There is no voting, this isn't a democracy. Banning someone from a private website isn't censorship, that's ridiculous and shows you don't truly understand what censorship and freedom of speech mean. It's a privately owned forum, and theymos is exercising his right as property owner/administrator to manage as he sees fit. If you disagree, you are free to leave. You are not free to try and take the property owner's rights away on a whim just because you disagree with something he did. Property they own and have every right to control. There is no difference between kicking a hunter off your land and kicking a person off a forum. Both involve lawfully controlling one's property. You don't need a freedom of Speech from other citizens you know why?
1) Other citizens don't have a monopoly on violence. Other citizens can't under the law use force to silence your speech.
2) Sure maybe you can't speak on this forum without rules (much like you can't hunt on anyone's private property without permission) but until bitcointalk.org becomes the sole mechanism of speech for the human race you have other options. TL/DR: I hate "rights" hypocrits. I bet even now you fail to see that your demands of freedom of speech are a violation of the rights of others ... the rights of property owners to be free in the ownership of what is theirs. Neat, volts don't matter though, you can have 10 billion volts and it wont shock you any more than 650k.
Amperage is what you need to look at. Even a small amount of volts can kill you if the amps are high enough. Actually, P=V*A, so you need both amperage and voltage to kill. A high voltage is preferred over high amperage because resistance increases with amperage. Voltage also allows the current to better transfer high resistance materials like skin. You only need something like .7 amps to kill, volts don't matter you can have 101010101010101001010101010101010101010 volts and get the same shock. |

Well, the forum policy since a long time ago was to ban trolls (as they impede the speech of others), and tag scammers.
As far as I can tell, banning MNW seems to be a consistent case of enforcing the forum rules. Period. But, and I think I stated that on several occasions, I do have a lot of respect for Matthew and it makes me somewhat sad to no longer have him around. I guess the right thing to do here would be to lift the ban as soon as the moderators find that appropriate. Oh, sorry I misunderstood, I see now how trolling could be so much worse than someone stealing hundreds even thousands of dollars worth of items, money, and bitcoin.

I recently applied to Adsense but I've heard that due to the nature of Bitcoin traffic(Tor,Proxies) they can ban you for suspicious traffic. I don't want that kind of head ache. I also prefer the idea of working with a Bitcoin businesses that are looking to expand. what i read on a different forum was that he got scammed by one of his own users and his own community donated to get him back out of the red and continuing the site operation. I think when your own community trusts you enough to donate to you to keep your site going, it speaks volumes about the person running it.
the owner said he was trying to restructure the site for more security and features, but I'm not a dice roller so that's about the extent of what i know about that site.
He didn't get scammed, he just chose to do what some consider the right thing. Someone won a shit load of BTC, and the owner manually withdrew something like 1300 btc and forgot to zero out the persons balance. That person kept playing with the balance still there, lost it all, and the 1300 loss if it was real coins should have gone to the investors of the site, since it was not baked up by coins, and the investors were anticipating having a 1300 profit, he took his own coin and made up the difference. -- And to the OP, yes its a legit site. |
