641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Practices for Staying Safe When Gambling on: October 25, 2023, 10:02:27 AM
Having a stable healthy gambling habit really goes a long way to show how ready you may be to go long-term in gambling without any possible crash.

Yea,  a stable healthy gambling habit determines your future in gambling.  It also goes a long way to protect your mental and physical health. As Humans, we  naturally have this atom of greed in us. This explains why we normally want more after every gain or win. It becomes a problem to us if we lack self control to curtail our constant yearning.  This is not only applicable to gambling alone but to all areas of life. We can actually learn and adopt healthy gambling habits if we stay disciplined and consistent. We can help ourselves by getting other hobbies where we can channel our attention to too. It may seem difficult but it's worth it.
642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 25, 2023, 08:15:41 AM
All I can say it, keep your greed in check.

That for me was a problem in the past. Once I won, I wanted more. Winning wasn't enough, it had to be happening consecutively.
In the past I got kind of emotional betting. But in a strange way. At some point wins don't give the kick as it was in the past, there was an urge for more. But losses of course kick hard and you want to make it back as fast as possible.

At some point I was bored and stopped betting for a while. It's good to keep your mind off and do something else, it can be so time consuming. Nowadays with all the "responsible gambling and so on" it's easy to request breathers of 1 day, 1 week/month/year. If you feel like you are getting too emotional and too much into it, just request a temporary ban from wherever you are playing, it's healthy.

And be happy with small wins, it's better than small losses ( which pile up fast ).

Greed has caused gamblers more harm than good.  One win motivates us to gamble more. Due to desperation and quest to make more profits,  we make wrong decisions that put us in difficult situations including severe losses and debts. To be a successful gambler,  one must have a sound mind devoid of greed and covetousness. Many gamblers are battling with addiction today because of greed.  Set gambling limits for yourself and try as much as possible to stick to the limits.  This way, you are sure of saving yourself from costly mistakes with severe consequences. After one win, take a break.  And get a job to avoid over reliance on gamble wins

There is a lot of distractions these days when you raise a kid. Everything has their own gadgets and parenting has become pretty much easier because they'll just let the kid sit on the couch and let it alone use the tablet or smartphone.

And with all of these distractions sacrifices the typical parenting that we used to grow with. Technology can really be either useful or harmful depending on how it's used especially on parenting.

Take note that as young as a toddler or less than a year old, there's already the gadget and his/her hand.

This kids become so addicted to their gadgets that they care less about what's going on around them and their parents seem so comfortable with it, provided the kids are not invading their privacy or disturbing their peace.

It gives me so much concern when I see an entire family (both parents inclusive ) addicted to one gadget or the other.  And the kids are left with little or no supervision. What is the future of those kids?

These generation parents have got it wrong. With the way children behave nowadays,  you'll know all is not well and if we do not pay attention to these problem,  things will go out of proportion.
644  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: We were all indoctrinated on: October 23, 2023, 06:24:20 PM
Religion which was supposed to bind us together is tearing us apart. Even the whites who brought most of these religions to us do not practice it the way we do. We have been so brain washed that we are ready to tear our families apart if they do not agree with or go contrary to our religious beliefs and what our priests told us.

Religion will really be of help to humanity if everyone will abide by the teachings of love, where we will see everyone as one not minding the tribe, race, religion and background. If we practice love, some prayer points wouldn't be necessary.  Why pray against your father simply because he is a traditional worshipper? Truly, we have a long way to go.
645  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: High cost of commodities on: October 23, 2023, 06:01:21 PM
We complain things are hard yet we ourselves make things difficult for us. Many Nigerian traders and businessmen are hoarding goods they bought at extremely cheap prices few months back and are waiting till we get to November or even December to sell them at exorbitant prices because they know demand will be high during the festive period. What I like about it is, the high profits they are making,  they will still spend them on other expensive commodities and services.

We Nigerians over the years have developed tough skin to all this hardships. Everyone will survive it whether rich, average or poor. Its not something new to us anymore. I will only advice that we avoid wasteful spendings. We still have our Normal lives to live after festivity. Country hard sha.
646  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: October 23, 2023, 05:19:35 PM
A country's population and its resources should be balanced. Population size becomes a problem when these two cannot complement each other. A country with little resources and millions of people depending on that small resource will have issues. They'll have to struggle to meet up. This has nothing to do with the  leadership of the country. Public infrastructures will be affected because lots of people are depending on it, unemployment and underemployment, low standard of living, high cost of living and even pollution. The government is left with an option of controlling the population and of course diversify the economy to accept the massive population.

Being underpopulated too is not a blessing either. The country will still suffer especially in terms of manpower and national security.  The country will be too vulnerable to their enemies. An underpopulated country need immigrants to fill up the gap.

In all,  while population might be a blessing to a particular country,  it could also be a problem to another country.
647  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Common mistakes by unskilled traders on: October 22, 2023, 07:25:05 AM
A lot of new traders don't learn the basics before starting, but it's important to learn and stick to a trading strategy. Learning comes before earning. Many traders struggle due to mistakes like not having a plan, not using stop losses, and lacking risk management. Overtrading and trading out of revenge are common mistakes too. Remember to take breaks and stay disciplined. Trading is a psychological game!

You're right.  A lot of them just want to start trading and make profits without learning the basics. This accounts for the unnecessary losses. If they do not take break and re-strategize , they will keep making same costly mistakes over and over again.  It takes commitment and discipline to trade effectively.
648  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: October 22, 2023, 03:52:47 AM
Things has really changed unlike before when a graduate is coming out from the university their are job opportunities around the corners, people don't even stress themselves to acquire skills as an alternative just in case they don't get a job. Getting a job as a graduate some years back was a thing never to argue about or think about.  In this recent time things have really changed, expecting so much from the government as a graduate can lead people into serious problems.  The life we live now is so unpredictable, no one can be sure of practicing their desired career from what they have learnt in school.

I think if people really want to be happy in life, expecially undergraduates and young graduate they should learn not to give all expectations of having living job from the government.  If people create the mindset of being creative and productive in this era they will live a more happy life than putting all expectations of getting a dream job from the government.  A productive mindset is what young people needs to make life easy and worth living.

First I must say , being productive is not a guarantee for happiness. People can get happiness from anywhere or anything.  Even the most insignificant things can make one happen.  I think the subject should be, "young people need productive mindset to have multiple streams of income  or attain financial breakthrough "

The young ones are taking over. Especially in my country where there are little jobs compared to the thousands of graduates that graduate from school every year. The youths are now wiser. Everyone has this mindset that their are no jobs anywhere, hence the need to prepare for an alternative just incase you do get a white collar job. Though many naturally love to be their own boss.

Creativity is at it's peak now. One skill acquired generates thousands of income. A person learns how to cook,  advertises her skill on social media,  gets income from customers who patronise her and still gets income from the media she uses to advertise. Content creating now has made youths billionaires.  Many other stuffs we thought were insignificant are now generating money for people. Young people are wiser now . If there's anyone still sitting at home waiting for a miracle Job, then that person is not serious about going far in life.

Getting a paying job is good,  having a productive mindset is a Plus.  Good organisations like people who can help them achieve their aims and objectives. This will guarantee your promotion and you know, promotion comes with added benefits.
649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: October 21, 2023, 05:29:45 PM
You know what they say that success is everybody's friend but failure is a bastard, so if you're a gambler and you're making fortunes from gambling, at the same time making out quality time to be with loved ones, believe me you'll hardly have a problem with their relationship. Especially when you're responsible in meeting up with your financial obligations without making any excuses. I think that the reason why some gamblers might have issues in their relationship is mainly because they give excuses in their financial obligations, if there's nothing to show for all the efforts that they put in gambling.

This may be right to some extent.  While a successful gambler may enjoy some kind of peaceful relationship,  the peace is a short term one. At some point,  your partner will not only be Interested in the goodies that comes from gambling,  they will demand for more and that is attention.  Most gamblers pay little attention to their partners. Where their treasure is, there will their heart and attention be. It becomes worst if he is a gambling addict.

Women like money , yea. But no woman who is really committed  to the relationship will tolerate a man that gives her little or no attention.  What is love without attention.  Aside romantic relationships, gambling addicts pay little or no attention to happenings around their environment except issues and topics relating to gamble. Gambling can actually affect relationships whether the gambler involved is successful or not.
650  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Raising children in this current society on: October 20, 2023, 06:48:41 PM
There is this popular saying that most children born around the year 2000 down are rude. As insensitive as it may sound,  it is actually true. The rate of moral decadence in our society today is alarming and parents need to be intentional in parenting. Parenting is a very big task which must not be neglected.  If you don't inculcate into the children the right values at their tender age, they will learn by themselves from social media or strangers and they might learn the wrong  thing.

Parents are working tirelessly to put food on the table and make name for themselves too in the society.  While they are at it, they tend to delegate their parental responsibilities to maids, relatives,  teachers and even strangers.  Giving room for the children to learn and know things they are not supposed to know.

Parents should take breaks from their busy schedule and social media too to rescue their children and the next generation at large.  Teach the children the right values now or you will never have the opportunity to do it later.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question for those who loose too frequently in gambling on: October 19, 2023, 09:42:16 PM
I have often wondered about the people who have lost a lot in gambling and who almost loose in every gambling activity they participate. What is their reason or motivation to continue even after so many losses?

They have high hopes.
They have seen and heard testimonies about people whose lives were transformed through gambling.  They have once hit a major jackpot and they are hopping to win again. They have see lots of people who made it from gambling.  Their hopes are high.  Everyday they motivate themselves that they too will get there no matter how long it will take, what they lose and what it will cost them. Everytime they lose, they motivate themselves that tomorrow will be better and they will recover all they have lost. They have developed tough skin along the line.

There are still people out there who gamble as a means of entertainment.  Losing or winning doesn't really matter to them. They will continue playing as long as they want,  even if they lose consecutively provided they get the desired fun they want. Their motivation is fun.
652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: October 19, 2023, 09:14:49 PM
Even without these restrictions,  many women still won't gamble.  The percentage of women who gamble will still be low. Gambling is a risky adventure and a good percentage of women are risk adverse. They are so sensitive to financial losses which is not healthy for any gambler. I do not see women as better gamblers,  considering their emotional attachments to bets if they eventually lose

The few women who manage to gamble are stereotyped.  I know an aunt who gambles.  People's opinion about her have been negative and with the fact that she's yet to get married, it is assumed that no man would want to end up with a woman who gambles. All these negative opinions have chased lots of women away from active Gambling
i once saw a study that said that men actually don't really like women who are independent, women who are bossy, women who are too spoiled and women who gamble, that may be the underlying reason why the aunt who gambles at your place is still not married until now, there will be no man who loves a woman like her, after all, men need to be served and respected, most women who gamble are quite stubborn and find it difficult to appreciates her family, what a bad woman to be a mother.

I  know we are in an where gender equality is being preached but there are certain things,  habits or jobs women shouldn't be involved with. Women in gambling bear the most risks in gambling.  Ranging from being stereotyped by the society to having to deal with their mental health.
Only few people have something good to say about female gamblers.   Even male gamblers do not wish to end up with a woman who gambles. A good woman should be responsible and resourceful,  does a female  gambler possess these qualities? It makes matters worse if she is an addict.

Aside this, Women gamble with their emotions. Their mental health might be affected if their gambling habit is not checked.  This is as a result of the emotional stress and anxiety that comes with gambling.  Most women cannot handle this. Gambling does not favour women.  It causes more damage than good to the woman.
653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 19, 2023, 03:39:02 PM
Let's discuss the unique challenges of responsible gambling in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Crypto gambling can be fun, but it's important to keep our financial boundaries intact.

Share your tips and thoughts on staying responsible in this digital realm.

Do not put all your hope in gambling. Remember that gambling is a 50/50 thing. You might lose, you might win.
Get busy with something else that gets you money. Over reliance on gamble wins is risky. You might become addicted Even before you realise it.

Over relying on gambling wins means you can do anything to win because that is your source of income. Even if it means selling your properties.  Setting limits and budgets become impossible here. It is very dangerous to get to this level in gambling.

For the sake of your mental health, see gambling as a fun activity.  It will help reduce the anxiety and stress that comes with gambling.  Gambling is not for the weak,  if it is disturbing your peace,  you can always exit.
654  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government job or private job? on: October 19, 2023, 06:17:11 AM
Before choosing any job (whether in the private or public sector) I'll have to  consider some things. The pay should be attractive and it should not be a job that will drain me. Any job that will make me work like a slave is and worst still earn peanuts is not an option, no matter the sector it is coming from, whether public or private sector.

I do know that most public jobs are flexible and not time consuming but bad governments especially in Africa do not pay the workers on time. Owing the civil workers their wages/ salaries for weeks or months as the case may be.  This action by the government will only give room for laxity on the part of the workers thereby leading to inefficiency and low productivity.  I personally do not like such a work environment.

I will settle for a job that allows me use my skills effectively and which will not drain me mentally,  emotionally and physically.

656  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: October 18, 2023, 10:19:17 PM

They always make us believe that the new government will do better but at the end, they turn out to be like the former or even worse. How will things go well when there is no separation of power? There will be too much power vested in the hands of the military which is not healthy for any government. It will only be fair if the new government will do things constitutionally for the benefit of all.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed.  Who knows, this might be a turning point for Gabon and other African countries who have experienced coup.

The coup always target the government and build the new government using the people and army support. But the problem in the coup is they act like the monopoly and military rule in the country, for certain things the military government will be good. But the coup are less knowledge about the administration,So they can’t hold the government for the longer period. The best way of the government to the people is  democratic government, but the government should work for the people. But most of the democratic government was running for the self benefit.

Democracy originally is the government of the people. Whether the administration is fair or not. The masses have every right to speak up. This cannot be achieved under a military rule where rights and freedom are restricted.  No matter the form it comes with, military government should not be an option.  The primary duty of the military is protection of lives and properties of citizens. They should stick to their duty. A country will do well where there is separation of power.  No institution of government should be made powerful.  Abuse will become inevitable if any institution is made powerful.
657  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Will Nigerians Marketers Accept Bitcoin if Legalized on: October 17, 2023, 08:43:49 PM
Marketers will definitely accept Bitcoin if legalised.  It might take time, but they will have no choice than to accept it.  The only challenge will be illiteracy. We are all Nigerians and we know majority of Nigerians like free or cheap things. No Nigerian will hear about doing transactions with Bitcoin and still ignore it. Especially with all the benefits Bitcoin has?

Similar thing happened during the cashless policy, many market women and business men were forced to accept transfers as a means of payment or use pos to do transactions. At that point,  that was their only option if they must make sales. If not, there were  many competitors out there who would accept any means of payment provided they make sales.  If you can't beat them, you join them.

Same will apply to Bitcoin.  Just like almost every shop in Nigeria have a POS device, so shall it be if bitcoin comes to stay. It will only take time for it to gain dominance. All the people will need is to be educated on how it works.
658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Relying on gamble wins is dangerous to mental health on: October 17, 2023, 08:22:34 PM
Even though gambling winning is very sweet, it is very risky relying solely on it. It is always better to make gambling a means of passive income and not a full time job. Gambling requires funding and when there is no stable income, there will be a huge impact on the psychology especially when there is serious loss that is always possible in gambling.

Yea very risky. Most times, money realised from this wins are used to fund the next game and the gambler is left with nothing if he is not prudent in his spendings. He should also be concerned about addiction which is not a healthy habit. What becomes of him if he is faced with reoccurring losses? We know that there are lots of people who have made it big through gambling.  While trying to make it big like them , we should have a job to sustain us pending when the big win happens.
659  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Reward for a Trading Mentor on: October 17, 2023, 07:40:26 PM
I have a fair knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I can hold down a good conversation in it however when it comes to trading, I have come to the point where I need to up my game. After using a mock trading app for some time, I stopped and tried the live environment. I lost money. Since then I have done some trading again. I feel I need to get back in the game. Right now I am coming in with a different strategy which is a mentor. Yes, I need a mentor in this renewed trading journey who would teach me the practical aspect of it. Because any of us can easily quote the theoretical knowledge of trading.
What is the best reward for mentorship? How do you think I should reward the mentor when I have one? And how often should this be?

If you guys can give me some ideas, it will help me to take charge of the conversation when I meet with the potential mentor.

Thanks.

Fees vary from one mentor to the other and  It is not in our capacity to decide what you should compensate the mentor with. What you should be concerned about is getting a dedicated mentor. While you are in search of a mentor,  it is important to note that you do not rely on  the mentor 100% . You can still do your findings/research on your own. This will help you know where exactly you need clarity.  Will also help you know when the mentor is being cunning or digressing. Most self acclaimed mentors do not give full disclosure on how to trade effectively and efficiently.  If you are lucky to get someone who will teach you whole heartedly, then good for you. But remember this, do not rely solely on the mentor's advice.
660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Governments Ban Cryptocurrency {Bitcoin} on: October 17, 2023, 07:06:24 PM
The government likes control.  When they cannot regulate or control it, they ban it. The decentralized nature of some cryptocurrencies like bitcoin has prevented the government from tracking the activities of the people. If the government allows the usage of Bitcoin,  government revenue will be affected because it will be difficult for the government to ascertain the percentage of tax to be imposed on the citizens. And we know that citizens will prefer to go for an option that will save costs. The value of fiat too will reduce.  This they know, hence the decision to ban bitcoin.

The government also want to be in control in terms of welfare and safety of its citizens.  We have heard of cases where people are kidnapped and a ransom is demanded before the victims can be released or cases of fraudulent practices. Most of this culprits were tracked down from the bank transactions they did. It will be difficult for a culprit doing business with crypto to be tracked and punished accordingly.
The list goes on and on. Cryptocurrency is a threat to the government.
