541  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 19, 2013, 05:50:26 PM
probably this thread could merge into an overall orderbook and wall tracker

bitstamp has more volume now and there is one 3000 btc bid wall left. if this falls.. good night bitcoin for a deeper fall
542  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: September 19, 2013, 05:47:41 PM
the 1000 $ question is very interesting. however, this will most probably not happen in the next few weeks.
The more important questions, and of course this is my point of view, are rather:

Will Bitcoin charts show a bitcoin price below $100, $80, or even $40 again in the next days or few weeks?
or
Will we see a break out above $140-160?

This is something we analyse constantly in our service. Yes, we charge a fee for that. But the great feedback from subscribers shows that people new to bitcoin trading in particular see this as excellent help to navigate the market. We give probabilities to each scenario and the track record beats buy and hold by 700%.
And, we offer a 70% off promotion until early October for a trial month for only 0.075 bitcoin.

Well , frankly I was interested to hear some thoughts of the community about either side

Why have people clicked that prices go up and what do those think who clicked that prices go down ?

I don't know how to interpret a sentiment poll like that, but I can tell you why I clicked "up":

  • technical (a naive view): uptrend of July, August broke into a slightly ascending triangle -> continuation (bull flag?). If we break through $150 in the process, there is not much left to clear
  • mining: getting into mining looks bleak. Buying hardware at this point in time (and going forward I assume) doesn't make much sense or is highly risky at best -> people buy coins instead of mining hardware (the latter might even equate a sell of coins if bitcoins are used or sold to pay for the hardware). In other words: a lot of fiat was needed from the mining community (and acquired mostly by selling of bitcoins) to develop the various ASICs. That flow will decrease in volume.
  • regulatory/media landscape: it's still looking quite fabulous, Bitcoin seems to be growing up
  • general: the correction (April) is over, the will be more water running down the river before people regain trust into bitcoins value, but it will happen at increasing pace
  • businesses: a lot of businesses are being started around bitcoin. What's a bitcoin business without a stash of coins? Also good for Bitcoin visibility and a good way to draw in traditional VCapital that doesn't want to invest directly in XBT
  • investment: increasing trust and brokers/bankers helping investors buy coins might bring big bucks
  • trader emotion: bears (still waiting for $50 coins) are going to give up at some point
  • After german elections some EUR-shit might hit the fan -> good for coins

I'm not calling immanent ignition of the next hidden rocket just yet, but it's becoming more and more likely every day. Maybe in 2-5 months it's possible.

Well stated.
It is great when the Technical Analysis is in line with Fundamental Analysis

Thanks
This article is a great analysis

>61% bullish sentiment.

Does it mean prices will rally from here or crash?

Yes.

547  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tired of 140$ on: September 17, 2013, 01:07:15 PM
The price stays mostly below 143$ because that's the resistance level induced by those who got stuck on the 5th September.
If the whale buying pattern continues, we should see another large buy within 1 - 2 hours. How high it will reach, I don't know, that's why I'm jumpy now.
5th Sep?  ~$140 has been a major resistance level all over the chart, not just Sep 5.  Don't forget about April 29, when they started dumping 250K BTC day.  Yeah remember the days when there was REAL volume? THOSE are the days that matter and which control the trends.  The volume as of late has been totally pathetic in comparison.

There is less insight into the volume lately. At least within the US, there is reason to believe that Coinbase is trading large volumes, but they do not make there statistics public.

Volume will come back in the next few weeks based on our model. Exciting times ahead for bitcoin charts...!
You rely on models for advice? I can see you collecting fees from fools here and spending them on models that are sucking your d**k, who you ask for ''''''advice''''''.

Yes we have models.
No they don't cost anything
Yes we collect fees because people value accurate forecasts for their trading

I knew about S3051 being bearish on silver for years, but now it seems everyone is... why?

perhaps because they have seen that this call was right :-)
sorry, couldn't resist bragging  Wink

nice one  Wink

and yes, single digits for Silver to come

i think sub 15 is good price tho, i can see 5-9$ silver but not for more then a year... price should even out in the high teens in the next few years. just cuz of the currency wars, inflation everywhere...

yes, prices sub 10 $ will probably not exist for a very long time

The frequency of the buys have been the same some time, but now bullets seem to be running out?

This is from 2h chart. 140 broke down, what's going to happen next?
Possibly a lot of selling into the weekend dip, followed by a lot of regret when the next whale buy in happens.  Of course it could go either way though.  The longer term trend is definitely upwards, but as we all know past performance often means very little in this game.

it seems that the market is falling on its own weight. and the manipulation to keep the price at 140+ is not very successful

how do you know that there is only one entity manipulating the market?  maybe they are all taking turns with the market?

where do you find me saying that there is only one entity?

I think, by looking at the weekly charts, there should be movement next week.

agree..
and I think I know where it is going... perhaps even moving earlier than next week

I have not heard of Gox having problems processing non-USD withdrawals, then why is Gox (much) higher in
those currencies as well?

They also failed to process any of my EUR and CHF withdrawals.

i feel like we are going over 150 this time or soon, but i'm way more anxious about buying in at 140 than when we were at back in the 90s and contemplating whether we would hit 100 in July.  I'd rather we just go back down to 110 before i buy again, but hopefully that will happen before too long and i loose my nerve and buy in above 140.
You had your chance to buy cheap coins when the price was artificially below 130 during the recent beartrap.

Hm, what do you mean artificially? To me that implies manipulation. The only potential manipulation would be a cash whale wanting a lower price.. which isnt... really manipulation.

After systematically pushing the price up for almost two months with well-placed periodic large buys accompanied by immediate bidwalls to prevent slippage, then after letting market inertia carry for a couple of days without intervention, using a couple of 5k-6k dumps to panic the price down by over $20, they spent a similar amount to return it to where it started, buying and hoarding an unknown amount of coins when the price was down below 130.

Not manipulation? This whole market is a manipulation circlejerk.

This is why outdated 19th-century/early-20th-century technical analysis is futile in the world of Bitcoin. It's time to think outside the box or get stuck in the tarpits like dinosaurs.

I earned bitcoins daytrading back in March/April by anticipating dDOS attacks on MtGox. The smart money now is on anticipating whale manipulation.

Of course the smart people don't publicize their predictions, or at least not precisely.

What a dick

He might be a dick but he's not wrong. I've been saying it for a long time, but I'll say it again. Tech analysis can work well in larger markets, but bitcoin is simply far too small for it to be of much use (I use it in some situations, but mostly stick to fundamentals).

Noone is obliged to follow technical analysis

But for those who want better results than buy and hold , they are invited to try the technical analysis for bitcoin.

The bitcoinbullbear service has outperformed buy and hold by orders of magnitudes over 3 years consistently

You must be extremely rich?

It's not about me but about helping making our subscribers richer

Ah yes, obviously. How did i miss that part.

This is no joke.
