no active community is the problem

a coin can survive a lost dev by doing a community takeover

but i see no atempt here to do so.......

...
if u mint above 30 days coinage pile is not split but instead if u have multiple small pile they group together (up to 100 DMD) and increase the chance to recieve a POS reward
...

that is, to be sure receive the award POS, need to have the transaction from 100 DMD and more?

no that is once ur coin pile older than 30 days and still not lucky to mint successfully
your coin pile try to group up with similar coin pile in your wallet to increase their chance for POS
where the max amount of coins in such a grouped POS atempt is 100

Quote
example u have 4 coin pile with similar age all above 30 days when u open wallet

the three pile with 1 coin 36 coin and  59 coins will group up and try to compete for a POS rewards as a pile with combined coin weight and coinage of them all
and by this increase the chance to successfull mint

the 4th pile u had have 101 coins already he is to big to group up and have to try on his own until he is lucky

a lot thing i explained about pos min age max age split coins and group coins difference coin weight and coin age and so on is only important if u wana dive in and understand POS in detail

a normal user wouldnt need to dive into coin mechanics just open wallet once or twice a month for a day and be happy see some pos rewards incoming

both users that one with indeep knowledge
and that one who just start and unlock wallet for minting regulary
will earn the same POS rewards

its like watching TV on a LCD flatscreen
the movie isnt better the picture not brighter
just because u can explain how LCD technology works in detail

Hi
You need a more serious approach to the new site http://bit.diamonds Its shell looks promising, but many links do not work. No normal DMD blocks explorer network. At this point it is worthwhile paying the utmost importance. Until now, not work objective monitoring on the site http://coinmarketcap.com
I believe in a great future for this coin, but only if the development team will be strong. And will promote Diamond on the market more resolutely.

thx for feedback
blockexplorer is on work
website u see now is just a placeholder until page is finished

please give input about actions that u see as useful and affordable
a general "promote Diamond on the market more resolutely" isnt much help....

but any ideas are very welcome

just in case someone missed it.....
i think this explains why its now the time
to mine
to invest
to mine and invest
and not to mine and sell...........

VISUALIZATION OF DIAMOND ROLL-OUT PLAN
(TOTAL COINS AND POW/POS COINS PER MONTH)

RED LINE = new coins each month produced by POW (numbers on right side)
GREEN LINE = new coins produced each month by POS (numbers on right side)
TOTAL COINS (numbers on left side)
numbers on bottom of graphic are the months (the graphic represent a 30 year timeline)

i think for now market price is driven by insta-selling miners
daily *1500 diamonds have to be bought if people would sell instant

but keep a closer eye on coin specs and check how coin roll-out will develop over next 30 years

beginning with total coins 450000 a 50% POS will be simultaneous active with the 1 DMD POW reward each block
and start the diamond rush (BLUE CIRCLE) on pic

if u analyze that u can see that this POW mining paradise only last a few months
(to be exact until 1 million total diamond are existing)
later most of coins are produced by POS  (GREEN ARROW) and to do so u need to have diamonds

everyone who sell 1 diamonds instant lose like at least 2 diamonds.....
because every diamond u mine now would at least double if u keep holding and pos it over time

the whole design of diamond is to be a wealth storage coin aimed to be a good investment

i  hope this visualization of coin specs long-term effect of  on coin roll-out
can help u realize how valuable diamonds will be once POW is reduced by 90%
and high POS will be main source of coin creation

that coins are required to create more coins (POS)
will be the reason for lower availability of coins on exchanges and increasing prices
remember only coins in ur wallet gather coin-age and can generate POS rewards

regarding groestlcoin and merge mining the talks ended without a successful outcome

may be you interested in trying to change the algorithm eToken like you did with Diamond?
it would be great! Smiley  please, consider this offer.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=436750.0

first of all diamond source is open source

every community who think they need to try what we have done is free to use parts of source we cant forbid them to use our source
(lot of the "know how" how to archive the fork to other algo and avoid troubles is not easy reverse-engineer-able by just read the source..)

but merged mining and go into a cooperation to make the coin part of the diamond merged mining family is way more than just fork to groestl algo

for this to happen some important aspects are

parent coin is diamond
partner coin must be adapted to use groestl algo and be aux-hashing combatible (to be able reuse hashing from parent-coin)
pow block-time will be set to 60 sec
coins interested to be merge mining partner-coins should have a POW setting that guarantee to be  longtime attractive for POW miners

i think eToken have a to troublesome past and a unclear amount of premine coins to be considered as a good partner-coin

but if u have ideas why thats wrong and eToken could add something of value to the diamond family just send me a PM and we discuss it

our basic rule for selecting possible partner-coins was

is not a joke coin
is not a scamcoin
is not a coin with bad reputaion

im not sure if we could answer all this point with NO....... in case of eToken

Hi all!

I made a fork of SPH-Sgminer for Groestl algorithm. See here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652849

If you have AMD GPU, please try it. I'm getting 16.2 MH/s on R9 290 and 7.56 MH/s on R9 270X.

In a few days I'll post 17.0 MH/s R9 290 kernel (I'll post update in this forum).

I'm planning to work on improving this miner in the future.

You don't need to specify difficulty multiplier anymore.

Diamondcoin is natively supported, you need to specify "--normal-hashing" parameter. See example.conf in ZIP.
So now you can have Groestlcoin, Atheistcoin and Diamondcoin all in the same pool list.

If you have any problems with this miner - please post directly into that forum.

PS: If you are on NVidia, you might want to check out ccMiner 1.1 (it just got got substantional speed increase for Groestl mining)

Thanks

good news thx

we (Diamond[DMD]) can fulfill all requirements beside non moderated thread

in my opinion a clean up of thread by remove as example bug-reports of already fixed bugs and so on  make reading the thread much easyer

moderating of a thread is well used not a tool of censorship but a tool to reduce redundant information and outdated infos

Grs, Diamondcoin, and  Atheistcoin should merge mine they are the only 3 coins that use this algo everyone else is x11 or x13

i dont see atheistcoin with its very agressiv naming as a cooperationparner

same as a muslimcoin or jesuscoin

if someone wana have a coin and transport the message of logic and sience than why dont call it siencecoin or logicoin...
atheistcoin just by his name isnt worth to consider for anything

we wont work together with jokecoin or coins with a bad reputation

A question about the pos..

I had lots of DMD in my wallet for months, a month ago I transferred them to cryptsy and then moved them back to my wallet.

Will I be able to get pos coins for the time BEFORE the transfer?

the short answer:

any transaction set coin-age of the involved coin pile to to zero

-------------------------------

the long and confusing answer:

u have to think of your wallet as a tresor with a lot of little pile of coins inside

when u receive a transaction than a new little pile is put into ur tresor

this little pile have a coin-age of zero

when u send away coins than ur tresor take the youngest pile and remove the amount of coins u want to send

BUT the coin-age is set to zero for all coins in that little pile

thats the reason why people developed coin control so u can select from which little pilet u want to use the coins

the basic logic isnt optimal by automatic selecting the youngest pile because this could also be a pile with 10000 coins and age 7 days

but thats still lot more coin-age than a pile with 10 dmd age 30 days

ok basical i overanswered ur question sorry Wink

our POS code try to counter the risc of losing coin-age by split big coin pile into smaller part when u successfull mint between 7-30 days coin-age

if u mint above 30 days coinage pile is not split but instead if u have multiple small pile they group together (up to 100 DMD) and increase the chance to recieve a POS reward

in one of the next wallet releases we will also add coin control maybe even in a advanced version (what other coins have now as coin control is very basic and required the user to choose the pile he wana use)

why isn;t Qora on your list?

at least all signs looks like

very slow webfrontend

when there will be POS a Diamond will rise in price or will fall in price? and why?

The combination of POS and POW without reduced rewards will lead to more DMD in circulation (bad for price), the start of POS will make DMD more attractive (good for price). Not sure which of the two will influence price more though...

i expect a price drop first week because all old gathered up coin-age will be paid out
so i expect total coins will within a week jump from 450000 to ~600000

some might be silly and try to dump the POS earned coins

once this sell rush is over i expect a big rise of price

if i did wrong estimate and most coin holders stay holding their POS rewards too
(can happen because people who mint are not instaselling minners but investors who hold this kind of people wont sell fast at low price...)

which i strongly suggest to them because ur new generated coins will add to ur next 50% POS rewards
and holding most coins at least until POS reduced towards 25% (at 1500000 total coins) is in my eyes the plan to go

until then lot new stuff will be done for diamond and lot people will stay holding
because diamond did reach a spot between the big coins with longterm upwards trend
and beeing one of the crypto success stories people will talk about in 10 20 and 30 years

--------------

if u ask me why im pessimistic about how price shorttime develops
its maybe because i wana increase my share a bit and buy more cheap diamonds  Cool
please sell drop the price as much as u can

(no premine coin so we from foundation have to take care on our own to get hands on some diamonds. the foundation share isnt given to us but used for the coin development and promotion)

Hello all - I have a basic staking/minting question.  When the POS kicks in do I manually have to do anything to stake/mint or does it happen automatically?  And then once it does stake/mint do I need to do something to make it happen again or is it also automatic every 30 days or so?  Is there any good reading material on how this whole thing works or can someone explain it please?

Thank you in advance.   Smiley
make sure u wallet is unlock and pos is 7 days now 50 % beginning with total coins 450000 a 50% POS will be simultaneous active with the 1 DMD POW reward each block

Hello. I have a couple of (stupid?) questions. If PoS will be active simultaneously with PoW, do I have to run my wallet on a computer that already runs a miner? Or can I use any computer for minting?

I also see that on the OP it says "PoS block solving target time ~ 600 seconds" and "PoW block solving target time ~ 60 seconds". How can PoS then be active simultaneously with each PoW reward block? Or is it just a printing error?

Hope that someone can explain this, thanks.

POS is independent from mining
all that u need to earn POS rewards is coins that are old enough and a unlocked fully synced wallet to be able compete for the next POS block

with the wording simultanous active POW and POS we mean that like lot other coins we not set up in a way that POS only kicks in after POW stage ends

and with the 600 sec POS block time (should be better called block spacing) we archive that not many orphan blocks are created

and POW mining not interupted by chain-atempts to create POS rewards

for POS its not important to create regularly a block because our network is allways additional driven by endless POW

and once POS blocks are created they protect network for a long time (mature time 200 min)

i think our whole concept did take all experinces coins gathered since POS was imnvented and create the perfect Hybrid POW/POS setup

that why we called it Diamond Evolution

beside the unique total coins triggers (which i see at no other coin)
we mainly used existing technology but combined it in a perfect interacting way together
with main focus on wealth storage and growth
this way we not creating a generation 2 or generation 3 coin
but the top of generation 1 evolution

to be a generation 1 based coin is no shame
the most valueable coins are

Any way to run miners over stratum on danbis pool with that modified groestlcoin.cl file?

if ya have a miner with -diamond option u also have a diamond.cl

make a copy of modded groestlcoin.cl  rename it to diamond.cl and overwrite the original diamond.cl

in that area there is no difference between the two implementations of the groestl algo

the difference is just the transaction hashing not the POW hashing

such a miner should work with improved performance if used together with the 14.6 amd driver

6560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GRS] GroestlCoin: First Grøstl | PoW/PoS | Democratizing Mining | AES acc on: June 13, 2014, 01:15:26 PM

You read economic books too much. There are other factors, too.
Like the PRICE of the coin. And the reward given to miners. And liquidity - it a lot of turnover at exchange.

For example, what helps me, if the price is 'right', but the market is too shallow (i.e. only 0.01 BTC is deep and I have 3 BTC to sell).

sorry u are wrong

if supply is constant then the only factor that set the price is demand

wana have higher grs price create demand
give people a reason to wana have more grs

we at diamond create demand in this first step by the reason that owing diamonds enable u to produce new diamonds

which is in our case with high 50% POS really a good reason to gather up some diamonds
