I heard the Australian Women's team won their match, but that's all I've heard so far.

No Timelord, it was a New Zealand double!

The women won 31-21 from Australia and the men just beat Ireland 14-17. Ireland now
are only 2 points behind Argentina and New Zealand in 3rd in the pool with only 1 round remaining.

The finalists of the Champions Cup have been decided for the Final in 3 weeks, it will be
Leinster v Toulouse. Leinster held on to win at home against Northampton, only
scoring 5 points in the second half but defense held up 20-17. Toulouse were too strong
for Harlequins 31-21.

The 7's finals are under way with the womens 3rd place match live now, France have
beaten Fiji by a whopping 7-29.

Next up is the final New Zealand v Australia, this is for number 1 and 2 positions overall.
New Zealand are favourites but I think a small bet on Australia might pay off @ 3.15?

Later its the mens finals:
3rd place final between Great Britain and Australia
Grand Final between  Ireland and New Zealand - have to back Ireland for the win!

Argentina finished up in 5th beating South Africa, I'm not sure if Ireland beat New Zealand
do they take the top spot from Argentina?
63  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN AT 63K. What should we expect moving forward? on: May 05, 2024, 08:56:26 AM
Woke up to see BTC at 63k this cold Saturday morning, although I'm excited but I'm kinda skeptical and have questions.

Really? Are you excited by bitcoin being 10% down from its ATH? Is that it? I see it as a day like any other, but maybe for some people, specially those who bought in the recent dip at 58k it's something to celebrate.

Quote

I would be with Iamcrypticguy on the outlook and generally of a view of the
'Glass half full". I would rather see the market rise than fall further from where it was.

It might be 10% down on the ATH but its now about 8% closer than it was before this
thread.

Well we do not know where the price of Bitcoin is going to go to. Bitcoin price of 63k is not a price I did think it would be after the halving we just did.
But this is not something we need to be concerned for. I do think we are still going to see a big 'bull run' before the end of the year. I do not think we are going to see price of 100k for each Bitcoin but the new all time high I think will happen.

The previous halvings showed that directly after the event the market falls and then
recovers to break the ATH. I expected this to happen which I'm sure others did too.

Aaand the new Madrid Open WTA champ is Iga Swiatek! She defeated last year's Madrid champion Aryna Sabalenka 7:5, 4:6, 7:6! That was one hell of a match and Aryna had 3 championship points during the match!

Madrid ATP tournament is one of the weirdest of all time: a lot of players have withdrawn including the semi-finalist Jiri Lehecka.

Just saw the highlights of the womens final, that was a great tennis match, very
close which is what we want to see from the two top seeds and what the organisers
want for the tournament.

On the mens side the tournament has been a very weird one. The commentators at
one stage after Lehecka retired said that this scenario happened before, a finalist
getting 3 walkovers to reach the final.

Rublev is favourite at 1.35 which I think is right.
65  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN AT 63K. What should we expect moving forward? on: May 04, 2024, 02:00:32 PM
Will price create another ATH from here or is this a dead cat bounce? Let's share opinions below.
The crypto market is currently not good, so whatever you want to do with crypto, especially Bitcoin, you need to think carefully, as much additional information as possible is really needed in the current situation.

You need to know that Bitcoin has now passed a new ATH and halving, so many experts and investors are having difficulty guessing the direction of Bitcoin's development at this time, but many people are speculating and predicting Bitcoin for some time may be one or the other the next two years there is no further movement after what has happened, as you mentioned $63k or $70k, overall the downward direction is most likely, but experts do not say how much.

Honestly, for me the best step to take right now is trading, I see many people don't think about the new ATH anymore, they take advantage and follow the current crypto market movements, to get good results in the crypto world.

Yea as ever its a great time for traders but not everyone has the knowledge or time
to make trades but buying the dips in a bull market should always pay off really.
Fortunately I was able to buy at just below $58k.

The rise to $63k is just a sign to me that we are in the post halving bull market and
should be doing so for the next 10 to 12 months, that means rising....with pull
backs along the way just like we had recently. These are perfect conditions for traders.

Adam Reynolds out for 3 months - thats a massive blow to the Broncos. That was a very
costly match with the Roosters, losing 2 players who will be out for months.

Over at the Rugby 7's its play off time.

In the Mens quarter finals its Argentina v Ireland, thats a massive match to come later today
for a chance at 1st and 2nd spot.

In the Womens again Ireland have a tough quarter final draw against table toppers Australia,
Ireland are MASSIVE outsiders at 9.20.

At least both Irish sides are guaranteed points for being in the top 8
67  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 04, 2024, 06:59:31 AM
Thats a dream final for the tournament organisers for the womens side, the two top seeded
womens players. I think I'd fancy Swiatek to win this, she has won all her previous matches
much easier than Sabalenka has.

The mens final however is a strange one, unbelievably Felix AA has another walkover into
the final after Lehecka damaged his back last night. In the post match interview Felix had mixed
emotions, he is happy to be in the final but has only played 1 full match to get here, Rublev has
to be favourite purely by being "match fit"

Medvedev withdrew after losing the 1st set, he told the physio that he couldn't move properly and it was visible in late games of the 1st set.
A weird tournament overall, the best we can hope for in the final is 7th seed Rublev, basically against an unseeded player considering that Lehecka was no. 30.

It seems it will be an 'anybody can win this' Roland Garros. Top seeds injured or out of form, a lot of players between 20-50th spot with really good momentum behind them. One to watch for sure.

Maybe this is another player saving himself for Rome?
Felix AA gets another parachute into a semi final against Lehecka, thats good fortune.

Its a strange semi final really to have all the other top seeds out and two players nobody
would have bet on to reach this far into the tournament.

The Madrid Open is not considered as important as grand slams that's why the top players prefer their health and fitness over winning the game.
Andrey Rulev is in great form and is now the top seeded player in the semifinals defeating Alcaraz in quaterfinals. He'll be fighting Taylor Fritz which could be a tense match but I believe he'll come victorious to get another title to his name. On another semifinals, Lehecka would play against Felix Auger-Aliassime, the later one had an walkover without playing while Lehecka got a straight win so he would most probably prevail.

You were right! he beat Fritz and continues his great run of form, he deserves his final
position TBH and hopefully he has found a winning approach to his play.

The same goes for Felix AA if he makes to the final, hopefully he has found a
more effective type of style to his play.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is you research process for events like bitcoin halving ? on: May 02, 2024, 05:37:46 PM
Researching the halving depends on what your "end game" is.

If you plan on HODL'ing for the long term there really isnt anything to research other than
when its going to happen, what block height. HODL'ing long term means your belief is that
Bitcoin will continue to increase in value.

There are so many places to get your information regarding a halving. If you want past market
trends pre and post halving the easiest way I suppose would be to determine the dates they
happened . . .

Quote
1st Bitcoin halving date — November 28, 2012 — Reward down: 50 BTC to 25 BTC

2nd Bitcoin halving date — July 9, 2016 — Reward down:  25 BTC to 12.5 BTC

3rd Bitcoin halving date — May 11, 2020 — Reward down:  12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC

4th Bitcoin halving date — April 19, 2024 — Reward down: 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC

swanbitcoin.com

then cross reference these with coinmarketcap.com . . .

Here is the first one

During the week, the Rabbitohs have sacked their coach as they have had just one win this season.  Tonight, the Rabbitohs are going to be up against the Panthers who as we know are firming up as finals contenders yet again.

Another big score difference Rabbitohs 12 - 42 Panthers. They go up to second spot  . . . temporarily.

It looks like Wayne Bennett is going in to replace Jason Demetriou. I remember Timelord saying something
about Bennett a few years ago. Anyway he is back in to try and turn the ship around.

Big match coming up tomorrow for both the Broncos and Roosters, Broncos are favourite at home.
Wests Tigers need a big game away to the Bulldogs and are big underdogs @ 3.35

Big game too for the Dolphins to try and stay up when they play the Cowboys, you have them to win
and they are underdogs away to the Cowboys.

72  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 02, 2024, 10:59:41 AM
Many surprises during this tournament, since all favourites (top players) are out now...
Only Medvedev (3) is still on route for the title...

Sinner is out due hip injury/pain will not play against FAA.
Personally I think this was a very easy match for him... nice chance for FAA to try to reach the final of this ATP 1000.
I hope I will have the chance to see him play in Roma Roll Eyes during Internazionali...

Is there a chance Sinner is taking a precautionary measure to withdraw here to minimise the
risk of getting injured before Rome?
I heard him being interviewed during the week and he said that the Hip thing is something he
has had for a while, sometimes its worse than other days.

Nice parachute into the semi final against either Medvedev or Lehecka, TBH I dont know who
to pick for a win of this match, maybe n over 22.5 bet here.

Big day yesterday for Nadal!

Lehecka won in 2 sets. The match was high level with fantastic tennis from both.

After the match there was a tribute to Nadal as it was his last Madrid tournament.

The surprise of the day for me was Felix AA getting past Ruud, the canadian is playing
fantastic tennis ATM, its kind of out of the blue though and is rewarded with a match
against Sinner!

Yes it is hard to predict who might come out on top of this tournament. I thought that Alcaraz would never have such a thriller against Struff and I thought Ruud would be playing better than that. It's weird, it is back and forth for Ruud. Gets destroyed in the Monte Carlo Masters final against Tsitsipas on clay, then destroys Tsitsipas in the Barcelona final on clay. Now as the Barcelona winner loses the game against Felix AA. Tennis became much more unpredictable ever since the three GOATS have either retired or reduced the number of tournaments they play.

We will have to be patient to find out whether there is another GOAT in the making, but even Alcaraz had his bad moments already. As of now, the 24 GS titles of Djokovic seem to be impossible to reach for everyone who is around at the moment.

On Ruud, TBH I dont think he is at the same level as Sinner or Alcaraz even on clay.

It also does look like things are becoming a little more unpredictable compared to
even 2 or 3 years ago.

OP is either hurting or feeling his mistake on getting into Meme and $hitcoins...or both!

Its standard that the replies to such a question are varied and will be after my post because
nobody can tell what happens in the future.

We have a general long term view or expectation for Bitcoin for the future which is up
but for short term anything is possible.

Meme and $hitcoins expect + or - 100x

76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World Of Crypto Has Changed in Last 6 Years. on: April 30, 2024, 05:16:22 PM
just figure i share thoughts on crypto world, it sure has changed in last 6 years, where it used to be the free market and we could do as we please, with trades, buying and selling crypto

now its so different now

as the governments in the world have gotten involved and trying to make it harder in crypto
as in if you need to trade out to fiat ,

u have to pay taxes and lots of it
Governments are cracking down on exchanges and regulations etc.

in one way it does prove crypto has value and here to stay
There is more adoption going on. Slowly but it is happening,.

Do you think all this will make people to drop out of crypto and leave it to the people who have high wealth only?

Or will the average person still stay in the markets?

but its too bad that the powers that be are making it difficult

ur thoughts?

It's really wrong to say the government make people harder to trade crypto!

Either you use centralized exchange, P2P or DEX, there's no big difference, verifying your account didn't take a long time.

Although the government are tightening their regulations and tax your capital gains, it won't take 100% of your profit.

Hence, there's no reason Average Joe will leave the market, even you didn't invest in cryptocurrencies, the government will tax your personal income and capital gains from other assets.

I agree also that governments applying tax and regulations will turn people off getting into Bitcoin.
It is so accessible to most of the world with whatever amount of FIAT you want to use and no
middle man or investment company being involved.

In a messed up way of thinking and a way that goes against what we think about governments
applying tax regulations it means that they are happy to let their citizens get involved because
they get their tax cut from the profits.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suddenly I'm curious, do I need to pay taxes on Bitcoin income? on: April 30, 2024, 09:14:52 AM
I asked chatgpt, and it answered that Bitcoin transactions are generally subject to tax, just like other forms of asset transactions.

Personally I never ask chatgpt anything, I would rather converse with Humans

Tax requirements may vary depending on the laws and regulations of the country where you are located

Exactly, you dont mention which country you are in so its impossible to answer your question in the
thread title accurately.

It depends on your country and its Tax treatment of Bitcoin, I think most EU countries for example treat
Bitcoin "investments" and profits from that as Capital Gains Tax.

There are exceptions to those EU countries like Malta, Portugal and Germany, I think if you are resident
for over 12 months there is minimal to zero Tax on profits from Bitcoin.

Semi Final stage to two big tournaments coming up at the weekend

Investec Champions Cup

LeinsterIreland v Northampton SaintsEngland - Leinster are big favourites with a home stadium of 80,000+ spectators! @ 1.12

Stade ToulousainFrance v HarlequinsEngland - Toulouse are also bigger favourites at home @ 1.05

EPCR Challenge Cup

Hollywoodbets SharksSouth Africa v ASM Clermont AuvergneFrance - No odds available yet on this one.

GloucesterEngland v Benetton TrevisoItaly - The English side are obvious favourites against a surprising Italian side @ 1.43
Benetton are priced at 3.00 - Just for the fun I'm doing a small bet on the Italians. They have been fairly decent
this year so far on both the Challenge Cup ad the United Cup, surprising really and kind of gives a glimmer of
hope for future Italian Rugby.

I believe its because he/she/they practiced forward planning right from the first
piece of code! They knew exactly what had to be done.

For someone who could create the entity that is Bitcoin there were added considerations
namely to remain anonymous. Because Bitcoin was going to be disruptive and revolutionary
it was prudent to remain anonymous and to walk away from the project at a certain time.

Everything to date has remained successful for Satoshi.

On the Womens side I'm surprised to see names come up that have been absent for a
while especially in the round of 16 stage,  Haddad Maia, Soribes Tormo and Jabeur.
Ons Jabeur being able to beat Leylah Fernadez is an encouraging thing for her career so far it was not an impressive performance and today facing Jelena Ostapenko will be the next tough match for her.
Soribes Tormo was the most surprising, but facing Swiatek I'm not sure she will put up a tough fight, the three previous meetings she lost in straight sets to Swiatek, but the crowd will be on her side.

Well it was easy enough for Ons beating Ostapenko, 0-6 and 4-6. Same for Swiatek,
easy day out even when broken in her first game....and immediately broken back,
6-1 and 6-0. Haddad Maia also got the better of Sakkari.

Quarter final time tomorrow with Swiatek v Haddad Maia, I cant see Swiatek losing this though.

Ons has a tricky match up against Keys, I dont see odds on this one yet, hard to pick
a winner.

Just watching Sinner v Kotov and its in the second set with Sinner not having an easy
one. He looks to have a problem with his hip for the last few games which is a bit worrying
but he is looking good now to win the match after breaking back Kotov.
