1061  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Realistic Expectations? My entry to mining on: January 15, 2014, 08:14:38 PM
Hi all,

The title may have sealed my fate with this thread Tongue I have seen a million people say "Don't go into mining!!!!!!". Well, OK, but I'd like an alternative view, because I also like the hobbiest aspect and would still start even if it's a loser...

I've recently managed to secure the parts for (not set up yet) a mining rig which'll comprise 3 x 6990s. I already have all the other parts, apart from the risers. Total outlay (not including what I paid for the bits I have, but I'm not including those anyhow - paid for a long time ago), $500 approx. I also owe a friend a (1) bitcoin (well, actually I owe him cash, but we settled on a bitcoin a long time ago, when he saw the potential more than me Tongue Still, I'll stick to my end).

So priority 1 is: Cover the $500 + 1 BTC.

Priority 2: Make a little cash if I can. To be specific, accumulate some bitcoin.

I'll do this via alt-coins if I can, scrypt mining and then exchange to BTC. I have no plans to get into the heavy-duty world of SHA256 mining.

Realistic?

Rit.

All depends on what coins you mine. What are you planning on doing?

Oh wow Smiley  but new favorite uniform seems vague. It has to be the one you posted right? Otherwise he could buy a pilot uniform.

Absolutely ..good catch Monica. It would have to be the one that I had linked before. <-nsfw

Ok, here are the terms:
You will,
include Bitcoin in some prominent visual manner
include a name card for yourself
and provide a minimum of 2 pics of the entire ensemble to be posted on bitcointalk

I will,
send you .1 BTC for you to purchase your new favorite uniform
send you .05 BTC for your profit at the time the pics are posted
and donate .15 BTC to Sean's Outpost also at the time the pics are posted
I will gladly do that but I want enough money to buy one of these lol  Grin.

You can use the .05 BTC towards whatever you want, but the difference won't come from me. I'm already buying you a great leather strap teddy and giving you a nice little profit too, so if you'll need more, then we'll need some others to step forward with some donations. I'll leave it open to that ..or I can start a donation thread if you really want that fleshlight.

Well you can try crowd-fund it if you wish, but not sure how much interest you'll get but you never know. I promise you I'll do it If I can get a fleshlight out of it Grin. Oh, and use a trusted escrow if you do whom will send the money to me and the charity upon completion of the deal  Cheesy.

LOL are you actually gonna do this? I'd donate in your quest to earn a fleshlight lol

Coinbase & Cryptsy seem legit and I trust them so far here in USA  Cool
I would send you my referral link but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that yet here

I think you can send them just not spam them everywhere or start threads with them. They're allowed in your signature.

The "No intrinsic" value argument has been discussed to death.

I believe the "Carrington event" relates to a solar storm that would knock out most electronic means of communication. How is the current banking system protected from the same event? If anything Bitcoin is more resilient as the blockchain (public ledger) is replicated across 1000s of PCs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_storm_of_1859

Thinking about this...Maybe we should go back to using an abacus??

How often does this actually happen. 1859 was quite a while ago.
1065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Huobi's trade volume real or fake? on: January 15, 2014, 07:51:24 PM
A lot of these exchanges suffer from fake trading by people trying to push up the price so it's hard to tell what's "real" or not.

Unless your an improtant and rich person you have nothing to worry about. NSA dosent care about peasents.

They do when you do something the NSA don't like. Nothing is safe.

Unless you plan to do a terrorist action, otherwise why would the NSA care about when you drink cofee or when you watch porn...

Maybe they need something to discredit you with publicly.

I hate conspiracy theories, the NSA dosent care about you nor me,were nobody. stop being so paranoid.

I'm not talking about you or I and am not paranoid and it's not a conspiracy theory, and speak for yourself as I'm sure you are a nobody.

Thanks, it will take a while to reach 0.00005500 BTC at http://www.coinbox.me
Someone have tried coinURL?

Try the ones in my signature. I've made enough to buy me a total of 300WDC(with some day-trading). coinbox.me sucks, so many captcas for so few little BTC. This week I'll get aprox. 0.015BTC from all my faucets and PTC sites. I'll trade these for altcoins and play the waiting game Grin

I don't care what people say when it pays of week after week, especially if you are smart.

You think it's worth it for 0.015BTC? How much time do you have to spend clicking on faucets and stuff.

That's good news!

Glad to know I'm not gonna be thrown in jail for holding Bitcoins.

Oh, then in that case I think everything would be fucked not just Bitcoin.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chaturbate surveying new payment options, bitcoin one. on: January 15, 2014, 06:06:07 PM
Chaturbate (NSFW) surveying new payment options, bitcoin is one of them. I think you have to be registered to take the survey. After you're signed in, go to broadcast yourself, and the link is below the video window. You don't have to be a model to take the survey. Chaturbate is a high traffic adult live cam site, and could be a signal that others are looking at bitcoin as an option. May the jokes commence Smiley.

Not heard of it but the name made me lol.

1. Carrington type event
2. no intrinsic value

comments?

Why does something have to have intrinsic value? And I don't know what the first one is.

Why bother with exchanges? I've bought and traded coins on here and as long as you use an escrow you'll be fine. These exchanges need to step up there game or people should stop using them.
1076  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Faucets and giveaways: where to start learning with few coins on: January 15, 2014, 05:29:57 PM
most of the popular ones payout, but very small amounts after many sessions. good place to start to learn about how it works. ive been paid by coinad, bitvisitor, freecoin, new one bitcoinreserve.org you get paid in hours with a coinbase account. you're not going to get rich, but you can see how it works if you don't know anyone using it. sometimes I think everyone I personally know is an imbecile.

How much have you made total?
1077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: with $2000 Which coins would you buy? on: January 15, 2014, 05:25:58 PM
I would buy one bitcoin and the rest in litecoins.
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Megacoin on: January 15, 2014, 05:23:02 PM
Clearly there are two different opinions here from polar opposites and both are valid. I wouldn't really call Megacoin a crapcoin, but the website and design is obviously influenced by Mega.  I actually thought Megacoin was part of Kim Dot com's Mega-brand up until only recently. Is it 100% defintily not anything to do with Kim Dotcom? Maybe he's just trying to create a bit of Satoshi like alure to himself. If it's not anything to do with him and he wasn't involved in legal battles of his own, he probably would've had grounds to sue.
1079  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Faucets and giveaways: where to start learning with few coins on: January 15, 2014, 05:19:29 PM
I don't think there worth it either. I tried them when I first started out and got nothing and wasted my time.
