521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKingdom Uncensored on: June 21, 2017, 03:15:17 AM
I ask the CKG holders to consider having a vote on my plan below:

- revalue 'M' down to 1Billion
- change the name to 'CK dollars'
- take a snapshot of balances
- create the blockchain genesis block
- destroy old markka balances
- setup interface between CK and blockchain
- open deposits/withdrawals back into CK for 'CK dollars'
- list 'CK dollars' on a regular exchange

If the vote was successful, then I would try and raise a bounty from donations (suggest a small tax on all M balances), but as this is a major structural change to the game, it can't be done independently by way of a private bounty, like HMC's CKG/blockchain proposal.

I'm not looking for an argument, more trying to offer suggestions for a constructive debate on how to save CK. If' it's possible, have a vote.
522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKingdom Uncensored on: June 21, 2017, 02:35:54 AM

BUT you wouldn't see the money supply get jacked up or down based on exchange demand.

Money supply is fixed, and unless risto does another revaluation it would presumably stay that way. What you're alluding to is possible liquidity implications if players moved 'money' around in large volumes at the same time which changed the relative proportions of the components of the FIXED money supply. I actually see that as a good thing, it's more realistic, and it adds opportunities for better risk:reward game play.

I don't want my game money volatile, the same way I don't want my cash or debit card going wonky (have you ever been paid a wage in crypto--it sucks having to wait for the market to rebound so you can pay rent)--nations crumble with this economic model--so better to have volatility in assets than in the money supply. There's a reason no one would base an economy on Microsoft shares.

And if risto came back, after paying his debts (of course), yes, he would likely start playing with the money supply and ruining the exchange asset the same way he did last time one was created based on the ck asset.

You're free to disagree, but I have heard these arguments before and created the bounty based on what I believe is best for the game. Namely, a way to protect gold from an army just ripping it out of your hands like I just did to risto.

The money supply is FIXED, any volatility would be in asset prices like CKG, real estate, and commodities like CAN, food, wine, and that's how real life works, and that presents opportunities for trading, and risk:reward.

Getting paid in crypto is a bad example because the problem you're referring too happens because you earn in one currency and spend in another. If you put M on the blockchain you earn in M and spend in M, just like most people now earn in fiat and spend in fiat. My national fiat currency has lost 25% of value in the last 3 years against the USD, but nobody notices because a loaf of bread and carton of milk is the same price in our local fiat currency, so who cares that a loaf of bread in USD is more expensive (i.e I don't have to buy more expensive USD to buy bread, I pay in my local currency), we don't use USD.

If the currency of CK is M, there will be no volatility in the Game currency itself, only 'liquidity' changes, and that's GOOD lol

The game needs a working on/off ramp more than anything else, and putting M on the blockchain instantly solves that, and if you think logically about the consequences there is a one-off change that alters liquidity (i.e. 100% of M is not in cash only, some will be on exchanges, some on the blockchain), then it settles down, and subsequent volatility in prices of assets/commodities due to liquidity changes becomes part of the ecosystem that attracts players.

But, as you rightly point out it's the CKG holders who should decide what to do from here to save the game.

Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.

Ok, understood. What I outlined is a major restructure, so couldn't be done unless the gold holders voted on it, so a bounty isn't possible unless CKG holders voted in favour first.

20,000 CKG Bounty

--20,000 CKG to create and manage a CKG asset and get that asset listed on a reputable exchange.

Why not use 'M' instead of CKG, that way all problems with deposit shares and depositories would be done away with, players deposit/withdrawal through the reputable exchange.

Because: "Golden Rule"

You are more than welcome to make a bounty for M as a exchange asset--though I have a few arguments as to why that is a bad idea. Namely when there is a huge run to the exchange and prices spiral downward due to deflation. All the sudden the house you spent 10mil on is worth 100,000. The reverse could also happen as fast, because you are increasing the volatility by adding money supply changes into the game mechanics.

What's the relevance of the 'Golden Rule'  , "treat others as you would have them treat you" ... I don't understand that reference?

If you put M on a blockchain there would be a one-time movement of money out of the CK DB into the exchange(s), then you'd have a setup where:

money supply = cash + exchange deposits

and that would still be fixed, so I don't think the valuation effects you anticipate would happen, the ratio of 'cash' to 'exchange deposits' would settle down eventually, as it does for most other traded crypto tokens.

Looks like there is trouble finding someone to escrow depository deposits now, and putting 'M' on a blockchain would solve that, and it wouldn't slow down CK Agora trading, so user experience would feel the same as using a regular exchange - make a 'slow' deposit, trade as fast as the trading engine can handle, make a slow withdrawal.

If you put CKG on a blockchain, you've got dividend problem to deal with, and you haven't solved the lack of entry/exit ramps problem.

edit: I would:
- revalue 'M' down to 1Billion
- change the name to 'CK dollars'
- take a snapshot of balances
- create the blockchain genesis block
- destroy old markka balances
- setup interface between CK and blockchain
- open deposits/withdrawals back into CK for 'CK dollars'
- list 'CK dollars' on a regular exchange

edit 2: if you used NXT monetary system for the blockchain solution you do away with anyone needing to run blockchain software, players just use a NXT wallet for cold storage if they want, but that would be optional. Most would use CK + exchange, some would use CK only, speculators would use exchange and/or NXT cold storage -- lots of flexibility, and many exchanges already list loads of NXT MS tokens, so getting listed on exchanges would be trivial.

edit 3: if you did the above CK money supply would become:

money supply = cash in CK + exchange deposits + blockchain balances

and money supply is fixed, and relative proportions between the three would settle down, and to the extent that they would change ... well, that would mimic the 'real world' and adds to the 'fun', volatility between CK cash/exchange deposits/blockchain balances adds realism, and opportunities for the bold & brave etc etc

Masternode addition is good idea, but keep inflation at 2%, it's a great selling point.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUP][ICO] SuperDAO Project - Pokereum Decentralized Poker & Dappsery DAPP on: June 16, 2017, 11:53:04 AM
If these guys release a decentralised poker app that actually works, and they also have the DAO structure in place to govern things when they launch, then SuperDAO valuation would merit billion dollar marketcap. Communication could be better, but look at IOTA, those guys were in stealth mode for two years, and then they launch fully formed with 1.6 billion marketcap just this week.

These guys might pull this off still.

+1
When the beta is released the wait will have been worth it.

The surge in ETH increased their dev funds considerably, so my guess is they decided to use the extra funds to improve the poker client, which might make all the difference to the end product. We're all in a different game now with startups,  the old VC model has been blown out of the water, token sales free up devs to call the shots themselves now, they don't need to meet arbitrary targets and deadlines to keep VC's happy anymore, so let's assume the delays are conscious decisions made by cashed up devs for good reasons. New territory, new paradigm.

@Zechariah, repent and turn back to the light, before it's too late. You're in the wrong, but you still have time to undo the mess you created, but not for long.
530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKingdom Uncensored on: June 16, 2017, 11:27:19 AM
Declaration of War

In retaliation to his efforts and threats to undermine CryptoKingdom, Zechariah must submit to the unconditional surrender of all his troops and possesions or meet the Kingdom's Forces on the field of Battle.

All nobles are urged to assemble forces, move them into position around Zech's Estate and prepare to attack on command--payment for armed services will be compensated from Zechariah's holdings once surrender or victory are achieved.

As per rules: M, Deposhares and land will not be touched as part as the spoils of war--though any stone recovered from Zechariah's land will be used to help build a highway system to improve commerce.

We prefer that Zechariah act in accordance with his own wishes and leave The Kingdom under the peaceful flag of surerender, but will use all available force to secure a long overdue emancipation.

His crimes against the community in the form scams, bludgeoning citizens over the head with demands of serville feality, and overall obnoxiousness in the form of unceasing posts of taunting to pure giberish, have stalled us at the proverbial fork in the road. And as a wise man once said, "When you come to a fork in the road--take it!"

Non-response (or intentional ambiguity) by Zechariah will be deemed as abandonment and treated as a surrender in effect.

HMC_

Good decision, Zechariah is a gangrenous limb on the CK body now,  time to cut him off and save what's left!
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKingdom Uncensored on: May 24, 2017, 02:17:17 AM

I don't want to rule anything out at this stage, but my main goal with Gringotts is to support reliable and trustworthy on/off ramps for other crypto currencies into and out of CK, and I want the option of market making for a number of coins, maybe from more than one depository, so my first priority will be ensuring sufficient M to cover that without too much risk of falling short. If things go well, and there is enough M to market make for other in-game items then that is something I would consider doing, and if the official Game depo opens up again then the liklihood of having the resources is a lot greater. Other players may choose to MM for particular in-game items, and I don't want to crowd other players out from those opportunities.

It's good to be cautious, but with +425 bil markka you've probably got enough to cover multiple depo currencies and a few key game commodities like CAN and HM02B100 now. The real sticking point is Zechariah - will he honour his debts, what happens to his game account, will he return as GM ?

532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: May 22, 2017, 02:48:00 AM
Airdrop is a bad idea since there's no way to prevent people from claiming multiple slots while maintaining anonymity. Best idea is to make distribution part of the protocol to reward those who support the network by running nodes and other sky services. How this could be implemented as an automatic part of the protocol is what we should be discussing. Ultimately its up to skycoin dev and I trust they will make a fair decision.

Yeah, I think that's the best approach.

Issue is how long it takes to complete the full distribution, as long as the dev has bulk of the coins most investors will look elsewhere. After all these years the main issue is 'when', not 'how', the window for Skycoin to make top 20 is smaller than some here may wish to think about. Good tech dies on the grapevine sometimes, could be the fate of Skycoin if the distro isn't completed asap.

Congratulations to goin2mars, and the Gold Ring auction winners!

Thank you for supporting Gringotts fund raising!!

Gringotts update:
Fund raising for Gringotts is going very well, further auctions will continue weekly.

The manager position for Gringotts is still vacant. To interest the best possible candidates, it is best to wait for complete resolution of the b1 situation first, and to know whether the official depository will re-open before proceeding further.

As mentioned previously, my preference is to have the manager make all operational decisions themselves, they will run their own shop, and thus, they will keep all withdrawal fees.

My return will come from market making only.

Will Gringotts be trading other items as well, or just deposit shares?

I've always thought having the main market maker account controlled by the GM, who is also the largest CK whale was a bad look. If Karl Hungus sells off his characters and takes over as the game liquidity provider for the most heavily traded items it would remove the previous 'perception' of possible conflict of interest, and that's got to be good for the Game.

DEPOSITORY ANNOUNCEMENT

Is the depository genie out of the bottle now .... @ChrisPop, who's approval do you need to setup your depo?

afaik the senior admins are meeting this weekend, probably safe to assume they will be discussing everything depo related.

You can use RarePepeWallet.com to setup your own wallet and see all the cards. You can also check out what other people have in their wallet.

PEPECASH and the RARE PEPE cards are counterparty assets backed by the Bitcoin Blockchain. This is what allows them to not be copied and keeps them rare. Say a Rare Pepe card has an issuance of 100 total cards created. That number will never be increased. If 100 people each own 1 of those cards, another person can't obtain the card without one of the 100 current holders selling it. Each card is associated to a token that is traded between people.

Yes, I guess you can just go copy the .jpg image and save it to your computer, but it's not the same thing. That is a very childish thought. That's like saying I can go print a copy of the Mona Lisa on a piece of canvas and say that I own the Mona Lisa... it's not real or authentic, it's just a fake copy that's not worth anything and can be proven to be fake. The token/asset behind the card/art is what gives it it's value and authenticity. If you hold the asset, then you hold the value.

Ownership might be needed for playing a pepe game, although doing a game on a blockchain would be really slow, but for digital products you own it if you have a copy on your hard drive. There's only one Mona Lisa oil painting, and it can't be copied exactly, but for digital files they can be. The pepe images are fantastic, but I don't have to own them to have a perfect copy. Enforcing digital scarcity is impossible, so unless havng the blockchain pepe asset has value itself, the pepe images are essentially free, like movies and music on a torrent site.

Who owns the copyright on the pepe images, the card creator, or the card owners? Copyright is enforceable,  just difficult to police for personal use.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [PEPECASH] 🐸 Pepecash / RarePepe 🦄 Spepeculation Topic on: March 31, 2017, 01:14:17 PM

I do like some of your pepe cards, I'm taking copies for my own collection, you can't really prevent people making exact copies of your digital assets, that's a big impediment to digital items becoming collectibles. You can't prevent me enjoying your digital property anymore than Hollywood can, my pepe cards look exactly the same as your ones do! I don't need to 'own' them to enjoy them just as much as you do, so why would I ever buy them from you ?

Is there a block explorer for these pepe cards, can I check a wallet address and see all the images in that wallet? By definition anything digital can be copied, so how are they rare exactly?

how can you check the balance on a siacoin address?

any ideas?

block explorer looks like it only lets you search transactions, not addresses ....

Currently, balances can't be checked.

Presumably the block explorer will one day be updated to allow this but it's evidently not a priority atm.

wow, not being able to check balance for an address ... that's a pain, hopefully devs can make this feature a priority.

What? a priority? Why? I don't care about how much other people have in their wallets...that 'priority feature' offers no value to the coin's purpose. If I want to know my own balance, I'll just check my wallet.

Devs, do what you have to do you're all doing a great job!  Wink

If you own siafunds in a cold storage wallet there's no way to check how much you're earning from the 3.9% fees, so it's a feature I'm looking forward to, when devs have time
