I sell ecigs at a local market, I have a bitcoin sign, and a woman walking past said "Don't accept bitcoin its not real money" I responded, I used to sell these for 3 BTC each all the time ($45) and sold them for $1000 each coin. She just looked at me, then walked away.
lol.

You do realize the guy is richer than all of the BCT forum members put together since he holds one million Bitcoins, right? The guy can probably buy an island somewhere where he can be a recluse all he wants.
I still don't see why some people continue to call for BCT members to help Satoshi out. Are they not taking into consideration just how much his one million Bitcoins are worth?
You do realize that if Satoshi touches his stash it will crash the market? No it wont.. Why would it crash the market? So what you're saying is because the guy who designed btc, has btc, if he spends said btc, btc will crash? Panic, and a 1M btc dump would obliterate the market in an instant. Might not even have to dump anything for a mass panic. Just a single Satoshi moving from that wallet will send a shockwave out. If you guys had not noticed our market is kinda prone to mass hysterical panic dumps The only thing it would do would confirm he is still involved in bitcoin. And everyone would give him a congrats.. I'm sure in due time he will spend them. I'm doubting he didn't do anything with any of his coins, maybe he is already slowly cashing out other wallets? He may not need to dab into the main wallets that everyone knows about. Maybe he is smart enough to know the wallets can be traced and 10 years down the road it will be safer for him to cash those.

Why would he care to do any of this?

The big argument of without god, how did life just poof out of no where.
Here is my counter offer, if god has always been and always will be, why cant life always have been and always will be?
People look at evolution like pokemon, one day we became what we are today, just evolved, no process. That's not how it works, every time a baby is born, they're different, do this for millions of years, things change.
One day you realize bringing your food back to store is better, 1 million years later, you find out living in a cave is safer, 3 million years later food is scarce and you have to follow it, now you're nomadic, now you need to learn to move around a lot, and walk, and run.

That's a lot of coins, I've seen these threads before, about btc-e.
|
|
|
I'm sure all of those coins could be coded out of circulation, but the point of bitcoin is this exact thing. Non reversible there are many red flags, and warning signs everywhere about bitcoin safety, and infancy.

I was expecting btc to cross 600$ mark after weekend and guess what it did now i'm expecting it to cross 650$ mark by the end of this week or maybe on next Monday lets see.!

To me this looks like a wave of new accounts spreading fud about BTC-E to cause a further price drop.
(edit: it's only two accounts atm but I expected more to come)
BTC-E suspended my brothers account, ok yeah he may have been trolling the chat, and admin. But they kept ~40 LTC. After numerous support tickets, they reply in the morning, and if he doesn't respond fast enough, they close the ticket. It's not all fud, suspending an account, fine, keeping all the LTC is theft.

I still baffles my mind how people in their right mind would dare to store that much on an exchange.. The first thing I learned in bitcoin after 30 minutes of researching was to store your own coins offline.
To store them online just wasn't enough, I mean if you just insisted to store your coins online, you could choose bitstamp/blockchain, even btc-e.. But an exchange with $5m seized by DHS, $50m class action lawsuit AND 22 months withdrawal time..
How is that not screaming red flags?
People are stupid.
You have to think they were not all just storing their coins, they were buying low, selling high, rinse and repeat.

Considering all the other exchanges "crashed" to about $500-600 levels, I'd say that is a sign of the strength of BTC. But I dont think 800k coins being stolen is raising demand. They will eventually make their way back into circulation, unless you think the thieves were stealing them to specifically take them out of circulation.
Not to take them out, but that much money you would not want to spend them for a while, a lot of moving around would be smart. 480 million, spending 5 million spinning and hiding its trace would be smart.
|
|
|
Well you have to think 800k coins were stolen meaning demand just went up, and the coins keeping the prices where they are are still on those exchanges.
