981  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-07-24] Market Insider: Bitcoin could soar to $180,000 before... on: August 02, 2023, 11:05:55 PM
Nope that is not happening without extreme buying which only happens during a supercycle where most media outlet is covering the skyrocketing price of cryptocurrencies, thus inciting people to buy more.

ETFs aren't going to bring it anywhere close to that level by themselves - that's what people thought would happen last time (institutions adoption bitcoin) but in reality it was only a couple of custodians creating these services for other people to use that (among other things) drove traders to make extreme purchases and make a short price spike last time around.

I disagree a little.  :-)

The halving will probably be a big deal as it has been other years.  It isn't solely about demand, but supply too.  As the supply of coins that are on the market decreases (people are buying to hold, not trade), let alone the decrease in new coins available (the halving), if demand remains constant let alone has any increase, the price increases.  Prices are set at the margin so even an ETF that is only slightly successful will increase the price with less supply on the market and higher demand.

And just to add a little spice to this, Blackrock - the highest profile ETC applicant is the
worlds largest investment company.

Quote
BlackRock is the world's largest asset manager, with US$8.59 trillion in assets under
management as of December 31, 2022.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlackRock#:~:text=In%202021%2C%20BlackRock%20managed%20over,nominal%20%2425.347%20trillion%20in%202022).

Thats a lot of people with a lot of investing in all sorts of assets, adding a Bitcoin ETF
is guaranteed to increase the demand from people who dont know anything about it,
how it works and how to store it, they will know its benefits and where it is going
in the future and they are going to want their favourite and trusted asset managers to
sort it for them.

That coupled with the halving could be "a perfect storm" - there is that word again
"could"

yea, I dont know what I was thinking last week by thinking week 22 was the last week,
I was checking it on the NRL website and couldnt forward to wk 23 so I thought 22 was
the last . . . silly, I know

Anyway, tonight/tomorrow - I agree that the Sea Eagles should do a job on the Roosters
but the Roosters are actualy favourite??? on ROLLBIT they are 1.56 against 2.60 for
the Sea Eagles, thats a great price for who we think is going to win Huh

Just kidding... The Women's West's Tigers are top of the NELW ladder after two weeks while the Men are bottom of the ladder.

Now a Canberra Mens Vs Tiger's Women's match might be interesting...

Imagine the women beat the men?

As an aside >>>

When myself and my Duth friend were watching the womens World Cup game between Ireland
and Canada and in the 4th minute Katie McCabe of Ireland scored a goal froma corner kick,
he said " that would never happen in the mens game, the keeper would have saved it, the women
goalkeepers are shorter and the posts are the same size!"

So is the womens NRL game a little skewed? IDK or maybe some governing bodies place more emphasis
on te womens game than others?

Citi Open in Washington is currently in progress. Today we have another round of 32 with
some big seeded names playing, Fritz, Bublik, Felix AA, Evans, Eubanks, Mannarino and
Tiafoe. Andy Murray plays today too and is against Brandon Nakashima, the odds are
close with Brandon slight favourite, I think he is a good price at 1.86, maybe an over bet?

Bublik 1.62 - 2.30 Fils - thats a great price on Bublik provided he has good form.
984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin ETF got approved in Europe? Really on: August 01, 2023, 01:17:44 PM
Not sure why there is so high craze about the ETF. Usually an ETF is an investment instrument to make money out of thin air. Very few ETFs hold actual asset under management. Majority of them just play on the market price of an asset. Do we know if this BCoin is going to be a physically settled one?

If not, that's no point! It's just not going to do any good to the crypto market.

I think the hype is based on people thinking or hoping there is a lot of investors
waiting for an ETF so they can buy into it, investors with no ambition or knowledge
to own their own.

While there may already be ETF's running and along with this one as per the OP >
https://jacobiam.com/bitcoin-etf/

Its the ETF from the largest global investment company which is very eagerly awaited.

A little prediction that I tried to do in these two matches, I saw the opportunity for the Dutch and United States national teams to come out as winners. If you see the quality of players, I am sure the Dutch will advance easily because the Vietnamese women's national team is not too strong and their quality is under the Netherlands. I think Portugal's chances are a little smaller to qualify for the next round because they are now in third place in the group standings.

Today's fixture looks like cliché to me, I'm taking the England, USA and Denmark all to win their respective fixtures @ over 2.50 Odds on local sportsbook,
while speaking of the groups standing itself. I think Portugal should be able slow the USA down a bit and you'd expect a rampant Netherlands to take it all out on Vietnam, so there is the chance of Netherlands finishing as group leaders, except if they themselves are not able to wreck havoc at Vietnam's side of the goal net.

Well The Netherlands are 1.01 to win and Vietnam are 70.0, its an impossible task
for Vietnam to beat a quality side like The Netherlands but they are not worth bettin on.

Portugal are 13.0 to win and 6.2 for a draw, eventhough USA are the number 1 team
I dont think they have shown their true class so far in the tournament, a win or draw
will carry them into the knock-outs. Portugal are only 1 point behind the USA and
Netherlands...is a shock outcome incoming?

This sounds interesting and would suit anyone in the EU a lot because residency will
be easier achieved.

You have to provide some evidence of ownership and some images of what exactly
you are selling, a couple of lines of text isnt going to sell it for you,

---EXPOSE THE PRODUCT TO THE RISK OF SALE---

You are probably selling at the right time because climatologists are stating
its going to get hotter year after year.

The result of  game between Japan and Spain is a reminder that ball possession doesn't win a match until you scoring goals making good outcome of your chances converting them to goals is what matters more.
At the end of play who goes home with the three points is the winner of the match and not who's with the all the ball possession dominating the pitch. Congrats to Japan for a superb win.

Possession does matter if the team does not possess it for defense and constantly uses it for attack. Although if the attack is not coordinated properly then the chance of failure is also high. I would say Japan was incredible on the field and a bit lucky having 23% possession and still winning by a 4-0. This was the first time that Spain had lost so heavily in the world cup.

Thats a remarkable score with only 23% possession, that proves you dont have to have the majority
of the possesion to win a match and Japan were super efficient with te possesion they had.

Nigeria and Ireland ended the game in a goalless draw. Ireland was just playing for the honor because they were already out of the competition after losing their two past games against Canada and Australia. But they improved today holding the super falcons to a barren draw. The game produced few goal attempts because the two teams were desperate to get a point. The Nigerian team has now qualified with Five points and didn't lose a single game. Before now the Nigeria technical team and players made it clear that they will not underrate the Irish team even if they lost two of their games. Congratulations to the Super Falcons.

Yea I was watching on and off, Ireland played well enough - better maybe than the previous games
but yea ball in the back of the net is what counts, I suppose a win today would have carried them
through then ahead of Nigeria?

Just looking at the table I see the Super Falcons in second place behind Australi and ahead of Canada
after they were beaten by Australia, very well done to them indeed.
990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does cryptocurrency actually solve any problems? on: July 31, 2023, 07:16:55 AM
We generally separate Bitcoin from cryptocurrency.

So the thousands of cryptocurrencies $hitcoins which have been created to date are all
trying to solve various 'problems' but the common theme with them is that they are either
or both scams and centralised.

There is one exception to this I can think of and most people will agree on is Monero,
it offers anonymity.

So Bitcoin's problem solving has been covered already above.

One other I can add is those - it is Open Source, we can all get involved in the network
if we so wish by running a node and by doing so we strengthen the security of the network
991  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sharm El-Sheikh Climate Conference 2022 on: July 30, 2023, 10:53:10 PM
Since the beginning of summer this year, the world is witnessing an unprecedented heat wave. Greece and the American West are going through the worst and longest heat wave in their history in more than 40 years. This coincides with the limited water reserves in many countries of the world after the decline in the amount of precipitation for this year, which coincided with the Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh. That summit, which does not seem to have had any results, is not mentioned, even as a reminder, in all media statements, whether by politicians or specialists.

The current heat wave has caused forest fires to break out again and kill many species, including the elderly and children among humans. I believe that those who are still convinced of the usefulness of these summits in defining strategies to confront climate changes caused by global warming should reconsider their views.

One of the common misconceptions about the climate change expenditures is that we're promised if we redistribute wealth around (ie climate change payoffs to other countries or reducing energy production/CO2 emissions) is that these isolated climate events (hurricanes, heat waves, snow storms, etc.) would stop. They would still happen independent of any climate change intervention proposals.

It’s funny how these politicians & leaders who push climate change use private jets to travel. A private jet doing one moderate length flight uses more CO2 than the average guy does driving a car in his whole life.

Climate change is a political weapon. If you can convince enough of the population that impending doom is facing humanity and illicit irrational fearful responses, you've guaranteed yourself political power.

These climate change conferences are just talking shops in order to make us believe
something proactive is being done when in fact nothing is being done really to address
the issues and generally speaking business people are more concerned about profit
than the environment, in my country it was reported 2 weeks ago that CO2 emissions
are rising - but at least the climate conferences are happening.

Is this Zverev's "comeback" when he wins a tournament that was almost only played by inferior players? Ruud and Rublev seem to not have taken it too seriously and now Zverev can win the 348k and 500 ATP points. I checked how many points this tournament is worth and honestly, comparing the line-up of this one to some of the other ATP 500 tournaments, these 500 points would probably be the some of the easiest he has ever earned if he wins it. But let's first see if he freaks out again before the game ends. Cheesy

I think every player should be given the credit today. And I also think that zverev is certainly someone who deserves the credit for even reaching the final.

By the way, the match between Djere and Zverev is finally over. Of course, the winner was Zverev as expected. He did not give much of a chance to his opponent. It was genuinely a great performance from him.

I don’t understand why people are saying that he had an easy match in the finals. Why people do not want to agree that almost every final match is going to be 50-50.

Anyway, I don’t think you should care too much about the haters. He got a great win in the final and he should celebrate it.

Interesting discussion, there were 3 top players in Hamburg, Ruud, Rublev and Musetti
but Zverev didnt have to play them - anyway winning any tournament is massive so
congrats to him!

Wawrinka is currently 1 set up in the final at Umag, he has a fantastic price of 1.65 ATM
which is fantastic.
993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: July 30, 2023, 06:35:58 AM
Long long time without seeing several minutes of a Rugby match, Really well played the second half by Argentina losing only by one point and because the Argentinian team doesnt score the conversion, plus the last try of South AFrica comes from an error of Argentina.

Asides of the lose, really hopeful game for us, we play really good Rugby today.

Only one sad note about Williams from South Africa, going out of the game at 10 second of started.

ah yes that was a game of small margins, not making the conversion is a killer in
this kind of game, could have won then even with conceding another score.
Positive for Argentina as you say.

In the mens NRL the Dolphins lost out by 1 point, still its another loss.

Titans v Cowboys is playing now with the Cowboys leading in the first half,
IMO this could go either way, eventhough the Cowboys have dragged themselves
into the top 8 I'm not confident they can stay there.
994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 30, 2023, 12:05:20 AM
Over at Hamburg Dere is playing Musetti and it on serve i the first set, I expect Musetti to
win this. Zverev and Ruud are also to play their respective quarter finals. Zverev plays
Va Assche, he should win that.
Seeing how Casper Ruud couldn't even get 1 game in the first set was quite strange, yeah he had played badly in the previous round, it's just that at that time he was still able to get back up, with Ruud's defeat, relatively only Zverev was the top player who was still holding out, and the semifinals will face Zverev vs. Fils and L. Đere vs. Zhang.
The semifinal between L. Đere vs Zhang will be a fairly even match. L. Đere is more favored but the odds of the opponent are not much different, it is very possible that this will be a 3-set match, and in the semifinal between Zverev vs Fils, the German player is more favored and he will be very likely to get to the final even to be able to win this tournament especially if he continues to play well in the semi-finals and in the final later, and if he can lift the trophy it will be his first title after recovering from injury.

Yup both favourites move on to the final today, At this stage and at his home tournament
you just have to back Zverev. He played well today against Fils who was also quite good.

Over at the Atlanta tournament, its looking like Humbert could to be playing Fritz in the final
which is a bit perplexing, where has he come from? I know he has been around for a while but
has really only played well at home in France.

He is currently up 1 set over Vukic who beat my man Eubanks yesterday

~snip
He'll be playing Sonego, so it should be a good match. Haven't seen the odds yet, but I'll place some bets on Stan Cool

other from him, my less experienced and younger picks, as Ruud, Eubanks, Musetti, are all out from competition this week, better than to have them losing day-by-day, all in a same day out is better

Sonego is definitely a tough opponent for Wawrinka. But it is a semifinal match. We are getting exactly what we expected.

we will probably be in it together, also having plans to put some money on Stan
not that I think it has value (he is actually favored by bookies), but he has more experience, and I would like to see him lifting a trophy

To lift the trophy, he will have to fix the Sonego problem, first. I don’t think it is going to be easy for him. I feel like I am repeating myself. But even though I believe the bookmakers are actually favouring Wawrinka in this match, he might lose very easily. And let’s be honest, any match in the semi-finals of the competition is going to be a 50-50. No matter who is playing against who.

Delighted for Stan who faces Popyrin in the final at Croatia, If he wins this it will be a great
reward for battling to get back to fitness.

Not really a deal breaker - but we should start asking the question - What else can I sacrifice
in order to buy Bitcoin?

Hmm, and a question back to you, does one really have to "sacrifice" things in order to invest=buy btc?
Rhetorical of course!

Btw guys I'm still on holiday and still enjoying a beer now and then  Shocked I'm going to update the table into a better format and give some more merit to the contributors once I'm all set in the next hotel and I'm done with planes and airports for a week.
Keep it coming as it has proven quite interesting, far more than I was expecting, especially on the habits and take on this, more than the prices themselves!  Cool

Well I suppose it depends on a persons circumstances, personally I am always sacrificing
and compromising because my income doesnt allow for everything I want or to do.

Maybe we could look at it in terms of Sacrificing now to buy Bitcoin which is essentially
delaying gratification!?

Thought I would share images of my favourite drinks...

This is an interesting concept, it makes you realise how you could prioritise what you
spend your money on, and what to eliminate or cut back on in order to reallocate that
money to buying Bitcoin.

I spend about €18 per month on beer, thats a crate of 12 bottles. At Bitcoins current market
value of €26,600 thats 1477
months.

or, each bottle is €1.50 so in order to buy Bitcoin now I would have to not drink 17,733 bottles.

Not really a deal breaker - but we should start asking the question - What else can I sacrifice
in order to buy Bitcoin?
1000  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just Another Good Source Of Motivation For You ... on: July 28, 2023, 01:31:37 PM
Most people in this world don't typically spend hundreds of dollars on restaurants, so this wise advice is not applicable to them. And those that do are either so financially secure, that they can easily afford that, or are so bad with money, that they need to address that before investing in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is just a saving/investing method, there's nothing special about it in this context. You could as well advice people to put their money in stocks, instead of spending it on luxury.

I suppose the analogy used in the OP can be taken as a lesson in prioritising where
and on what anyone can spend their money on, as coolcoinz points out on the
first reply on page 1 - its just stupid at this stage not to have Bitcoin if you can afford
to spend a $100 or more at a restaurant.

Then again most people dont go around flaunting their Bitcoin hodlings and those that
spend that kind of money at a restaurant could possibly have Bitcoin too!
