So will the SDC price sellers set for items pegged to USD or is it a number they plug in that needs to be changed everytime ShadowCash price rises or declines? Important question. The best choice is that the system automatically updates a seller's item price to reflect current market conditions.

Yes. The price in SDC should be dynamic depending on the current market value

Awesome!

Awesome work!

This is gonna be a huge marketplace Smiley

One way the big holders could do it is to pay people in SDC to write services for the coin. Sort of like a bounty, but he gets the product of the work done, not the devs.

Example: "Write me an online poker app that takes SDC. I'll pay you 50,000 SDC." Now he's 1) distributed the coin, 2) has a site he can run to make profit, and 3) has created another use for the coin that will increase the demand for it, and thus the price.

I don't have enough SDC to do things like this, just an idea.

Good, logical suggestion
624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] Shadow | Zero Knowledge Anonymity Public Testnet Online! | PoS-SPV | HTML5 on: December 05, 2014, 01:17:01 AM
With the small number of coins available and potential for trillions in market cap due to its technical advantages, I wouldn't want to sell a SDC for less than several BTC.

On the other hand, distribution is going to have to be much better for it to ever realize that potential. Somebody is going to have to bite the bullet. That leads to some interesting economic questions- let's say you hold all or nearly all of a coin- it's worthless if you are the only one using it, and worthless to you if you don't own any, so how would you distribute it to maximize your own wealth?

I don't know that this has ever been addressed.

I agree on both points. Massive upside, but lack of even distribution could be an Achilles heel. Granted, this project has had no publicity, has flown under the radar while out preforming other dev teams & could have had many of it's most avid supporters gobbling up coins at nearly an identical price for months. This could be cause of the lopsidedness of address holdings. There is nothing wrong with showing support for a project you believe in. This coin also hasn't had a big pump & dump in the early days of coming on an exchange as most other coins have.

Hard to say.

Some data on distribution is recorded here:

my nose gets some really bad smell here

someone knows something we dont know

and we will be the last ones to learn about it when it is too late

they are dumping non-stop since 36k peak whenever they see buy wall or whenever they find the volume

sorry but i lost my trust to sdcdev and the core community....anyway like they say; they owe us nothing

and like i always say, price tells the truth....but normal people like we will learn that truth when it is too late

It's obvious to me, listening to you here and in IRC, that you are only interested in SDC for the quick buck via trading. You bought a bunch with the Darkcoin acquisition rumors/ rejection. You bought more when Darkcoin investors were like "wth is ShadowCash and why does Evan want it so badly? They must be doing something, let's buy!" And then, inevitably with slow & steady development, day traders sell coins because there is 500 other coins to get better odds on while real teams work out bugs. Price drops and you're feeling screwed.

Of course people are selling into big buy walls, it's happened FOR YEARS (crazy crypto is here already)!

I've noticed some of my stake rewards don't go through and show this note: "Generated but not accepted"
Could someone explain this?

Its similar to getting orphans when using a hardware miner. Someone beat you to it, they had more connections possibly and or broadcasted their block before you. And a few other things but thats basically why.

Btw i love those old GTR skylines. Your avatar. You use it everywhere you have one?

Thanks makes sense.

Yeah, love the Hakosuka! Always nudging my wife into getting some new (old) J-tin in my garage.

I can't figure out how to set my split stake threshold.

I'm in the console and have tried "splitstakethreshold", "setstakesplitthreshold", "getstakesplitthreshold" and getting no response. None of those are showing up when I type "help" or looking at the list of commands available.

Is my client out of date? Using 1.0.7.0
I've tried adding a "-" before the phrase in the console, that doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Hi LiteBit.
Yes, your client is outdated. You will need 1.0.7.2 or higher for those extra commands (not sure if all are precisely worded above).
Importantly, the threshold value will need to be set at every wallet startup, unless you update all the way to 1.0.7.3 (latest), which is the version that implemented recording of the threshold on the wallet file.
Happy Staking!

Thanks, upgraded.

Now what's the correct way to change it?
Here's what I tried
Code:
-setstakesplitthreshold=3200
Code:
setstakesplitthreshold <3200>

neither work

Thanks everyone. Makes sense now.
Silly question but say I've got a number of ~1600 blocks staking right now. Do the staked coins join each block once either the 1000 limit hits or 30 day limit hits (whichever happens first)?

I guess I'm asking is it an instant addition of coins to the wallet and then I need to re-calculate new blocks and repeat?

In the newest version of the wallet you can tell it what to do. It is called "splitstakethreshold" and is in the RPC commands.  If you set the threshold to 1,000 (default setting in new wallet) it means that it will take your full reward and old block amount, and if it is over 2,000 HYP it will make them into two blocks. If the full amount was less than 2,000 it would combine them as one block.

So you think of the threshold number as the minimum block size it will make if it splits.

and it saves to the wallet!!!! man I LOVE that... one less thing for me to forget to do!

Except that when you restart your wallet I see no way to see if <setstakesplitthreshold > is set correctly.  When you set it it says it is saving it and either you trust that it did or you do what I do and set it again when restarting the wallet.

try getstakesplitthreshold

edit - just noticed that it shows up out of order in the rpc command list  Angry  Shows up as setstakesplitthreshold   Sad

I can't figure out how to set my split stake threshold.

Look for us on BitcoinBlackFriday.com on Nov. 28th, 2014 too!

We wanted to give the community a couple days head start before the shopping rush!

There's rumblings that they're going to have a new feature this year allowing up shoppers to buy Bitcoin with credit cards up to $25 too. Our umbrellas fall right into that price point at $24.99!

Thanks guys!

We created this product not only to help start up conversations across campuses worldwide but to also provide a First-to-Market product at wholesale pricing. By grouping our pre-sale batches in orders of 600, 1200 and even 2400 we can manufacture a custom umbrella and pass on the savings at great discounted prices.

We imagine this umbrella will sell for a range of $39.99 to $49.99 in the open market. We currently are offering these at $33.75 $24.99, a 35% savings! If you sell on sites like eBay or Amazon buying bulk orders of these will relay into nice profits down the road. This is a First-to-Market product and sure to become an instant classic!

This is a "pre-sale" item. Once we reach 300 units sold we'll place the order with our manufacturer. These are custom made for us and the lead time is 65-90 days. In the meantime we are distributing Counterparty UMBRELLA tokens with each order which can be traded on their decentralized exchange up to our shipping date.

•  Central One Color silkscreen Print (engineered across panels)

•  Standard orange fabric matches [fa class="fa-btc"]  logo Pantone color

•  44" canopy

•  Auto Open / Folding Close

•  Batch Order #01: 600 units

It is most likely that we never will hit a full 960k in one day, because everyone will size down there coin blocks so that they won't hit the 1k limit....

What does this mean?
Should I resize my blocks BEFORE they hit 1000?
Just that people will create block of smaller and smaller size as time goes by. Earlier in the game, you could have blocksize of 4200 with no much risk of hitting the limit. Now, even 3600 hits the limit and 3300 is not safe anymore. Personally, I use 2400 but one day, even 2400 will be too high.
This also means more and more blocks - because there is more coins and also because there is a bigger difficulty, which encourages to create more blocks of smaller size (rather that less blocks of bigger size). The network is even more secure! See my long post about this, inflation control and network security.

Bottom line: keep yourself informed about the optimal size at a given moment, the size other HYPsters considered the best according to their feedback.

For the moment:
  • Agressive: 4000
  • Normal: 3300
  • Conservative: 2400

Thanks everyone. Makes sense now.

Could you guys do a new tutorial explaining the "splitblock" feature in 1.0.7 and put it here http://hyperstake.com/category/tutorials/ ?

It looks like it'd save me a bunch of time, but I couldn't figure it out in the little time I spent on it last night.
Thanks in advance!

I just uploaded this quick video. I will see if I can get it added to the website too.

How cool is that guy? That could be you. It could be me. It can be all of us!

I’m excited to finally bring the symbolic Bitcoin logo to the promotional power of an open umbrella. Whether tromping through damp the city sidewalks, at wet sporting events or on the 18th green of your favorite golf course, there is no mistaking the impact of the umbrella form. The marketing potential, branding/ identity strategies, conversation-piece starters, etc are all obvious to anyone of us who has ever tried to talk Bitcoin to family, friends and strangers. Getting the conversation going is sometimes half the battle. However, walk down the street in a bright orange BTC umbrella and these opportunities multiply exponentially. Stand in the gallery of a televised golf event with a bright orange BTC umbrella and lots of people are going to notice. You can see why I JUST HAD TO DO THIS!

This is going to be a first-to-market product. We all are going to be the first people in the world sporting a Bitcoin Umbrella!
While I haven't settled on the frame & handle (see OPTIONS below), I do have the rest of the design nailed down.

SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Central One Color silkscreen Print (engineered across panels)
  • Our manufacturer's standard orange is comparable to the Pantone color in the BTC logo (see below)
  • 44" canopy
  • Custom build per order
  • 600 minimum order
  • 50% deposit down
  • 65-90 days depending on frame order

OPTIONS:
I've included a survey above that relates to the 6 product images below. Please help me choose the most popular choice of frame & handle. I'd appreciate it immensely.  Smiley
Note: Ignore the heart logo, it's for reference only

Manual Open Folding

Auto Open/ Manual Close

Auto Open/ Close Folding

Auto Open Wood Frame

Auto Open Steel Frame

Clipless Aluminum Frame

PRICING
Prices are included on the option images above. They include shipping within the US. International shipping is available but will be extra. For those interested in wholesale or bulk orders the prices represent around a 35% savings over MSRP depending on the frame we pick. The initial batch is going to bear the cost of the initial setup fees and samples, but that can easily be offset by the product being first-to-market and not found anywhere else on the planet. My thoughts are that this first batch will sell online (eBay, Amazon, here, other places) for $48.99. This first run could potentially be collector items as well.

The prices quoted in the options are close to the real thing but still may change depending on how popular this product is. I'll be selling pre-orders with BTC & XCP (see Next Steps below) and I'm hoping the volatility in both currencies reduces over the weekend so I can nail down a reliable, translated fiat price.

WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP?
Like I mentioned above, I know the fabric we're using, we just need to pick the frame.

Once a clear winner emerges in the survey I'll post the pre-order details. I've set up an asset on Counterparty called UMBRELLA. http://xcp.blockscan.com/asset.aspx?q=UMBRELLA. The asset has 600 shares representing the 600 umbrellas in the minimum order. More can be made if the first batch becomes more popular than I've anticipated. UMBRELLA will be pegged to the bitcoin umbrellas 1:1 and will be exchanged for the real thing once they arrive at the warehouse.

Payments will be made by either sending BTC to the UMBRELLA address or sending XCP to the UMBRELLA address. My first thought is to put 300 shares on the DEX for XCP payments and send UMBRELLA individually to bitcoiners who want to pay in BTC. Either way everyone will need a Counterparty wallet (https://counterwallet.io) in order to send/receive & trade UMBRELLA. You heard right, you'll be able to trade these on the DEX while waiting for the factory to deliver the final product!

I'm excited about this offering and I'm here to answer any questions or field any suggestions.
Or contact me: litebitco at gmail

Cheers,
Paul

bitcoinumbrellas.com is being worked on. It will contain the same information as here but serve regular customers not part of this pre-sale.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: November 01, 2014, 03:36:38 AM
Could someone post an example of a the proper api string for Poloniex's trading api "returnBalances"?

From the info gleamed off https://www.poloniex.com/api I know I can get an error message by using the following:
Code:
https://www.poloniex.com/tradingApi?command=returnBalances

But I don't know where or how to add Key and Sign to the headers. This is the only description given on the site:

Quote
All calls to the trading API are sent via HTTP POST to https://poloniex.com/tradingApi and must contain the following headers:

Key - Your API key.
Sign - The query's POST data signed by your key's "secret" according to the HMAC-SHA512 method.

Additionally, all queries must include a "nonce" POST parameter. The nonce parameter is an integer which must always be greater than the previous nonce used.

I'd love an example showing the proper inclusion of the Key and Sign string.
Forgive me, I'm just learning some of this stuff.

you are more likely to get a faster correct response if you pose the matter to poloniex via the chat area.  It's a long question so you will need to be creative with but I think that will be more effective

good luck

Thanks. They helped.
Unfortunately what I'm trying to do requires a GET API so I can't pull any info from their apis at this time.
