Surely it's bip 148 on August the 1st and then everyone will use that and we will all live happily ever after and Jihan can go buy a huge yacht and piss off. Then again I literally don't know what I am talking about.

That is odd! At least he's ok I guess.

It's very nice of him to tweet that and let us all know. Thank god for Cuban. What a guy.

Thanks for stepping in for Fakhoury Mrsunshine.
It's a shame he's not here anymore though. Just as things get good he disappears.

Meanwhile one year ago: Last chance to buy under 600?
Surely that was 10 years ago right? 1 year? Wow, amazing how we forget.

Looking to trade bitcoins and with the high amount of transactions through the bank i intend to do I have no clue who to open an account with.
The things I know so far...
Lloyds Santander Barclays
Do not like bitcoin.
- a business account in needed.
- fidor uk is a good bank to use but the fast transactions don't exist. If they do I don't think it does for sending money to a different bank i.e. Fidor to lloyds and vice versa.
I don't get it. It'll be a business account with no illegal activity and I'll pay taxes etc. Nothing dodgy going on.
My question is, who here is in the UK using local bitcoins or similar and trades bitcoins? Can a bank account be recommended?
Thanks.
I hope this post is in the right section of bitcointalk. Sorry to admin if it isn't.

Well...just a random thing that just hit me on the head....at the current price of gold is $1,280.30 and as of 2 seconds ago the price of BTC is $2597.00 Well...put a light on my head and paint me like a lighthouse....we are more then TWICE the value of Gold now. Sheesh..it was not that long ago we were just trying to MATCH the price of gold if I remember right (all so fast...all so pump...all so scary) anyway..just thought this should be mentioned thou in hindsight it is as obvious as a brick dropped on your foot Yes searing we are easy to forget the very recent battle to reach gold parity. It's funny how we become used to certain prices so quickly. double gold 1oz price.....amazing.

If you do cash out a significant amount, the problem I see is buying property. AML laws mean solicitors in most Western countries will want to see evidence of source of funds. It is also likely to trigger suspicion, which, at least in the UK, means a SAR (Suspicious Activity Report) being filed with the NCA (National Crime Agency).
Just buy a carwash. Well this is very bad news. I thought the property thing was a good plan.

My best buddy has been talking to me about investing £5k into some company and expects a return of £45k in 5 years. He's telling me his friend has invested £10k and another a further £5k.
I was talking to him in mid 2013 about bitcoin and he didn't give a shit!! He's now telling me about these massive gains etc from this company and it's forecast to do this and that blah blah.
Now I like to diversify but these gains in % sound great but it's nothing compared to what we have gained in bitcoin. I am also worried he hasn't researched enough in to this company (what ever it may be).
He's so excited but I was trying to get him excited about bitcoin 4 years ago and he didn't care.
He's now preaching about these POTENTIAL future gains his other buddy has been telling him about and he's going to get.
I found it very hard to listen to him.
I wish him luck and I am sure he will profit but why he's so keen on this and shot me down in flames years ago is beyond me.
Maybe I am no salesman

Everyone is running around looking for either a) Bitcoin's killer app, or b) the next big cryptocurrency/ICO/dapp/whatever
Funny thing is, though:
Bitcoin IS THE KILLER APP. It's the answer staring everyone in the face.
The debt-fueled fiat banking system is the problem. Bitcoin itself is the solution.
How long before people wake up? Maybe they won't.

I think we might have a weekend dump again like last week. It seems like when the markets are open, the price rises, but at the weekend crazy stuff happens.
I seem to remember the big falls back in February being on Fridays, and last week it was too. If it does happen, I hope it is less crazy than last week!
It propbaby will but surely it's irrelevant. I mean we are back to 2430 5 days later

Interested to see where this goes.

This whole first half of the year has just been the pre-game show.
Just wait until Sept./Oct., then you're gonna really see some crazy shit!
Buy bitcoin and buckle up.
(And for gods sakes, stay away from Altlandia and all that ICO crap, unless you want to lose everything)
Why sept oct Torque? I hope you are right, that would be incredible. Just a feeling. U.S. Debt ceiling will hit the wall then, wouldn't be surprised to see some worldwide market shakeup happen because of it. Also, cracks are starting to show in the Australian and Canadian housing bubbles, China shadow banking bubble, etc. Worldwide markets, banks, and peak debt are tapped out. Things heating up with N. Korea and in the South China sea. So I feel like we're heading for the wall sometime in the Fall, worse case first of next year. After 1st August jitters and UASF BIP 148 is behind us, Bitcoin will shoot up beyond $10,000 in October or November. So what's the deal with the August 1st date then?? $10k would be very pleasant. I struggle to imagine it but then not long ago 2000 seemed madness. I remember celebrating at 500. Now I feel unemotional at each rise.

So how do I get my hands on QRL? Thanks INCA.
|
|
|
I've been holding since $200 per coin, I saw the rise to 1200 and then the drop. Then over the course of time I bought more and hodled.
So yeah, maybe just under 4 years but long enough. I am in the mind of not selling as I have a decent enough business and I'm doing ok. Not rich by any means but ok. Well enough to support my family and live well without being greedy.
My rule is not to sell unless it's a life changing amount. To me $10k, $20k, even $100k is no good.
I guess I'll be hodling for a very long time!!!!
Anyway, that's just me. Maybe it'll rise and then plummet and I will have missed the chance to take a decent profit. Without the magic crystal ball who knows.
Am I mad? Quite possibly. It has been mentioned before or am I just very clever with my investments? Well, that's yet to be proven.
Time will tell.
