I don't think the anonymity is gonna be the winning point... at least not on paper.
I think it will be the security to online transactions and international boundarilessness.
Just my two bits.
It was the potential globality and ability to reach the 'unbanked' which initially excited me and drew me to Bitcoin. The anonymity/pseudonymity does strike me as an equally important feature though - even though for the bulk of my transactions its not much of a consideration. That the option is available seems nonetheless important to me - even if only as a hedge against certain emergency situations. (not necessarily for myself - but for it to be useful under certain regimes) i.e I don't necessarily see it as the *main* 'drawcard' attracting people to Bitcoin - but it's still a required attribute in terms of global utility. |

Heh, well it doesn't say here's an overview of Bitcoin, it specifically says: "Here's what you should know about the not-so legal side of Bitcoins": Well the blackboard says "Here's what you should know about Bitcoins" - even though the audio says "Here's what you should know about the not-so legal side of Bitcoins" It certainly comes across to me that it's intended as some sort of Intro/overview regarding bitcoins. Buying stolen art? Has there even been a rumor that this has occurred yet?
I haven't heard of it. I'm also suspicious of their insinuation that the silk road has relaxed their policy regarding selling harmful products like firearms and stolen credit cards. Has this policy really been relaxed? |

"Detected scrypt algorithm"
and then just spits out 'invalid nonce -HW error' messages This means the pool you have configured is a scrypt pool. That makes no sense to me. I thought scrypt was something to do with litecoin? I haven't changed the pool - currently BTC Guild via stratum proxy. Why do I need to care about scrypt/litecoin and what should I be reading? |

They sound like trinkets - and no doubt weigh nowhere near what an ounce of gold would. I'm sure it upsets the Perth Mint from a branding perspective and would contravene some copyright laws in Australia which they will somehow try to get enforced via 'harmonization' agreements with China.. but this is a far cry from the serious tungsten-filled gold fraud, and a quality news station would have made the distinction clear.
