561  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much have you won/lost on bitcoin gambling ? on: March 05, 2018, 01:30:33 AM
I did not record how much I win or loss in gambling but all I know is that there is a net loss than gain. Yes there would be times when I have a big gain but then because of greediness, I would end up having a loss. I know there would be many people that can relate to what I experienced. I do not trade before because I am impatient and the fastest way I will have gains is through gambling. Thinking about it know, I just wish I hold my coin then I would have gained 20x already but I can't go back anymore so I would just learn from it. Now, I only gamble occasionally using Nitrogen Sports. This is better because I can control myself.
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which crypto exchange you recommend? on: March 04, 2018, 03:20:37 AM
I am new and i would like to do day trading with crypto currencies. For that purpose which crypto web exchange do you recommend?
I guess ones that have lowest fees on buying/selling crypto and with good reputation should be the best ones.

Thanks.

I would suggest binance because they have a 50% discount in trading fee if you use their coin BNB when trading. They have a bigger volume too so if you are active in trading or a day trader then it would be suitable for you. There is a catch though because their withdrawal fee is somewhat higher compared to other exchanges but only in some coins. It would be advisable to withdraw the coin only when you really need it or you have a significant amount of it because if you withdraw a small amount then you might end up receiving less coins than the withdrawal fee.

As for decentralized exchanges, IDEX and Forkdelta are preferred nowadays because they have higher volume. Most of the ERC-20 coins are first listed in these exchanges before they hit the big ones so it would be an opportunity to buy the coins at a discount because most of the time, once the coins list in big exchanges, they would moon.
563  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Best Time To Exit Trading on: March 04, 2018, 02:48:02 AM
BUY THE RUMOURS. SELL THE NEWS (not literally)
When media talks often about the dump and publish articles, then that is the RIGHT TIME TO EXIT.
News, rumours, speculations could have a big impact and can affect the price of altcoins. They concide the price movements resulting in pump and dump.

Believe me, I did that and it really works. Prevents deficits and prevents loss of investment.

I agree with buy the rumor, sell the news. News has a big impact on the prices of the coins and if ever there is a rumor about a listing of a coin in big exchange or a partnership with big companies, people would want to take the opportunity to buy the coin because it is expected that more people would buy it not because of the partnership and the potential increase of value of the project but because they expect that volume would go up because of the hype. An announcement of an actual event would make the price of the coin go up but upon the happening of the actual event, most people would exit because there is no anticipation anymore.

One of the example as well is the announcement of airdrop. People would buy the coin not because they want to have a share of the coin that would be airdrop but because they anticipate the increase of price and before the snapshot, they would sell the coin resulting to a downward movement and a crash of the coin like what happen to NXT.
564  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you rather see steady growth in Bitcoin or strong upward spikes instead? on: March 04, 2018, 02:00:43 AM
I would like a steady growth because it would attract more people to invest into it since a strong upward movement means a strong downward movement like what happen in December up to February. We have seen an unbelievable upward movement of bitcoin that it makes me afraid how much it will go down. When the buyer exhaustion started, others would observe the slow growth then and started taking profits causing a volatility of $1,000 in just a minute creating a crash that's why I don't prefer the rapid movements.

If bitcoin has a steady growth, there would be a regular profit taking so price wouldn't be volatile like what is happening to bitcoin nowadays. It would be an advantage to people who would like to implement bitcoin as payment system because price wouldn't differ that much so in the future maybe more business would like to adopt it as well.
565  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What I Should Know Before i Start Trading Cryptocurrency on: March 03, 2018, 03:43:08 AM
What do I need to Know to Start Trading on Cryptocurrency? Can anyone help me?

Nowadays crypto trading is very popular, that's why I have some interest in it. is it all about HOLD or SELL?

Buy low and sell high would always be the popular advice not just in trading cryptocurrency but it applies to all trading markets like forex and stocks. If you wanted to learn trading then you should start first by understanding how the market works. You can start with the School of Pipsology here https://www.babypips.com/learn. One of the mistakes newbies made when starting to trade is that they do not understand the terms use and the market structure. They just buy a coin immediately not even knowing the fees involve and study why the coin is increasing or decreasing rapidly only to be rekt afterwards.

There are a lot of youtube videos if you don't want to read. If you are really serious about trading then you should dedicate time to study the market because those who are successful didn't just study them for a short period but it took them a lot of time before they become profitable.
566  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-02] $9 Million a Day Is Lost in Cryptocurrency Scams on: March 03, 2018, 02:58:17 AM

It would be great to see the number of cryptocurrency thefts drop to $4 million a day, then $1 million and eventually zero, but realistically that’s not going to happen. The best that can be hoped for is a reduction in the amount lost to scammers. You don’t have to be smart to trade cryptocurrencies, but doing so will almost certainly make you smarter. The average crypto holder is more aware of security threats, both cyber and physical, and more inclined to question everything. You might one day sell your bitcoin, but you’re unlikely to ever disable your 2FA. That’s what a good grounding in the crypto trenches does.

Due to cryptocurrency being a new thing, I believe most of those that are victims of being scammed are the newbies that just entered the crypto ecosystem. It is like their baptism of fire to know if they can really survive in the crypto world. Of course it is not required but there are times when you have to experience it yourself so that you will be careful next time. I have been one of those people who have been scammed when I just entered crypto because it is very easy being persuaded especially if you can see the possible amount of money you can earn by just investing into it. Sadly, one will only learn the lesson afterwards even if you already warned a newbie to not invest. This is the reason why there are scammers because there will always be new people who will be willing to risk money and do not do their own research.
567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Scams on: March 03, 2018, 02:24:41 AM
WHAT SCAMS CAN YOU NAME AND SHAME SO WE ALL AVOID

If anyone knows of any crypto scams to watch out for or has been exposed to any can you please advise what?

You may want to check this board OP of the potential scams to watch our for. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

I can't afford to invest in rip off pump and dumps so looking at other ways to invest and grow my holding. What are good investment options worth exploring and what should be avoided? or is it better to just sit on Bitcoin,

Please list any known scams for all to see and avoid.  Smiley

If you want to avoid being scammed then do your due diligence if ever you decided to invest in an ICO. Check the information in their announcement and website and if there is a way for you to verify the information they provide then you should do it like checking their linkedin account and if they have partnership with other companies, you may want to verify it as well. If ever you received e-mails from an ICO you didn't subscribe then be on alert because it maybe just phishing.
568  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: General use of bitcoin as a legal currency on: March 02, 2018, 02:11:48 AM
I've heard many of my companions say the bitcoin is the greatest invention in the decade.. But I wonder why every country don't accept this as a legal currency in their general transactions?

There are countries that are oppose to the idea of decentralization which is what the cryptocurrency is because they don't want to lose control. If you observed, the government is the one who has the right to set the prices of any product and any financial transactions should be taken into account so that government will be able to take their share of the profits through taxes. With cryptocurrency, they would not be able to monitor all the transactions because although there is transparency of the funds, the people behind those addresses are anonymous so it would be hard to pinpoint who is who.

There is also the risk of using the cryptocurrency as a mode of payment in illegal activities because bitcoin become more famous due to the silk road incident and those who are against it is using that reason why they don't want to get involved with crypto. That is just one side of crypto but it is already evolving and more companies are using it as mode of payment legally but still it would be the prerogative of the government then if they want to recognize crypto as legal or not.
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH VS BTC which one will be worth to invest? on: March 02, 2018, 01:45:11 AM
Two coins have different purpose wherein bitcoin is for payment system while ethereum is use for smart contract execution. This top two coins in terms of market cap are in demand because these two are use as base coin when trading so if you want to get a coin then you can buy either of this two if there is no fiat pairing available. These two are the most famous coins in the crypto space as well so there is a high demand for them in which case you may want to invest to both of them.

If ever I can choose only one though it would always be bitcoin because its price has a big impact to other altcoins which would include ETH. Diversification would still be the best alternative though wherein you spread out your investment to a maximum of five coins you believe in.
570  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best alternative investments? on: March 02, 2018, 01:20:21 AM
In what are you guys actually storing and investing your money? in FIAT? Crypto? Stocks?
And how much? im thinking about moving more money into stocks so...

If your economy is doing good in your country then stock or mutual fund would be a good investment but investing in this kind of investment vehicle is for long term since they are not that volatile so trading it when you are already trading crypto makes you feel that the movements are so slow. I have a business related to agriculture so if ever I have some crypto profit, I just put some to that business because I am just starting and I just want to expand it since the demand of it is high but the supply is limited so this is a good business opportunity.

As to how much I invested, it is only a little amount and I think it would be better not to reveal publicly how much because there are some things that are better left confidential for some reason. If you want to do business aside from crypto, you should just choose a business you are passionate about because it won't feel that stressful if you like what you are doing.
571  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: day trading effective? on: March 01, 2018, 07:27:53 AM
It is effective if you understand how trading works and the meaning of the shapes and formations of candles with volume. If the market is mostly bearish then you have the option to short though it is not really recommended for newbies who are just starting to learn trading because your account will be burn even before you grasp what happened but if you are trading for a while and you know what price you should buy and sell then you can try it.

You can also try the traditional buy and sell wherein you buy first and then sell high. If you observe the market cap, there are coins that are pump from time to time so if ever you were able to catch the pump then you can still profit in the bear market. Day trading is effective as long as you have a trading plan and you strictly follow it.
572  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-28] J.P Morgan Sees Crypto As ‘Competition’ And ‘Risk’ To Its Business on: March 01, 2018, 02:26:13 AM
Most of the time it is the bankers that always appears in the media and say something about bitcoin. It is obvious that they are bias against it because they can see it as competition to their business. We can see banks suspending accounts because it is related to cryptocurrency since they don't want people to be involved in their competition. Some banks just immediately suspend an account even if the account holder did not violate anything simply because it is transferring account from/to a crypto exchange. Eventually when more people gets involved in crypto, they would not get involved with that bank again which is a disadvantage on the bank because they will have less funds and costumers. It would just backfire to them.
573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency kills people on: March 01, 2018, 01:59:37 AM
You should base your reasoning on some proof. Lind to the article please.

Accepting that that was said by Gates it would be a silly article because the same could be applied to $ and nobody is saying that US dollars kill people.

https://www.cnet.com/news/bill-gates-warns-cryptocurrency-has-a-deadly-side/

I think this is the article what OP is talking about.

I agree that to some extent cryptocurrency can kill people in a way that it can be used as a mode of transaction to pay for those terrorist attacks and other illegal activities but then all other mode of payments can kill people as well because as long as it is accepted in the market and maybe untraceable then the people behind those activities will use it like dollar, euro, and even precious metals.

Bill Gates put emphasis on anonymity of the transaction why cryptocurrency is used for illegal activities but there is still more anonymous than crypto and it is cash. You cannot easily trace cash if you transact it physically with no trace of online transfer.
574  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A newbie's experience to help others on: February 28, 2018, 02:23:00 AM
Sometimes you need to experience it yourself to take in the lesson and learn from it. Some people ask advice from others but do not take it seriously because they didn't experience it themselves but once they have first hand experience then that's the time they will realize the importance of the advice. Good for you OP you already learn your lesson earlier because others who are "lucky" being able to ride the coin and sold higher are maybe thinking that trading is just easy. We can see others posting that they profit tenfold from a coin so many newbies would just immediately join the battle without bringing any weapon and it end up being killed.

Failure is a better teacher than success do so this advice of you OP would be good for others who are yet to begin crypto trading. I have experience these mistakes myself so I can relate to you but now, I learned my lesson and know the importance of having a trading plan and not being emotional and greedy when trading. Plan your trade and trade your plan.
575  Economy / Economics / Re: What would happen if another cryptocurrency took Bitcoins place in Market Cap? on: February 28, 2018, 01:46:14 AM
There is always a possibility it could happen if the coin that will take over bitcoin would be able to get the trust of the cryptocommunity and will be use for its purpose. We may see bitcoin as a store of value now but we can see that some are using it as payment transaction so it still serve its purpose. It has the advantage of being the most popular cryptocurrency that's why the demand is still high and still holding its throne since the inception of cryptocurrency.

Eventually, another cryptocurrency may be able to take over its throne and if ever it would stay there for some time then we can accept the fact that bitcoin is not the king anymore but if it will happen because the coin is just hyped then eventually it will go down and bitcoin would still be the king. If it stays there then the exchanges would just update their pairings and add the latest king of crypto.
576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become a daily currency??? on: February 28, 2018, 01:25:26 AM
My own personal hope is that we will see cryptocurrencies develop into currencies we will use on a daily basis.  in my opinion, bitcoin will be a good place to start due to the mainstream knowledge about Bitcoin,  but I do not think it's the best-suited kind for daily use and I believe we have a long way to go before it is a viable alternative to Fiat currencies for the majority of people.

It is not ideal for bitcoin to become a daily currency sooner because there are still some problems when it comes to fluctuating prices that's why only a few companies accept bitcoin now. Small value transaction is not that ideal as well to transact with bitcoin because of the fee. The fee may be low but still a small value transaction transaction would become expensive with added fees. At least the confirmation time should become instant or almost instant when you want to pay with it because in a scenario wherein you need to pay some groceries with bitcoin, there would be a lot of people waiting on line so you do not want to delay them by waiting for your transaction to get confirmed.

There is also the problem with accessibility because if we see the larger picture, there are still so many people who have little to no access in technology so it would be hard for them to use cryptocurrency if they don't have any idea what it is and its purpose.
577  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-26] Circle Buys Poloniex Cryptocurrency Exchange on: February 27, 2018, 03:09:44 AM
Maybe they are the reason why the market is bearish during this past few days. We are heading upwards but suddenly a downward trend again. Maybe they are the one accumulating all this time but then it is all just speculation as we don't know what is really happening behind those prices. Poloniex has been the number one exchange and because of previous issues, many transferred to other exchanges and now it seems like they are getting back their throne. Well, I hope those who are having issues with them will eventually be solved especially of this new acquisition and they are heading for a larger volume.
578  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Whilst trading, which website you always keep open? And why? on: February 27, 2018, 02:52:41 AM
I open the exchanges that I use in trading and then trading view because I watch the movements of the prices there. I do not trade too many coins so I can monitor the prices of the coins I trade simultaneously. I am more of a day trader than a long term trader so I need to watch the chart as often as possible to see the prices real time. I also follow the telegram channels of the coin that I trade if there is one to know if there are any news that may affect the prices currently and of course the price of bitcoin as well because it is one of the major factors that affect the altcoin's price.
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Received An Email From MyEtherWallet on: February 27, 2018, 02:13:51 AM
You just have to remember that you didn't give any e-mail address when you created your wallet in MEW so why should they e-mail you about an airdrop. It is an obvious scam but unfortunately, there are still many people who would fall for this scam in an excitement to receive an airdrop. One thing I learned in crypto world is to always check the senders address and link and if any of it is from MEW or Etherdelta then it would just be a scam. I read about it here in the forum and I want to warn every one to never entertain any e-mail coming from them supposedly and just delete it.

I would just like to add that sometimes, you'll receive an e-mail from an exchange saying you need to log-in because of some reason. You should not click the link given to you because most likely that is a phishing site. Always check the senders address if it is really from the exchange.
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: KuCoin. Problems with the exchange on: February 26, 2018, 02:36:12 AM
After 45 days, the kucoin replenished my balance. Thanks to the exchange that they did this, but the work of the support service raises a lot of questions. There were no replies to the mail, the admins answered very rarely in the telegram and did not give useful information. Should I continue to work with this exchange? I'm still thinking.
p.s.:and I really don`t like that their app is very slow

45 days is a long time but at least they replenished your balance. I've been trading in the exchange as well and thankfully I have no issues with them. Before, they are very responsive to their customers but I think because of the surge of new users, they weren't able to take action immediately. The exchange may have some lapses but so far I'm good with them and I hope it would continue this way.

You have the option though to try the decentralized exchanges like Etherdelta/Forkdelta and IDEX. You can buy coins there at a discount price but just be careful with the prices you input cause even with a one zero that is miss, you can lost 10x the amount of your coins.
