tl;dr It's a financial buzzword.

Do you agree with this? I'm a bit iffy on that OP.. difficulty has a huge play in this, plus foreign markets.

[/quote]

No. I see what OP is saying.. and trying to say.. but if you look back at his post history.. he's been predicting single digits.. btc/usd $0.. imminent crashes.. you name it.
In short he is uber-bear and wants you to know about it.
He's also been wrong on everything i've read..(can't say i've read ALL of his posts)

So.. Warsoraj predicting doom = I take this as yet another bullish sign for bitcoin.

I LOVE!! this idea.. Count me in!!! See ya in Frankfurt next May  Tongue
663  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this good time to buy on: October 21, 2013, 07:57:06 AM
Yes!!

I bought €600 of gold last week, but i wish i had of invested it in bitcoin now.. We still have quite a way to go up.. even before any mid-term crash.
You could easily double your money mid term. And much more long term.. is now a good time to buy?? Yes, in my opinion.
btw.. i bought in july.. my investment is up 78% since then. Buy and hold some and trade a small ammount if you want.. but i'm buy & medium-long term hold.
664  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: October 21, 2013, 07:45:31 AM
Next to the red 5, anywhere above wave 3. Market Capitalization (weekly) is already at a new alltime high:

Everyone probably need to know where price will go after red 5... But I dont wanna scary you before time will come =)

Hpmmm.. is that a good or a bad scare??? I know which type i prefer!
665  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: October 21, 2013, 06:45:05 AM

So.. where to next??

Besides, my midterm count 2 (posted half year ago) materialized in full (except 3 was a bit higher)

So.. where to next??
667  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin / USD price prediction on Dec 31 2013 on: October 20, 2013, 10:40:59 AM
Sub 200$.

I'm gonna plump for $186.40

(I pulled this figure out of my ass like everyone else!)

Okay.. so this prediction is now looking shortsighted!!

$240!
668  Economy / Economics / Re: A compelling reason for traders to accept Bitcoin! on: October 19, 2013, 12:19:53 PM
Eventually, Bitcoin will not be so subject to wild swings in purchasing power.  We will think in terms of bitcoin not dollars.  In fact bitcoin has the potential to be more stable in perceived value than do government currencies based on debt.

Every day the value of the dollar goes up or down, yet in our daily lives we rarely think about that.  Behind the scenes though, the value of the dollar changing from day to day as it does is a very important consideration in trade between countries and the purchases of large amounts.  You just don't see it if your personal financial world is confined to your own narrow space of buying the weeks groceries or purchasing clothes, etc, though you likely know that, in the long run, the purchasing value of your dollars is falling down down down.

Don't count on bitcoin being tied to some sort of dollar value in the minds of its users forever.  Eventually it will stand on its own.  Who knows, maybe one day people will be talking about dollars being worth X-number of bitcoins!  The way the US dollar is heading, we may be buying paper dollars with our bitcoins for pulp scrap to be remade into useful paper products.

Agree 100% - but i never once mentioned dollars!!! me talk in euros.

Of course the price can go down.. but if i sold something last week for €1000 @ eur/btc = €107 i ask for 9,35 btc..

Today i do my accounts.. and that sale is now worth  €1322 = i win.. profit margin is up around 200%..
and the overall trend (to me anyway) seems up.. reward : risk ratio is worth it
669  Economy / Economics / A compelling reason for traders to accept Bitcoin! on: October 19, 2013, 11:28:35 AM
I just thought of something.. that makes acceptability of bitcoin for real-world sellers of wares and merchants a total no-brainer.

Say i was to sell something i valued at €1000 - but took payment for it in bitcoin.

Right now €1000 = 7,24.... bitcoin (btc/eur @ 138)

Yesterday that 7,24 bitcoin was worth  only €833.. €/BTC @ 115

last month it was only worth around 702,... @ €97

..so i sell something (a ware) today worth €1000 and gladly accept 7.25 btc for it..

and after a week.. month or so.. when i do my accounts.. that €1000 sale is now worth €1350..

Seems like a no-brainer to me anyway...

670  Economy / Speculation / Re: $3 rise in the last hour on: October 19, 2013, 10:27:16 AM
Where is all the Bitcoin Bubble hype in the media this time?  In April they were going crazy with how the bubble was going to burst when it was about this price.
I think at that time, the price movement was much faster. I think from under this price point to the ATH was less than a week. Don't have the same kind of frenzy this time.

but it's the weekend??
it's some rally tho considering

672  Economy / Speculation / Re: Be Honest- who hopes the USA defaults so BTC skyrockets? on: October 16, 2013, 01:54:33 PM

True that, while the US and UK govs need to up there game, it also has to be with help from these tax loophole country's. Good to see this today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24542794

It's jusst a pity that it won't make a bind bit of differencce as they'll just nominate Bermuda or Cayman Islands or somewhere else with 0% rate instead.
The only thing this will do is make them think twice about it. By that i mean the corporations and other governments and durastictions. It may begin the long slow process of tightening the net.. but unless you get all countries to agree on taxation, there will always be somewhere for them to go.
673  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 11, 2013, 07:44:11 AM
I did get a shock when i started bitcoinity this morning and saw Mt.Gox 0.00...

I was like wow.. the world ended (the bitcoin one) and I missed it.

But it turns out it was only scheduled maintenance.. i feel so much better!
674  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Silkroad Launch another bubble? on: October 09, 2013, 10:25:08 AM
kehtolo,

I was not expecting the first response to be rational so thank you. Smiley

Thanks!!  Cool

I should add that i don't think the US will default. There will be a rescue at the 11th hour llike there always is.. (or maybe not?)
This should make it easier to correlate any rises with the re-newed interrest (searches, press articles) in Bitcoin
675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Silkroad Launch another bubble? on: October 09, 2013, 09:32:15 AM
Interesting.. I clicked on the links and had a look at a few things.

There is a definite spike in interest since the SR takedown. Will this translate into an increase in Bitcoin value? I really don't know.
It's one thing for people to be curious and to find out about this 'Bitcoin' thing they're hearing about.. it's quite another for them to speculate.
It depends on the person and the articles they read, if Bitcoin is painted in a good or bad light and it sounds like something that may be of interest to them.

In short, I don't think it will cause a bubble per-se but we may see a slight, slow and steady rise in value. But it could also be argued, we would be seeing this anyway.

It will be interesting to re-visit this topic over the coming weeks / months to see what if any correlation can be drawn.

The looming defauly of the US$ is altogether more interesting and will have much, much more impact on not only the price of Bitcoin but also everything else worth investing in.
(Gold, Silver, Bitcoin, Platinum)
..8 days to go!
676  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop panic selling on: October 07, 2013, 07:27:26 AM
shame when a bunch of libertarians get together to bash on "potheads" for the sake of their money
I'm not libertarian myself, but I'm using potheads in a generic sense for people that were supporting the Silk Road economy. I know many people that smoke pot occasionally and they are great people. But I despise the the SR/Bitcoin connection.

So stop perpetuating the SR/Bitcoin connection.  Bitcoin isn't synonymous with SR.  Yes it's played an important role in Bitcoins history, but SR was on the back-burner as of late.  Do you despise the Dollar/Drug-cartell connection do-gooder?
LOL. While you are right about SR on the back-burner lately, discussing is not perpetuating. I never talk about SR, on here or in person. I'm talking about it now because it is the topic of the day and the PR connection has existed until this day. I didn't say they are one and the same, but there are uneducated people that do believe so. My words are reasonable because there are a lot of lawmakers that know little about bitcoin aside from the fear inducing hot topics like 'you can buy drugs with on secret illegal drug websites.' And that is all they know about it.

The dollar/drug-cartell connection is an old, well established issue, not a hot new technology that is supposedly untraceable (which causes lawmakers to freak out). USD is established, XBT is fresh new territory, with all kinds of people frequently discussing the legal issues. I personally believe this is a great day for bitcoin as it gives lawmakers comfort that they can police this stuff. And yes I am a do-gooder.

You are SO wrong. They CAN'T.. CANNOT 'Police this stuff' - what fucking planet are you on? Oh right, the one where you like being told what you can do and who you can buy things from.
If you read the charge sheet you will see how Dread Pirate Roberts got himself caught. By trying to by a big time charlie. Except he wasn't smart enough to be the big time charlie. He was an idiot who made school-boy error after school-boy error.
SR WASN'T taken down because the authorities 'can police this stuff' -- they simply can't. If anything, this case only proves that more than ever do-gooder.
If people want to buy drugs, then let people buy drugs.. they are going to do it anyway.. i don't see how it is any of your business.
Anyway.. i'd argue that the bad-PR associtation has now been removed and Bitcoin has passed a major test. But make no mistake, just cos SR is now gone doesn'T mean that you can'T buy whatever through the darknet and TOR with Bitcoin.
677  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of Silk Road is good for the long run on: October 07, 2013, 07:07:25 AM
Good for Bitcoin? Yes.

A major test has been passed. Despite the sudden drop in value, it rebounded nicely since.
This tells us that Bitcoin can survuve the removal of SR. This also tells us that an associtation with illegal drugs has been removed fromm the minds eye of policy and lawnakers.. not just in USA either.

Another major thing it tells us is that TOR, BTC and SR wasn't compromised, so much as DPR was a total fucking idiot.. if you read the charge sheets and think for one second about what he was doing, the gravity of it and how often and stupidly he fucked up, the he deserved what he got.

There is obviously a market.. there is obviously a proven way to do this.. there is currently a vacum. All it will take is someone who is a little criminally smarter than DPR (wouldn't be too hard) to fill that market need, and it should last longer than SR ever did.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 02, 2013, 03:01:30 PM

In the comments:
Ponzi scheme, scam, etc. etc. I read a lot of poorly informed views on this. Most of them totally wrong of course.
It seems ignorance pervades everywhere. Thier loss i suppose. (Assuming Bitcoin will succeed)

In the article itself.. meh. A couple of points were okay. But it doesn't go out of it'S way to explain it.. and a pretty poor article in my opinion.
