Im surprised not to see WalletBit under wallets. WalletBit is an eWallet and merchant solutions website. We have the "What is Bitcoin?" video on our homepage and are more than willing to help new users understand more about Bitcoin. At the very least I think we should have a link on the site.

Hello,
No, not a scam lol.  Don't worry we got thick skin, you didn't hurt our feelings.  I will go ahead and give you some current information.  Currently any new orders on the lightning miners will ship out around 4-5 days from now, and have a transit time of 2-3 days.  The specs on the ASIC based miners is from our Beta testing on 12 different miners.  We averaged the spec's to get as close to the exact figure as possible.  So even though we post 4GH/s you may get around 3.3 at times.  Temperature has been quite the element in results from the miner too, while we do recommend the fan it is not necessary.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to email us back.

This is an email back from them. asking for more info.

Yes, still got to be careful about possibly being a scam, until other people have seen the actual device.

Phil

I sent them an email as well and the response I got was basically the same as above... 4-5days, 12 beta testers etc etc.  I also asked about international CC orders (they're in the USA and I am in Canada) and the email states (paraphrasing here) that their CC processor does not process international CC and that all international orders are handled through MtGox...

Million to one shot this is not a scam.  Curious to see how they respond to BittenBob's request!

There was no response...

I have emailed asking to see the working units in 4-5 days. If they are legit then there should be no problem with letting me visit their HQ and see them mining.

If anyone is still thinking of ordering, at least wait until I have verified they are real and working. Until then you can assume it is a scam.

From their mining hardware page - (Production ends March 25, 2013)

They are saying their numbers are based on simulation (ie nothing has been produced yet) then say they are shipping in 4-5 days. Then their website says production wont be done until the 25th of March.

They can't even keep their story straight. My guess is they are hoping to bring in a few grand from unsuspecting bitcoiners. Just say no!
65  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Lightning miner ! 4ghs 80 usd Wow on: March 03, 2013, 06:13:02 PM
No, it's not worth a try.  *Especially* after all the money you have lost...

There is zero chance this is legit.  So many red flags that there is no other possibility.  Amateurish attempts to make it seem legit like bogus unboxing videos that contain references to the "old website" trying to explain away the fact that site was just registered.

Save your money, stay away!

The whole reference to a previous website that none of us have heard of just adds to the suspicion. If any of those testimonials were real then we would have heard about this a long long time ago. Stay away and save your money.

Obvious scam is obvious.
66  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon URGENT ISSUE: both of my avalon do not work any more on: March 02, 2013, 12:00:14 AM
One thing I can think of that might cause both to fail at the same time that doesn't have to do with software is a power surge. I have no direct experience but I can imagine the power quality in China might not be the best. Surges from industrial equipment turning on can damage all electronics. The power supply in theory should provide some protection but not always. Do you live in an industrial area?

I just asked through the http://support.walletbit.com

This results in:

"Invalid email or password"...despite being logged in to walletbit with the very same email and password.

Okay fine, I guess stupidly you must set up another account to get support. I sent this information over a week ago and have heard nothing but crickets. Roll Eyes

Support accounts are separate from WalletBit accounts. I hope your ticket was answered to your satisfaction.
69  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch#2 Re-open 2/18 on: February 19, 2013, 01:31:34 PM
Order 1440, what a pain in the arse walletbit was...!

Why do you say that?
70  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch#2 Re-open 2/18 on: February 19, 2013, 06:21:45 AM
I placed, an order and it said I don't have to pay through walletbit.  Is there an address on the Avalon store I am supposed to send payment to?

When I click on Pay for order on Avalon Store it takes me to walletbit.

Try to go back to the order, then to walletbit, then "pay as guest" and see what happens.
Perhaps someone else did this and can give better detail.

By the time I figured out to try it as a guest checkout it had gone out of stock (not sure how it removed my cart even though I had 9 minutes left).  Fuck it - it wasn't meant to be.  Three attempts to get Avalon - each a fail  Roll Eyes

Try going to the main page when you are logged in.  Then on the right hand side go to the My account link, and see if there are any unpaid orders that show up.

I see the order but it's not open, says cancelled even though I never clicked a cancel link on walletbit.

That is unfortunate you didn't get a chance to buy one. We are working on a new checkout process that won't involve integration with WalletBit Secure Card. This should prevent any such confusion in the future. If for some reason not all 600 were sold they may be released in a smaller sale at a time of Avalon's choosing. In other words there still might be a chance. If not, maybe you are right and it just wasn't meant to be.
71  Economy / Service Announcements / [ANN] WalletBit Introduces it's WooCommerce Plugin on: February 15, 2013, 06:09:46 PM
WalletBit has just created the most advanced Bitcoin payment plugin to date with WooCommerce. Built from the ground up for eCommerce, WooCommerce is a superior choice for high demand shopping environments. This is why we have decided not just to upgrade our servers but introduce this new payment plugin in time for the next Avalon ASIC sale. The previous sale was the single Bitcoin shopping rush to date and with WooCommerce we are ready for that rush again.

From the good people at WooCommerce:

"Transform your WordPress website into a thorough-bred online eCommerce store. Delivering enterprise-level quality and features whilst backed by a name you can trust. Say hello to the WooCommerce eCommerce plugin.

WooCommerce is built by the experienced folk at WooThemes who also offer premium eCommerce themes and extensions to further enhance your shopfront"

http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/

WalletBit is the most affordable way to accept Bitcoins worldwide. Pay only 0.89% to accept Bitcoins and receive deposits to your bank account for as low as +1.86% (2.75% total). No other payment provider offers as many currency options. With 42 currencies and over 50 supported countries you can accept Bitcoins anywhere. Providing safe, secure and reliable Bitcoin transactions since July 2011, WalletBit is a name you can trust.

Having created a walletbit account, I can login and see:

I assume this means that my order is in order.

It would certainly appear so. If you would like to double check and have WalletBit send a confirmation email you can contact our support.

73  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A letter from Avalon on: February 13, 2013, 06:05:13 AM
Really??? This is news to me. I've had a partial payment open with then, and have received ZERO replies to my Avalon support ticket nor emails. Seriously guys you have like 100-200 people to respond to, 1 day should be plenty to handle this.

All partially paid orders from 2012-02-02 have a deadline of 2013-02-13 17:00 EST to complete payment. All orders which have not been paid in full will be refunded to the sending address unless otherwise instructed. Payment instructions can be obtained and return addresses can be given to WalletBit support at http://support.walletbit.com.

Please contact WalletBit support immediately.
74  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Walletbit, please refund my Avalon asic order on: February 13, 2013, 04:55:21 AM
Any refunds would have to be processed by Avalon and all payments are instantly passed onto Avalon (as any merchant). WalletBit doesn't hold the funds from yours or any other order.

Its also probably a good time to review our terms of service.

How do we confirm our order through walletbit?

http://support.walletbit.com

What about those of us who have sent the full sum and have not received either a refund or a confirmation?

WalletBit support should be able to look into your order and provide confirmation. Orders after February 2nd were processed correctly and you would not have received an email confirmation. Please refrain from contacting support about your order until after the orders from February 2nd have been dealt with (~24 hours).

WalletBit has since since implemented email confirmations for all orders which provide one. This means all future orders will receive an email confirmation.

77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A way to promote Bitcoin on: February 11, 2013, 12:43:38 AM
shouting out free money, devalues it a bit. but wording it like

"ok i have put my own money into this experiment. so you can see how it works" then hand out the small denominations and at the end say "feel free to keep it trade it with others at your leisure"

its all about wording, but the idea of just giving a little bit to someone to try it out themselves works.

I gave half a bitcoin to everyone who showed up to the first Toronto Bitcoin meetup. It is still the one that had the highest turnout.

Coincidence?
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next Thursday I will have 20 minutes to present bitcoin to 150 businessmen/women on: February 10, 2013, 08:46:57 PM

Beware, WalletBit will also take a 0.89% fee for a simple deposit of BTC in a wallet hosted on their server !

yes, and they contributed to jacking up my attempted pre-order of batch #2 for an Avalon b/c of a site malfunction after getting up at the crack of dawn.  seriously pissed me off.

Dum(b)as
BitPay charges 0.99%. I don't see anyone complaining about that...

The Avalon pre-orders from Saturday can be completed and you can preserve your place in the order queue but Avalon has decided its only fair if you pay the same as everyone else paid at the time. This has nothing to do with WalletBit but I do agree its fair. Refunds have been offered to anyone who doesn't want to pay the same as everyone else and you can have an equal chance to compete for orders once they open again. If you don't like it, then you need help beyond what anyone here can offer.

i don't understand what this means.  i'm happy to pay the $1500 per Avalon if i only could.  but most ppl were getting charged $15 that morning.  some decided to consider it a deposit but most like me were confused and decided not to pay an incorrect amount for fear of losing it into a black hole which given how the order process was so screwed up is not an unreasonable action.

are you saying my order is still in the queue and available for me to reserve with a full payment?

If there was a partial payment, there is an option to complete your order and still maintain your place in the queue. If there was no payment then you have to wait for orders to open again.

The mere act of depositing bitcoins into a hosted wallet sounds a lot more like the service Blockchain.info provides for free than it sounds like the service of acting as a payment intermediary (calculating exchange rates, sending payment pages to the customer, notifying the web site when the payment is confirmed) which BitPay charges 0.99%.

WalletBit does all those things and more. The functionality is the same between personal and business accounts at WalletBit. This means everyone access to all of our features. This includes bank deposits in 42 currencies, a mobile wallet (WalletBit Mobile) and much more. We don't charge any fees for withdrawal unless you want to cash out to your bank. At a combined 2.75% we are the most affordable place to turn Bitcoins into cash worldwide.
