141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC dead. The year of the Altcoin on: January 14, 2015, 12:13:37 PM
It looks like that is what is happening. We were all brought here on a dream and an ideal. BTC has rested on the laurels for too long and only the truly innovative will rise. Big money could come into this crypto space if btc gets knocked out and make a coin that would be a wet dream to all of us. There is so much bs and rigging going on in this space right now.

Why is the current dip relevant? We've been through these before several times and btc always bounces back.

We would all embrace a truly innovative crypto that the mainstream would support. Some of you big holders maybe saddened by what is going on but I am excited. Crypto isn't going anywhere. Its just changing and evolving. I am excited to see what the future holds.

And which innovative crypto is this exactly? Bitcoin still has the infrastructure in place and merchant adoption where all other cryptos fail.
142  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Scotland Is Looking to Imprison People for Offensive Tweets on: January 02, 2015, 08:02:31 PM
People have already gotten criminal records in the UK for offensive tweets and Facebook statues, this isn't really anything new.

To me it all depends on the severity. Should you be imprisoned for calling the Prime Minister or Queen a cunt? No. Should you be arrested for making death threats or threatening to rape someone. Quite possibly, yes.
143  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-01-02]CA - ChangeTip Appears To be Working on Facebook & Slack Integration on: January 02, 2015, 07:59:10 PM
Facebook integration would be a big thing. cool!  Smiley

It's huge. If people see their friends tipping each other it could encourage them to get involved or at least pique their interest.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Atms on: December 21, 2014, 11:39:16 AM
We don't have any bitcoin ATM here, so I guess I won't be able to use one even if I wanted to.

Where do you live. You might get one in the future. Maybe you could buy one? lol. Some are quite cheap. I may even purchase one at some point.
145  Other / Off-topic / Re: How often do you check bitcoin price? on: December 21, 2014, 11:37:02 AM
I rarely bother checking it because I already know it's going down.
i have the same feeling these days.

Ha. Same really. I used to get so excited when the price was going up, then so disappointed when it went down. Now I just don't really bother checking because I don't really care about the price today as I'm hodling my coins for the future.
146  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Old BTC wallets on: December 08, 2014, 04:54:35 PM
Why would you want these and how would you even transfer over a address to someone?

Everyone is on the clam ride it seems Tongue

What does clam ride mean?
147  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-12-07] CD: Bitcoin Remittance Services Should Leave the 'Bitcoin' Part Out on: December 08, 2014, 04:52:31 PM
Hmm. I don't care whether they 'leave out the bitcoin part' or whether consumers are aware of it in their transaction as long as it's used and it lowers the fees involved.
148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does "Satoshi" remain anonymous? on: November 24, 2014, 11:17:53 AM
from reading a few post here i now doubt satoshi cared abut getting rich but more about changing things in the world he thinks needs to be change.

Or maybe he's holding on to the coins to become super rich? Perhaps he will become the worlds first trillionaire and rule the world.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do regular people think about Bitcoin? Awesome video with funny responses. on: November 24, 2014, 11:15:53 AM
Pretty nice video
now I 'am wondering about you guys of what you think about the old guy who said "people sitting and manipulating the price" Shocked
I liked that old dude the most. He has some basic understanding, but later he says, he is just to old to look further into it.
But he is right about manipulation. Everything on free markets is manipulated these days.

The price was manipulated with fake trades on exchanges, but that's largely irrelevant as most things can be manipluated. The banks manipulate currencies and traders manipulate stocks and shares.
150  Other / Off-topic / Re: Am I the only girl on here? : ( on: November 03, 2014, 11:46:02 AM

Are you sure it was just that? Half of your posts come across as trolling, so it wouldn't surprise me if you were banned from other forums.

That's the thing, see. If people don't like something that I write because of cognitive dissonance, they immediately repeat "troll! Omg please ban him, he's nearly convincing me that my views on a certain idea are false, therefore I must write "Troll" everywhere!"

do you even know that "trolling" is? Hint: It's not an internet argument

For the firs time ever I agree with awesome31312 on something. He does come across as trolling quite a bit but he's got a valid point this time.

But this is a classic troll argument. If you can't make your argument without coming across as a troll then you're not very good at stating your case, or at least need to look at how you make arguments. There's a big difference between someone trolling and someone making a valid point and it's easy to differentiate between the two.
151  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: November 03, 2014, 11:38:05 AM
the bitcoin price is decreasing, but the btc rewards shou be indecreased?

No of course , because  here in the forum we are thinking the payment (or better the price) in bitcoin not in the FIAT value.

That's up to each individual campaign to decide. Some deals have risen and lowered their payments in the past due to price increases/decreases, but it can be a pain to keep changing them.

Miscellaneous: It appears that the campaign may be closed to new participants. See this post.

It is, but I think they may accept some Hero memebers if you ask as that seems to have happened recently.

In theory it should push the price up but you never can tell with btc. I'm planning to hold onto my btc for a few years anyway so hopefully they will have risen considerably before then, but most importantly I'm looking for massive merchant adoption as well because I'd really like to spend them on things I want or need as opposed to just cash them out.
153  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-10-22] Telegraph: CeX to adopt Bitcoin across the UK on: October 23, 2014, 10:43:33 AM
Wow, that's great news. I have quite a lot of things to trade in there and was going to get store credit like I normally do but I might go for bitcoin now as if I hold it for a bit it'll likely turn into a decent investment so eve more bang for my buck.
154  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] (Staff Only) Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: October 23, 2014, 10:40:26 AM
I personally prefer the fixed rate deals for numerous reasons, especially if the per post is going to be a mere 0.0006 per post.

I agree that there should be very clear, specific rules as to what posts will be paid and which posts will not be paid (I don't see any reason why users can't post in the off topic section for example, as long as they understand they will not be paid for such posts). You should have multiple people (it would probably be too large a job for just one person) check users' post throughout the month and keep track of how many "payable" posts they have made (this would also eliminate the logistical issue of receiving 100's of PM's around the same time each month trying to get everyone paid) every day or every week, allowing for payments to be made automatically.

As for payment structure I might suggest, say a flat rate of .05 for the first 50 posts, then an additional .02375 for at least 75 posts total, then an additional .045 for at least 125 posts total, then an additional .0008 for each post above 125 posts. This would give users a disincentive to spam as they get a less amount on a per post basis after each threshold is met.

In the above example: posts
1 - 50 would be paid an effective rate of .001 per post
51 - 75 would be paid an effective rate of .00095 per post
76 - 125 would be paid an effective rate of .009 per post
126+ would be paid a rate of .008

If you wanted to pay higher levels more then you could add say 20% to hero members, and 25% to legendary/staff members.

I think this scheme (or a similar scheme) would allow you to remain competitive with other advertisers, as the rate for the first 50 posts is on par with the competition, while allowing/encouraging members to post more then only 50 posts, giving you a maximum level of exposure, while also not breaking your advertising budget.

Why should posts in the off-topic section not be counted? I also don't see how it would be feasable for whoiever is running this campaign to deduct them. It would be a nightmare. The pay scheme changing with the amount of posts you do would also further complicate things for everyone. Just either do a simple pay per post or fixed rate.
155  Economy / Services / Re: Silver Wallets Signature Campaign on: October 19, 2014, 12:35:09 PM
Hey. I'd really like to participate in this if I can reserve a slot as my current deal runs out in a few days, but I was wondering something. When you send the wallets out what value will you be putting on the customs form? I live in the UK and if you put a high value on it and don't mark it as a gift/promotional item I'll get hit with a big customs charge. If you marked it as a gift which technically it would be since there is no purchase and maybe put the value as just the current price of the silver then I'd probably be fine and this all depends on whether I'd like to partake in this campaign. Thanks in advance.

Can I get a response to this? I'd like to know before so I know which deal to commit to. Thanks.

159  Economy / Speculation / Re: November Rush? on: October 17, 2014, 11:35:15 AM
What's up with people talking about "november rush"?

Didn't the price skyrocket in November of last year? Maybe that's what they're referring to.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins are not tokens on: October 17, 2014, 11:34:10 AM
bitcoins are not coins, but a token is a better term.

remember a token is not like a casino chip (round piece of plastic) or a supermarket coupon (piece of paper)

a token has more meaning then that.

google 'session token' for instance
.. screw it ill spell it out for you

Quote
session token is a piece of data that is used in network communications (often over HTTP) to identify a session, a series of related message exchanges.

so bitcoins are closer to being described as a token rather than a coin

Exactly, I don't think referring to it either a token or a coin is a bad thing, but I prefer to just see it for what it is and that's a decentralized digital money.
