601  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Server Power Supply Interface Board - for standalone miners and GPU rigs on: December 26, 2013, 06:15:49 PM
I snatched up a few of the dps-2000bb power supplies, I'd like to get a few of these boards from you if they are compatible, or at least know where you get the main connector from, I can make my own boards on protoboard.
Thanks!

I was going to make this same post.

606  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have 10 large servers doing nothing else right now, what can I do to mine? on: December 18, 2013, 09:44:27 PM
Id pick a CPU coin to mine like Primecoin. The price of it has dropped (along with everything else) recently but I would think it has a strong chance of going back up at some point.
607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Figure it's gone but thought I'd ask on: December 18, 2013, 01:41:48 AM
Yup, sorry to say, but its gone.
608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Folding@Home & CureCoin on: December 18, 2013, 01:40:40 AM
Wow long time, that I heard about Folding@Home. Good to see that it's still up and running for the sake of humanity.

Still going strong.  We are working on many new things with the aim of expanding our network.   We are currently exploring CryptoCoin possibilities.  I've been reading up on ideas on how to get useful computation out of a CryptoCoin network.  CureCoin is one idea but has some potentially fatal flaws which I will discuss on the CureCoin thread once I've been give permission.

Welcome to the forum. Ive been folding for about 10 years now and am proud to be a part of it. It would be very cool if you can somehow use a crypto network for your cause. I'll have to watch for your posts.

Good luck!
609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Supporting the network with multiple wallets on: December 17, 2013, 06:56:46 PM
My question is, is there much point in having multiple computers on the same local network all running a wallet?
with the current size of the bitcoin network, there's no need to specifically run a bitcoin node to maintain the network.

Fair enough. I assumed this was the case anyway.

You're only supporting if you have port 8333 open so others can contact you. Otherwise you're just leaching.

This I did not know...

Thoughts?

I know its not a major issue or anything, just curious really.

612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Supporting the network with multiple wallets on: December 16, 2013, 06:39:44 PM
So running the bitcoin wallet 24/7 is good for the network, right? It makes since because this is a P2P network and if all users closed their wallets the network would not exist.

My question is, is there much point in having multiple computers on the same local network all running a wallet?
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What is Bitcoin video on: December 16, 2013, 03:13:19 PM
Im looking for a video I can show to people new to Bitcoin that will explain what it is and how to use it on a very simple level. Most videos I see online are how to mine or the technical side of crypto's.
Id like to find something more like whats on the Bitcoin.org website but that answers more questions (how, why, purpose, etc)

Does anyone have a video in mind that you have used in the past with good results? Not everyone who uses Bitcoin needs to be technical and thats key to getting it accepted everywhere.

Thanks in advance!
614  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: wallet has to be online to receive payment? on: December 14, 2013, 09:35:26 PM
does my wallet have to be online at the exact moment of payment to receive it?

No. Actually the payment never gets sent to the wallet, the wallet just gives you access to the coins on the network.
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do Red Fury USB ASIC's work with Scrypt? on: December 10, 2013, 09:23:39 PM
I bought 2x Red Fury USB ASIC's (2.2Gh/s each) and have been working for the past 8 hours trying to get them working with both cgminer and bfgminer but with no luck!

cgminer will not accept the --scrypt argument at all (even when downgrading to 3.7.2 and using the --enable-scrypt argument when installing)

I have a Raspberry Pi on Rasparian - Installed all the dependencies and stuff, all installations go fine.

When I try to run an SHA-256 based pool it works fine, but when I attempt to run a Scrypt-based pool I get blocks rejected (obviously because I'm trying to run SHA on a Scrypt pool, understandable)

It's the same story on Windows too - So you guys are my last resort! I have exhausted Google/Bitcointalk searches..

So my question is, do these ASIC's work with Scrypt pools/Solo-mine's - If so, how do I set it up?

No. They are designed to hash SHA-256 only.

617  Economy / Services / Re: 110,000 KH/s up for grabs on: November 25, 2013, 11:36:30 PM
What kind of escrow would you be OK with and do you offer any kind of uptime guarantee?

No escrow......my trading reputation is unquestioned and the contract will be honored as stated with no issues whatsoever.  I guarantee an average 110,000 KH/s for 30 days.  Any downtime will be compensated out of my own pocket.

Can you give clear reasons on why you are doing this ? Clearly you can get more than $20k in the same period, are you needing $20k right now ?

Risk.

If he mines for a month there is a chance the price of LTC will drop to nothing and he could loose out. However, if you rent his rigs for a month at a flat rate then he is guaranteed to make $20k while you take the risk.

The flip side is also true where the price of LTC could go way up and he would 'only' get $20k, but the $20k is still guaranteed.

Just wanted to report back that I received both rigs today. I have not assembled them or powered anything up yet but all looks good.
Everything was packaged very well and matched this threads description.

+1 traderman

thank you!

I'm impressed with that LTC power, I have to ask - Whats the KW draw on this setup?

Same here. Sorry to bump the thread with another 'not interested in buying" post, but Im curious about the hardware to achieve this, if your willing to share.
620  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now that $1000 is behind us. Let's talk about $10,000 on: November 19, 2013, 09:51:23 PM
BTCChina was at almost $1200, if you convert RMB into USD.

I heard China was really driving up the price, but I didnt know there was this much of a difference. Cool.
