I agree with your opinion. Ethereum value was very low at that time. Also, Ethereum hard fork had different reasons and was basically decided by its founder.

I think the future in crypto-coins cannot be forecast so easily. Bitcoin Cash can disappear in a very short period of time, but it could also have a long life and become more valuable than many other altcoins. Let's see what's happening...

Well, I think Bitcoin is special even for anonymity.

On a side, Bitcoin transactions (and thus addresses) are public. We all know it, that everyone can see the transactions on blockchain.info and other similar websites.

But on the other side, addresses are just a bunch of alphanumerical units with no sense. It is impossible to associate an address to an user. So transactions are public and private at the same time!

Also, you can use several measures to keep more privacy (mixers, etc.). But, in general, it is quite good and also there are other cryptocoins which have a higher privacy.

Yes, I read it and I think its meaning is usually misunderstood. The author, in my opinion, wanted to say even the road more traveled can give you high rewards in life. Don't need to be always offbeat

As most of us may know in 2016 there was Ethereum hard fork after the infamous DAO hack. Many of us who invested in Ether and had Ether at the time received the same amount of ETC (the original one) and ETH (the altcoin coming out after the fork).


To receive both coins, all I had to do was to send my Ethers to Poloniex. After that the exchange automatically splitted the coins and I received both ETC and ETH. Then I withdrew them to my ether wallet.
It took no longer than 1 hour for the whole process. It was fast, clean, painless, easy and cheap.

Note that I sent the coins to Poloniex after the fork. (On a side note, I'd like to say I started using POloniex that time).


Now we know that a fork is gonna happen on August 1st for Bitcoin too. Many of us are pretty sure that Bitcoin Cash (the forked altcoin) is not gonna have a high value and will eventually have a short life. But that's actually free money, so why not claim it? But how?


There are already many guides around and most of them say the easiest way is to use exchanges (like bittrex or kraken), in a similar way we did for Ethereum. Then the exchange will split the coins on its own and we will just have to withdraw to our wallet(s).
But that's a big difference between this method and the one I used for Ethereum.

For the Ethereum fork, we sent the money to Poloniex after the fork. The guides I found for the Bitcoin fork suggest to send money to exchanges before the fork. I don't know if I'm missing something... If not, why the method many of us used for the Ethereum fork cannot be applied for the Bitcoin one as well?

1. Bittrex is not a wallet, it is an exchange.
2. We already said many times it is very risky to keep your Bitcoins on exchanges when the fork will happen. Actually, it is ALWAYS risky to store large amounts of Bitcoins on exchanges, not only around a fork.

I don't see what's the problem about that. ICOs will continue regardless what the says or does.

Yes and no. It is decentralized in the sense that there's no dictator, no single unit that controls it and - in theory - anyone can mine and earn Bitcoin trough this. But it's also true that, as years went by, mining power concentrate only in few hands. So I think the whole Bitcoin ecosystem is decentralized, but mining is centralized stuff.

Yes, I also moved funds from it and everything went fine. Better to stop using it though, because if it's not updated it can cause problems... also be careful to not receive further funds on your multibit address anymore...

No one, of course! Not even bitstamp which has a so high rating. Better to keep money on exchanges just for short-term trading and then withdraw all the money to our personal wallets.

Well, I'm certainly not a sort of "gay-pride advocate" but at the same time I have nothing against them and their choices. If they don't harm anyone and don't annoy anyone, why worry? Why be against their marriages?

Too bad Jim Burton abandoned this project. It was a really good wallet when he was the captain of the ship, both with Classic and with first version of HD... Since he sold Multibit to keepkey the wallet has gone worse and worse. We gotta move all the funds to different wallets and be careful to not receive payments to multibit addresses anymore.

They are both bad payment gataways.
Anyway, among the two, I'd say paypal is a little bit better because it is less expensive and it is more accepted on online stores...

Yes, it is true. Facebook is much bigger than Friendster and MySpace and this is the reason it is quite unlikely it will go out of date in short period of time. What's sure is that anything could happen. On the Internet anything could change at a very fast rate and, just like MSN, any website or app could go unfashionable.

Facebook, the social medium, can disappear just the same way. But Facebook is much more that its website. It is a C-Corporation which has INstagram, WHats App and many other businesses...
