601  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Make a Quality Posts in the Forum on: November 08, 2023, 09:43:43 PM
Only reply to posts you have knowledge about. It is not a must  that you join every conversation. You'll be tempted to write out of context or do plagiarism which is a very big offence in the forum. While showing high expertise in the area you have sound knowledge about, read more about topics you are deficient in. Remaining stagnant in the forum won't realy help you. When i talk about being stagnant i mean joining conversations in just few regular boards.  At a point it will become boring as your inputs may likely be products of repetitions. Read posts and threads about different topics in different boards, With time, you will be broadening your scope in the forum. Be limitless in what you can offer to the forum.
602  Economy / Economics / Re: "I saw my salary on a bottle of perfume today" on: November 08, 2023, 06:20:12 PM
That feeling when you can afford all you want,  no matter the price tag attached without having to overlabour yourself. That is freedom,  financial freedom.  You have a very strong purchasing power. Being an employee or a salary earner cannot guarantee financial freedom. This is not something that happens overnight,  it takes years of hardworking and of course brain work too. Though there are still people who are lucky to be born into a world of financial freedom through benefits they inherited from their relatives.

To acquire this freedom, one  needs to take that risk and invest in a longterm project that will generate returns till if possible infinity. Who ever can afford the perfume in the story above has paid his dues and is reaping the benefits.
603  Economy / Economics / Re: How Much Does Food Cost in Your Country? on: November 08, 2023, 05:46:30 PM
It is difficult to tell the price of each thing separately but I just want to say that the price of food in our country has doubled from the normal situation at present the same food which used to be bought for 10 dollars but now we have to spend 20 dollars. People have expressed a lot of anger about the increase in commodity prices, but the government has not shown any positive hope to the people. The price of food has increased, the price of daily necessities has increased, the cost of schooling for children has increased, but only a father's salary has not increased. Celery is the same as it used to be, but now the price of only essential items has doubled due to which now it is a war situation with families.

You have said it all. The price of things have so skyrocketed that it is quite difficult to say exactly what meal is actually a standard meal or not. What might be a standard meal to one person might not be called a standard meal to the next person.  This is as a result of the differences in purchasing power of these individuals.  In my country,  many people are  just eating to survive,  it doesn't matter if it is a balanced diet or not because they are preparing what they can afford. Food wastage has decreased greatly. Who would want to waste a meal you spent fortunes to prepare? This is the situation of things now, not just on foodstuffs but on all commodities and  services that have a price tag.
604  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Why do people think is a mistake to be Nigeria?? on: November 07, 2023, 10:52:19 PM
This is because there are lots of errors in the country and no one is doing anything about it. I personally do not like noise but the level of noise pollution in Nigeria is quite alarming. Only in our dear country will you see churches doing crusades in public places with loud speakers everywhere disrupting the peace of the entire neighbourhood. This is a normal thing in Nigeria.  Sometimes I just wish I am not Nigerian.

Once I had a medical issue that needed urgent attention but my case was delayed because the public servant (doctor) who was supposed to attend to me said that time was his
leisure time. Only in my dear country can this be heard of.

Why will anyone be happy to be Nigerian when he could barely get anything on merit in his own dear country.  I do not blame people who wish to 'japa'. We will still celebrate you if a foreign country favours you more than your beloved country
605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice for new comers on: November 07, 2023, 08:50:26 AM
What advice do you have for newcomers diving into the world of crypto gambling? Any lessons you learned the hard way that you'd like to share?

Of a truth, a lot of lives have been transformed through gambling but I'll strongly advice that you do not get carried away by all these so good to be true testimonies. You might be tempted to make decisions that you will use years to correct or recover.  Do not let greed push you into a deep loss.

Have a job aside gambling, have a hobby too. Putting all your hope in gambling can be disastrous. Not only will it drive you into addiction,  it is capable of making you lose all you already had.

Never you borrow funds to gamble. Have a gambling budget and be disciplined enough to stick to it. You might gamble with your school fees or rent if you do not have a gambling limit.  Gambling is fun but do it wisely.
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and misinformation on: November 07, 2023, 07:58:52 AM
Bitcoin as the father of all cryptocurrency have hard it ups and down since it came into existence, but what I observe lately is the misinformation about Bitcoin that got me worried like in this time and age, people still take Bitcoin as a scam.

I wouldn't deny that in my early days of investment, I really was unconvinced by the presentation i had about Bitcoin, which I took it as one of these fraudster trying to milk the general public as mmm did, but with time, after doing some research and finding I discovered how misinformed I was about it.

Right now most people are like me years back, they are totally misinformed about Bitcoin, the best I do for them right now is to educate them about it, which some even told me what they think Bitcoin was, which is totally untrue about it.
but in as much as am trying to share knowledge about Bitcoin to those who lack it, I don't try to force it on anyone so they won't see me as a scam.

Many people like myself too had this mindset that  Bitcoin was a scam before we took that bold step to join the industry.  While it is partly caused by lack of sufficient information or knowledge,  I believe those who have strongly refused to purge themselves of these negative mindset about Bitcoin are just scared of taking risks.  They backup their fears with negative news and rumours about Bitcoin,  soon they will realise themselves that they have been missing out on a great opportunity. There is no point imposing Bitcoin on anyone,  everyone should be allowed to do what works for them and what they are comfortable with. The aim is to earn income,  every man with his own hustle.
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if there was only one cryptocurrency, which is Bitcoin? on: November 07, 2023, 07:28:33 AM

Many people believe that if there is no alternative cryptocurrency, the price of Bitcoin will rise because it has no competition.

But, in my opinion, the price of Bitcoin is lower if it does not have a competition. Why? Because if there is no competition, the buyer's thinking is "should I buy this or not?" however if there is competition, the buyer's mind is "should I buy Bitcoin or these alts?"

As a result, not just Bitcoin but other altcoins will benefit. So, rather than being upset or sad because there is a competition, we can look at it in a positive way.

There are so many other factors aside competition that influence the price of bitcoin and one of them is the forces of demand and supply.

Currently, the availability of several altcoins is just like a joke compared to Bitcoin, the demand for Bitcoin is still very higher that all altcoins put together. Now, if there were no other coins, making Bitcoin the only cryptocurrency,  everyone will fall back to Bitcoin and of course we know this will result in an increase in demand, thereby  making the price of Bitcoin to be high due to its high demand and limited supply.
608  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The rate of divorce in the society on: November 06, 2023, 06:53:36 PM
In the past divorce rates was less than today and people stayed in unhappy marriages for the sake of societal expectations.

Societal expectations played a major role in marriages in the past. Everyone believed in "for better,  for worse". Many people in the past endured their marriages instead of enjoying it. Even when it was killing the couples slowly.  But now, the people are wiser and more civilised. If its not working,  it's not working and their is little or no stigma attached to being divorced now. While this modern trend in marriages might be a blessing to some people,  it might also be a curse to many others.

Intending couples should do their findings well before walking down the aisle because when marriages hit the rock,  the children suffer the consequences. Both parents are adults and can take care of themselves.what happens to that innocent child who was born into a once lovely family?
609  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Financial stability on: November 06, 2023, 06:28:12 PM
In this present age and time the most important thing is to be stable in finance...even the Bible says according to the christians that money answerth all things..come to think of it is there anything you can successfully carry out without the involvement of finance ? Absolutely nothing! So have come to a conclusion that one need to double up your hustle aside the normal government or private work ...add a trade ...learn hand work or something that will make you to be stable in your finances.
Yea, money answeth ALL things,  even the negative and unspeakable things. This your bible reference is a vague reference.

When we talk about financial stability,  we are looking at a situation or system where our income can sustain us in both favourable and harsh times. This can only be achieved when we have stable sources of income. Not having a stable source of income can be disastrous,  especially in this present day economy.

Certainly,  with the increasing cost of goods and services,  one needed not to be told they need to double their hustle. Everyone need to diversify their portfolios and earn multiple streams of income if they wish to increase their standard of living.
610  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Things to avoid as a beginner on: November 06, 2023, 05:12:38 PM
Inasmuch as it is rare for beginners to burst post, we should also know that it is not impossible for them to burst post either because anyone can burst post. A reading beginner may likely not burst post. For a beginner to burst post, it means they do not read replies which is not a good sign. This is why it is necessary to let them know of the possible implications. We know many beginners are always eager to meet up targets, so they tend to run faster than shadows, thereby  ignoring many rules and regulations that come with negative implications.
611  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: It seems multitasking is the only way out of poverty on: November 06, 2023, 04:21:43 PM
When we look at the state of our country's economy, it's obvious that relying on one particular source of income cannot really be enough to pay your bills, especially when you have a family. In most countries when you have a good skill, or a stable job can take good care of you even if you have a family. The only thing you need to work more for is promotion. However, it is different here.

I have observed that most persons have more than 5 different jobs. If one job doesn't pay this week then the other will. That is what is in their mind. For instance, a man will be working as an engineer in a company, still a government teacher, also have a shop for small business and also a bolt driver. All these things just to survive. I don't like the fact that maintaining a standard of living has to be very challenging like this. If there is a way that working salary would be increased, tit would at least reduce the need for multitasking because all these things are part of those things that gradually affects our health and reduce life spam.

Perhaps you would know other method that can help reduce multitasking

This is the sad reality here in Nigeria.  If you must succeed,  then you need multiple streams of income.  Gone are those days when you can be comfortable and at peace with yourself knowing you have a job and that job can sort out all your bills and give you a comfortable life. Times have changed now, a single stream of income can barely match up the high cost of living,  hence the need to multitask.

There is this common belief that Nigerians can survive anything but sadly, it is killing us. We venture into different kinds of businesses, skills, trainings and many more just to meet up with our numerous financial obligations  yet pay little attention to our stress levels. Little or no measures are put in place to manage stress and it is seriously affecting our health.  This is why I will always advice that we pay attention to our health more while multitasking to put food on the table.
612  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fight against corruption on: November 05, 2023, 07:14:38 PM
A good president might not be corrupt but if his executives and other officials are literally corrupt, it's like that the rust from those people will also be sent and stained on him.

The sad truth with corrupt countries, it's like it's embedded on their system and became a norm where a normal citizen won't be surprise if it's discussed as if it's a normal thing happens in their government.

Well said
Same people who are complaining about corruption at the top are facilitating the spread of corruption. Especially here in Africa,  corruption is a normal practice.  If you are not corrupt, you won't get certain benefits you would have gotten on a fair ground.

Before the fight against corruption can be successful,  the whole system has to be cleansed which is somehow impossible because you cannot force humans to change.
I personally think the fight against corruption is an impossible task.
613  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: This idea go reduce our daily expenses. on: November 05, 2023, 06:59:18 PM
Good day my country people I come with another good idea way go make use spend lesser for this hard time way everything just dey cost like say tomorrow no dey, this period way fuel cost e make transport self add money so I go like share this good idea way go make us no spend too much.
This one nah electric bike

Just this morning I watched one video for social media way one guy dey advertise electric bikes and I con like the thing way the guy dey talk about so I say make I carry am come this our local board for this forum because nah only us nai know how e take dey for our country.
This electric bike we fit carry am go work, strolling and even go markets to buy something's, you fit still even use some carry somebody and e dey easy to drive just like the way gasoline motorcycle dey, now way the price of fuel dey up if we get am e go reduce our expenses small nah just to charge the electric bike that's all but you go need engine oil, but that one nah once in a while, I see the one of $300 and I try to order am online

The money wey you for use buy fuel put for normal bikes wey we get for here, you go still  use am buy fuel put for generator charge this electric bike. This electric bike make sense but our problem for this country plenty. With steady power supply,  then this bike na big alternative for us.

With the way things be for this country,  the average Nigerian fit afford dis thing? 300$ no be small money and we know say, all the hardships wey dey this country,  na the common man dey suffer am pass. If the common Nigerian no fit afford this, den nothing change. If dem even use this electric bike run public transport,  our bike men go still complain say light no come to charge bike. Therefore, transport fare still high. Make everybody fit afford this thing then we go know say the bike help us true true.
614  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer to own a luxury watch or invest in bitcoin or other assets? on: November 05, 2023, 06:38:55 PM
Why on earth will I chose a luxury watch over bitcoin, actually though, this is the first time I am learning that luxury watches appreciate in value, have never heard about this before, but then, no matter how this watches tend to appreciate in value, I will never choose any of them over bitcoin, and this is because just as you (the op) have said, interest in such items may diminish over time which may as well affect their value in a negative way deeply, due to lack of interested buyers and great number of sellers.

So no matter how good a return on investment luxury watches promise, I will never choose them over bitcoin, and beside, I will never buy a luxury watch and consider it as investment, if I am ever buying one or more, I am buying them for my personal use, and not as an investment, if I want to invest my money, I will invest in the right assets like bitcoin, shares, real estate and so on, luxury watches are no assets to me, they liabilities as far as I know.

I have always thought possession or ownership of luxurious commodities are just for showoff to indicate the owner is of high class. Never  knew these things appreciate and some people even see them as assets. But notwithstanding,  I would rather invest in a tangible project than buy a luxurious watch.

With the way technology is advancing, how sure are we that the luxury watch will still be of class in few years to come? I will only consider the luxury watch if I have enough investments and the returns from these investments can afford me a luxurious lifestyle.

Everyone can do what they think is best for them but as for me, investment first before luxury.  I do not have to stay broke after spending on a luxurious watch.
615  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics everyone's business? on: November 02, 2023, 10:03:12 PM

In fact, politics should not be everyone's business, but the circumstances of the country may force people to do so. For example, in my country Turkey, if you turn a 10yo. child and ask him about his views on politics, you will get answers you would not believe.

People should be able to live without having to think about politics, but some politicians run their countries so badly that people start discussing politics. Don't ask me how do you know it Smiley

I doubt the possibility of people going about their normal businesses  without thinking about politics whether the politicians are good or not. At least, people still need to come together to change a government constitutionally,  except the political positions are lifetime positions.  Politics is a social activity.

Many will say they have no business/ interest in politics  but indirectly, they have been involved in politics from the opinion and conversations they hold about the ruling party and many more. If politics is not everybody's business,  then we do not have the right to complain when the ruling party  govern the country for their personal gains.
Politics gives every citizen a voice.  It is through politics you exert your grievance on any leader. Staying away from politics will do us no good. Its is the responsibility of every citizen to see to the growth of his or her country and politics gives us that chance to carryout this responsibility.
616  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Reward for a Trading Mentor on: November 02, 2023, 08:41:42 PM

Have paid lot of mentors in the past who never gave me value for what I paid , wasted money on fake mentors .. I will rather use a bot to help me trade while am enhancing my knowledge than have a mentor deceive me again
Sorry about this. Good mentors are hard to find these days. That is why I advise that we do researches on our own so we will not only gain knowledge  but also detect when our supposed mentors are going off track. Having a mentor is not bad at all,  just that fake mentors have outnumbered the real ones, making it difficult for newbies to rely solely  on mentorship alone.
617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greed or risk on: November 02, 2023, 08:29:21 PM
This is a game,  no matter the amount involved.  Gambling is all about risk taking. Your friend is only trying his luck, if he wins then it's fine. And if he loses, its still his business. I wouldn't want to tag it as greed. Every gambler has these atom of greed in them, we always want more and we expect a win from every gamble whether we are Gambling for the money or for fun. If he is matured enough to accept the outcome of the gamble , then let him carry on. Gambling is risk.
618  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: November 02, 2023, 07:58:52 PM
In my opinion, the most important thing is how we can set money limits when gambling, so that we remain conditioned if we lose and we won't lose much in this case. If I win then I will stop first to enjoy the results of the win, and when I lose maybe I will only gamble once or twice with a small budget, and the most important thing is to always be aware that gambling is just luck that we are not sure of getting, so we stay under control and prevent addiction.

It is easy to say "set gamble limits ". A gambler who is not disciplined or lacks self control will find it difficult to stick to his or her gambling limits.  The main thing here is discipline and self control.  Every gambler should as a matter of necessity train themselves to have these attributes if they must stay responsible.

Personally, i set gamble limits.  One of this days , a friend introduced me to a gambling site that pays. I decided to try it out with a set amount.  Unfortunately,  I lost but it didn't end there, I wanted more. I put in more money, I lost. I tried again and lost again.  I had to call myself to order before I lose everything I had to gambling. Self control pays a lot.
619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this how it start? (No or yes?) on: November 01, 2023, 08:18:45 PM
Have you been in such situations before? I foremost, asked this question because I haven't done this before. Today I was just doing nothing but sitting down in the sitting room watching TV, but I wasn't comfortable. Then I fund my betting account (hoping to have fun) with $10 but, unfortunately for me, I lost the whole money without winning just a dime. It was not the first time for me to lose money on gambling (but I am not a regular gambler), then I fund another $10, so finally, finally, I still lost the other money I deposited, and I was like asking myself how? When did I even fund another money in this account? why I am surprised is because I haven't funded into my betting account twise in a day after losing done money, so am I becoming an addict? No.

No, you are not addicted yet. But if you continue to exceed your gambling limit or budget consecutively,  then it will call for concern.  Almost every gambler at one point or the other has faced this issue before.  Whether you are gambling for the money or just for fun, stick to your budget and time limit.  If you do not regulate your gambling habit, it will grow into an addiction.
620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever been a gambling addict? on: November 01, 2023, 08:02:16 PM
Oh you have made me to remember of my days in school when my bones were eaten up with gamble. I gamble a lot then and I lost very big, because I was controlled by my emotion and decided to chase my loss. I used my tuition fee to gamble and I learnt a head lesson from that mistake that I made.

I am happy now that I have overcome my addiction and still enjoy the fun in gambling. I no longer allow my emotions to control me as I do have a gamble budget and once I empty it, I stop gambling, so that I don't get addicted again because it is the more that you gamble that you the chances of getting addicted increases.

What a subtle reminder.  Back then in school,  I was so into gambling though not too extreme as in your case. I can't
Say i was addicted then but i gambled almost every day. Gambling to me then was just for fun, even though it cost me money.  Predicting matches was more of an entertainment  to me.  Funny enough,  I never recorded any win  while I was into gambling.

One thing that helped me then was that I wasn't relying on gamble wins and I had other things doing that were taking my  attention.  No emotional attachments and no thoughts of going extra miles to get funds to gamble with.  Seeing gambling as a recreational active will save us lots of emotional stress.
