61  Economy / Speculation / Re: was the 69K the actual bull run or just part of a longer bull run? on: July 21, 2022, 12:15:52 AM
Every bitcoin halving has its own new ATH. It's just like a circle. The more the bitcoin halving we encounter, the new ATH is set in place in the bitcoin price. If the last halving gave us $69k, we are more likely to see bitcoin hit her next ATH of $90k by 2024.

90k is way to low. We went from $19k to $69k when a worldwide pandemic was raging...
And the halving is traditionally on the low side of the log curve channel...

it also opens the door to Tesla being willing to accept BTC again to replenish their stash now that it's been depleted.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Holding "planet destroying" Bitcoin not compatible with Elon selling poorly QCed cars to people who think they are saving the planet.

I refuse to buy a new car until 0.1 BTC covers it fully after tax.
Most likely it won't be a Tesla considering their prices are only going up whilst the rest of the car industry are catching up and making more interesting cars with less harsh suspension.

A Tata Nano?

Tesla sold 75% of their Bitcoin. Thank you for the cheap coin, Elon.

ICYMI

People like pictures too!

1.26Billion --> 218 million is an ~82% haircut. Coincidentally the price dropped after the end of Tesla's Q1

I'm curious *when* they sold it.

Would be interesting if he sold it to himself at a loss... that would give him cheap coins at the expense of Tesla and their shareholders....

65  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was $17.5K the low? on: July 20, 2022, 04:59:32 PM
Today bitcoin has reached 24k, which is about 40% of the expected bottom at 17.5k. Unless a reversal back to the bottom happens at these levels, we can say that 17.5k was indeed the bottom. But I wouldn't be too quick to buy now, it's too easy to buy for all those wishing to buy at those prices. There is a chance that the bottom will be tested again.

Yes wait for 69k before buying  Roll Eyes

Even if it would dip, btc is still considered "cheap"

We'll be back under $20k before the end of the month.

67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SOLANA PRICE ANALYSIS: IS SOLANA'S $40 TARGET REALISTIC OR MYTHICAL? on: July 18, 2022, 07:15:53 AM
It seems to be realistic  Cool
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How are your shitcoins? on: July 18, 2022, 07:13:45 AM
Currently only holding ethereum and Solana next to BTC. Don't know if these are considered shitcoins on this board Grin
Ethereum I expected to grow because of the merge and my hunch seems to be paying off.
Solana is doing nice aswell...  Smiley

With gold there is also mercury pollution. And arsenic. It's a big problem in French Guiana with illegal gold mining.

In a few decades I expect asteroid mining to increase the supply of gold significantly.

I have a sell order at 100K$. For something like 5% of my stash. The difficulty will be to keep it when we'll be approaching that level, so I'm already preparing myself. When the price goes down under 100K I don't want to have regrets.

You will regret it when it goes past $250k  Cool

Yes that's my point. When we'll get towards 100K I will think about that and will want to cancel the order.

I'm helped by the fact I lost plenty of coins in various ways so I won't delve into the past too much.

Maybe a trailing stop loss at 30% below the current price, on the way up, starting at 100k, might be a better idea.

We've all lost some coins at one point or another. Don't sob, just keep on stacking...

Bitch please .............. Gold produces more Energy each day than the mining grid uses the whole year worldwide. The mining grid doesnt use little lemme tell you this much. Gold is the most conductive material that exist.

Mining gold uses fossil fuel
Mining Bitcoin uses electricity like renewables

Yeah but if they build ammonia/hydrogen engines it would be mineable  without fossil fuel.

Not that I argue for gold as a value store.

Gold has an issue which is on any give day a new huge supply could be found.

It is possible that gold is more common than copper which would be good for electrical builds but terrible for gold hodlers.

Making ammonia requires natural gas and has a "remove CO2" step in the process...

Edit: there is also a green production method

ur still a s l e e p

anyway as long as i know that alaska that produces 40% of all gold is using organic oil as fuel Wink ( they can say whatever they want now )

ps lemme tell you that plant based oil could be fuel for all mandkind

It's 1-2% of all the gold mined
It's still CO2 production even if their caterpillars run on bio avocado oil Wink

Bitcoin mining could be done using solar only, not generating CO2.

Yes bio oil could be an alternative for the future. However I bet you can't generate the amount fuel consumed today using plant based alternatives...

Financial institutions are roaring to get aboard

This is kind of the irony I find though. Many institutions aren't able to invest in Bitcoin as a reverse asset when it's worth less than $1 trillion (too risky). When previously Bitcoin was worth more than $1T it was around $50K and generally considered either overbought or too risky. Maybe the fact that Bitcoin has already reached $1T and can no doubt do it again there will be buyers stepping in before then though, only time will tell.

Overall, an institutional buy level, well as main accumulation/distribution level (based on volume) does appear to be around $30K. For now I see this level very similarly to $6K to $8K back in 2018, as it's where the majority of volume lies in the past 18 months, as well as where institutions such as Tesla and Microstrategy (as well as others no doubt) invested for the long-term, and haven't yet sold most notably. Institutions also won't mind if it drops to $25K thereafter, if they are investing for the long-term that is. But regardless the derivatives market could have it's way if $30K is heavily shorted, that much is clear.

As Michael Saylor says a major problem is that financial institutions can't take custody of crypto because there is no certainty if they are commodities or securities. Once these ambiguities are resolved financial institutions can enter the space.

Currently the biggest holders are waiting for ETP approvals like ARK and Grayscale. Microstrategy to my knowledge is only holding it as an asset which binds their stock value to Bitcoin...

Since Europe and Canada already have approved ETPs it's only a matter of time for the US to build legislation and regulation to allow it...

I don't think the current marketcap has any real effect except for showing that Bitcoin is legit.

I have some faith in this data model and on-chain analysis of BTC, Let's see how good was this data model after 7 years maybe!

Please do not race much to prove this model right/wrong, my main intention was to get the accuracy & reliability of such data for Bitcoin and then compare it with the on-chain analysis and not get people called "MAD" for believing/observing this kind of data.

Nobody is right, only time will tell.

I'm with you on this.
It's just macro events that have made it skewed a bit...

Still have faith in S2F
79  Economy / Speculation / Re: copytrading and futures on: July 15, 2022, 07:19:09 AM
Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I personally don't recommend copytrading in general.

I do not recommend trading in general, let alone copytrading. For a simple statistical reason: you have more than a 90% chance of losing money. It is easier and more likely to win with Buy and Hold or DCA, if we talk about premium financial assets such as Bitcoin.

When I say trading I mean day trading or making trades with a certain frequency. Another thing is to invest long term and sell partially to rebalance when we are in bull market beating ATHs or buy more aggressively at times like this.

+1

I chose to be an investor not a trader or gambler

Gambler = buying shitcoins on leverage for a possible 100x or more (high risk)
Trader = buying and selling to make many small profits on volatility(risky)
Investor = accumulate coins and HODL (lowest risk)

Copy trading will most likely be one of those scams that lure you in...
80  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you regret buying before the dip on: July 15, 2022, 07:02:30 AM
Bought at 26k with max of my capital as I didn't expect it will go this low but it never crossed my mind to feel regret.
That's the perk of being old in the cryptocurrency industry, you don't panic and you trust the process.
Bitcoin already showed how volatile it could be especially at going forward. It never went back to $300 for a long time so time will tell when we can reap the rewards even if you bought at a higher price than now.
Patience had always been the key.

I agree, you will always have situation where you bought at a suboptimal price.

I also bought at $28k or so. Still a great price but it will be a few months before it hits a profit.
Been DCA'ing the low to bring down the average buy in....

As you say.... trust the process... Cool
