681  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is this OKEx Site is it safe? on: October 28, 2019, 08:29:22 AM
I am rather familiar with crypto trading and trade once so every often, but recently I found this new website called OKEx and some of my fellow trading friends are using it. Is it safe to trade in it? I worry whether my friends are safe when they trade.

Okex has been in the cryptospace for quite sometime and i think it's a good platform to trade on unless you have had an issue which makes you doubt it. Also, becareful you don't visit any clone sites of the original Okex website (https://www.okex.com/lang/en-US/)or else you will get phished and hackers would have access to your account. However i suggest you move this topic to The Marketplace board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=5.0) as this topic is suitable over there.
682  Economy / Economics / Re: is it possible that the bitcoin was created by governments? on: October 27, 2019, 11:03:55 PM
According to conspiracy theory, Is it possible that the bitcoin was created by governments to gain financial strength in the modern world?
What theory are you talking about? Do you mind sharing some references to your claims though i have also thought of this idea myself i have not found any evidence to buttress this point. maybe you can help us with any solid information that you may have in making such claims because this rumour has been in the minds of people for sometime now. hopefully you can help clear the air.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum 2.0 is shaping up on: October 27, 2019, 08:37:00 PM
The switch from PoW to PoS on the  Ethereum network is a great development which i believe would increase the scalability of Ethereum network. We are likely going to see an increase in the number of transactions, adoption and also reduced the expenses of miners in keeping the network healthy. With these new requirements i guess me and a couple of friends can become a validator on the network if we put our resources together Grin
684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a Tech not "Manna" from the skies! on: October 27, 2019, 06:32:04 PM
Exactly! People need to understand that Bitcoin and cryptoucrrencies & blockchain are a revolution that could or could not evolve in something of very high impact on our world. Similar to the internet, Bitcoin is an opportunity that people can choose to take advantage of. That's the only way in which people will get rid of poverty through Bitcoin in my view. Always remember that nothing is guaranteed on Earth.
At least some folks really get my message in here. there is this tendency of we dumping or accepting cryptocurrencies in the near future and even if it's the latter it's still going to be way expensive for people to buy. In case any poor person decide to invest into bitcoin do you think he/she would have enough resources to hodl for even more than 6 months? That's why investment strategies are always a game of the well-to-do because they have several streams of income in their life.
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a Tech not "Manna" from the skies! on: October 27, 2019, 03:35:25 PM
There is this misconception that has been created about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general which needs to be cleared once and for all. I quote Satoshi's words from his whitepaper "A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution."
Maybe i misinterpreted this but where in this statement is it written/implies that bitcoin is going to get rid of poverty. Let's not get things twisted and funny enough when their false assumptions don't come to pass they tend to consider that the technology failed. Well i guess they failed in interpreting this simple message above.  Grin

First of all, Bitcoin was not invented to alleviate poverty and its a wrong notion even just to assume it! @ OP, would you be kind enough to further clarify your point? I mean maybe you could provide us relevant  links with regards to your topic especially when you mentioned "Manna" which I believe is a Biblical term. I hope you could expound more on this topic at hand. Smiley
Well i don't have much links to buttress this point but if you have been here long enough this view has been shared by some young folks after the bull run of bitcoin in 2017. Luckily enough i just found an old post which also makes such claims. Just check it out https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5046710.msg46679092#msg46679092

What i simply meant by "Manna" is food as some folks think bitcoin is going to provide food unto their table.

687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Inflation With Crypto? How? on: October 27, 2019, 11:40:35 AM
Other than stable or developed centralized cryptocurrencies we can never stop the inflation among cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin etc. That's the setback of decentralization of cryptocurrencies and i don't know why most folks think cryptocurrencies can stop poverty. Lol, not that Satoshi is going to come outta no where to send bitcoin to almost everybody and even that would not be possible because it will be insufficient.
Cryptocurrencies were made to improve transactions and also improve privacy about financial transactions and not to drop manna from the skies! Roll Eyes
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest only in active projects on: October 26, 2019, 07:46:31 PM
Gone were the days when we were investing into a bunch of shit ideas and proposals that had no solid use case. I only put my time and money into blockchain start ups that have something to show for in the real world. A working product is the least category coupled with highly experienced team members are some of the things that i look out for. I think Temtum project is a good one to look out for in the near future.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you waste your time for 5 cents worth of bitcoin? on: October 26, 2019, 03:27:09 PM
Frankly speaking i would not do that but i guess it's all based on what that amount of money means to someone. In poorly developed countries in Africa and Asia it could be a good source of free income. However, care must be taken just in case they try to take some information from you. Most of these platforms can sell your information into bad hands.
690  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s President Xi Urges Accelerated Blockchain Technology Adoption on: October 26, 2019, 11:07:12 AM
It's all a matter of time till we see different coutries all across the globe adopting the blockchain technology and possibly some existing blockchain start ups that have been developed. It's a big fact beyond doubt that this technology can serve a great purpose in our daily lives and saves us huge sums of money whiles reducing corruption too.
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real Reason Why Bitcoin Price Shot Up Today on: October 26, 2019, 08:45:03 AM
Well i still think the announcement from the president of China still has an influence in the sudden surge in bitcoin's price. China is one of the biggest economy in the world right now and i believe so many investors in there would love to invest into bitcoins but the unfavourable regulations in there about cryptocurrencies might have made them hold their balls about this move. This news from their president makes them assume that they might have the green light soon hence everybody is rushing to buy some. This i believe has created this FOMO and increased the price significantly.
692  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin hit a new low since 2018 on: October 25, 2019, 08:06:24 PM
No, the lowest bottom had already been hit mate, i don't know why as soon as bitcoin experiences a sharp fluctuation most people tend to think bitcoin is going to drop all the way down again. if you are asking this just to fill your bags at a much cheaper price then you better think again because i tell you what Bitcoin below $10k is still a good buy.
693  Economy / Economics / Re: The New World Order with Crypto and Blockchain Technology on: October 25, 2019, 04:55:31 PM
If a New World Order takes effect soon, do you think that all of the world's governments will make use of crypto and Blockchain technology to their fullest potential? Imagine if one world digital currency existed, where every single country makes use of it worldwide. Central Banks will act as nodes and miners of that digital currency, which is backed by the Blockchain. The single, unified Blockchain will prove to become highly scalable for the world, especially since it'll be extremely centralized.

By making use of Blockchain technology for everything, global control will be enforced as it's much easier to track every single transaction made worldwide. Those transactions will not only involve money, but also transfer of ownership, certificates of birth, driver's license, and other services within the global Blockchain system. This may sound crazy, but if you look at the current situation where many Banks and governments have become interested in the technology, it shows us that it will be implemented in every area worldwide within the not-so-distant future.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts? Huh
You think these greedy politicians would ever agree to a common centralized cryptocurrency? When the US, UK and other developed countries know the worth of their currency as compared to other nations? i bet they would ever consent to this idea and that's the reason why bitcoin was created to give power back to the people. In a decentralized world where everybody gets to use the type of cryptocurrency that he/she wants and that's what bitcoin is all about.
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your favorite way to receive money as a gift? Cash or digital.. on: October 25, 2019, 02:40:51 PM
I prefer to receive money through digital means as i mostly work with blockchain start ups. Initially whiles working online i need to wait for a like a 3 days or a week in order to receive my payments in fiat from my employers but ever since cryptocurrencies got in the space i get my payments instantly. This is has been off great help as i am able to use my income instantly for any purpose.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What kind of Altcoins have a future? on: October 25, 2019, 10:32:37 AM
The altcoins market is crushing because most of their cryptocurrencies have no product supporting the native token. This should really stuck a chord amongst cryptopreneurs about the exact projects we invest our monies into. It's best to invest your funds into projects with working products on the market, a very good token structure, listed on a highly liquid exchange etc. At least considering these factors before investing into any project would get rid of all the scam projects in this industry.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever been stolen or lost your BTC? on: October 25, 2019, 10:26:24 AM
I mean, ok, let's consider this article as a detailed guide for different types of wallets — there's an explanation, principles of working, advantages and disadvantages — but how do you actually know, which wallet will be safe? How did you choose your current wallet?

Where do you keep crypto? Have you ever been stolen?
The best way of knowing if a wallet is safe is to look at the number of users who are currently using it. Definitely you might not get at least a 100% security but the huge number of user bases tells you that particular wallet is better than the others.
Not long ago, i came across Ellipal wallet and i think it's very secured looking at its air-gapped nature which does not allow transactions to be made through any physical or network connection. To me this wallet is the most secure in the industry at the moment. You can check it out here https://www.ellipal.com/
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10 Common Mistakes Beginner Cryptocurrency Traders Do on: October 25, 2019, 07:04:11 AM
Well!! Did you know?

Trading crypto is one of the risky thing as a lot of people starts trading without the knowledge of cryptocurrency market.
As a crypto beginner trading crypto safely is one of the best idea ever.
What's your take on this?
Lmao Grin, these mistakes are so true mate. I remember when i bought my Binance Coin at $5 and hurriedly sold at $10 thinking i had sold at the peak. Only to see Binance Coin hit an all time high over $40. Damn, i was so mad at myself i nearly went in back again at such a high price but a friend advised me not to as that seem very high. I think i sold earlier out of impatience as clearly stated in the reference article. This post would serve a great purpose if shared in the Beginner's section as well. I would open a thread about it when i have the time Smiley
698  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Plunging to $6K before Big Recovery on: October 25, 2019, 06:56:13 AM
All these are predictions from people and i don't invest into bitcoin based on the comments and speeches of these so called crypto enthusiasts. I have seen bitcoin rise and fall for several times, i have read about this technology and know that it has a great future hence any buy order that i can afford is good to go with me because i know that after 2020 bitcoin halving i am definitely going to reap off some huge profits.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Protect Yourself And You Protect Your Assets on: October 24, 2019, 08:33:26 PM
It's also very important that you protect yourself from exposing your portfolio you don't go around telling friends and random people, coins that you are keeping.
And also It's important to have other businesses or jobs and not rely on all your needs to Cryptocurrency, people will notice this and they will think you are making a fortune from Cryptocurrency and they might target you.
I agree with you on this because by making known to others the worth of your portfolio you can be hacked by some bad friends who might be close to you. I remember some funds of mine got stolen sometime ago and i had this feeling someone close to me had access to my pc and made away with my funds.
In addition, it's also good to get a day job alongside crypto activities as this industry is still young and who knows can crush in sometime to come. The volatile crypto market also makes cashing out of crypto industry also hurts especially when the market dips like what is happening currently.
700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Going on with Binance and their Questionable Token Burn? on: October 24, 2019, 08:21:28 PM
I am not surprised, the people handling Binance have never shown any level of intelligence and that explains why they keep messing everything up for everyone.
I beg your pardon mate, how many project that run an ICO in this space have come out successful and strong as Binance has ever done. Definitely this burn does not correlate to their whitepaper but don't vent it out on the intelligence of the team because they are among the best if you ask me. Do you know the number of investors during the ICO who are damn rich by now. Get your facts right before making such general arguments.
