521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XCH] ★ ClearingHouse - Freedom by Blockchain ★ on: February 19, 2015, 04:17:19 PM
drak,

Is there any way for XCH to have simple wallet like most of the other coins?

Do you mean a QT wallet instead of the web wallet?
522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] DarkNote. Anonymous 100% PoW CPU+Untraceable Crypto Messages+GUI Client! on: February 19, 2015, 04:16:16 PM
The daemon darknoted.exe file is within simplewallet?

If it's this file it cannot sync as well.

I downloaded the blockchain and put it inside the same folder.

darnoted.exe is no different than any normal QT. A normal coin QT does what the darknoted.exe does, but in the background where you cant see.

Consider the darknoted.exe and Darknote GUI together as a normal QT.

With that said, the blockchain is stored in the same place as other QTs

For Darknote it is in C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\ducknote
(make sure you have show hidden folder option on)

Run your darknoted.exe and wait till it says you are now fully synchronized with the network.

The open your GUI wallet and under connections select disconnect and then pick the Local option (make sure you have darknoted running though)

The above is very complicated. I cannot do it.

Don't give up before you even try. They are very good directions that anyone who gives it a shot should find it.

Dear Shadowcoin community,

We found one of your little children wandering around in our Darkcoin forums,
asking question after question after question about Darkcoin, Darksend and InstantX.
We gave him answers but it soon became clear his little child mind just couldnt handle it,
its was just not mature enough to cope with all the info.

So we decided to bring child_harold back to you guys, figuring you were all worried sick about his absence. I suggest you
all put him in a corner somewhere for at least a few hours and when he start crying pls just ignore him.

To child_harold :

Pls listen to these nice people in this forum and behave yourself then maybe, just maybe they will let you visit us again in a
few years when you grown more mature.

edit : oh, and pls stop making these fake accounts pretending yr not child_harold .. we grown-ups see right through that

best regards,

qwizzie

525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Security Fork 2/13/15 - Most PoS Coins Vulnerable!!!! on: February 17, 2015, 03:56:01 PM
Yesterday I sent 73k+ HYP to Poloniex and it still has not shown up there. I asked on Poloniex and they told me make sure I was using the newest wallet (I am v1.1.0.1) and check the blockchain and transaction. At the time my wallet was telling me the transaction was in block 239010 and the most recent block on hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.com was about 23880, so I decided to wait to see if when it got to 239010 then maybe Poloniex's wallets would sync and the transaction would show up, but nope.

Also if I search for my TXID on hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.com it says it is not found.

What do I need to do? Is my HYP gone?

And now my wallet won't sync, it says there is 5 connections to network but is sitting at 112 blocks behind.

I have made backups and downloaded the bootstrap and have started resyncing, hopefully that helps something.

Block hash for 239010 on the correct fork is: 778feb8d0f66f5c5bceee85ac198f842f921c16535856db51ec449bc501e1973
It looks like your wallet is on the wrong fork. Your hash for block 239010 is different.

So we know you're not on the correct blockchain by that. I'm not sure if your HYP is lost or not. Hopefully not. I wonder if Polo has the old blockchain backed up before the fork where they could run it on a system and collect your 73K HYP on that end and simply return it to you. I'd check all of that before you upgrade. See presstab's response below.

Then you should upgrade to at least v1.1, sync up, double check you're on the right chain by going to the console and typing
Code:
getblockhash 239010
Verify with an explorer and then resend to Polo.

They claim it was stolen from their cold wallet.

Clearly not cold enough.

There is no excusing the fact that they either lost or stole the coins, but a wallet can't ever be completely cold unless you burn the coins. They're there for a reason.

This is pure speculation but seeing that it's their cold wallet and not their hot wallet I suspect foul play from the inside versus what is being portrayed as foul play from the outside.

getblock hash 235999

04:14:50

Error: value is type int, expected bool

how to know if is running ok?
any tip?

ok i find integrated block explorer
at 235999 giveme this hash e165587140a5965f94cda6869abed770981207a946b4f2de17c8a053747a352e

what to do? with this repair??
Block Chain Bootstrap
Through block 235,000 - https://www.dropbox.com/s/d1zva60jizzoe3y/bootstrap.zip
Usage: extract bootstrap.dat into data directory (for Windows go to "run" and type in %appdata% and find HyperStake folder), remove blkindex.dat and blk0001.dat if they exist already and use the following from command line to start the bootstrap: HyperStake-qt.exe -loadblock=bootstrap.dat
Bootstrapping may take an hour or two depending on the machine, please be patient, the bootstrap happens from the splashscreen, and clicking on it while bootstrapping may cause it to quit.

Use:  getblockhash 235999

no space between getblock & hash

you also have to type that in. don't copy and paste from the forum post. Else you'll get the "Error: value is type int, expected bool" message.
529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | MultiSend | liteStake | Stake Modes on: February 12, 2015, 08:19:05 PM
Are any HyperStake assets and divident distribution system?
Yes, just by staking, you receive a very large dividend.
For every 10K HYP you buy, you receive 10% every 12 days on average

(I make it very simple, guy, don't shout at me)

I mean a little different thing. Assets that earn money change it to HyperStake and distribute it to HyperStake's asset shareholders.
If there are no such assets I think it should to be issued. Because it can stabilise price HS.

To much technical ideas here (it is not bad) but practically isn't financial ones.
Looks interesting, tell us more. You may be exactly why we need, a financial guy Smiley

I had thought about creating a HYP ETF in the ClearingHouse platform a while ago. The values are both roughly 200 satoshi per and with the XCH platform you can issue dividends. It seemed like a cool way to get folks earning staking rewards by owning tokens of the ETF, instead of running a node.

Unfortunately issuing dividends is blocked in my country with XCH and I haven't revisited it with XCP or XDP.

No way to do it, as far as I can tell. If you allow wallets to downvote that is just going to result in downvote wars with multiple wallets between competitors. If the market gets dirty enough that will encourage others to create a cleaner substitute.

One thing that will help is categorization. If someone is selling drugs or CP they would have to put it in the applicable section for drugs or CP if they want anyone to find it. A person who doesn't want to see that doesn't have to open that section.

But what seems like it would be more of a problem to me is spam and abuse of such a system. What's to stop some dark soul from just jamming up the system with thousands of nonsense listings? They might want to require a small fee for each listing to be distributed among the stakers like the other fees.

I concur. I bet they are coding it this way. Fees to list should be mandatory with rewards going to stakers. Similar to Shadow transaction fees being 100x SDC transaction fees (all going to stakers).

Other fees up for debate would be fees on sales and fees on escrow. I could go either way with overdoing it with fees but the reality is that it's a decentralized platform, one central party isn't getting fat and happy off fees alone. They would encourage stakers to be nodes and strength the network.

Let's recap:

1. http://www.coindesk.com/lead-developers-leave-overstocks-medici-project/
2. Selling begins

Now form ur own opinion Wink

So they seem to have left on good terms and even had a hand in picking their replacements

Quote
Bagley indicated that the remainder of the Medici team is still in place, with new replacements hired by Dermody and Wagner taking over as the lead developers.

What's the panic then? Well, whatever, I added some more XCP to my stash thanks to this dump. Seems irrational.

Same. Judging from chat in Poloniex most people don't even know what half of these currencies do and just sell when others do.

My kind of lemmings  Wink

Here is an interesting video presentation about OpenBazaar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRp8GevQRY0

I think its a cool project.  I thought its interesting as they will be the main competitors to ShadyBay/ShadowBay and they offer interesting insight into how to solve some of the problems of a decentralized marketplace.  In the end Shadow may have a competitive advantage because of the extra privacy and anonymity it offers buyers and sellers, but Shadow also has to compete against Bitcoin's network effect.

Also wondering if Sbay will have multi-signature involved at some point.  That seems like an important piece of the puzzle.

OpenBazaar is a very interesting project indeed!

One thing the team (working on Shadow Market) may need to consider as they prepare to release this to the public is how much liability they want to take on by hosting the decentralized marketplace. Being the operator of a point of sale destination that potentially has illegal paraphernalia being sold on it now has a legal precedence in the eyes of at least one government. https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/ross-ulbricht-convicted-running-silk-road/

Also, I assume they are implementing a multi-sig / trustless escrow system.

Really good points,   I actually think this is really different though...  Being that SDC devs are not really hosting anything.  They are just writing code that we the public are using how we see fit.  There is no 'centralized' hosting of SDC or Shadybay (terrible name)  The SDC team literally has no control over how the network operates nor do they physically supply the network with a hardwired location as far as I can tell.   The other market places had been very much traditional models of "I have a web hosting account and I am going to write this market place, then host it and collect fees".   I think this is really different.  I'm really excited for all the legitimate uses of a amazing decentralized marketplace.   I have no use for illicit goods or services. However I could sell computer hardware and sports bottles.

Yes, you are correct, they aren't "hosting" anything. They only are creating it as part of the p2p client. So the fault of illegal activites will rest on the vendor not the platform. Same as saying the guys who created TOR aren't responsible for trafficking like Mr. Ulbricht was.

It's worth noting that ~65,000 coins represents 1% of total coins. Having a number of wallets on an exchange with similar amounts means that price can easily be manipulated by even just 1 or 2 of those traders. Imo price should be closer to $1 per coin with the type of tech Shadow represents. But clearly distribution is still being stifled by large active traders. Hence the crazy low ATH we've hit twice and the sideways trend the coin has seen for the majority of it's short life.

I'm not sure I've seen such a long accumulation phase with such a disruptive coin in all my years of trading crypto. I'll take this slow and steady cycle over crazy peaks and valleys any day. This project will be the prize of many collector's holdings soon enough.

Not really a point cause every cryptocurrency has infinite decimals.

Let's play a game:
#1 Guess which number is bigger!

A. 5,084,962
B. 6,458,360

#2 Guess which number is bigger!

A. 5,084,962.00000000
B. 6,458,360

#3 Guess which number is bigger!

A. 5,084,962.0000000000000000000000000000000000
B. 6,458,360.0000

This coin will be bigger then Darkcoin, why do you think the wanted a merged.
The Tech is superiour to Darkcoin, even with full proof anon transaction, the price didn't jump (which was very suprising to say atleast)

people are now starting to notice this coin, so by end of this year we will be ahead of Darkcoin:)

OK not so fast! You can't compare the price of a coin with active mining and more coins available to a PoS coin with 6 million available.

For SDC to become what's in my vision, it would need a market cap in the tens of billions of USD. This would make the price of the coin in the thousands of dollars, not "satoshis."

The reason why BTC is here to stay and other similar alts with slightly better tech have not been able to catch up is that BTC was available and widely accepted before any alts appeared. For SDC to achieve that value it needs to gain similar acceptance in the dark community before another zk coin appears (which it surely will) and is able to catch up.

I agree not to get carried away. Some people just get more excited than others sometimes.

However, you can compare prices of PoW coins and PoS coins. Active mining and Active staking are both viable blockchain stablilizers. And Shadow actually has more coins than Darkcoin. Add in 2000 masternodes with 1000 a piece in them that can't move and there are close to 2x more SDC "available" than DRK. Great news for Shadow!
