681  Economy / Economics / Re: War and property mortgage you still need to pay If war destroy your Property on: November 06, 2023, 11:10:26 PM
This is why diversification is the key on your investments and properties. I personally wouldn't invest on properties that are located near conflicted territories because the value of the properties will obviously depreciate, plus there is a huge possibility that the property will be destroyed or damaged when conflict arises. Better invest on properties that are far from these hotspots, and don't build something on it, just buy it as a parcel of land and wait for its value to appreciate.
682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Out of curiosity, how much you wagered recently? on: November 06, 2023, 10:18:55 PM
I only wagered like $230 for two months. Never played that much in a casino recently, as I've focused more on sports betting and watching some games rather than play blindly and not get something from what I spent time and money from. Trainwrecks is paid by gambling platforms and other brands to bet on casinos and stream it on a live streaming platform to attract people to gamble, so he's literally not spending his own money on most of these instances as that's already covered for him. You cannot compete with these streamers, they have their funds secured and are still getting something even though they blow their own bags in one go.
683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: at which point of a boxing match you consider cashingout? on: November 06, 2023, 07:47:41 PM
I'd personally consider cashing out after that lucky hit and just watch the fight pan out on its own eventually. I know that in most cases in boxing, if one is already down for the count, there's a huge possibility that they cannot continue the fight, or if they can, they're already at a slight disadvantage against their opponent and will just lead to an eventual lost. Not to mention that it also adds to the points of the one who scored the knockdown. But personally, I want to be safe on the bet, and I'll just get the bread and watch the rest of the fight out of curiosity.
684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Believe That Reading People's Bad Experience Will Help You on: November 06, 2023, 07:14:58 PM
I don't think it will help me in any way. If it's about bad experience from a platform, then I think it will help me. But personal experiences, grievances, and frustrations? That doesn't really add anything to my gambling experiences. Will it deter me from gambling knowing that other people have worse fates than me? I don't think so. Most of these people who have lost a lot of money in gambling didn't know the word 'control,' and will not stop from gambling until after their last penny has been spent trying to take back what they lost in gambling.

Everything in moderation is okay. People who don't take things in such tempo are those who are bound to get defeated by something that they thoroughly enjoy.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 06, 2023, 06:53:53 AM
This is just another case of gamblers believing anything just to keep their delusions of winning up. I don't mind people copying bets from other people. But if it gets to a point wherein you copy everything from that person who always wins, especially if it's nonsensical, then we have a problem.

Imagine the guy who you're trying to mimic wears a certain color of shirt every time he gambles, would you replicate it? Do you think that habit of his helps him win? I think not. Maybe he's just really lucky for a while, but eventually if he continues gambling despite the wins, he'll end up on a bad beat, and the casino will win against him, as they should even against everyone given enough time.
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: November 02, 2023, 11:59:55 PM
Miposhka said that he would take a break, but what kind of break it would be is not clear,

Considering that he is already a 2 times TI champion, Team Spirit won TI 2021 which has the highest prizepool so far and not to mention the Riyadh Master which also has the highest non official tournament prizepool, he totally deserves that break

He could basically chill like Topson and Ana did and just come back whenever he's feeling the itch of playing again in competitive Dota. He deserves that break, though hopefully he continues with his Dota career as he already has one hell of a team that knows how to play the game and knows how to complement each other perfectly. One of the best supports in the scene currently!
687  Economy / Economics / Re: Honda Now Accepts Bitcoin and Ethereum As Payment Methods on: November 02, 2023, 11:48:46 PM
It is a good thing that buying things with crypto currency is normalizing the crypto market and making it more connected to the daily lives of people. People are willing to buy the car by using Bitcoin payment, which is a different story. I heard that the car is a liability, so why should I buy it with my source of income? However, Honda debunked these claims, stating that they do not accept crypto currency as a form of payment, but FCF Pay is the intermediary that facilitates the use of crypto currencies to buy cars. It's not just Honda; you can buy various brands like Mercedes and Ford using crypto on FCF Pay. The platform converts your digital cash into real cash, making transactions smooth. But FCF Pay doesn't partner with these companies; they just facilitate your crypto payment.

I actually am very skeptical of this when I first saw this, though this thread has now resurfaced thanks to your comment. If ever Honda did this particular move, this would have been in the news by now. However that is not the case. FCF Pay is sort of like the Bitpay of automobiles, so Honda itself does not facilitate these transactions, but they do. They buy the cars upon order, you pay them in bitcoin, and they keep the profit/loss. Pretty sure the margins aren't that friendly to the buyer at all, and with the rate that the market is going, it's rash to do a huge purchase with bitcoins. Better pay in fiat and get discounts directly from the dealership than to have all the process go through an intermediary that is FCF Pay.
688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whales moved $230 Million to New Address on: November 02, 2023, 11:22:52 PM
In the past there were many mislabeled wallets as F2Pool. That pool has been around for a very long time and all these analysis companies make mistakes when they label them.

Most likely it’s an old hodler and he is moving to a new wallet which has better security. As long as they are not sent to an exchange, then I wouldn’t worry. The real worry will be when the MtGox coins move or when those seized coins start to move.

That is a lot of bitcoins, though I doubt they will be sending it to auction any time soon. Most of these bitcoin movements from old, dormant addresses aren't a concern these days especially if there's a good market movement that is happening on the background. You're right, the guy is probably just moving his stuff from one place to another in order to secure it even further. There's still a lot of uptrend potential given the market conditions right now that it's a waste to sell that much coins in today's exchange rate, unless that person is looking to get a mansion somewhere or take the hit and live comfortable for the rest of their lives.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how secure are your telling fellow wo/man about this forum and bitcoin on: November 02, 2023, 10:35:21 PM
This shouldn't involve anyone but you and your own discretion. Normally, people here will tell you to share with your friend the word about bitcoin and this forum. However, if you're not feeling safe or okay with this, why would you want to pressure yourself, then? If I were in your situation, I'd deflect the insistence with some vague words like "I'm working as a freelancer for a client overseas" or something along those lines. What you do for a living and how much you make should not be anyone's business, even if it's a friend. Money burns bridges, and I assure you, if you do not share what you really do with that person, you'll be a goner to her especially since you offered her to show what it is and you're going to back out the last second.

IMO, better keep it to yourself if you're engaged in bitcoin, be it trading or just simple forum posting.
690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stop the self entitlement claims on others gamblers winnings. on: November 02, 2023, 10:07:57 PM
I am not an expert, but I would are to say giving 100% of ones winnings to charity is rare besides, people on Twitter who are criticizing his fortunate gambler do not keep in their minds that this is a person who gambled 100N, and it is not like other big whales who only gamble for fun because they already are millionaires and stuff like that.

The OP didn’t broaden what actually transpired well, according to what I read on X was that the person he gifted the 100k after winning was actually the person that helped in predicting the game for him or maybe one of those punters that show up they Game and the eventual winner actually went ahead and played that particular game and he won, and his heart of generosity (because I see it as such) he gifted the other punter that amount which causes the fuss by others who thought he should have given more.

For me I don’t see it that way, he didn’t had an agreement to drop a certain amount of money should he win but rather he went ahead to gamble his own money, had he lost would the other punter have compensated him?, this to me is similar to someone discussing a business with you and how it will yield profit and you went ahead to invest in that business with either your money or loan business, I don’t think this person will point hands at you if you gift him anything later because it was never his entitlement.

Also, if the punter gave him that pick, or sure, he himself also got that pick and won something. This is what people are missing: these guys don't give out picks and not pick it themselves. Also, if the punter himself did not ask for anything in return and still got something out of that lucky pick, why would other people be mad on his behalf? I sometimes don't understand the entitlement people has in today's day and age. That money the winner used to bet came from his funds and not the punter's, and so even with the pick, if there's no money to risk, there's never a money to be made.

Or even if the punter did ask for something, why would he if he knows that pick will win? Why did he not bet on it and reap the rewards himself? Roll Eyes
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerians spend $975m daily on online betting on: November 02, 2023, 08:54:48 PM
That's totally alarming considering the total population of Nigeria 225,600,039 as of November 2, 2023 coming from the source below.

https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/nigeria-population/

So let's do the match, that's 65m/223m = that's 28% of population are into gambling. Well, I tell you, this pecentage is too high considering some of the 225m population are minors or kids, or women, which the rate of gamblers is really high. And here's another interesting numbeer from OP>

Quote
spending an average of $15 daily

And as per data below, it's minimum wage is.

Quote
39.289 USD/Month
https://take-profit.org/en/statistics/minimum-wages/nigeria/

So they are gambling more than what they earn? That's unbelievable.

That's not the case, really. They just divided the $975m into the 65 million people, resulting into $15 per day. Based on the data that you have provided, there's no way that that many people will risk half of their monthly earnings PER DAY in hopes of getting something in return. There will be some people spending more than $15, and there will be some that will be spending way less than that. Take the total number, and divide it to the number of people and you get the average spent per day, but I'll tell you that this isn't an accurate way of presenting that data they gathered.

Even though that's the case, 28% of people actively engaging in gambling on a daily basis is really alarming. I guess with the economic conditions in Nigeria, a lot of people will rely on luck rather than look for jobs and improve their skills to get paid more.
When you divide $975m by the 65 million of Nigerians who gamble daily, you'll get $15 per person and if critically analysed, you'll know that the statistics is absolutely correct.

Nigeria is a country that's made up of over 200 million people and the 65 million people who daily engage in gambling are below half of the total population in the country and if carefully examined, over 60% of the gamblers earns more than $1000 monthly. And that's I think it's absolutely possible for them to spend such amount on gambling daily. Because of the very harsh economic situation in the country, a lot of people engages in gambling in search of shortcuts earn a living but sadly for most of them, they end up losing more than they win from gambling

This does not mean that every person from that 65 million spend that much. That's what I'm getting at. If the minimum wage in the country is set at $39, they could not spend $15 daily in gambling alone. There's more to it than adding the total dollar value and dividing it among the 65 million people. There are key things missing like demographics and income range in order to paint a better picture. If the average Nigerian, out of that 65 millions, could spend $15 a day in gambling, this must mean that they are earning more and are doing well, but that's not the case.

It completely portrays a different image, and that's not statistics done right. It just states that 'they' as a collective, spends X per day on average, but that doesn't mean that every individual actually spends that much. The distribution assumes that each one of that 65 million is spending the same amount. They have a figure of 60% of that 65 million earns $1,000 a month, but they stopped there and didn't really checked for the spending habits and the variations on each individual's tendency to spend money in gambling.

693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you use multiple platforms for betting? on: November 02, 2023, 11:07:11 AM
I use multiple bookmakers, but I do not use or fund them simultaneously. If I feel like I want to bet using fiat, I will use a local platform. If I only have crypto to spare, I will use a crypto bookie. There's not much science behind it but it's actually teaching you how to manage your funds properly and not be careless with your funds and bet on every platform at once. You also have the bonuses and multiple promotions that you can take advantage of, and not every time do you get them all at once, so it's better to have accounts on multiple platforms rather than just staying on one. Besides, I'm not one to pursue on tiered bonuses so this works for me.

One thing to note is that never leave any funds on all these platforms. Withdraw them after your session in order to remove the risks of your funds being lost due to hacks or some other unforeseen circumstances.
694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: November 01, 2023, 11:58:01 PM
The risks outweigh these benefits, IMO. Things that alter your mood are things that are dangerous to be addicted in if left unchecked. I'd rather not be exposed too much to things that elevates my mood, especially if these can lead to addiction without moderation. These aren't benefits IMO, but things that give short-term 'relief' to the end-user. That's not beneficial now, isn't it?
695  Economy / Economics / Re: Steam drops support for 2 fiat currencies over their volatlity on: November 01, 2023, 11:50:57 PM
I just looked over my emails and checked my 0.14 and 0.23 btc purchases for Steam wallet. It pains me to see those purchases, but honestly it's best for them as a business to drop bitcoin support via BitPay. It was kind of convenient to me back then, though looking at the prices now, I kinda regret spending my bitcoins for something that I don't even touch now.

They as a business need to thrive. Dropping support to those local currencies may lose them a certain market, but overall they still have a strong user base that can offset what was lost with their decision. Besides, gamers using those currencies can easily find a way to buy Steam credits if they really want to, anyway.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another ETF's Ticker got Listed on DTCC on: November 01, 2023, 11:27:41 PM
Tbh I'm not entirely sure what Invesco Galaxy or Alerian for that matter. They might have filed for an ETF, but to me it still doesn't mean anything unless it's accepted and confirmed by the SEC. The thing is, people have picked up this update and the price suddenly went bullish. We are yet to see one ETF being accepted in the open by the SEC, so at of this point there's nothing but empty promises for this to come into fruition.
697  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Using a Credit Card Demonstrate Financial Literacy? on: November 01, 2023, 08:40:25 PM
Owning a credit card is tempting you to buy those things even you cant afford it in cash. I know there is nothing wrong with it but you will tend to buy useless things. I am living in a country where if you have a credit card you are in the middle class to the rich and most of what I've heard is that they have a credit card for credit score because of discounts and take out big loans but for me it is still better paying in cash mostly if I want to buy stuff and not tempted to buy it using a credit card.

Fixing your credit score to take out big loans is actually a hint of one being financially sound. You are aiming for that loan because you might use it to something beneficial e.g. starting a business, buying a home, etc. The mere fact that you are responsible enough to be on track with your debts, plus having a clear financial goal means you understand what you're doing. Even the lower middle class people can do this, provided that they are really tight on their budget and are strictly following the needs > wants ideology.

It takes strict compliance and obedience to one's plan to be financially literate. It's just discipline with a direction at the end of the day.
698  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔮DestinyX.com | Where Fun Meets Betting, Gaming, and Crypto! on: November 01, 2023, 05:01:49 PM
Seems like DestinyX.com has placed a global restriction. Like the other forum members, the system is giving me an error message when I'm trying to create an account. My country isn't in the restricted countries list on DestinyX. Perhaps, there is something wrong with your Geo-blocking system.
-snip-
It is likely a bug within their system which does not allow the whitelisted countries to access their services, there could be also a small possibly you are trying to access using a browser which offers VPN for free, like Opera or Brave. Check that out and let us know whether it helps at all.
-snip-

I'm on a VPN and tried one of the countries that are not restricted by default, but I still got that message upon loading. They should create a whitelisting on these countries that are not included on the restricted list. This might confuse a lot of interested people and cause them to turn back because they think they cannot play in the platform.

It's like they're trying to push people to use their recommended VPNs to remove the restrictions. I'm not quite sure about that but it gave me that impression tbh. The site looks nice, but it's only just that restriction that doesn't make sense.
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: November 01, 2023, 11:06:47 AM
Meanwhile, the biggest DOTA 2 news now are the numerous rumors of roster shuffling of many teams.

Gaimin Gladiators- I really like the current GG roster but Quinn leaving may end up with a lot of changes.

With Quinn leaving, a lot of the dynamics of GG will be lost. Their run last season is so good for a div 1 team, although ultimately failing to secure the TI championship. We'll see whether Quinn will go, but knowing how badly he wants that TI, if he can't do it with this team, he'll probably look for more options.

Tundra- Caster, Maelstorm made a hint that 3 players from GG will be joining the team.

GG might end up disbanding then, or they will get div 2-3 players in WEU to fill in the gaps. If Quinn is included in that 3 players, Tundra will become stacked. I see Saksa resting up for a bit, so that leaves 2 other possible players to be 'removed' in the team or leave in their own accord.

Liquid- One of the biggest news is Zai's decision to take a break which might also mean that there is a chance of not retiring and will come back later.

Hopefully it does not lead to retirement later on in the season. The dude is streaming quite regularly so there might be a chance that he'll only settle in being a streamer during his down time, meaning he's still following the game closely.

Shopify Rebellion- After another very poor season I won't be surprised if the players will finally disband.

I have said this for YEARS: as long as Bulba is in command of this team, they will NOT get any success that they deserve. Mechanically gifted players held back by a coach that has the knowledge of the 2016 Dota scene and hasn't evolved since then.

Team Secret- I wonder what's on Puppey's mind now. Maybe try to check the players available in the market. But will he let go on Crystallis?

He worked with Crystallis before, and it's possible that he'll get him again.

Beastcost- All players left the team. There are also rumors about transferring to SEA.

Idk how will they fare here in the SEA region. The question is what team will take them in?
700  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Using a Credit Card Demonstrate Financial Literacy? on: October 31, 2023, 11:58:25 PM
I don't think that that's not the case. Credit cards offer convenience to a lot of people, and provide better flexibility especially in buying online. Using cash exclusively also does not mean one is financially literate. It may just meant that they don't have access to credit cards, too. Financial literacy is knowing how and when to spend money. Using whichever financial instrument does not make you more financially literate - it all boils down to your financial decisions e.g. buying wants vs needs, etc.
