642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: November 09, 2023, 05:06:46 PM
the point is: when gambling you can get the high of winnings but you also get the "downs" of losing
sometimes losing can make you want to gamble again so you win

with drugs there's usually no instant "down", down comes later (as a hangover let's say)

I suspect they act on slightly different pathways in the brain but we'd have to investigate more to be sure

definitely and interesting subject.
The cerebellum is the system that controls all the activities we anticipate in daily, and that involves gambling. Dealing with gambling as an addicts is definitely going to be really challenging. The results gamblers gets from winning and losing are both slightly different. Gambling comes with ultimate targets which is to earn profits in the system, what's the ratio doubling the initial capital deposited? Though it depend on the solid strategy that follows. Gamblers are persuaded to keep wagering in the system, with the hope of having the urge to win gigantic in the system.

what do you think are the biggest reasons that make gamblers who have rules and a clear system not to stick to their system, slip and make mistakes?
being too greedy?

interesting thing to think about

~snip~
I think there's a crossover between gambling and drug addiction but many things are really different too
with drugs the person usually has a good experience
with gambling the experience could be good or bad, but even with bad experiences the addicted gambler keep hooked to it and craving for more.

I think it is quite literally the same.

When gambling, the person does feel a "high" when winning. If the gambler only experiences losses, it is very unlikely they would come back. That's why casinos design their games so that you win some times, and lose some times (with more losing), so that your brain gets the dopamine release of the wins. That's the hook.

Similarly, drugs like alcohol produce a "high" while you keep sipping your beer. That's why you need to keep drinking as it's the increase of alcohol that makes you feel good.

the point is: when gambling you can get the high of winnings but you also get the "downs" of losing
sometimes losing can make you want to gamble again so you win

definitely and interesting subject.

Very interesting subject, but I think there is one major difference that goes a bit missing here and that is the influence of substances that have an unavoidable effect on hormonal balances in the body and specifically in the brain. Depending on the drugs you take, but especially chemical substances fuck the brain from all directions. Gambling is indeed slightly different in that you don't manipulate your hormonal balance through exogenous chemical shocks. You still have lots of excess cortisol when you lose or also are highly excited when winning, but it is still a different mechanism as no substance collides with the natural synthesis of hormones.

great point, makes a lot of sense
there are different kinds of habits and they can trigger in a behavorial way or in a chemical way, different kinds of addiction.

~snip~
I think there's a crossover between gambling and drug addiction but many things are really different too

Gambling and drug addiction are totally different things and should never be compared. If you want to see how different they are, ask the question, what is the motivation for both? Gamblers are motivated by the hope that they will win while drug addicts are motivated by the need to feel good and forget their sorrow or depression. So the targets and motivation are totally different.

Besides, you never can tell the extent a drug addict can go just to take the substance; the same can not be said of gamblers. Gamblers are law abiding citizens and are responsible tax payers as well. On the other hand, drug is forbidden and mostly done against the law.

literally they have different meanings and purposes, but in theory both have the same characteristics, namely that they are equally difficult to cure if they are at the addiction stage, whether it is gambling addiction or drug addiction, both have the same bad impact mental health and financial.

Gamblers and users do have different desires and yes, as you said, gamblers are law-abiding citizens, but that doesn't mean they justify this activity. In my country, it is very against gambling, so even if we know someone is gambling, even though they are law-abiding, it will still be considered bad just like drug addicts who are considered bad by society.

it's like they say in India:
same same, but different

that' why I said it's similar, but definitely not the same.
643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: November 09, 2023, 04:57:30 PM

interesting how each human works because gambling in a moment of stress is not a good idea for me.

This is hard to say, because their emotion can be change within a minutes . For some people, if they are getting stressed, playing a gamble can be a solution for him. But, they are need to make sure they are will accept anything including losing, Because any lose will be made his stressed more hard.

that's the point
I know gambling in a moment of stress is something that doesn't work well for me
but not surprised that could work for other people

usually when I'm going through a hard emotion I'd rather pass throught it than ignoring it or doing something to make it go away.
Everyone definitely has their own way of getting rid of their stress, but it seems that if I use gambling to get rid of stress, I don't think it's very effective, but yes, it depends on each person's thoughts, for me, using gambling when stressed will only increase stress if we spend so much money to gamble because at times like that our minds are confused so we can't control ourselves when gambling.

Avoiding gambling when you're stressed is the best thing and there are many ways to relieve stress, namely by going on holiday with friends or family to relieve the burden on your suffocating mind, or hanging out with friends might cheer you up a bit.

I think it has a lot to do on each people relationship with money
if they're too concerned about making money and really crave winning in gambling this can definitely affect their decision making in a negative way

do you ever felt things come to you easily when you're relaxed and willing to walk away if you need to?

@darkv0rt3x o wolfram é muito potente mesmo

acho sensacional
645  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: 1 BTC = 17.5 onças de ouro on: November 08, 2023, 02:54:20 PM

as expected:

Vasco da gama 1 - 0 Botafogo

The worst part is that I actually bet on Botafogo, who had good odds, and lost another bet.
In fact, I lost two bets yesterday because I also believed that Santos could beat Cuiaba
Two losses in a row

there are still some ways to make money betting on the Brazilian championship with low odds, high probability events like over 0.5 goals and this kind of bet than pay 10-25% but have really high chances of happening.

a bit of work to do it and keep track of everything but not hard.

Are you betting too Lucasgabd? hahaha  Cheesy
Be careful, the championship is crazy right now  Grin
I didn't think the championship would be so exciting in the end

Edit: look at the top 10

I'm not but I have a friend who has a friend whose cousin's best friend is betting

he says that he's profitable and that most of the time he manages bank roll well and bet mostly on game winners, double chances (one or another, one or draw), draw no bet and one team to score over 0.5 (1 goal)

what are you betting on more often? the team to win?

What Is ChatGPT Doing … and Why Does It Work?

Vale ler.

there are still big websites that don't ask for it
I wonder how long it'll be until we have a truly descentralized internet including hosting of websites, descentralized domains, protection like cloudflare, so forth and so on

you already has some of these things with ENS but still a long way to go.
Still gamblers decision in which site to gamble , either centralized or Decentralized , or having KYC or not yet we are the one to decide .

and I think it is not about hosting or anything but Government regulations.

It's not a first time Roobet launch their Art Contest and they indeed launched many art contests, for events like Halloween, Christmas, New Year and usually with each of four seasons every year, they have contests for Roobet users and community too.

Roobet actually makes their name as one of biggest and most trusted cryptocurrency gambling casinos. I think of an idea to launch a casino's native cryptocurrency. Why Roobet team don't think about it?

They can have a team to build their own blockchain or can use available blockchain to launch their token. Another option is building a partnership with a blockchain team to do this.

Yeah they have been doing it consistently from long time and @so98nn has been winner in few of them also with his amazing pencil crafting skills and it was just another update from to the community that there is another art contest on Halloween theme this time. With more time passing by the competition is rising and artist are becoming really creative in bringing up amazing arts in each category. So appreciate team and @Hhampuz for organizing them at regular intervals.
I remember that even those not winning in the beginning but now? as years goes by? they are improving more and more and yes some past champion seems to be losing now  Grin

let me expand the point on hosting vs government regulations

government powers reach crypto to a certain extent but we know that as an example they can't stop bitcoin
for now most of the hosting websites are companies based somewhere with a government
one day maybe the hosting will be distributed/descentralized in a way that it can't be stopped by any government or person
makes sense?
649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: November 08, 2023, 01:49:00 PM
To be honest, I'm generating the price of bitcoin or any kind of random number using the OpenAi chatGPT right now. Gamble cant be predicted especially with random numbers or bitcoin price I mean precisely. Si Usually I just talk to chat gpt and tell them to generate number in range between xx to xx. Till this date I never won but it is fun to chat with an AI hahahha

understanding that creation of phrases and numbers using an statistical model for the best possible response is different than predicting the future is a must

this article on how LLMs work is quite good to grasp the basics
What Is ChatGPT Doing … and Why Does It Work?

still a funny game, as you mentioned, but probably won't be so accurate, if it gets it right it'll be more due to luck than due to skill, kind like an oracle, maybe

651  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals!|ARGENTINA & AVFC on: November 07, 2023, 07:00:47 PM
But casino always consider big event timing so if this happened during weekdays then they will offer promotion during weekdays. Casino like Duelbit always offer a promotion on most matches from popular team no matter what is the day since they knew that gambler will allocate time just to place bet in special match like this.
Most popular sportsbooks will offer promotions literally every single day, but the best ones will be reserved for the big matches for obvious reasons. The liquidities for such matches are usually really high and promotions are one of the reasons as to why that is the case.

World cup on the other hand is another thing where the whole world gets together, sure the last one was between Argentina and France, but do we think those were the only nations that bet on it? Of course not, the whole world wagered on the result of that game and it was certainly an entertaining game without a doubt.
Agreed. So many people earned tons by betting on Argentina(Draw no bet) in that final which was one of the best in soccer history.

rakebacks are quite common on most sports betting platforms,
though they're done way more for habit forming than for rewarding people properly, it's their business model after all

regarding the game, that was a cool one, you're right.

as expected:

Vasco da gama 1 - 0 Botafogo

Vasco da Gama, who was seen as the favorite in this game, showed that the bookmakers were very right in placing them as the favorites to win this game, it was a game in which Botafogo focused more on playing, it seemed like they were facing a amateur game while Vasco was taking the game more seriously, meaning that in the first big opportunity they had in the half they didn't waste it and scored the first goal. Afterwards, Vasco continued to play well and they even managed to score the second goal, but it was considered offside.

Afterwards, Vasco continued to put pressure on Botafogo's defense and was once again close to scoring another goal, while Botafogo didn't have any great space to create great dangers for Vasco's defense, it was a game in which Vasco played very well and also It was a game that showed that Botafogo do not have the conditions to be champions, in my opinion the most likely champion will be Palmeira. For me, Palmeiras will be champion. I don't see another team that can be champion. It was a shame for Botafogo fans to see such a sad thing this season.

so are you calling Slow Death for Botafogo from now on? haha
let's see what will happen afterwards
have you called this one before the fact? are you betting on the game results?
just curious here

123RF: US$ 7,13 (R$ 35,86) com 14 downloads

123RF: US$ 7,13 (R$ 35,86) com 14 downloads
Curioso é como 14 downloads te geraram $7. Basicamente $0,50 por download. Cheesy

660  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: November 03, 2023, 04:34:49 PM
But if they like to submit their KYC because they know for theirselve that the risk is low then they just need to be careful and be aware about those negative implications about the actions we do.
The problem is that KYC is pretty much mandatory in many crypto gambling sites these days because of regulatory pressure due to which players are only given the option to continue playing after submitting KYC or to leave.

This is why so many players end up submitting their KYC even if they don't want to since they want to keep playing at their favourite sites.

we talked over and over again too on how KYC is useless because some people can pay for other people to do it for them or buy KYCed accounts
in the end of the day making KYC mandatory only creates a parallel market that ends up being a bad thing...

but it's ok, move on, nothing to see here.
You are probably seeing this the wrong way, as long as this world is concerned, there is no system that is perfect anywhere, anything can be abused, and that does not make that thing a bad thing necessarily, take gambling for example, people gamble and enjoy the game, possibly win some money and use it to better their lives. While some other people gamble and get addicted, and instead of having a better life through gambling, they end up with the worst life, this is just how somethings are meant to be.

You may not like it, but if you will take some time to check, KYC have indeed done some good in our system, most especially, when it comes to reducing scam activities online, so KYC is not a bad thing, and the fact that some people are abusing it doesn't make it bad either.

One thing you should understand is that, those who engage themselves in buying already KYCed accounts, or are paying other people to KYC for them, will one day meet their Waterlow when the casino will probably ask them to verify their account with the same documents, they used in verifying it before, by then, if the person that did the first KYC verification is no longer available, then the KYC cheater will begin to run Helter skelter for solution which possibly, there could be non, and they end up losing money they probably have waited so long to win, back to the casino.

One thing you should understand is that making all people pay for the ill intentions and actions of few is usually a bad system design
there are several articles and research online stating how KYC, besides being useless, is costly and adds a lot of friction to businesses

I understand your point of view even though I disagree with it.
