Im looking for the highest powered asic I can get for 2.0BTC shipped to canada. Let me know what you have in PM as my emails are not working for some reason.
As of now that would still be a pile of block erupter USB sticks. It is getting close to Jallytime for 2 BTC but not quite there yet. Maybe next week.

double sha2 is weaker then sha2 in some aspects.
im not sure that anyone have ever proven that sha2 hits its whole 'probability' space(2^256), if doesn't do that it will be loosing entropy by repeated applications.
more data in(a big fat block of data), means more random out. less data in(a single 256-bit sha2 hash), means less random out.
So a single key can be cracked in 1,000,000 years using every atom on the planet for energy instead of in 1,000,000,000 years using every atom in the solar system?

I wonder what will happen when 50% of customers request chargeback this week.
I doubt that many unrefunded, undelivered credit card orders newer then six months exist.

Hmmm. Units being delivered NOW won't make ROI?

Short answer: your balance goes down, you get poorer and everyone else (that holds bitcoins) gets richer
The client tries to protect you against putting in an invalid address (there is a checksum in the address that will protect against simple copy/paste errors). But if you send money to some address for which no one holds the keys to spend, the bitcoins go to bitcoin heaven. The supply of bitcoins shrinks, and hence, assuming constant demand, all other bitcoins in existence increase slightly in value.
this is interesting. so if i understand you correctly, one could set up a script to install new bitcoin clients - thousands upon thousands of them, one after the other - have a downloaded blockchain ready for them, and -rescan... eventually you would create a client with an address that someone had mistakenly sent some bitcoin to? If you were to convert all of the matter on earth to power the computer you used to do this (at 100% efficiency), you would run out of matter before you found a single valid 'collision' address, yet alone one that contained Bitcoins.

15btc each single
Thats the max price if u expect it to make 1 c profit Maybe. But if one had that single before the next difficulty increase one could expect about $450 income in the first two weeks, then $300 in the two weeks after, and $220 in weeks 5 and 6. So far $970 and after two months about $1100 or 8.8 or so BTC. I would buy singles locally at 11 BTC. I would think about it at 13 BTC. 15 BTC is looking like six months to never payback.

That shouldn't take away from Bitfury their design is very efficient. One thing to consider is that Bitfury uses a rolled design and all other designs to date have been unrolled. Unrolled design has been the conventional wisdom back to the FPGA days, so Bitfury going with a rolled design (which they did on their FPGA as well) may be part of the "magic". Bitfury likely would have seen commercial success in the FPGA space if BFL hadn't resorted to using underhanded tactics. BFL announcing ASICs would be available in a few months back in the summer of 2012 killed further demand for FPGAs. Still Bitfury FPGA design was very efficient compared to competitors so it shouldn't be much surprise that their ASIC implementation would be as well.
What does rolled design mean? Is it similar to pipelined in CPU architecture? Not having one part wait for the other but having the parts work in unison like an assembly line?
|
|
|
One might also ask: Why does BFL's 65nm chip consume ~8x as much power per hash as BitFury's 55nm chip?
Both are supposedly Full Custom designs, I believe.
I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the BFL chip was not full custom. There are a few steps between ASIC hard copy and full custom like standard cells. I am guessing the BFL chip is in the middle of the range.

USA location. Clean top, some marks, a dent right on the ethernet though connector still works. There is a deformation around the superdrive as shown in picture. Battery is in 'replace soon' condition, runs about 1.5 hours but not guaranteed. New battery is $39 (not in stock) Raw laptop no power pack $229 Laptop plus new non Apple power pack $259 US insured shipping $19 (terms below) Overseas shipping: Priority mail regular $52 Priority mail express $63 Insurance would be about $12. If you pick this you are subject to the terms of the insurance (examples: 45 waiting period for lost packages, must sign statement to collect).

A shame. I can deal with waiting four days to access my coins or move my wallet to an uber fast machine if needed, but not everyone can. If my I5 machine is taking this long, how long would this take on a core 2 duo with 2GB ram?
Hm? reindex shouldn't take longer than an hour or two. What kind of media is this on? 1 TB 5400 rpm laptop hard drive. System is not sluggish otherwise. I am not the only one reporting very long re-index times.

Ok. This prevents it from failing but does not seem to make it go faster. Now at three days running machine non-stop. 15 weeks left to go.
It isn't expected to make it faster. The checklevel refers to only the brief startup sanity check that covers a few hundred blocks. A shame. I can deal with waiting four days to access my coins or move my wallet to an uber fast machine if needed, but not everyone can. If my I5 machine is taking this long, how long would this take on a core 2 duo with 2GB ram? Would deleting everything and downloading a torrented blockchain be faster or would it still need to re-index?

For the sake of completeness, I should mention that my upgrade on OSX 10.7.5 from the 0.8.3 version to this new 0.8.4 triggered a re-indexation of my blockchain files (OP mentioned only 0.7.2 or earlier).
Same. Unfortunately the re-index has been going on for two days. I have an i5 CPU and 8gb ram, tons of free disk space so I am really surprised it is taking this long. It looks like another day to go. Anything I can do to make this go faster? See other threads. re-run with "-checklevel=2" Ok. This prevents it from failing but does not seem to make it go faster. Now at three days running machine non-stop. 15 weeks left to go.

so it went cpu->gpu->fpga->asic->? whats next? what should i keep my eye on and be ready to buy with the snap of a finger if it comes out? i want to mine but im not stupid enough to get sucked into the big scam going around with junk asics that dont even make 10%ROI also, how much more time has asic got before something better comes? also, quantum computing, yay or nay for sha-256?
ASIC has many levels. The lowest is an FPGA hard copy, a few variations in between (like standard cells and structured design) , and the highest level a full custom ASIC. As far as I know some of he earlier ASICS (without naming) were FPGA hard copy. They use more power and can not run at higher speeds. A full custom can run very fast but is much harder to design properly. Make a mistake and you throw away a lot of money. A 65NM full custom could outperform a 45NM that was not a full custom. So the holy grail (right now) would be a 14NM full custom. We are still a long way from there.

Their asking price for the Iphone 5C is crazy. I was expecting a budget device something priced similarly to the Nexus 4. In the UK, the iPhone 5c costs £469. For comparison you can get the Nexus 4 from the play store for £159. Oh and I totally believe that it should be nicked named the "Lumia Iphone".
I agree. I am not sure what they are doing yet at Apple. The 5C phone needs to be priced at $399 no contract for them to do any damage to Android. Well at least if Apple wants to get more market share in the developing world. Otherwise this will be Apple's "new coke" moment. In the USA the 32gb should have been $50 and the 16 should have been free. Now the 5S is priced right for Apple and what it contains. I will order it.

I guess this is the world we live in. My team has been working 14 hour days trying to test and ship hardware to customers while also growing the mining operations. I have been totally transparent in what is going on here as well as my plans and approach to dealing with challenges on multiple levels, while keeping it fair to the customers & investors.
In all other retail businesses, if a backordered situation exists, you will just wait. I have taken steps to set aside hardware that will run on the behalf of customers in order to reduce their pain of waiting. Of course I'm not running PPS at 7%, that's ridiculous. Its PPLNS @ 3%. If you have a problem with the pool fee, then let us know what your pool is and we'll make sure you get the 1 - 2% more coin. If you want your share of NMC mined - whatever, send me an address.
Being transparent and screwing your customers still doesn't make it right. Yes you have done a better job then every other asic company but because of you the people not receiving their rigs will never ROI. I have an outstanding Aug order as well. From what I have read I a NOT being screwed. I am being paid for the time that my equipment should have been delivered to when it will be delivered. The only thing better would be to receive the coin now vs later. So long as I get the coin my equipment would have mined at this lower diff I am happy. Or did I read what Dave said wrong?

Please don't do any more media appearances - this kind of work is better. - we appreciate this kind of work. Thank you Amir.
I am a squatter and anarchist. I'm not your yuppie making toy apps. I build tools for the people. If I don't conform to your vision of how Bitcoin should look like, then that's your problem. +1 Bitcoin is a worldwide community base from businessmen to anarchists, rich to poor and someday maybe even females will start to use it.
