Since its creation Bitcoin went through several severe bear periods between the halvings. But what if the mass adoption has increased so much that no such bear periods of 80%+ crashes from tha last ATH are possible? We see the first sign for that - unlike any other period of 12 months, there was only one 30% correction and two 20% corrections. What if this is a sign that such long periods of lack of interest from the big investors are no longer possible? The implications on any sell strategy involving considerations of the previous cycles will be hugely negative. I mean if someone is selling with the hope of buying 80% cheaper, this may turn to be a total disaster with some 30-40% dips occurring here and there. Not only that, but this will make any unnecessary major sell from our stash to be a big mistake. This tweet predicts more than a supercycle, rather an infitite bull market. Well, this may look unrealistic now, but certainly the probability for that is not 0 as some may think based on previous experience. And sometimes the past experience may be misleading. I don't buy it, but hey whatever... there is a chance for anything to happen.. My overall thinkenings continue to be that bitcoin no doesn't work like dat... and I am not even trying to be stubbornly caught up in the already existing models, but there still seems to be more evidence to the currently credible three existing models rather than proposing some new model that may or may not end up playing out. ... at some point we will reach the end of cycles, unlikely to be this one but if it is it will be a mega rollercoaster pump to $800k+ then plateau and consolidation with bear market correction of no more than 30%, followed by years of continuous stable growth ... a steep S-curve adoption (hyperbitcoinisation) is still not off the table either but that would likely mean a catastrophic implosion of fiat system and total financial chaos with much economic destruction, better if this played out over a decade or two instead ... the mining of new coins (new supply) is still a material fraction of the total inflow and increases with increasing fiat price, but eventually (soon?) it will become insignificant as inflows outstrip new supply even as the price is increasing ... at which point the halving cycles will only be an echo ... already consuming ~0.5% of global energy production and increasing, it's likely that bitcoin may also run into material energy limits that the market is willing to afford for securing our bitcoin monetary system, or it may incentivise energy production globally in out-of-the-way places and new energy technologies, in the same way it now incentivises chip innovation and manufacturing |

At $57,600 the price will have doubled in less than a month.
Going from past experience this usually leads to doubling again in about half that time, and then another.
My theory is that the doublings decrease each time.
There's probably TA based around that but I just go by that.

BTC at $500,000 means power consumption would trend to 3.8% of worldwide power.
BTC at $5,000,000 means power consumption would trend to 38% of worldwide power.
... these numbers are only valid for era=3 though right? What might be interesting is to hold the ~0.37% of global energy constant (assuming a total energy cost market is willing to pay for 'bitcoin security') and use to estimate different prices for future eras. |

The point is, comparing things/events from the past to one of current time (and the future), which are not even very similar, is just wrong in most cases.

Stupid questions: I've always wondered... How did the owners keep their tulips in good condition? Weren't they worried that they may dry out and die? How long can a tulip even last? I would be very worried if I had to take care of my Bitcoins like plants. You know, water them, get them out in the sun, protect them from pests, feed them with nutrients... Hard work! Fortunately, my Trezor and/or paper seed backups don't need anything to survive, not even power. Maintenance-free forever! Maybe a tuliptologist has an answer for this. But onions for example hold also a long time if proper stored... I think... ... tulips garlic and onions all have bulbs that are perennial. Garlic and onions are alliums and the dried bulbs can last 12-18 months at the extreme in perfect storage conditions. ... the tulib bulb mania was to do with the speculative frenzy that came about when derivatives were invented to hedge/gamble on which bulbs would be in fashion for the next growing season. tulip flowers produce new bulbs at their base at the end of the flowering season and there is always, still today, a robust fluctuating market in different bulbs based on the colours, stripes, size, etc of the flowers .... a lot like shitcoins someone figured out how to sell futures on rare fashionable tulip bulbs around the same time there was a general speculative mania in dutch coffee houses share trading from governments creating easy free money while experimenting with fiat money ... sound familiar? |
