Sip, ya llovió desde esto  Grin

Al final se canceló, las máquinas no llegaban a tiempo para cubrir siquiera el ROI.

Un saludo.

Exacto. En todo caso fue un placer trabajar con los inversores - habrá otras.
542  Other / Meta / Re: End of newbie restrictions; ban changes on: January 20, 2014, 04:16:41 PM
New users can now immediately start posting unless they are using suspicious IPs. Suspicious IPs are ones that have been banned previously, or are known proxies, or are near many banned/proxy IPs. If you register using a suspicious IP, you can use most forum features (watchlist, etc.), but you can't post or send PMs until you pay a small fee. In almost all cases, the fee is less than $1. People proxybanned in this way can also be whitelisted by the usual people who can do whitelisting. These IP bans apply only to registration: you can no longer get caught by random IP bans if you're using an established account.

This is GREAT news - browsing these forums through Tor or Proxies seems the sensible thing to do to me - I'm glad that there will be no more random IP bans for established accounts. This is a big step forward.

Great job Theymos!

Between stealth addressing and coinjoin, we're already ahead of them.

Stealth addresses are indeed one of the most exciting developments - great job by Amir.

Furthermore, I strongly believe that coinjoin should be implemented by default on Bitcoin-QT. Isn't there any discussion in that direction?
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What's the safest way to store BTC? on: January 20, 2014, 02:58:15 PM
Probably a paper wallet is the most secure and most practical solution.

If you want more usability (for example spending some of the coins without exposing to the internet the whole amount held by a paper wallet) you can get armory. The new version supporst n-of-x parts paper backups (so your paper back up will be split in X parts and you will need at least N parts to recover the wallet).
545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amir Taaki needs to stop talking about bitcoins on: January 20, 2014, 12:41:29 PM
I for one would like Amir Taaki to speak MORE about Bitcoin in MORE venues.

He really understands Bitcoin, and he knows how to explain it to people in a passionate and true way. If some are scared by a mohawk and whatnot, then they will probably don't have the right mindset to understand BTC in the first place.

I'm not worried at all neither. Wizkid has proved many times he is completely trustworthy.
547  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory anonymously? on: January 13, 2014, 11:30:59 AM
I think bind=127.0.0.1 would have the added advantage that only local connections would be possible.  External connections can't "see" localhost on another machine.

Activating listen mode would be required.

I tried bind=localhost and didn't work, Bitcoin-QT couldn't resolve it.

Bind=127.0.0.1 didn't work for armory, but I tried it alone - maybe I have also to enable to listen=1 for bind=127.0.0.1 to work? Will try that...
548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ghash.io has voluntary to suspend parts of service! on: January 10, 2014, 03:21:22 PM
Unfortunately a lot of miners operated under an incorrect understanding of mining where they believe their income is proportional to the size of the pool that they are on based under a misunderstanding of mining as a race instead of as a poisson process and so they try to mine at the biggest pool.
Seems like smart pool operators could take advantage of this incorrect understanding by raising their fees as their fraction of the hashing power increases.

That would dampen the positive feedback effect of the dumb miners flocking to the largest pool just because it's the largest.

Actually that's what they should have been doing all along. Price signals really do work better than rationing - when a pool is attracting more hashing power than it wants rather than block new connections it should just raise prices.

That's what BTCGuild has historically done when they have reached dangerous quotas. They have taken up the fees.
549  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory anonymously? on: January 09, 2014, 08:08:51 PM
The bind=127.0.0.1 thing did not work - the only way I've managed to run Bitcoin + armory + Tor is to start Bitcoin with the listen=1 argument.
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DPR's Bitcoin Stash future sell off by the gov't panic ensues .. on: January 09, 2014, 02:03:24 PM

...So that they can get less for the assets than they would have otherwise?  In any event, this isn't even the worst news of the day, since sources have disclosed that the Chinese and US governments have entered an agreement whereby they work to filter out and block all cryptocurrency network traffic.  Look it up.  It's been confirmed via sources.

Routing bitcoin-qt through Tor is extremely easy - just a couple of clicks.

But I guess yours is irony/satire.

Hi guys, just came back from holidays, how is 2014 treating you? Is this rally "legit" or a bull trap, what's the consensus in here?

What about  repietila? Is he bull or bear now? Need to know to do the opposite he says Smiley
552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [SOLVED] Do not upgrade Google Authenticator (iPhone), you will lose keys! on: January 07, 2014, 07:52:22 AM
Tin foil hats, man... Tin foil hats.

Though I'm not a huge fan, I own an iPhone and don't care if the NSA can spy. On an ethical standpoint, it sucks. But in the end, I don't do anything that would warrant them sneaking into my affairs.

Do you really think so disgruntled NSA worker would go get your Google Authenticator codes? If you think so, you might as well play the lottery I think.

I don't have nothing to hide, but definitely I do care. I had iPhone in the past (very first versions) but I will never again, I prefer to have an android phone fully rooted and modified so the spooks have a hard time gathering info about me.
553  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory anonymously? on: January 05, 2014, 05:13:38 PM
That's an interesting point. You should try bind=127.0.0.1 instead of listen=1

Also, I would personally use Tails rather than just Tor, to guaranty all traffic goes through Tor.

Thanks for the advice, will try and report.

Tails is indeed the best solution, but IMO its not really conceived as a fully persistent distro. It needs to be run from USB which makes it very impractical to run a full node as I do.

Right now I use this solution when I want "full system going through tor": I route all my OS X traffic through tor using the Proxy settings on System Preferences/Advanced/Proxies. I've found it pretty good, meaning that everything really goes through Tor - to avoid any third party software "phoning home" without going through Tor I use Little Snitch, with which I block all connections that are not routed through Tor.

Summing up: Tor proxy in advanced network settings  + Little Snitch works very well on OS X.
554  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory anonymously? on: January 02, 2014, 10:22:30 AM
You need to add listen=1 to your bitcoin.conf file.

Prudence would suggest that you make sure that other machines can't see your PC, but you should be behind a nat router anyway.  Just disable a port forward if you have one.

Very sorry to necro this thread guys, but I just recently started to run Bitcoin-QT through Tor to protect myself especially while using public WIFIs, etc. and I had to add the listen=1 line to the bitcoin.conf file to get armory to work with it...

Erebus, you say that "prudence would suggest that you make sure that other machines can't see your PC", but anyhow Bitcoin-QT listen to external connections by default unless a proxy (like Tor) is configured - right? Thus, adding listen=1 would just take Bitcoin-QT to its "default" behaviour regarding external connections...

Did I get it right?
555  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: January 01, 2014, 10:33:59 AM
I've seen this prediction many times, but not sure why exactly people are choosing this number. In 2013, we went up 60x. Why would we only go up 7x next year? IMO if anything the curve gets steeper as the monkeys hope on board.
I see a possible trend of weakened bubbles. In 2011 we went up 40x. In April 20x. Now it was 10x. The number is seemingly halving every time (not counting the micro-bubbles in-between), and so 5x for the next ride isn't entirely unreasonable.

I agree with this. The "boom" cycles have consistently been smaller since 2011, and so the corresponding deflation phases after the peaks. That makes sense: volatility is expected to diminish as adoption grows.

If the above trend holds, next "boom" cycle should take us to around 5x-7x.

Finally, I'd add that I expect the boom and bust cycles to be smaller and smaller but much closer in time. Just the market adjusting itself...

Where's the warning thread for AnonyMint?
I guess in the Alt-Off Topic.

I entertain the idea AnonyMint is a sockpuppet of rpietila. Cheesy
