US government own DPR stash and now own the bitinstant/foundation hoard. i guess their working their way down the list or people with most bitcoins.

I wonder if they've invested any time or resources trying to track down Satoshi?

Maybe the feds are satoshi lol. /conspiracy theory.
1042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CEO OF BITCOIN EXCHANGE ARRESTED on: January 27, 2014, 05:34:57 PM
Wouldn't surprise me if there was some dirty tricks involved like there was with Silk Road.

What the hell is with all the crypto currency popping up anyway? Litecoin, devcoin, newbcoin, papasmurfcoin. Like where does it stop? Do I just invent my own crypto coin to make my next house payment in 20 years? Yeah uh today it's going to be chips-a-hoy coin. Yup.
It does seem to be a bit ridiculous at the moment, some are dead on arrival
(mousecoin). They can be used for short term gain if you're careful.  Anyway
it's easy to just avoid all the knock-offs and stick with coins you find to be
reputable, just like any other product.

Why would anyone want or possibly need a 'Mousecoin'? These coins are pure stupidity.

BitPay Not Willing to Work with Marijuana Dispensaries

Then they should find one that does.

Jennifer Lawrence looks like a duck.
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone recording/streaming from Miami conference? on: January 27, 2014, 03:15:01 PM
Yeah I hear what people are saying, but at the same time these conferences cost money to run and people pay money to attend, and I wouldn't be surprised if some are paid to talk.

People usually get paid to present at conferences etc, or at least get a minimal fee and their travel expenses.
1047  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon's Jeff Bezos looks to the future on: January 27, 2014, 01:50:56 PM
If he really is looking into the future and trying all these new things why isn't Bitcoin a top priority.

Maybe he doesn't think Bitcoin is the future?

Then he's probably not that great forward-thinking businessman he thinks he is. I do hope Amazon accept Bitcoin in the near future as that really will be huge and give the currency a great boost into the mainstream.

I think ebay and amazon are two of the big markets we need. The rest will follow after that. I'm sure they'll have to take notice eventually, but getting in early will be great adverting and free publicity for them.

From their online statement:

Quote
Cash presents more risk, and in particular financial crime risk, than other payment methods. It also leaves customers with very little protection if things go wrong.

Then, reported:

Quote
Certain companies and individuals flagged for illicit and criminal behavior are officially flagged in the system, and prohibited from authorized trade. But according to Stern, executives inside the system learned how to simply reclassify the coding to allow payments to go through to these entities.

Hundreds of millions of dollars were funneled to terrorist organizations including Hamas and Hezbollah – via the firm Tajco, operated by the Tajideen brothers – as well as drug cartels like Sinaloa and Los Zetas and Russian mobsters.

Biggest case of hypocrisy I've ever seen.

That's banks for you. They don't care about their customers until there's a backlash and the threat of them losing some money.

Watching a 3d film on a tiny screen is like listening to music on a potato.

There's a thread here on BTC: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=425366.0

I don't get why we need this either. I think there's already a few weedcoins.

Just recently watched, "Chronicle". If you like a slight sci fi, plus with reality its a decent watch.

I liked Chronicle a lot. I think they're doing a sequel too. Should be interesting to see where they take the characters that are left.

1057  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying an anonymous card on: January 16, 2014, 03:40:11 PM
Hi all,

Several sellers here offer an anonymous card, but people not from the forum cannot reach them, because they only accept PM, which is unavailable for newcomers...

I found those:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399696.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=216629.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=369797.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=86382.0

Why don't they publish other channels to communicate with them? If those cards are legit, what do they have to hide?
Why don't they offer those cards on markets (e.g.  cryptothrift.com / coingig.com) - I remember that some sellers sold cards on bitmit before it closed....

Am I missing something?

PS. If one of those sellers reading this, please reply with convenient ways to contact you...

Tom

You'll be able to post there in four hours time so just wait and ask them yourself. I don't think they have anything to hide, but some people may be dodgy and others legit. Check out the facts and feeback and make an informed decision.
1058  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do you say about Social Coin ? on: January 16, 2014, 03:32:44 PM
It's look good and has a charity goals

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412331

Why not just use Bitcoin? These coins aren't needed at all. Why would a charity accept Socialcoin but not Bitcoin?
1059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin will visit the Council on Foreign Relations on: January 16, 2014, 03:30:18 PM
Also point out to them that they will continue to have KYC/AML control if they do this, since colored coin issuers will have to by KYC/AML compliant when dealing with bank wires in/out.

Oh yes, they will love to see how 'Gavin' from some 'Bitcoin foundation' says "..you will continue to have...control.."

Fiat currencies are not going to die, they are the main vehicle for them to 'control' our society. Besides, they won't like/believe anyone saying Bitcoin will destroy the dollar. If they ever think that could happen, they will kill Bitcoin in 1 day.

Then we must uprise and show them who really has the power!  Cheesy
1060  Other / Off-topic / Re: NSA on: January 16, 2014, 03:21:44 PM
Unless your an improtant and rich person you have nothing to worry about. NSA dosent care about peasents.

They do when you do something the NSA don't like. Nothing is safe.

Unless you plan to do a terrorist action, otherwise why would the NSA care about when you drink cofee or when you watch porn...

Maybe they need something to discredit you with publicly.

I hate conspiracy theories, the NSA dosent care about you nor me,were nobody. stop being so paranoid.

I'm not talking about you or I and am not paranoid and it's not a conspiracy theory, and speak for yourself as I'm sure you are a nobody.

OK,and we never landed on the moon,NSA has spies in traffic lights, and they put mind control device in your food. better yet,we are all robots and you are the only human .... lol...

I don't believe any of that but obviously you're a naive fool who trusts the government to keep you safe at the expense of everybodies liberty..
