721  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Top Secret Court Order Leaked: Telecos ordered to give NSA ALL phone records on: June 07, 2013, 08:44:15 PM
They're only logging the time of the call, and the time it ended, not the audio.

Who cares, the searching for bomb on google, and saying bomb on the phone doesn't trigger anything so its assumed to be safe to talk on the phone.
722  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL is shipping on: June 05, 2013, 08:33:16 PM

Also, anyone see how BFL is shipping their chips? Only in batches of 100. I think they should finish the order queue first before shipping other damn chips.
The chips are not shipping for over 3 months, I doubt any wafers for them have even been ordered yet as BFL will be still trying to work out the number to order. Are you suggesting BFL are not going to continue shipping the order queue for more than 3 months until after the bulk sales chips arrive just to annoy customers?

I was unaware they are not shipping for over 3 months. Thank you for clarification.

chips come 100 days after 1/2 payment is delivered. It isn't the doom and gloom everyone seems to think it is. BFL is just trying to scrape up funds to do larger runs on the chips.

What do you mean scrape up funds, those chips are already paid for by the customer.

What I want to know is why the only members who are getting their shipments are members with only 5-10 posts. And no pictures with the "I GOTS MINES TODAY!!111 N ITZ MININ"

I would also love to have feedback for those who supposedly got their product, are the fans dusty, and do they smell like they've been running. you know that smell that graphic cards have id assume asics would have the same? I mean who could resist not running having millions of dollars worth of pre-orders on products who make their money back in 3 days. $1m a day, seems good enough to run the farm yourself.

It comes in a nice grey box with the BFL logo on it. All contents inside are wrapped nicely and professionally.  So no they do not appear used at all as I can attest to helping one be unboxed and setup yesterday (not mine, but someone else who is a long time member here).

I have seen users who have posted they received theirs who have thousands of posts and are active members on this forum everyday. Its all about if you decided to invest.  You can call BFL and talk to them directly.  They have a publicly available address, you can visit them.

If you join their forums on their website they give you more an enough info and are very forthcoming with it.  As of yesterdays shipping post, they have shipped all Jalapeno orders through July 3 2012.  So if you are someone who didnt get on board until a few months ago, it might take a while.  For me, I have had mine on order since July 23 2012 so at their rate, baring any unforeseen production delays, I am hoping to have mine shipped within the next couple of weeks.

You can see the Bitcoin network total hashing rate, so its not like they could have been hiding them doing work as the totals would be the same.  As more and more asic units are going out, the rates are going up, and so is the difficulty (hence the massive jump today).

They are coming through on their units, just not as fast as originally promised, but for those who held on, you will be rewarded.  Trust me, I was one big skeptic myself, but after seeing one in person, now I am just eagerly awaiting mine.

Awesome, good stuff thanks for the post!

What a load of rubbish. The customers paid for a miner, not components, BFL paid for the components and legally own them. BFL are entitled to then sell those components to anyone they choose be it part of a miner or separate, or they could suddenly decide to use different components in the miners,  and you have absolutely no say in it. Stop trying to spread misinformation.

Bullshit, the customer paid for their product deciding to ship out chips, vs ship out miners doesn't change anything. The customer paid for those components and legally own them BFL just has possession.

They said they could ship 400 asics daily, where the fuck are they?
725  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Open letter to Theymos regarding Butterfly Labs (BFL) on: June 05, 2013, 07:41:24 PM
People who paid 2k bitcoins, expecting to get their product and make a ROI of 30 days or less for a $30,000 product.
Now valued at $250,000 worth of bitcoin, and make their original ROI in how long?

Seems like a pretty legit way to make some money, collect $30,000 in bitcoin, wait for the price to go up, refund in usd keep the $250,000 in bitcoin.

Lets be honest, bitcoin (right now) isn't for those that are clueless about the computer/internet. If they did block bitcoin, those already using it are probably smart enough to find the chain elsewhere.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the Silk Road on: May 24, 2013, 08:10:06 AM
Well petty sure its more like:

Buyer:
You deposit funds to silkroad account:

Seller:
Silk road account pays you:

===========

So its not like if I send you coins, you send me crack, the coins are linked by a single transaction.

Then you put it in a spinner.

If you use pre-paid postage, and a fake name + address + gloves, they cant trace you.

It's against the law for the post office to open your mail, they have to have a warrant, and to get a warrant they need proof. For proof they need an x-ray, or a dog. If you stealth package your shit so a dog cant smell it, then you cant get a warrant.

You are so unaware of the system it's ridiculous.

A.) As time goes by the smell will come through the packaging, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SEAL IT, it is merely a question of time, say if you put it in a glass jar then you have 3 months until the smell is detectable outside of it, 3 air vacuum seals on top of each other will get you 12-20 hours.
B.) ALL the packages go through x-ray, dogs are incredibly effective at detecting drugs, furthermore the dog handler can make the dog do a false positive any time (can make the dog indicate as if it smelled something even though it didn't) and go through your shit.
C.) EVEN if you use a fake name + address + gloves, it's still not enough because you will need to change the gloves between every time you package something to not get particles on the outside of the package and cops will be waiting at mail drop boxes once they are aware of you, so enjoy your paranoia.
D.) It isn't that hard for the government to check out which websites you're browsing on the deepnet, even easier to social engineer the shit out of you and dox you down to the color of your trousers.

Please stop spreading FUD and advertising an otherwise extremely dangerous lifestyle, you can make a decent living without ever getting into that shit.

You have no idea what you're talking about.
A) Can you smell soda through a can? Didn't think so. Also dogs cant smell through glass, you ever hear of a mason jar? As long as there are no molecules of the drug on the outside of packages they cant smell shit. And 3 months for a glass jar? The fuck are you going to have drugs in the mail for 3 months for.. seriously express is 1-2 days, its picked up in your international post office and flew in. And the USPS have to get a warrant to open your mail, they cant just open your shit.
B) IF ALL PACKAGES went though an X-ray, I feel like there would be ZERO sellers on silk road. Seriously tin foil will block the contents of the package.
C) Make a $2000 sale, change gloves big deal.
D) Right that's why silk road is doing $1-2Million a month in sales. You have no clue what you're talking about, so stop talking.

The post office have better things to do than to search everyone's mail, such as getting 1-2 day express shipping or your money back, where it needs to go.

You HHARP guys are nuts, sorry but this broke ass government isn't going to destroy two schools, kill a few kids, and make billions more in debt when they could just dump this tornado in the middle of nowhere.

Or how about Iran..

Can't be proved or disproved.  Most people would have said the same about the technology you are typing the post with 100 years ago.  Frankly, we don't know, likely never will, likely won't make any difference.

That's completely unrelated. 100 years ago this broke ass government was flourishing. You cant compare having computers 100 years ago, to being poor today.

Sorry, but you don't use WMD's on your own people knowing you will have to pick up the tab on the damage. Especially since we have 2 major enemies right now that you can test hharp on.

I guess you never heard of berkshire bucks

Berkshire Bucks are an alternative currency that was launched in 2006 in Western Massachussets.  First created by the non-profit the E.F. Schumacher Society, Berkshires continue to grow in populatirty.  To date 2.7 million have been circulated and over four hundred business accept them.

Berkshire Bucks make sense as they encourage people to spend their money locally and also give the consumer a five percent discount.  Thus, when you go to bank to exchange cash for Berkshires you recieve 105 Berkshire for every 100 dollars of normal currency.

I've never heard of those. Keeps purchases locally though, while having 5% inflation over the dollar.

Yeah its a system that works out pretty well, I think they have a lot of farming, so restaurants buy fresh local tomatoes, etc.

What land are you on?

All the land taken in history is either by buying the land, through force or political systems.

Wars are fought over land, I find it hard to believe you have acquired sovereign territory.

If you do not have sovereign territory then your law is ultimately dictated by the people that do have authority over the land.

The only way you have acquired sovereign territory for free with no force is probably the land being questionable, such as a offshore platform or a small island off the coast of the north pole....

EDIT: Sorry if I sound negative its just an extraordinary claim that you have created essentially a new country.

Why would anyone panic if he moves them...? Why cant he use bitpay and spend them to buy nice things?

I see no problem here.
735  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Existence of mixers that ran with user's coins? on: May 18, 2013, 09:42:34 PM
Unless you got a long con going, I'm not sure a mixer would want to. Long run profit vs a quick 10k doesn't add up.  I'm not sure how much effort is even put into the mixing, probably all automated so ruining free income is a bad idea. Blockchain.info does it for 0.5% and I'm pretty sure its automated.

Goes to jail for an oversight on a subsidiary's bank account regarding regulations that are a month old?

Get a grip man.

Dude, you don't get the significance of this AT ALL.  This is NOT a meaningless situation regarding FINCEN's statement.  This is a criminal investigation involving, as the article puts it:  "Karpeles, in other words, is in violation of some fairly serious banking laws."

What Mt Gox has done is blatantly illegal and violates American laws back to the 1930's 1960's.

... gox isn't located in America. Why would they care?
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Satoshi Dead? on: May 17, 2013, 12:22:03 AM
If he has 50,000 in 1 wallet, he probably has another some thousands in another. You don't need $50,000,000 to live rich.
