561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys, what's the best Bitcoin wallet for PC these days? on: November 29, 2023, 09:32:07 PM
There’s the electrum wallet which is one of the best software available. But if you’re looking for something safe then I will advise you go for something like a cold wallet either the hardware wallets or an airgapped wallet. An airgapped wallet can be set up with electrum but be sure that the device has never come online before and would not. It is also worth mentioning that window OS are not much advisable compared to Linux because of malware issues usually too frequent with Windows.

another good PC wallet for bitcoin is the bitcoin core; which is suitable for privacy sake and sparrow wallet

I agree with the hardware wallet route, particularly Trezor accessed via their Web App,
there is also a downloadable desktop app too.

I know everyone has vouched for Electrum but I think a Trezor offers a bit more flexibility
in that the wallet is portable and nothing is actually stored on the PC eventhough accessing
the wallet is through the desktop.

Yea, its a possibility that there may be a requirement to introduce different clothing and
head/neck protection but as you say even the American Football game suffers from concussions
and head injuries.

I wonder if we would see the game turning into "Profesional Tag Rugby" or in other words,
a non-contact sport, although I'm not sure how the hell that would work.

Whatever happens there will be odds available on all games regardless of rule changes.
563  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Keep Emotions in Check and Maintain Strategy as a beginner on: November 28, 2023, 07:38:08 PM
As many have said already, Education and patience are the keys to controlling emotions when trading.
The education factor includes understanding the Bitcoin market, its 4 year cycle for example, understanding
the trading signals and how to read charts.

Patience will teach you not to make the wrong trades and the wrong time, this goes hand in hand with the
educating points above. just me 2satoshis

I would also like to say that as a beginner at trading it will almost be certain that you will fail in the short
term because beginners have no experience.

Here is an article from 2019 which we can be certain is still relevant to today, its an interesting read.

Day Trading Bitcoin: Why 95% of Traders Lose Money and Fail

Rugby union players’ legal action over head injuries to be heard in high court

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/nov/19/rugby-union-players-legal-action-over-head-injuries-to-be-heard-in-high-court

Heard this on the radio earlier this evening and wondered what this will eventually mean
for the game? There are over 200 players Men and Women from both Union and League
disciplines who are taking this legal action against the governing bodies for not protecting
players.

Quote
Richard Boardman, the lawyer leading the case, said: “We believe there has been a systematic
failure by the rugby governing bodies to protect players not just from concussions but also subconcussions.
This is still a real and serious threat to the sport and unless immediate and substantial changes are introduced,
current and future generations will end up with the same chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and other
neurological impairments.”

Will we see more and more cases taken from around the world in the future?
Will there be more rule changes to follow this case to try and prevent head injuries?
Will there be so many changes that the game will be unrecognisable in the future?
565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 28, 2023, 08:13:07 AM
...
On Sinner, this was definitely his best year and hopefully he can make another step
forward in performance, maybe enough to take a grand slam? What is everyones
expectations of this?

this is just matter of time. in my opinion... he has all characteristics that a top tennis player need to have.
bear in mind, Sinner was a perfect unknown player 5 years ago... now he is a top 10 player....
If he continue with that pace he can achieve a lot of success.

Italian players have been hosted in a lot of Italian TV programs (obviously online connection...)
https://video.corriere.it/sport/pietrangeli-non-mi-sembra-carino-declinare-invito-mattarella-io-ci-vado/05ebd67e-8d41-11ee-b4a7-347e05f6b33b
Meanwhile Nicola Pietrangeli continue to criticize the whole team ( Roll Eyes ) this time because Italian players decide to go on holiday and "refused" to meet Italian President of Repubblic (Mattarella) .
I don't think this is a good way to support a team/players, but they probably don't need useless praise Wink

What I like about him is that he is able to keep his emotions under control which
means he isnt shouting out loud after he wins of loses a point. This also is good
to keep his opponents in the dark as regards how he is feeling mentally or regards
fitness.

I also like how he is building his performances from year to year. His management team
are doing a fantastic job and they obviously have a process and realistic goals they
want to achieve, being now #4 they have to be thinking grand slams for 2024...
566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 27, 2023, 09:43:53 PM
Yup, and after 47 years they have had a long wait. TBH I thought it might have gone to
a doubles decider but it was a fairly convincing 2 match win. Well done to team Italy,
I'll bet bitbollo is delighted!

TBH eventhough there is little to play for its still a prestigious event for the players, in
what is an individual sport, to be able to play as a team brings a new dimension and a great
way to end the year.

Looking at the players, Italy has indeed the best chance to win but there is no real value in it, the odd for Italy to win is too low for me. I think the end result will be 2-1 for Italy with Sinner winning his singles match and than together with Sonego, he also has a high chance of winning the double match.

Yep, Italy won but this is "only" and historical cup.

I don't like this cup because there is not real value in winning it, but whaterver always a win.

No not much value in it.

ahahhaha yeah it's an awesome moment for all Italians Wink
the last david cup wins by Italy team was achieved on 1976 so this is a great result.
It's nice also to see that a lot of people have interest in this sport and are not talking only about football!

Funny video below.
https://video.corriere.it/sport/pietrangeli-sale-podio-coppa-davis-sinner-gela-lo-sguardo/c8fe5df8-8d19-11ee-b4a7-347e05f6b33b?vclk=video3CHP%7Cpietrangeli-sale-podio-coppa-davis-sinner-gela-lo-sguardo
Pietrangeli was the captain of Italian team on 1976. He declared several times comments "against" Sinner, probably the worst
"he need 2 lifes to achieve mine success"... Sinner's face is the best answer Wink

OMG, that is super arrogant by Nicola Pietrangeli, what he said was totally not what
Jannik Sinner would ever say. I can see why Jannik had that cold dark stare for Nicola.

On Sinner, this was definitely his best year and hopefully he can make another step
forward in performance, maybe enough to take a grand slam? What is everyones
expectations of this?
567  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Javier Milei wins presidency in Argentina on: November 27, 2023, 09:29:01 AM
What is very surprising about Javier Milei is that he has only entered the world of politics since 2021 or since he was elected as a national representative representing the City of Buenos Aires for La Libertad Avanza (wikipedia). And then now he has been elected President. I think this is really a great achievement. But looking at his educational background and who he was before entering the world of politics, he, who is better known as an economic expert, because it maybe he should indeed be able to make economic improvements there. Although there may be a big change there and of course various pros and cons will occur. But all this seems to have to be done. Because inflation is starting to get out of control and has reached high inflation levels (hundreds of percent) of course it will require slightly unusual handling. He is famous for his quite eccentric style. Maybe the leadership style will be a little the same. To be honest, this reminds me a little of the president of the Republic of Indonesia who also had an eccentric or distinctive style and later in his leadership he still maintained that style and apparently this also made him closer to the people. And now in the country where I work, namely Indonesia, the economy seems to be strengthening. In fact, several large mines that were originally controlled by foreign investors have now managed to have their shares fully controlled by this country. So, when I saw Javier Milei's style, I immediately remembered the characteristics that also exist in the president of the country where I work now.

Thats a very good synopsis overall and a good comparison to Indonesia, your points
about having or taking a different approach to addressing the massive inflation are valid
and as OgNasty points out above he has already start making moves.

I think most people are afraid or concerned about extremes in politics either right or
left wing but maybe its the extreme right which will reshape the country in
this case for the better.
568  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Restart, is it a good thing for humanity? on: November 27, 2023, 12:02:34 AM
See the problem factor in the idea is "humans"

We will as a specias endevour to outdo our colleagues and with that everyone will strive
to be better, faster, smarter, richer, stronger and greedier than others which will lead us to
having wars, technology, exploitation of other humans and nature...

Did we have so many wars and injustice in the world before the internet?

absolutely! right off the stick it started with hunter gatherers defending the best forging spots
in order to survive. Just from a quick pick there have been wars and invasions of ancient Egypt,
Assyria, expansion of the Roman empire, Viking Invasions, Expansion of the Mongol empire, The
Crusades, The Napoleonic Wars, Expansion and colonisation by the United Kingdom, Spain, France
and many other European countries in the race to carve up Africa, countless civil wars in probably
every country, WW1, WW2, Vietnam . . .

Slavery!

Will a reset really -reset- humanity, I truly doubt it.

571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin purchase using proceeds of a sold asset on: November 26, 2023, 09:12:02 AM
Then find money elsewhere? If he thinks it's his only chance to invest in bitcoin then he has already failed. Imagine thinking that there aren't any other possibilities than selling your house. You don't need to invest all in one go. You can buy slowly but surely. What does he think? That bitcoin will go to $1 million next month?

I agree there are other ways, my own personal approach was before the last halving I
took a personal FIAT loan and bought Bitcoin. It was good timing because approximately
12 months later it was paid back.

For the OP's friend selling the house will directly affect his parents, if it was just himself
living in it I would say sell it and use a percentage to buy Bitcoin, if it didnt work out
at least all was not lost just my 2 satoshis

Anyway the timing of this is a little off because by the time the house is sold and monies
received it could be another 3 months, we will have already moved to almost a
month before the halving and its likely the Bitcoin value will have risen. Better to find
an alternative plan and buy Botcoin sooner.
572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 26, 2023, 08:58:48 AM
I feel it's going to be Italy in the final. Đoković is a favorite against Sinner but Musetti should be beating Kecmanović.
Doubles are where I think it will be settled, and although Đoković is playing I do feel the advantage is with Bolelli/Sonego.

Whoever wins here should be a favorite against the Australians.
Sinner have won the match in style. In less than a week after the loss to Djokovic in the Nitto ATP finals Sinner have won the match 6-2 2-6 7-5. In the other match Kecmanovic have beaten Musetti 6-7(7) 6-2 6-1. Sinner teaming with Sonego and defeated Djokovic and Kecmanovic pair in the doubles in the direct set 6-3 6-4. A big win and Italy into its first Davis Cup final since 1998, which is 25 years gap.

Its brilliant, another Sinner win against Djokovic to bring the draw to a doubles match,
where technically Sinner beat Djokovic for the 3rd time!

Its Australia v Italy in the final now. You would have to fancy Italy to take the title.
Looking at the team sheet Italy have stronger players but if the match comes down to
a doubles decider I think it could go either way.

The odds are Australia 3.0 - 1.39 Italy
573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: November 26, 2023, 07:42:19 AM
I lost on Connacht and Munster (both with odds over 5:1) but did win on Glasgow vs Ulster.

I'm thinking of betting on Newcastle over Exeter then Osprey over the Scarlets.

I actually got to watch the second half of Leinster v Munster and couldnt believe
it was so close at half time and pretty much all the way up to about 70 minutes.

Munster had a few chances to score in the second half but Leinster defense was up
to the task. TBH I cant see Leinster losing too many matches even with talisman
 Johnny Sexton retired.

Round 6 of the URC this weekend and I am only catching up on whats happening now.

I see that Benetton had a massive win against the home side Edinburgh yesterday, not
massive in score but massive as a travelling team to scotland and winning by 2 points.

Connachts second match in South Africa against the Bulls didnt end well, 53-27. I didnt have
any bets on this round so no losses.
575  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 24, 2023, 06:06:28 PM
Anyone watching the Davis Cup Final 8?
Watching Jannick Sinner play in singles and doubles with Lorenzo Sonego, it can be seen that he is very motivated to bring his country to qualify for the semifinals by beating the Netherlands in the deciding match in doubles.
Interestingly, maybe we will again watch the Jannick Sinner vs Novak Djokovic match because Italy and Serbia will be facing each other in the semifinals, but it could be that the two countries use different strategies to win and the doubles match will be decisive.

Finland being able to reach the semifinals is the most surprising thing and facing Australia they have the opportunity to make another surprise even though their mainstay player did not play in the semifinals.

Australia are 0-1 up on Finland ATM. It was a surprise that Finland got through against
Canada yesterday. This format is different in that the deciding match is a doubles
match and thats what happened in this case.

It is Italy v Serbia tonight which should be a really interesting match up. Yesterdays
match went to a doubles decider with Sinner/Sonego overcoming doubles specialists
Griekspoor/Koolhof.

577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 23, 2023, 02:12:03 PM
I agree, that ship has sailed for sure for Nadal. Its probably getting to the stage of a similar expectation by
some people expecting Murray to get to a GS final.
As I posted above there are numerous players which will be in his way.

Anyone watching the Davis Cup Final 8?

Canada v Finland has already played with Finland winning that surprisingly and Czech Republic v Australia
with Australia winning.

Later today we have Italy v Netherlands playing and Serbia v Great Britain playing, Assuming Italy and Serbia
go through I wonder if we will see a Sinner v Djokovich match again before the year end?
I cant see odds for Italy but they should be favourites against the Netherlands and Serbia are favourites too
for today.

578  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcoin Crocs shoes only 2,100 units limited edition on: November 23, 2023, 12:56:08 PM
I have seen better looking ones.

However I have not found where they can be bought Sad

You're right (or I agree), these are better looking.
But yeah, orange ones looks much much better. Never seen them before Smiley
So many cool bitcoin stuff exist Smiley

Thats a fake image, that White BTC is photoshopped over the Orange Croc.
Look at the holes in the croc where the BTC isnt, they are dark and where the
BTC is they are light!

If I understand this correctly, it is a "Limited Pre-Order of 2,100 Units", not necessarily a limited edition of 2100 units...

nice wording marketing/promotion thought...  Cheesy

So it is not limited to 2,100 pairs. They can reproduce it after pre order? 🤔

up to 21M  Wink

I am not sure if it is -or not- limited to 2100 in total. This is just speculation according to the phraseology used in their X (Twitter) promo & listing description...

If the shoe fits (no pun intended), we will be able to attach our Ledger devices as a Jibbitz/charm  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

Ya its funny how the wording is, is it a limited pre-order of 2,100 and then unlimited release
to the general public? or is there only going to be 2,100 units made . ?
Anyway those Black ones look really cool, I would wear them before the Orange ones.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Often Do You Check Your Seed Phrase. on: November 22, 2023, 05:32:14 PM
I understand that several thread has been created concerning the importance of keeping our seed phrase save but the question now is this, how often do you check your seed phrase?. My personal experience on why I think you should always check your seed phrase to ensure that it is in a good condition: recently I relocated to another place, when I was moving my things it never occurred to me that I had mistakenly removed my seed phrase from where it was kept not until I had spent more than five months before something struck my mind to check where my seed phrase was written but I couldn't find it there. I was lucky to have kept a duplicate of it somewhere else not just in my house else I would have  ended up losing my funds to some people who understands what seed phrase is all about.

Lessons( 1) Do not keep your seed phrase in a particular place (2) Always check your seed phrase to be sure it is intact (3) Be sure you alone have access where your seed phrase is kept.

Conclusion: Knowing too well that keeping the seed phrase and other account related information of a user private are some ways to ensure adequate security, I think we need to do a constant check on our seed phrase so that we don't end up losing it.

I stand to be corrected if there are things that were not listed as this thread is based on personal encounter and observation.

My seed phrase is one of my topmost secret, though for some time now, I've tried to see if I can let it stick in my head, but it hasn't been an easy task.

Mate I can't believe you actually tried to store your seed phrase in your head that's a dangerous thing to do because you can easily forget the words that comes first before the next line. If you got no option on how to keep it safe, I suggest you write it out in Metal I believe it's going to be safe, but ensure it is not kept where one around you has access to because they can easily discover what it is by simply asking questions. Feel free to duplicate it if possible instead of having it all in your brain that's crazy thing to do you know.

Yes thats risky.
You would think that 12 words in sequence would be easily memorised and called upon instantly.

I think to perfect this a daily routine would have to be followed, its possible but with very strict
dedication to the task.

As for checking the seed phrase, I never "check" it because its on a Stainless Steel plate, nothing
is going to happen it, nobody will find it, no water or fire will damage it, no corrosion either.

I do from time to time I remind myself where it is hidden, actually every time I access my hardware
wallet I visualise those words stamped into the SS plate!

I could understand checking that other forms of seed phrase storage might be checked from time
to time, it all depends on how they are stored, on what medium paper, memory stick
