61  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-24] The SEC Admitted Being Too Hasty When Rejecting Bitcoin ETFs on: August 27, 2018, 06:22:21 PM
I don't know why most people are so pessimistic. Even without this news I've been thinking that SEC will approve one Bitcoin ETF or another within 2-3 months. The thing is that they don't want to look like complete idiots acting as a brake on progress. It's not like they are tyrants doing whatever they want. They know full well that if found not able to keep up with the times they may be replaced.

I doubt it will be that soon, but I have hope that they will accept it eventually. As others have said they may never approve them though. They might just be too scared or even naive of bitcoin, especially due to the bubble earlier this year. I guess only time will tell but we shouldn't pin all our hopes on this decision though it is certainly something to still hope that happens eventually.

The biggest issue now is public opinion. Change that and the outcome will be different.

I'm not so sure about that. I think it's just whoever is responsible for making the decisions behind the SEC. Public opinion should have little effect on that.
62  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 27, 2018, 03:15:59 PM
Have a feeling Man Utd will sneak a victory against Spurs tonight, no doubt they’ll play awful football & win by 1 goal.

Man U 2-1 Spurs is my prediction (don’t bet on that, I’m not).

Yup, same feeling here... It could be 2 - 1, but it could also be 1 - 0, 1 - 1, 0 - 0 with Mou parking the bus.  Lol.

And they're playing at Old Trafford.  No way are they allowing themselves to be embarrassed again right after losing to Brighton.  Knowing Mou, a point here would be like a win.

I can't call this game either. Could be zero goals, one, or loads. I reckon it will be low scoring. Maybe 1 nil either way or 1-1. Not going to put any money on it but I'll be watching it. Hope the teams don't cancel each other out though and it ends up being boring.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it my impression or media is biased towards bad news ? on: August 27, 2018, 08:02:19 AM
Do you think the media is trying to destroy Bitcoin and cryptocurrency ? I think they show 95% of the times only bad news. Why is this happening ?
This happens because the government is afraid that bitcoin will be able to shut down most of the banks which are the ways for investors to invest in bonds. Because of this, they show only the people the disadvantages of bitcoin and not its advantages. The lesson in this is dont always believe what is on the media.

Bitcoin will likely never shut down banks. People will always need banks. Who's going to give them loans or mortgages? Bitcoin just allows you to be your own bank if you wish and not rely on a third party to look after your money or transfer it for you. Even if crypto becomes dominant people will still have a use for banks and I don't think they'll go away completely for a long time yet if ever. I suppose the other option would be things like peer to peer lending and credit unions.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin ever stop depending on fiat currency? on: August 27, 2018, 07:56:29 AM
Well in theory that could happen if people only used bitcoin or crypto for transactions, but that's likely to never happen, just as the entire world doesn't just use one currency. Also you have to remember people are likely always going to trade it for something else whether it is fiat or another crypto and even fiat currencies are traded against each other and lose or gain value over time due to numerous factors so they will likely always co-exist together.

I agree. Of course there is a possibility but I bet, it will not happen. The ability to use bitcoin is still on the hands of the government though I don’t think bitcoin depends on fiat in the first place.

It's not in the hands of government. It's in the hands of the people. If people just started using it instead of fiat it would achieve dominance naturally and maybe people would stop using fiat or use it less and less and then there would be nothing that they could really do about that, unless they try ban it, but under what grounds? They can't ban gift vouchers or people from accepting foreign currency so this would be no different. This could certainly happen in the future, but I see bitcoin working alongside fiat as option rather than taking over completely.
65  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Find Cats annoying? (Almost killed mine) on: August 26, 2018, 06:00:59 PM
You forgot 'kills humans', for the dog ofcourse. I fucking hate dogs (not those small ones with cute faces) especially those big ones. They are emotionally unstable and submissive, unlike cats.  Cool

Hardly any dogs kill people, but when they do it's usually the owners fault for not raising them right or purposely making them violent. Besides, we all know cats would kill you if they could. They're just pussies and don't have the strength or skill-set to do so. At least dogs will protect you and not run off like a cat would  Grin.

Watford - Crystal Palace BTTS @ 1.80
Fulham - Burnley BTTS @ 1.95
Newcastle - Chelsea BTTS @ 1.80

Also Newcastle - Chelsea FT Draw @ 4

I am thinking Newcastle will make Chelsea drop some points today and have a feeling the match might end in a draw so gonna try my luck with that one. Cheers!

I wouldn't back that personally. Watford vs Crystal Palace and Fulham vs Burnley could both be bore draws with no goals. Might be money in the draw on Newcastle vs Chelsea but I'd still back Chelsea here. Maybe 0-1 or 1-2.

Well I was wrong about the draws but at least I got the Chelsea score right (kinda cos I said 0-1 as well hehe). Really wasn't expecting so many goals from the other two games though. Look at Watford at the top tied for first place with Liverpool and Chelsea. Really looking forward to the game tomorrow between Man U and Spurs. Can't really call the outcome but hope Spurs win.
67  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is Marijuana becoming more accepted by the society because it's regulated? on: August 26, 2018, 05:41:51 PM
Over the last few years, the marijuana industry is becoming exponentially profitable as some states in the USA and countries in parts of Europe have accepted it's recreational use upheld by the law. So will Marijuana itself no longer be a victim of social injustice as long as it is regulated?

Well yes, but it's not just that because America isn't the world and cannabis is becoming more accepted in many other countries too even where it isn't being legalized or regulated. I think it has been demonized for far too long and people don't really believe the fake theories of it being a gateway drug and so on. It's far more safer than other socially acceptable drugs like alcohol and cigarettes so it's about time the stigma went away.

I think it is acceptable if it is used properly

What is the acceptable and proper way to use it exactly?
68  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: August 26, 2018, 05:37:46 PM
I literally just got done watching Game Night. By far the funniest film I've seen in while and I'm hard to please these days, especially with comedies. Laughed out loud throughout it. There were some cool shots and cinematography and it had a pretty decent synthy score as well which was done by Cliff Martinez (who did the Drive score). Unusual for a comedy to have such a score but it worked well. Would recommend it if you want a laugh.

Any good movies anyone would recommend w/ a vibe similar to Shawshank?

Well I think the obvious suggestion would be The Green Mile as it's very similar. It was also written and directed by the same director (Frank Darabont/Steven King). Both are great, but I prefer Shawshank.

I just googled for a list of films similar to Shawshank and this came up: https://www.scoopwhoop.com/Movies-You-Need-To-Watch-If-You-Loved-The-Shawshank-Redemption/#.v1x4081l4

Green Mile is number three on there.

Awesome, thanks! TBH, surprisingly, I haven't seen Green Mile yet, so I'll give it a look

I can't see why you wouldn't like it. It's very similar, but as I said I prefer Shawshank as do most others. I need to watch them both again, though.

primedice add dogecoin GO GO Cheesy

am very happy if primedice add dogecoin

People still use dogecoin? That was a meme that just went too far.

Wait, is it possible to earn something on Primedice's forum? I didn't know that and have never visited their forum, seems very interesting.

Yes, check all the info you need at my past reply: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=208986.msg43911402#msg43911402

We pay up to 5000 satoshis per Topic and 1000 satoshis per Post! Shocked
Withdraw from 2,000 satoshis!
~

That's right, it is possible to earn something on PD forum, shield132. Of course you have to follow some rules, but they are not that strict for someone to unable to follow. Right now I've made my first post since transferring earned sats to my PD account and I see that I've earned 554 sats for that. It wasn't a topic, it was just a reply in a thread. You should try it, it's fun. Smiley

Interesting the PD have now started paying people to post on their own forum. I remember them being one of the OG signature campaigns here. I'll have to check it out. Seems that a few forums have taken the model this one started in paying users to post in order to gain traffic. I wonder if this will catch on outside of the crypto world?

cat are not annoying because cat is cute, clingy and floppy.

Well I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're a little bit biased looking at your name  Cheesy.

72  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-25] Google Searches for ‘Bitcoin Price’ Sink to Three-Year Low on: August 26, 2018, 11:50:51 AM
Maybe people have learned to actually use bookmarks? Roll Eyes Pointless typing the same thing into google when there are plenty of sites and exchanges you can use for this. There's also apps that can notify you of changes in value which you can even customize yourself. The coinbase app allows this and is quite useful.
73  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Find Cats annoying? (Almost killed mine) on: August 26, 2018, 11:31:21 AM
Yeah, they're annoying for some reason. I'm a dog person though. I just don't get the appeal of cats. They don't even do anything. Dogs are legit as fuck though:

74  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you vape? on: August 26, 2018, 11:25:55 AM
I've never smoked.

No. Never ever in my life i tried to smoke. Smoking is very dangerous so everyone must not try this because it only lead to smoking addiction and can cause severe illnesses not only to the user but also to the people around.

This isn't about smoking. It's about vaping. Vaping is scientifically proven to cure cancer and get you hot chicks.

But I don't vape. It's why I don't get hot chicks.

75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it my impression or media is biased towards bad news ? on: August 26, 2018, 10:59:14 AM
Do you think the media is trying to destroy Bitcoin and cryptocurrency ? I think they show 95% of the times only bad news. Why is this happening ?

Ever heard the phrase 'good news for people who like bad news'? Most mainstream media outlets have some sort of political agenda and that is usually set by whoever owns the big conglomerates behind them, and they are at the will of either their own business interests of those that finance them. It's a whole corrupt system where those who have the money can influence the mainstream, but I'm not sure someone is actively trying to smear bitcoin at this point. They just tend to latch onto the bad news because it's a better story. There's also more bad than good news at the moment so that doesn't help either. Don't forget the media does promote us when bitcoin is rallying and the rally last year was probably mostly pushed by the FOMO of others getting on board after they kept seeing in the media that bitcoin was on the up and up so they're obviously not completely biased. Maybe just ignorant, naive, and skeptical of bitcoin more than anything.
76  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where is your "Dream Place" to travel? on: August 26, 2018, 10:49:21 AM
In my country there is a place call heavens edge that is once of the best place I like to visit

That's your dream place? A place in your own country that you've already been to? Read the first post. This thread is more about places on your bucket list to see before you die than just your favorite place to go:

If I will be given a chance to choose at least 2 places that i want to add in my bucketlist are Paris and  New York. It is just my dream to travel those places and I have been saving money to be there:)

I chose Paris because it is just so beautiful, the food, place and art is highly appreciated there, and of course Eifel tower is there too!

And New York because I might sound crazy but I am so into this tv series called 'Gossip Girl" that i want to see the places they shoot the scenes in the show!:)

I hope to travel these places before I turn 30 and hopefully to be with someone that he/she is worth travelling with:)

Quite a few places and too many to mention. I'd love to go to Norway for fjords. A cruise down them during the northern lights would be awesome.

I've always wanted to see an aurora borealis. Hopefully one day I'll get to experience it.

78  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Trump just a puppet? on: August 26, 2018, 07:49:00 AM
Aren't most politicians just puppets in bed with corporations and their rich donator buddies? Do you really think George Bush was just sitting in the Oval Office one day and started drawing up plans to invade Iraq and Afghanistan? We all know what they were really for. Those wars were all about money and power, but of course they sell them to the public by that they're going to oust an evil dictator or eradicate the terrorists that hate their country and are willing to attack it because of that. You fight terrorism with more terrorism? Who's ideas was that? Remember, the bigger terrorist is always the one with the bigger weapon.

80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to have many altcoins or it is enough to have few? on: August 26, 2018, 07:34:58 AM
It seems to me that the result is in quality, not in quantity. Therefore, you can have only a few coins, but very promising. Although I am a supporter of investment diversification.

But the question is how do you determine what coins are going to be quality or not? There's just no way to tell most of the time and that's why you're likely to lose more money than you make investing in new coins I find. There are plenty of coins I've seen that have just looked like every other shitcoin that fails before it even gets going and is dead on arrival that have gone on to be very successful, even though they haven't really got much behind them and are heavily pre-mined. There are then also the coins that have had potential in my opinion that have just fizzled out or stalled in adoption. If people could tell the difference between them easily we'd all be rich already.
