641  Economy / Speculation / Re: Financial Risk Analytics-Subscription Service on: August 15, 2013, 05:03:32 PM
I'd live to have a call with you to talk this 1on1 with you
I'd also like to maintain a friendly relationship with you.
I am available every evening from Fri-Sun this weekend. Just let me know when you have 30 minutes.
642  Economy / Speculation / Re: Financial Risk Analytics-Subscription Service on: August 15, 2013, 01:19:43 PM
Thanks for those questions. They are absolutely valid :

1) on the timing of talking about this: i have seen cypherdoc changing his position multiple times: first he tells me 1.5 years ago he wants to cover other markets ex bitcoin . Second he starts covering bitcoins some months later . Third he says about 3-6 months ago that he will never change his 2.5 BTC per month pricing even if he loses all subscribers as it is only his hobby . Fourth some weeks ago he drops his price which shows that he changed his mind and gets into the competitive position again. It is because of that recent development that I am also stepping up competitiveness.

2) on the phone conversation: no one can prove what was said and like you said it is a great learning for me. I was too naive believing into what he said holds true. Believe me I am not that stupid. If I had the perception that he would start doing a paid bitcoin analysis service like me I would never have agreed to talk with h on the phone.
Anyway I am not fearing competition as we at DCR continue to serve our clients in the best way we can and we want to keep extending our clear market leadership as most followed service.

Anyway, as I said it is my fault but I am still disappointed about cypherdocs practices . The world is dishonest and money / capitalism rules everything - very unfortunately.
On the positive side, bitcoin P2P system is honest and that is why I continue to support it. I love bitcoin.
643  Economy / Speculation / Re: Financial Risk Analytics-Subscription Service on: August 15, 2013, 11:03:32 AM
2) I shared all the insights and even my template with you when you were about to start your service. At that time, you said that you will only cover other markets excluding bitcoin. Then you started it and added bitcoin , competing with us against your initial plan. If I knew you would cover bitcoin upfront, I would have never helped you getting your business off the ground. Now you may say that you wouldn't have needed it, but I am disappointed about the lack of honesty.

there happen to be a boatload of ppl who currently or in the past have subbed to both our letters.

there is not one of them who could possibly step forward and substantiate your claim that they are similar in any way or that i stole something proprietary from you.

stop being ridiculous and delusional.

I can vouch for Cypher on this one as I have subscribed to both subscriptions simultaneously and there is nothing "stolen" or "taken" from one newsletter to another in anyway other than the use of the term "Bitcoin" and Bitcoin coverage in their own respective approaches.

 Smiley

To clarify as there is a misunderstanding :

1) he did not copy any of the content of the analysis
2) what happened is that he asked me to explain in depth how to set up a subscription model and process. We had  a 60-90 minutes Skype call where he asked all questions about it and i answered them in good faith since I (wrongly ) assumed that he won't start to cover bitcoin
My mistake.
644  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 15, 2013, 05:52:56 AM
this is not a promotion. it is just stating the facts that people can use various exchange. And to date, MtGox is still the largest.
It still holds true that my account at MtGox is 0 BTC, 0 fiat.
645  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: August 15, 2013, 05:01:43 AM
silver over 22... long way from 4

btc slowly moving up as well it seems

As I said below 10 $ will probably happen between 2014-2016, not now.
Patience

I agree. With every piece of communication they erode my trust further
Are there any more trustworthy exchanges?

BTC-E is very low on my trust scale.  Withdrawal via bank transfer costs 150 USD minimum.

Bitstamp is in obvious violation of EU regulations, and could be closed any time. (Issuing Ripple USD, which is electronic money according to Directive 2009/110/EC, without proper authorisation.)  Their address is a maildrop in London.  I have no idea who owns it.  Their API is horrible.  I wouldn't trust them with large sums.

Bitcurex perhaps?  Simple interface, API similar to MtGox, been here for a while, quick deposit and withdrawal, no trading fees, but very low liquidity and volume.

Bitcoin-Central has proven to be trustworthy, known and respected owner, but is still down after a security breach at their hosting provider.

Intersango's owners seems to have lost interest in the exchange.

I am not an expert on security and regulations regarding exchanges, but I tend to agree with what you mentioned above. The only thing I'd add is

bitfinex.com

I have used them for 7 months now for BTC trading, BTC margin trading, LTC trading, etc. They have mentioned somewhere that they have registered themselves in HongKong with the financial authorities.
Withdrawals works extremely fast and smoothly as well.
And.. they offer all possible orders: stop loss, stop buy, stop sell, etc.

+1  Bitfinex.

It's definitely sleek.

Whats your price for subscriptions now?

You really should throw up atleast a static webpage with this information so possible customers like I dont have to keep asking. (I could do it for you cheaply in an hour).
Why don't you make your outdated predictions public? That way every potential customer can validate your historical performance before subscribing.
If they're outdated, you shouldn't have any business in keeping it secret.

You can try out bitcoinbullbear.com by digitalcurrencyresearch.com
With historical performances and 50% more attractive prices instead: 0.55 BTC per month

thx for advertising directly in my thread.  that's ballsy.  i guess you want to take this to a whole new level.

Let's just make sure customers get the facts :
1) they have a right to understand that there is a great bitcoin and other financial market analysis service out there that costs almost 50% less than yours. This is a public thread and this is why it is possible to mention it here
2) I shared all the insights and even my template with you when you were about to start your service.

I am happy to continue this conversation privately if you wish.

Anyway, I wish you all the best for the future as we are both bitcoin lovers and competition is always good.

I have cancelled all withdrawals  as none of them went through for 3 months.
Back into BTC, then all BTC withdrawn yesterday out of MtGox and now I am done with them.
For me mtgox is dead as of today.

Where will you trade now ?

low amounts at bitstamp and bitfinex. It works smoothly, e.g. Withdrawals always within 2-3 days.
But I don't risk the farm because I am not sure about their security and regulatory status

Maybe a third sub-sub-wave will hit 110, but I doubt it will eat the wall.
Anyway, it's 3.30 am and I have to go to sleep, so I'll miss the action (if any).

nom nom nom

Bummer! Why does this happen while I'm asleep, again? Can't stay awake 24h / day...
I placed my sell order just below 110, thinking that would be the peak for yesterday.
Oh well, what goes up comes down, eventually.

it has been quite painful in the past to try to pick any bitcoin charts tops...
It's a long term bitbullmarket

bitcoin :-)
654  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox, Bitstamp, et al. on: August 11, 2013, 05:29:52 PM
If it's possible to arb the thing, the gap will be 'insignificant'.  I recall BTC-E used to be a 10% discount to MtGox, I was arbing it like crazy through OKPay.  The difference eventually is about 4%.  After OKPay, AurumXchange and all those guys disappear, gap increase again.  Barring places where moving currency is potentially difficult because of regulation (China) or expensive because of fees, I don't think the prices will diverge much.

Currently, there are disconnect because of difficulty with most exchanges when dealing with fiat.

that the point. Correct
655  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: August 11, 2013, 02:30:24 PM
1d EMA22+21 with no threshold and 0.6 fees

2013-08-11 07:00 Simulation completed. Balance: 72.092 BTC (7425.52 USD)

if I read this well, this model does not outperform buy and hold: only +643%

our newsletter has fared better :-) (had to throw this in :-))
656  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: August 11, 2013, 11:30:26 AM
I checked my numbers, and I had stupidly entered the dollar result rather than the percentage profit. Here are the real numbers:

            4H        DAILY
10, 21   1473%   1582%
11, 21   1509%   1586%
12, 21   1531%   1714%
13, 21   1412%   3056%
14, 21   1279%   2813%
15, 21   1395%   2833%
16, 21   1550%   2698%
17, 21   1663%   3251%
18, 21   1555%   3174%
19, 21   1990%   3074%
20, 21   1990%   3376%

The best number I've found so far in my experimental meanderings has been the 21, 22 on the daily chart: 3555%!

this looks weird. are you sure this is right?
i.e. what happens if it crossed intrady?
is the cross over calculated based on intraday or closing prices?
how far back have you tested it?
657  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 09, 2013, 01:44:17 PM

I will also file a complaint with the SEC, and then close my account at MtGox , too.
Do you really think filing a complaint will help speed up withdrawals?
Not at all. I will be doing this as a matter of principle.
I and other customers would be grateful if you could wait until their banking problems are solved.  If it isn't helping, don't.

Well, if the consensus is that it won't help the majority of bitcoiners , I will hold off with the complaint.
658  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 09, 2013, 11:56:14 AM
Thanks a ton for that.
I will also file a complaint with the SEC, and then close my account at MtGox , too.
I have been with them since September 2010.

How stupid is that? Gox LOST Dwolla, Liberty Reserve and OKPAY. What do you had expected? That this has no effect? That was Goxs backbone for payments.

And Gox is now to be struck with the hammer of the SEC after the chaos was created by the agencys?HuhHuhHuh

This is so wrong.

You have lost faith in Bitcoin. You now want quickly your money to buy after the big crash. That's a pump and dump system in which nothing is permanent. In two years Bitstamp is sued if they have problems. This is exactly the way of hedge funds. So we have no chance.

We are not significantly better than the banks. It's all a big lie. People have made too many profits and and they now full of greed, running for "their" money. It's sad.

It is sad indeed that mthoax screwed this up so much.

And personally, I am happy with what I have done. I have most of my funds secured safely in may when I sold most if my bitcoins . I am not banking much on existing exchanges as they all seem to have risks
I am just talking about principles.

Not at all. I will be doing this as a matter of principle.

I have 95% of my funds all secured in proper accounts or in cold storage.

I have some silver orders to be filled by 2016 at 4-5$ and I am positive...
