

There are wire transfers which can take 24-48 hours.

Paypal enjoys banning accounts that have more than $200 in them & robbing people.

4822  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: Best investment in 2017? on: April 28, 2017, 11:56:58 PM
We're only 4 months into 2017.  Smiley

We won't know what the best investments were until december 31st 2017.

Bitcoin did extremely well in 2016. If we're lucky that success will carry over to this year.

Trump winning the election could bode well for coal and hydrocarbon energy industries.

With the stock market at all time highs, Trump being in office could make a lot of things the best investment of 2017.
4823  Economy / Economics / Re: A Federal judge in new York has not recognized bitcoin as money on: April 28, 2017, 11:53:25 PM
New York politics are corrupt. Maybe one of the most corrupt states in america.

It took forever for them to legalize mixed martial arts.

They like to stall on new legislature and sabotage the legal process to milk issues for everything they're worth.
4824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who wants these Bitcoin scaling wars to end? on: April 28, 2017, 11:34:39 PM
Supposedly, 2MB blocks will require each node to process much more data, and each incremental step above that requires an exponentially higher time to compute.

I'm pretty sure if modern technology is able to handle this, it would be a great change to the network. We could nearly double the transaction throughout, reducing the high fees that miners currently require.

With every possible block size, btc transaction speed will never be faster than its DDoS rate of spam.

The network will always be vulnerable to spam transactions.

Adjusting block size won't change that.

Blocks could be 20 GB in size & spammed transactions would still be much faster and difficult to get rid of.
4825  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia Leaving Global Banking System: Dumping US Dollar for Gold on: April 28, 2017, 11:27:53 PM
If USA government collapse dollar Russians will have serious problems. Just check oil/$ index and you will understand what i am talking about

Russia would be better off not holding dollar reserves if the US gov collapses.

It would be interesting to see what happens with billionaires and corporations stockpiling billions in us dollars if the dollar crashes.

Imagine a world where Bill Gates goes to sleep the richest man in the world one day & wakes up not very rich the next.

Do they realize the billions of dollars they're hoarding could be worthless if the gov defaults?
4826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who wants these Bitcoin scaling wars to end? on: April 28, 2017, 10:50:41 PM
Simple 2 step plan to ending scaling controversy.

Step #1: calculate how many (real time) transactions per second a larger blocksize will yield.

Step #2: weigh pros vs cons to decide if larger blocks provide a significant improvement.

I think bitcoin transactions will be extremely slow, even with a larger block size.

Bigger blocks are like obamacare: "promise everything, deliver nothing".

2MB blocks won't make a difference.
4827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Antbleed: A remote shutdown backdoor in antminers on: April 27, 2017, 11:18:19 PM
lol if you know the answer, tell me.
How about you actually do some reading and then research before making useless posts? That's what you should be doing.

I know there's a backdoor. Is it an old backdoor?
It has been in existence for at least half a year (most likely longer).

Is it relevent?
Yes.

There are standard backdoors in everything from hardware routers to iphones(I'm not certain many posting in this thread know that).
False comparison fallacy. That's really not relevant.

Not everyone has time to look at the specifics of the exploit & figure out whether it can be used to gain root access in a way that would allow someone to steal crypto or do some other nefarious deeds.
It can only shut down 70% of the network. Nothing really nefarious. Roll Eyes

Its hard to know who to believe with politics being involved & people saying things that are untrue to push their own self interest agendas.

Much thanks for the response btw!

I wonder if this was deliberately introduced as a way to shutdown bitcoin core miners to make it seem as if bitcoin core developers introduced bugs into their software, like the one which allows BU nodes to be shut down remotely.
4828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Antbleed: A remote shutdown backdoor in antminers on: April 27, 2017, 11:05:55 PM
It's very easy to see what's true. It takes <30 seconds. Stop shit posting for your campaign.

lol if you know the answer, tell me.

4829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Antbleed: A remote shutdown backdoor in antminers on: April 27, 2017, 10:53:01 PM
There's a webpage devoted to this topic..

http://antbleed.com

Its hard to tell what's true or not, but antbleed being associated with antpool which is one of the largest supporters of bitcoin unlimited.

And so maybe its not difficult to see where the politics come into play here, with many attempting to trivialize this due to them not wanting more criticism against BU.
4830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 211: Miocic vs Dos Santos info and Prediction Thread on: April 27, 2017, 10:46:55 PM
I'm also eager to watch  Frankie Edgar vs. Yair Rodriguez.

I'm excited to see that one as well.

I think Yair could pull an upset. A lot of younger names are defeating the older more established fighters in the UFC.

If Frankie Edgar can't get the fight to the ground, I think Yair will beat him.

4831  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia Leaving Global Banking System: Dumping US Dollar for Gold on: April 27, 2017, 10:42:46 PM
I think the united states is the paper tiger.

America spends the most on "defense", but is so far in debt it can't afford war without bankrupting itself.

The idea of russia being weak seems like false propaganda.

Russia is said to have done 4 times more drone strikes against ISIS than the united states was responsible for. Their military technology is very good. Some of it could be better than the united states. They also are more efficient and can wage war at a lower cost than the united states can.

If the united states defaults, russia and china could invade france, the UK, sweden and europe & there would be nothing to stop them.

European countries are being occupied and destroyed by refugees, how would they handle a real army? They disarmed themselves, now they can't protect their homeland.
4832  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia Leaving Global Banking System: Dumping US Dollar for Gold on: April 27, 2017, 10:02:06 PM
If the US gov crashes, the value of the dollar will plummet.

Does anyone think china and russia are dumping the dollar, expecting the $20 trillion in debt US government to crash?

For those saying russia's economy is in bad shape.

Russia isn't $20 trillion in debt.

The united states could be worse off than russia is?

True/false?   Huh
4833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion on: April 26, 2017, 06:35:38 PM
@Hydrogen. Jon Snow and Daenerys are really very closely related. Jon is really the nephew of Daenerys if the flash backs from last season really says that he is the son of Llyana Stark and Rhaegar Targeryan. But I speculate that there might be another twist to the story. Jon could also be the son of Robert Barathreon. We will have to wait for the last 2 seasons to know.

Good point. I didn't think of that. Did Targeryan's practice intermarriage with family members?

I thought about Jon being a son of Robert due to him having the "coal black" hair which seems like a dominant trait of the Baratheon family.

If Jon was Ryaegar's son, he would probably have the platinum blonde hair of Targeryans?

4834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Decentralization Become the Panacea? on: April 26, 2017, 06:26:01 PM
Considering US healthcare is expensive and unaffordable to many due to monopolies in the healthcare industry.

And that much evil in the world is a result of centralized monopolism of government power or other power/resources.

The natural reaction may be to break up those centralized monopolies in favor of a decentralized approach.

4835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who's your bet in nba finals , GSW or Cavs? or what team is your bet? on: April 26, 2017, 06:14:01 PM
I would say GSW.

Mostly because I think Kevin Durant wants to win very badly.

Also GSW made an effort not to peak too early in the season, like they did last year.

Cavs don't do well when LeBron doesn't play. If not for LeBron I don't know if they are good.

GSW has more than 1 good player.

Quote
Russia is one of the more powerful nations in the world.  With the power, however, comes enemies.

One of its enemies has a slight financial hold over Russia, and that power comes in the form of Dollars. The relationship between the east and west is now at a stalemate; Moscow’s reaction to western encroachment and accusations comes from President Vladimir Putin, who has proposed to withdraw the Russian state from the international banking system, moving towards a more traditional gold-based system.

Russia isn’t alone in this. BRICS nations such as Brazil, India, China, and South Africa are all planning their exit from the international banking mafia for more financial independence
.

However, for President Putin, the threat came in the form of the Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication system, or the SWIFT system, which allows easy transfer of money internationally, such as via American express. The problem, however, is the international banks are threatening to bar Russian access from this system if they leave the ‘big club.’

Many economists have informed the world leaders of the consequences facing them if they remove Russia from the SWIFT system. Ewald Nowotny, an economist and a policy maker for the European Central Bank highlighted how if Russia is removed from the SWIFT system international companies conducting business in Russia will be the first to suffer.

However, according to Elvira Nabiullina, a Russian economist and former economic advisor to President Putin and the head of the Central Bank of Russia, if Russia is removed from the Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications then Russia’s banks won’t collapse. She explained how they have devised a new system that will continue operations in the SWIFT format and will work as an alternative for the country.

According to a report published last year, more than three hundred banks in Russia have adopted the SWIFT alternative – the System for Transfer of Financial Messages, or SPFS as the Russians call it.

Furthermore, to enhance the SPFS system, Russia’s Central Bank’s first international branch in Beijing was opened, and the Chinese opened a financial institution in Russia to strengthen the financial relationship between the two nations and the beginnings of the ‘de-dollarization’.

As for the Federal Reserve and other international financial institutions that trade in non-physical currency and futures, and all other riskier practices; are now buying bulk quantities of physical gold – leaving their old practices behind.

According to Mac Slavo who writes for SHTFplan, the NGOs ran by Soros have been questioned and kicked out, along with Rothschild establishments.

“It seems that only all out war will ever settle these power plays for the dominance or death of the U.S. petrodollar, which is ultimately controlled by the same few hands that steer and control the central banks of nearly all the world’s nations,” wrote Mac Slavo. “Only by stealth and monotony have these activities remained in the shadows.”

This parallels russia's recent announcement of them seeking to legalize bitcoin in 2018.

Banks do indeed seem to be losing power & influence worldwide.

Perhaps crypto currencies can gain influence & value as banks decline.

John Snow is the song of ice and fire. He will rule.
Or the drawf... Grin

"A Song of Fire and Ice," is an interesting title.

Daenerys with her dragons and immunity to fire could represent the "Fire" part.

The Night King with his ice zombies who can only exist in cold weather could be the "Ice".

Jon Snow could also be "Ice" as he's from the north which exists closer to perpetual winter.

I still think George RR Martin is angling for a Daenerys xoxo Jon Snow romance.

That's the Fire and Ice.

 Cheesy
4838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We knew the Large Bitcoin Collider was useless, now we know it's also rootkit on: April 25, 2017, 05:23:35 PM
Yes, so they say... and the "hits" might be the computers that were Rootkit'ed and where people's private keys was exploited.  Grin ... I never run

any strange software on the same computer that I use for Bitcoin. I also generate my private keys on a old computer & printer that will never

see the internet again. I will melt it down myself.  Grin

Large Bitcoin Collider being a rootkit makes more sense than it cracking private keys.

LBC is like distributed CPU mining. Even if they had a million people running it, I doubt it would do much with the (relatively) low amount of computational power at its disposal.

4839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Opens the Door to Cryptocurrencies on: April 25, 2017, 05:16:36 PM
This could balance out china's influence on crypto.

It could lead to more stable crypto in the future, and the infusion of cash from japan and russia could also push the value of BTC way up.

Bitcoin Unlimited seems to centralized with chinese miners, if russian and japan miners enter the game, that could make it harder for BU to gain the centralized mining majority they need to fork.

JDS seems to do better when he fights moving backwards. When he comes forward, he starts to have problems like he did when he fought Overeem. No idea how to guess which direction he will fight against Stipe.

After the first JDS vs Stipe fight, JDS admitted that Stipe has a "good punch" and said he felt dizzy after taking some of Stipe's punches.

Stipe could be the only champion in the modern UFC who doesn't train full time and has a job as a firefighter.

Lots of good match ups on this card, I hope it does well in pay per views sales.
