621  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: May 02, 2013, 08:44:32 AM

• Before April 1st 2013, at least one BFL customer with a bitcointalk.org forum account established prior to the bet's opening date shall post detailed and credible photos of the device on the forum, including photos of it operating, and report its hashrate. This customer cannot be a BFL employee.

So my only remaining question at this point is, was LukeJr a customer of BFL ?

Yes = outcome FALSE
No = outcome TRUE

Regarding the bet being hosted despite being open to interpretation - very very bad form on the part of betsofbitco.in - this makes them (in this instance at least) incompetent but not scammers.

Myself and a workmate both were eyeing off this bet but decided against it due to the wording being to vague.
If this kind of thing keeps happening I do not see a future for bitcoin wagering sites.

622  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitbet.us scammers ignore delivered BFL products on: May 02, 2013, 03:49:20 AM
It has been pointed out that the biggest(20 BTC) "No" vote comes from MPEx, run by the same people running BitBet. This could be a coincidence, but could also mean that they should have disqualified themselves from betting/resolving this bet in the first place.

This news to me, now I have another site to blacklist.

Here's a list of some games: http://chaingames.net/games-list/

Nice list you have there, this type of game is new to me.
Just being honest here but it feels a touch scammy (isnt all gambling) but Im not quite sure why.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but these games are not provably fair are  they ?

Please FFS employee gramar nazi's or something

You mean "employ"?

It's "grammar".

And there shouldn't be an apostrophe in "nazis".

Do I get the job?

It will be a thankless job correcting a grumpy dyslexic's typing but you are welcome to have it Smiley

Are you seriously suggesting that racism is even in the same ballpark as the word "breast" ?

Yes, yes I am, the same way that people get offended over someone saying the word 'fuck' or 'bitch' or any other number of 'insults' I'm getting completely desensitised to and bored of over the years, there's far worse things that someone can say about another person without even using a slur or swearword, it all just depends on how you use it.

Well, thanks for being direct at least.
You are quite ignorant and as a result racially insensitive.
626  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitbet.us scammers ignore delivered BFL products on: May 01, 2013, 08:41:15 AM
Yeah, just ignore the fact that power specs were never mentioned in the bet.
Right now you are choosing to ignore that power consumption is a factor of performance for an electrical device.

Just ignore the fact that this bet was resolved on obsolete information posted to a forum in 2012.
Linky ?

Just ignore the fact that updated information had been posted to the exact same forum before the bet was created stating that the initial power consumption specs couldn't be met.
So ? That makes you a fool for betting in favour of the bet then.

Just ignore the fact that BitBet is clearly ignoring its own BadBet policy by allowing ambiguous bets.

Here I am with you 100%, wagering sites should not allow ambiguous bets, players should also not be placing wagers on ambiguous bets either. Betsofbitco.in is also in a similair position for allowing an ambiguous bet to be placed then nullifying it later due to being ambigious.

What I would have expected is all the quoted performance factors affecting the wagers outcome should have been itemized in the description.
627  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Calling All New Zealanders into Bitcoin Re. Bitnz.com on: May 01, 2013, 08:30:37 AM
Hi folks,

I posted before about Bitnz.com asking for anyone to vouch for them.

Daniel you can't vouch for yourself.

There were no replies.

A friend of mine had used the site and gave it the thumbs up.

So I put some dollars in last week and successfully bought some bitcoin and transferred them out to my wallet.

So this is a Thumbs up from me.

It would be awesome to see more people trading there as it's a little  light on liquidity.

The more the merrier. The faster we can get Bitcoin working for New Zealanders.

Mr Newton I love that you are contactable by phone.

Don't lose that Please.

Wish I saw this earlier, I use bitnz.com and have had to contact support a few times.
He may be slow to respond but he is pleasant and gets any issues resolved quickly.

http://bitbet.us/bet/337/bfl-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-may-1st/

BFL has delivered many pre-orders already and they are within the +-10% range of the advertised 5GH/s (+-10% running variance).

Don't deal with them, they don't listen to reason and just do what they please.

You are butthurt, OK, but please stop the public whining!

Neither has BFL delivered the promised performance (1GH/s per Watt), nor have they delivered "many pre-orders already".

From the thousands and thousands of pre-orders, how many does BFL claim to have shipped? Maybe around 30.
How many of those did not go to devs, magazines and other members of the family&friends program? Maybe around 10.
How many of those 10 have actually been delivered to pre-order customers? Maybe 5.

Anyway. I would neither call 5, nor 10 nor 30 "many pre-orders" given the total number of orders in the thousands.

Hey Frizz Cheesy

Yet another BFL related event turned to shit..... Its like Inaba is the Midas of shit.

Im heading this one off before I see KGambler crying about it on here:

Code:
Devices must be in scope of at least +-10% of advertised performance in order to be accepted as valid.

No scam, they failed to meet the power specs they quoted (big surprise, BFL lied again).

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192122.msg1992526#msg1992526

No Bitbet did not scam - I suggest all users of these wagering sites review their english skills or stop using them.
If the language is not clear - DO NOT BET.

If you have to get creative when interpreting the bet, then you are setting yourself up to fail.
Bitcoin Betting Sites - Please FFS employee gramar nazi's or something to pull every new submission over the hot coals first.

Im still reviewing the betsofbitco.in fiasco but I am leaning to side with the site operators decision.
I firmly believe they should have never allowed the bet to be placed with such loose wording - have we learnt nothing from MnW's bet ?

To be fair to the site, dealing with BFL is going to get you covered in shit head to toe.

Did they cheat and show a unfinished prototype on a test bench @ their factory and claim that it was actually LukeJr's home test bench ? - sure fucking looks like it to me, can we prove this beyond a shadow ? I think no.
So in this ugly situation I completely understand them nullifying the bet.

I'll update as I read more into it.

I appreciate that I'm probably going to get flak from the people out there who are obsessed with their own ideologues of how people should behave but they piss me off so:

Saying stuff like this is pretty stupid but if we were to go after morons who said this sort of thing about other people without thinking we'd all be guilty.

If and when I fuck up (and I do regularly) I hope people call me on my bullshit and set me straight.
This is just me though, everyone will have their own thoughts on this.

I also find it pretty amusing how offensive nigger is supposed to be yet the word 'fag' now seems okay, even south park had a whole fucking episode on the thing.

Actually Trey and Matt caught a lot of flack over that episode, for a good comparison look @  the episode when Randy Marsh calls our N***** on wheel of fortune. What Stan said to token really hit the spot imho.

N***** has always been used as a derogatory reference to label a race, having some little white kid from the suburbs pronounce they dont find it offensive because of X is little comfort to those that have suffered generations racism first hand.

I'm throwing out the tired old saying of not judging people by what they say but by what they do

Making a speech / long winded blog is something "you do".

Iit's nice to know there's still hypocritical white knights I can hate against even on here.

Exactly what hypocrisy are you referring to ?

I've seen a post once where someone got banned off World of Warcraft for saying the word 'Breast' so it just goes to show you that people out there can be offended by anything.

Are you seriously suggesting that racism is even in the same ballpark as the word "breast" ?

get verified and use direct deposit to your bank, it only costs $10 AUD no matter how much you transfer.

Unfortunately Erik decided to go on the defensive for MPEx and attempt to explain how its perfectly fine to use racial slurs in a derogatory fashion.

SDice is now permanently blacklisted from my small service.

635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ppcoin market crash on: May 01, 2013, 07:32:03 AM
litecoin is to expensive to transfer small amounts of value.

Bitcoin: 1 coin sent =~ 0.0005 BTC tx fee.
Litecoin: 1 coin sent =~ 0.1 LTC tx fee.

its poor economics to do small  transfers of value in litecoin and given litecoin is worth less than bitcoin it is sort of self defeating.

I see none of the litecoin fanboys dared address this directly, its more true now than ever. This Silver to Gold argument is fundamentally flawed, solely due to litecoin having higher fees than bitcoin.

Lets use the fabled "buy a can of coke with LTC", Current LTC price is ~$4.10 USD and a can of coke here costs ~$1.30.
That becomes: 0.3170731707317073 LTC or 0.318 LTC. Now depending on your coins age and the current network congestion to buy that can of coke its going to cost you to 0.01 LTC 0.1 LTC in fees, usually 0.1 in my experience.

So does a 41c to 4.1c USD fee or  fee seem at all reasonable for buying a can of coke ?
A> No of course its not.

Another issue facing LTC right now is botnets, thanks to ASIC's pushing bitcoin difficulty out of their reach with CPU miners we are seeing mass migrations to LTC mining, while good for network security do you really want the bulk of future LTC funds being owned by simple thieves ?

Im still a litecoin fan despite my criticisms but I don't see it lasting much longer in its current form.

Not that I'd bother doing something that grandiose again (I learned my lesson with pranking people when money is involved), but something tells me with the amount of on this forum, nothing you say would stop anyone from participating. I've been calling out scams since 2010.

The world is constantly growing up Matt, for every person that learns the error of their ways there is 2-3 more idiots born that need to learn the exact same lesson themselves.
Glad to hear you wont be doing anymore of those bets, prior to that one incident I was quite a fan of your efforts concerning bitcoin.

To a better brighter future Smiley

https://satoshicircle.com/ added to scam list, when the owner decides to answer my questions regarding the client seed generator I shall review it again.

Note: I am not saying the site operator cheats but merely that he easily could with little chance of detection.
638  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: May 01, 2013, 04:30:01 AM
Since you seem to be turning this into a list of morality instead of fair gambling sites, I've taken the liberty of creating an add-on legend for you.

Moral Legend:

  • = Sells shares in their site through a second party whose owner used the word "Nigger" in a blog
  • = Admin owns and watches pornography of a tentacle nature
  • = Admin is greedy and likes money way too much
  • = Admin eats too many unhealthy foods and doesn't exercise properly
  • = Admin enjoys roleplay or BDSM and potentially cheats on spouse
  • = Admin has a big ego and is generally not a nice person to converse with

MNW =   Cry

Let me know the next time you attempt to scam everyone with a new bet so I can warn them against  that one as well Matt Smiley
639  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: arby.pl - free arbitrage calculator for BTC-e on: May 01, 2013, 03:56:12 AM
Do you calculate every possible aribtrage and show the 7 best ones, or do you calculate only those 7 ones shown ?

I really like the simplicity of the page.

I only do the 7 shown, I have thought of only showing positive arb ops but it would result in the page being blank most of the time.

Simiplicity is key, especially for a site that needs to refresh as often as arby does.

http://betoneurovision.com - Im looking over this site right now, anyone familiar with eurovision would you mind making a small test bet.

I am speaking with the site owner and operator via email, he seems legit - lives in AU and added me on linkedin - but will still run it through the works before adding.
