661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is the Exchange Rate of Bitcoin to USD and Other Currencies Determined? on: July 24, 2023, 12:03:10 PM
I'm not sure about other currencies but other currencies are pegged to their USD value so basically USD is the only rate we follow for BTC and the other currency just follows the value of USD in their local exchange rate. It's funny how simple we can determine the prices but if we were to investigate further then we will see that it's a whole can of worms, the demand is influenced by other factors too that I am too lazy to mention.
662  Economy / Economics / Re: Federal Reserve launches FedNow instant payment service on: July 24, 2023, 06:08:58 AM
I'm basing my opinion on the OP and the article, this sounds like a good thing especially for fiat because now you don't need a bank open to deposit or withdraw your money. Maybe if there's a way where they can demonstrate how it works and how to use it, so it becomes easily adopted by their people. What worries me though is that there's no transaction fee which means that they haven't found a way to make sure that banks continue using the system, I hope that the transaction fee system would come from the Federal Reserve and not be shouldered by banks which is going to make it complicated since different banks will definitely do different systems.
663  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mixin Safe: A Convenient and Decentralized Multisig + MPC + Timelock solution on: July 24, 2023, 05:23:29 AM
Hi, I'm one of the reviewers in your Review Campaign, I have to ask whether you are shouldering the 2 USD payment for creating a safe? I don't mind paying for it myself but I have to make sure that there's an option that you will be able to shoulder the payment. I'm currently checking it right now and that's the only part that I'm stuck.
664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Impact of Bitcointalk forum in our lives on: July 23, 2023, 02:38:56 PM
I would be lying if I say that it impacted my life so much, if I'm being honest, being involved in this forum is comparable almost to being a regular poster in Reddit, the only difference is there's a way to make money here although that's not entirely a difference. What made the most impact to me is probably bitcoin itself and not the forum, bitcoin changed my mindset about money, didn't know that I wanted freedom in my finances although I don't want to be too attached to material stuff anymore. Maybe I am still finding how this forum impacted me because there's still so much to learn.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Appeal to the Average Joe and Jane Bitcoin Investors: Buy Bitcoin Now! on: July 23, 2023, 12:27:32 PM
Sure I'll buy some, when there's money left in my paycheck, 60% goes to my bills while the rest goes for my daily expenses, I live alone and my monthly paycheck is around 250$, it might not be a lot to most of you but I can manage for a month with that money. In conclusion, I don't have any money left to buy bitcoin now.

P.S.
That's not my situation, I'm talking in perspective about what's an average Joe/Jane is in my country although I could be wrong with my assumption.
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin competition. on: July 23, 2023, 08:43:46 AM
~
Altcoins were going to appear sooner or later as this is the way any free market works, if one company releases an amazing product that no one saw coming then the rest of the companies on the same market will do everything they can to catch up, and while not exactly the same this is what we are seeing with altcoins and even CBDCs, as governments are creating their own coins as they cannot allow bitcoin and stable coins to not have any competition, now are altcoins a net positive to this market? That is a difficult question, with a few altcoins getting a yes for an answer, while the majority are a net negative as they are nothing but scams with extra steps.
Whoa whoa, calm down with your lumping altcoins with CBDC, imo CBDC is an insult to the core vision of cryptocurrency which is freedom from control whereas CBDC is the exact opposite of that. Also, there's no different free market, there's only one free market. Regarding your question, I think that it's a net positive given that altcoin season is an indicator for the movement of bitcoin right? Anything that helps you predict bitcoin's movement is a net positive in my book.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Breaking FUD magazine is now also available in German! 🇩🇪 on: July 23, 2023, 06:04:01 AM
what makes you so unique because I'm sure that there are millions of articles already doing this maybe even more.
You are greatly overestimating if you think that there are millions of articles out there which paint bitcoin in a good light and debunk the propaganda around it. The number becomes much smaller when you check how many of them actually give reliable information.
We should encourage as many writers as possible to talk about bitcoin from an honest point of view cause we have very little of those around.

- Jay -
Well, it's been a decade for bitcoin already, I think that it's enough time for people to talk about bitcoin in positive light not to mention that I am talking about overall when it comes to bitcoin, people like you are only concerned about the market price of bitcoin, that's why you're bombarded by FUD, I was under the impression that the technical aspect of bitcoin is included in my statement but no, you proved me wrong.
668  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Fake Ripple #Xrp airdrop website is available online. on: July 23, 2023, 04:03:03 AM
And yes, since Ripple Labs have won their case against SEC, this criminals wanted to take advantage of the situation and try to trap newbies with this fake airdrop and everything that is related to Ripple or XRP.

So thanks to the OP for dropping this warning. And then for us, we should also report this website. And then maybe also warns other outside of the community about the dangers of this kind of fake airdrop involving XRP.
Too bad that these type of scams is like a hydra, cut off it's head and two heads will grow back, I'm tired that it's just catching these scammers, I hope that we can reach out to more people about these type of scams to inform them but then again, a lot of people don't like to be informed especially if the information drive isn't interesting.

Pro tip to every newbies out there: If something big and positive is being announced about a certain cryptocurrency, always expect that scammers will join the fun and ride the wave to try and scam unaware and uninformed people, they always will. If something is too good to be true, it ain't.
669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Breaking FUD magazine is now also available in German! 🇩🇪 on: July 23, 2023, 02:39:48 AM
How do you exactly do that though? I mean a magazine that's sold publicly can't exactly target a specific demographic if it's sold to everyone right? Pretty cool though that you're more on breaking the stereotypes by presenting facts and not just going on tirades to defend bitcoin but a lot has done that before, what makes you so unique because I'm sure that there are millions of articles already doing this maybe even more.
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Presidential candidate announces plan to back the US dollar with Bitcoin on: July 23, 2023, 01:16:30 AM
Hey, want to know what happened the last time the financial institutions was threatened by policies of the presidents? Is Robert Kennedy Jr. planning to follow in his father's footsteps? Getting assassinated isn't the way to go unless he has big backers and he has a lot of friends in the CIA. Also, it's not worth it right now with the current volatility of bitcoin, if say it's backed by bitcoin, USD will be tied to the fluctuations in the market which isn't favorable for the US not to mention that transition would be difficult, didn't the Federal Reserve or the US Mint stated that they will not transition to using polymer for their paper currency? Imagine how difficult it would be for them to do that and then expect them to do this which is by far more complex than the currency material transition.
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: lost access to my bitcoin wallet... on: July 22, 2023, 12:20:35 PM
all my private keys was stored on the hard drive
I guess you'll have to say goodbye to your bitcoins because if that hard drive can't be fixed or the contents of it not recovered in any way, you might as well start moving on. Also, follow what @mk4 said, is the recovery worth the effort and time, if not then don't bother and just be better at safekeeping your wallet. Also, make a habit of checking if your electronic devices are in the vicinity of water.
672  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Travel to the Caribbean with BTC on: July 22, 2023, 07:57:18 AM
As @Pmalek said, elaborate on what you're offering, details of the services offered should be presented so in a way it can help you lessen the FAQs for your services. I've checked the island and it looks promising, especially since it's a Carribean island although I don't get why make it a bitcoin island, maybe expound on that stuff too, maybe I'm not the only one who wants to know the reason why Roátan should become a bitcoin island.
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin competition. on: July 22, 2023, 06:21:46 AM
even if there are alternatives, they will always invest in Bitcoin. And we must admit that there are some instances where alts benefit Bitcoin.
Exactly, and it's also worth mentioning that there will always be innovation so people will try and replicate bitcoin's success and some might even improve upon what they think bitcoin is lacking or that they're just ambitious and they want to create a competition. Nonetheless, even if there is no competition for bitcoin, I don't think that the price will go this high because without competition, there's no notoriety that bitcoin is experiencing right now and even if there is, I don't think it's going to be the same.
674  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Warning: sigft.com is a scam website that steals your crypto on: July 22, 2023, 03:53:26 AM
Looks like OP never replied in this thread (suspicious),

my assumption after reading is that they look for strong backlinks and to spread their malicious/scam website exactly here on biggest crypto forum

Would be good to start moderating this board and threads like this, just my 2 Satoshi
I want to support your support your suspicion too, OP should've replied to this thread a long time ago if it was really a problem for him/her, I wanted to counter your claim by presenting OP's Medium but it seems that OP used an inactive Medium account to post because the post prior to his article is from 2019 in Vietnamese although OP does switches back to English on other previous article. If you're right, this is such a brilliant way to scam people by spreading these links although I don't know how they expect people to get in it if they tagged it as a scam already.
675  Economy / Reputation / Re: deadsea33 questionable merit history on: July 22, 2023, 02:02:07 AM
~
Is it one puppeteer controlling all the accounts involved as part of a ranking up process on his accounts or is it a deal between other farm operators to send/receive merits between themselves in order to build up the accounts involved. That will be discovered soon.
Imagine if you are right about the latter, you're getting 2 farms because someone in the other farm just messed up their merit cycling which is definitely a bad news for both farms, imagine that this investigation is going to lead to a deeper rabbithole. Hope you uncover more and that this kind of abuse stops because it's unfair to those who try to earn it honestly. If the former is right, I think it's weird that they only messed up this time, maybe this is a new owner or just plain stupid of that person that they got too complacent about hiding their abuse.
676  Economy / Reputation / Re: deadsea33 questionable merit history on: July 21, 2023, 03:15:45 PM
I'm going to kind of feel like an idiot if this _hiloveua_ account turns out to be connected to a farm. I just merited them a couple hours ago in the Countdown to next rank thread. To be fair, I didn't look into their post history. I asked them to read the rules of the countdown thread and tell me why they shouldn't have posted. They answered correct so I gave them the 2 merits they needed.

Find out all the accounts connected and post the proof(real proof) and i'll have no issue tagging them.
I actually saw it but I don't think it's not something you should feel bad about especially if you didn't know, I mean the merit is nothing if it's bombarded by red trust from DT, no point using that account anymore if that person plans to use that account to make money through campaigns which is most likely.

Regarding the suspicious merit history, there's something really fishy about it and the interval in merits aren't that far and wide and the frequency is following some pattern so either it's most likely someone who has bought merits or in the unlikely circumstances, it's a troll trying to mess with people by doing merit abuse.
677  Economy / Reputation / Re: Pi4ur Scam Project on: July 21, 2023, 01:48:32 PM
First of all, I had a huge laugh reading the comments of everyone here, including OP  Grin

I went through the feedback of OP and found he's guilty of supporting scammers and cheating Bounties with alts karma did get OP.
I didn't know about the feedback first so I got two good laughs in this post, OP has fallen for a scam with that kind of website which is really fucking weird because the website is goofy asf to be taken seriously, even the name Pi4ur sounds like even a kid who wants to be the cool kid in school write down on the back of their notebooks. Either you are totally oblivious that it's a scam or you are in it and the owner of the project didn't cut you in on the profits.
678  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading tips that helpfull for beginners on: July 21, 2023, 11:47:01 AM
Of all the tips listed by OP, demo account is the one that I can attest to be the best one for beginners, no risk since no real money is involved and you gain the valuable experience for trading, you can go crazy on how you trade and see what happens if you were to do it. Many other people in this forum would disagree with me though, they see demo account or paper trading as a waste of time because they don't like not getting paid when trading.
679  Economy / Economics / Re: What is political Economy. on: July 21, 2023, 10:22:11 AM
OP, you need to collect your thoughts much better, what I'm getting at this post is that you're talking about how politics affects the economy. This is just me but I think that the politics is a really big factor in a country's economy because the state has a control over all the stuff that's within that country, be it labor, agriculture, population, urbanization and tourism, the politicians create the policies that drives the country's economy to go up or down. So in conclusion, the less corrupt and incompetent a government is, the more that country's economy will prosper.
680  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GG.BET scam on: July 21, 2023, 04:37:05 AM
anyway, I wonder if there is an update, it's been several days since OP last logged in, I wonder if the case has been resolve or not.
It seems to me that OP has either forgotten about this complaint and never bothered to come back to do some updates like most newbies who post in the Scam Accusations board or the complaint has been resolved and never bothered to update us which I see is also normal here. I just wish that more newbies who post in this board care to update what happens next so people aren't left hanging around.
