561  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 29, 2016, 10:36:07 PM
That third board is totally misreporting the hashrate.  I would reboot it.  But I should also point out that you are pushing higher temps than most people are comfortable with.  I usually try to keep the boards under 70 and the chips under 100.

I would guess that since it is showing correct hashrate on the pool and since the GH/S(avg) number looks normal it is actually hashing normally and the glitch is just on the reporting side of things.

IS the shop down.
I have tried now for days to make a new order of 10 x S9, but at checkout it stops when getting to shipping destination ??
Anyone else having the same problem ?

Did you try and get warranty repair on your failed S9 board?  Just curious.  Surprised to see you buying more.

https://gyazo.com/8e37d262da3d55b6908e9a7497b7e416

one of my S9 is showing 1 X in chips.
Tried rebooting it still showing an X
Hopefully it won't start showing more and more Xes Sad

I have one board on one miner that occasionally shows x's at stock freq but I have it downclocked and it doesn't happen.  The board in question is clearly problematic, at stock it sometimes only hit about 60% of expected hashrate and never went any higher.  It would take me several reboots to get it to come up higher but even then it wouldn't hit the numbers of the other two boards, and it would pop up occasional x's as mentioned.  When it was doing that the x's would come and go although usually on the same 4 or 5 chips.  So yeah, the whole thing is downclocked and it doesn't happen.

Ok, so the new fans arrived today.
I installed them and miner is working properly.
The only problem now is that it is not detecting one of the hashing boards.
any ideas?

Turn it off and then make sure all of your cables are connected correctly and securely.  Then power it on and see what it does.  If, during your previous testing, you powered a hashboard without powering the controller you may have damaged it, it is also possible it was damaged by heat since it appears that you have established that you had a fan problem.
564  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 23, 2016, 09:17:56 PM
I searched but there are sooo many pages
What are the temp limits ?

Based on bitmain installation guide:
Chip max temp 115
Board max temp 80

So:
The board  max of 80  means shoot for under 75
The chip max of 115 means shoot for under 105

Based on what I see for chip temps with a PCB temp around 70 I would think the chip would go much higher than 115 with the PCB at 80.
565  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 21, 2016, 10:21:02 PM
I would rather they simply honored the warranty.  If it breaks in the first 90 days it gets replaced without a lot of rigamarole on their part.  Buying a miner and getting a 10% coupon on the next is worthless if the miner I bought only performs to 66% of spec.  There are a lot of tech companies that provide excellent and reliable warranties.  Bitmain could be one if they wanted to.
566  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 21, 2016, 09:00:36 PM
I have room for one more S9 but considering the problems people are having and the lack of meaningful warranty support (of which Phil is really just the latest - although technically he hasn't been denied warranty yet but considering the hassle and expense to even see if you will get lucky and have it honored, well...) I think I will forgo another antminer.  The two S9's I have are working reasonably well so far, although one of them has a problematic board so I have to run it underclocked.  But I think I will consider myself lucky and wait for something from a bitmain competitor for my next miner.  Since I am only running three high wattage miners total, having one arrive broken without warranty would be a huge impediment towards ROI.  Especially when ROI is already many, many months out from purchase.

I have a few GPU's working on alts, I may look in that direction for future mining expansion instead also.

This is small consolation but it is a good bet that sooner or later you will be able to buy a replacement hashboard from bitmainwarranty if you wanted.  You might also just see if they can fix it.  Shipping to them will cost much less.

Error in stats. Recalculation in progress.

Does it happen to anybody else?
XMR pool

Yes.  XMR pool is all fucked.  Nothing is accumulating now even though miners are submitting shares and about 36-48 hours of mining is unaccounted for.  No response from admin email address either.  Thinking about looking into another pool.  Anyone know a decent cryptonight proxy?

The XMR pool also seems to have problems.
570  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 17, 2016, 01:49:24 AM
Ended up picking up another S9, sent the bitcoin to the address they gave me, order expired... I'm assuming after emailing them that they can manually adjust this? Has this happened to anyone else?

This happens all the time.  It'll be fine as long as the payment actually got confirmed.
571  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 16, 2016, 08:41:53 PM
I am resisting for now.  But if BTC goes up some more I might bite on one more.  I have one more S7 to replace.  I sure wish there was another mining manufacturing option available.
572  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 16, 2016, 11:56:39 AM
Those prices are stupid. After all this waiting I think I'm going to invest my 6 grand in something else. Such a disappointment...

Agreed that the prices are too high.  It also looks like they are pushing people to buy the lower hashrate unit for whatever reason.  The lower hashrate one is 4.8Th/BTC while the higher hashrate one is 4Th/BTC.  That's a large difference in terms of which is more economical.

EDIT: I guess I should say though that I prefer the prices being too high to being too low.  The price drop on the S7's was faster than the earnings from mining so that later buyers were rewarded for not buying earlier.  I am actually glad to not see that happening with the S9's so far.

They are pushing the lower hash rate units to the end users because Bitmain is filling their farm with the good full hash rate units and also taking the full hash rate models and shipping them to their large customers .... We the little miners, we get the scraps... the QC failed units.

I'm pretty much done mining BTC with the S7's till I get solar panels... till then, I'm cranking up GPU mining on Ethereum and Dash

Well they haven't even gone on sale yet and the price on the high hash units was dropped by a good margin so they are both close to 4.8Th/BTC now. (Although the lower hashing unit is still slightly more economical.)

That's actually more or less what I have done.  I started with GPU mining BTC and saved my mining earnings and bought up over time and so on just as you said.  However I have always been running these things at work, and even though I could technically add more miners, as the power requirements have increased I haven't felt ok with growing the mine to the limits of the facilities.  I have stated on these boards before that my boss knows about my miners and doesn't care, but I do care that I don't take advantage of the company, and the electricity that I don't pay for but get to use.  So yes I could add more hashrate but I am limiting myself to just three miners over about 1200Watts.  I have some smaller stuff mining alts but I only have 2 S9's and an S7 for BTC and I don't really see myself growing the BTC farm with current power requirements.  Back in the days of the S1's and S3's I had quite a few more but at some point I would need to move to hosted in order not to feel like I was abusing the situation and I can't see that hosted would make ROI at all.
575  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 11, 2016, 01:33:56 AM
Since the halving these things are not earning very much at all.  I have 2 of them, one of them I got at under 3 BTC with a couple weeks to mine before the halving, and it still looks like it is going to be a long, long time before these ROI and that's without any electricity costs.  I have one underclocked and the other setup to underclock for 6 hours a day and then do stock clock for the other 18 hours.  Based on what others have said about failure rates this looks like a bigger gamble than I had anticipated.

And what really sucks is that it comes on the heels of S7's that still haven't hit ROI with free electricity and decent resale price on two of them.  In about 2 months I should hit an overall break-even on the S7's since I still have an early batch unit mining at an average 5.02 Th/s but if not for the resale prices those things would have been a loss for sure.  Wondering if the S9's might be better sold at this point rather than gamble on them lasting long enough to get my BTC back.
576  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 06, 2016, 12:16:57 AM
Well if it is exactly as you say, that sounds pretty pathetic.  If the board isn't fixable it isn't under warranty?  That doesn't sound reasonable for a brand new device.

man this feast or famine crap sucks.

Well the famine part does anyway.  Smiley

With BTC falling I can't see any pricing that is going to work for bitmain.  Anything close to 3 BTC is going to take a year to ROI and right now that's looking to be $1600 and on it's way to sub $1500 from the looks of things.

Another Block by azazle!  Holy crap!  Cheesy Cheesy

It's the same worker name, I wonder if it is the same device.  That would be pretty damn odds defying.
580  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTC Laptop i7 Dedicated GPU paying using BTC on: July 29, 2016, 01:04:38 AM
Newegg only accepts bitcoin for stuff they sell, the market stuff (which means some other person or company sells it on newegg) can't be paid with bitcoin.  Just FYI.
