681  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Keep learning newbies, The forum has a lot to offer on: October 09, 2023, 05:52:30 PM
That's very well said. As with almost everything in life, learning is usually the first step before you can even put what you learn into practice (after building a solid KnowledgeBase that is).

Well said.  As a newbie,  the first goal is to learn. Learn, learn and learn.  Many newbies make the mistake of joining the forum with the sole aim of getting paid. With this mindset, they neglect many things they are supposed to be learning. "Learn first before you can apply what you have learnt into practice "

No one is stopping anyone from navigating through the forum to read posts and threads. Almost everything you  need to know about cryptocurrency and the forum is here. Make learning your first priority and see things going well for you

Op, na the sad reality be this for our country, everybody for this our country dey manage make dem see money buy food chop. But all this kind work wey dey take person time, energy and resources like this no good. This kind jobs dey drain person.  If person continue with that kind job for very long Time, e dey render person miserable.  Na why e good say make person eyes and ears dey open to opportunities. Once you see better offer, japa immediately.  Your mental health dey very important.  If you dey fortunate to get skills or savings wey fit help you set up something, abeg be your own boss.
Many employees go use you and still make you feel like dem dey do you favour. Many sef dey receive salary wey dey below official minimum wage. For Naija now, POS business better pass plenty white collar jobs. 6am-4pm jobs na no no for me.
683  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Common mistakes by unskilled traders on: October 08, 2023, 05:08:27 PM
The basic mistake they make is that, they think trading is similar to investing. They need to understand that investing and trading are completely different concepts. In trading you have to remain active in the market whereas in investing you just buy the asset and hold. Many newbies also think that trading can make them rich overnight. But that’s not the reality. They come in this trading field in greed for profits and later when the profits are not achieved they just exits. So yes OP has made some great points which are often seen in the newbies.

You are actually right.  Many newbies have this notion that cryptocurrency trading is the new "oil well " hence the need to invest and get sudden financial boom.  Yea, this is because of the too-good-to-be-true testimonies they have heard or seen and when they meet the opposite of their expectations,  they quit.

This "investment" notion they joined cryptocurrency trading with made them not to do adequate research to know which cryptocurrency exactly they should trade or invest in. Imagine investing in a coin you know nothing about it's market volatility,  liquidity and security. You do not pay attention to happenings around the globe that might possibly affect the price of cryptocurrencies.Trading is a risk on its own but not doing proper research is an additional or unnecessary risk.

Trading requires patience,  discipline and consistency. If you are a long term trader, stick to it. If you are a day trader, be consistent.  Importantly,  know when to take Profit or stop loss. Trading is not just an investment,  there is more to it.
684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 07, 2023, 01:14:12 PM
In few hours time, Manchester United will be playing against Brentford. And we all know that Brentford is not a team that should be underrated and they are sometimes unpredictable. Brentford can play with small teams and lose the match. That same Brentford will play with big teams like Manchester City and Liverpool (I don't know where Chelsea belongs to now) and defeat them.

Manchester United is seriously having issues with their form. They have been struggling to win matches in the Champions League and even in the Premier League. I am not optimistic that Manchester United will perform positive wonders. Rather,  they might likely lose again to Brentford.

Manchester United need to go back to their root and sort out the cause of their obvious losses because it is quite unfortunate for a once glorified team like Manchester United to struggle in almost all their matches.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 07, 2023, 12:37:47 PM
Another week for Tottenham Hotspur to play out another game against Luton who are some how still getting use to the EPL and is going to be another free win for the visitors (Tottenham) that's to their fans and some online stakers but I don't see Tottenham Hotspur winning this game.
Luton might be poor in their performance but I think they're going to take this game like is their last game in the EPL and they don't mind spoiling that unbeaten strict for Spurs today but I can just tip today's encounter between the newly promoted side against Spurs as a draw.
The Luton vs Tottenham match has now entered the 35th minute and the score is still 0-0. Even though Tottenham continued to dominate the match very well. But Luton can still defend their back line without gaps. But my prediction for this match is 0-2 for Tottenham to win.

As the host Luton didn't seem to play like a host. Their self-confidence seems to still not be very good even in front of their own supporters. But if this match ends in a draw then I will really appreciate Luton Town. But I think it will be very difficult. Because currently Luton players are still making a lot of mistakes. Which made the Tottenham players put even more pressure on Luton's defense. It's just that Tottenham are sometimes a little careless. I think if Luton can see some of the gaps that Tottenham have who are too focused on attacking. So Luton could make a counterattack that would endanger Tottenham.
Surprisingly, the first half has just ended and Tottenham Hotspur was unable to defeat the weak Luton town, despite claiming the large portion of possession. It is quite ridiculous that Tottenham possed the ball above 80% but could not get a single goal in the first half despite playing with some world class strikers like Son and Richardlison. This however does no expose the weakest of Tottenham, rather it expresses the strength of Luton Town defense.

Let us see what the second half has for us. I am no longer confident that Tottenham can win this match. If they are unable to s score in the first half that they had complete players, is it the second half that they will be playing one man down that they will score? This match might likely end by both teams sharing the points.

You feel say our government dey partly to blame or nah just lack of common sense dey worry us so??

687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a mentor in my bitcoin journey. on: October 06, 2023, 06:04:14 PM
I have made a bold decision to start my bitcoin journey. But just like every a new born baby needs close care and attention to grow I really don't want to make a mistake in any thing I am doing. I have this question to ask.
''Is it advisable to to have a mentor who I can always go to as a newbie in the crypto space or I should rely all my knowledge on things I read online for my growth.

It’s your own investor. You should be responsible on all the decision making because mentor will just confuse you when he give an advice that doesn’t fit to your preference.

It’s better to read previous discussion here and learned from the reputable users advice instead of just asking someone about something you want to know because no one here will be interested to dedicate their time on answering your questions. Bitcointalk has a rich source of info which answer almost all your questions. Just use the search function of the forum.

There is nothing wrong in having a mentor. It is only wrong when you over-rely on the mentor's advice or judgements.  The essence of getting a mentor is to learn from the person or those who have great experience in that particular field you are pursuing.  Why learning from them, you do your homework.  Do your research, read threads and posts, ask questions where you are not clarified. Dedicate your time to learning from all sources.  When you do your personal researches, you will know when your mentor is digressing.  Remember no one knows it all and you alone is accountable for all your investment decisions.
688  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why E Go Be Prayer? on: October 06, 2023, 05:32:21 PM
Some of the prayer points wey we dey pray for this our country sef, if things dey as e suppose be, we no go pray those kind prayers atol.
We go pray for safe journey because of bad road
Pray to gain admission because of the poor academic system
Pray to graduate in one piece
Pray to see work do
Pray make NEPA bring light
Pray make nothing carry us go hospital because of the the poor health care wey ordinary person no fit afford private hospital
Pray for kidnappers, bandits, unknown gunmen and other yeye people.
Pray for this one, pray for that one.
Now, the person wey the general affairs of the country dey e hand say make we pray for the country in general. Hope still dey like this? I no talk say prayer no good but that talk wey president talk no be solution.

Oyibo people wey bring this their religion come give us no dey pray as we dey pray sef. The country and our leaders no balance na why we dey cast and bind everytime. Na why dem dey talk say "once person japa from Nigeria, e prayer life go reduce". This na because almost everything wey we dey pray for,  dey set for obodo oyibo.
689  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you manage your finances and family if your income is low range? on: October 06, 2023, 05:37:33 AM
I hear people say do not start up a family if your income is low but this is not applicable in all cases. A low income earner should as a matter of necessity order his wants according to their order of priority. Why spend things you do not need? Scale of preference is the solution here.
A family who earns a very low income should not be in a competition with the next family. Go for good products and services but at affordable prices.  All expenses should be within the family's budget and not to impress anyone.
And while managing the family's scarce resources,  an alternative source of income should also be looked into.
Basically, we have to live a lifestyle that is in accordance with our income and of course we can enjoy it, sometimes what makes things difficult for us is a lifestyle that is not in accordance with our income. However, we can change the economic situation, as long as we can manage our income and expenses well. When income rises, expenses should not follow so that there will be a lot of remaining income that can be allocated to invest so that we can improve our lives in the future.
Yea, many will overlook this. They believe in "the higher the income,  the higher my expenses". Most times we make things difficult for ourselves. Once income rises, they go for expensive houses, cars, schools and many other expensive stuffs thereby giving little room for little or no investment. All this will only increase the suffering and hardship the more.
I am not saying we should still struggle financially even when we have more income,  live comfortably but spend wisely and save for the future, invest for the future.  Just make plans for the future so you don't need to run your family with low income for ages.
690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 05, 2023, 07:17:34 PM
Congratulations to Newcastle United.  I never expected that Newcastle United will perform this wonders in the Champions league. I can confidently say that Newcastle is the wonders of this season's Champions League because they have not been in the Champions League for the past twenty years. Now they managed to enter, they were somehow unlucky to join the hardest group to be qualified from. And I predicted that Newcastle will not win even one match from the matches they will play, which means they will not qualify from the group but I am surprised that they drew one match. Just last night,  they were able to trash PSG and I am happy with Newcastle United. We should not be surprised as Newcastle United will qualify from the group match and they will take everybody by surprise by going very far in the Champions League competition.
Once again,  congratulations Newcastle United !
691  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Battle of why we dey earn but no progress on: October 05, 2023, 04:10:01 PM
I don dey, wonders how many of us dey realize attractive amounts of money(payment) either on daily, week or monthly basis but yet enough to establish our lives (dreams).
E com be like say we no dey hustle or do our best to reach the hills yet.

I com ask myself say... Oyibo people dey hustle pass us? Abi na our money way no get value dey cuz us the unforward ness?
Cuz I observe most of these oyibo(s) say them dey archive great thing's and living a comfortable life with lesser stresses unlike us for 9ja.
Then I observe say no be really by how much got paid or hard harder working but the caused of responsibility costs.

With the facts of observations and my research, once u start dey hustle as an oyibo, u hustle on ur own and u owe no one responsibilities of bills bcuz every 1 dey ok &  contented with themselves without living to hope say anyone go take charge of their bills for them where family and relatives takes their financial responsibilities upon themselves.
I am sure this situation alone go allow person plan himself as him want.

Com to Africa, our 9ja in question, we dey papa house marry, bear kids and grand Pa takes all responsibilities.
How him want take establish or make increments in his income?

Pikin or person go dey in position of earning attractive amount of money, na so u go see responsibilities spreaded from the East, West, North and the South for u.
No just space for savings in order to establish and reach to a dream.
By this, I find out say responsibilities dey play a major role in our societies when we considers about forward ness.

Imagine this>>>
Papa/mama in need, brothers/sisters in need, uncle's/aunty's in need, cousins in need, nephews/nieces in need,  relationship in need, friends in need other relatives and unknown are in need.
With this situation, how him want take plan himself?
The possibilities of the way forward to progression here would be extremely challenging unless you have to Play an ignorant across but is getting ignored a solution?
Of course not but calling upon them when you learns about any means to empowerment, do get them empowered for stress eases else it lingers as long na 9ja we dey but otherwise u owe no  one nothing.

We can also minimize responsibilities by :
*Having a child's plan before putting to birth such as your readiness to have a child (s) and number of childs better fits for you to take care of.
*Elimination of unnecessary friends and relationships
*Delegate action(s) to others
*Avoidance of of unredeemable promises and
*Conciousness of liabilities
*Ability to withstand pleasures.

This one na obvious truth. The extended family system wey we dey practice for Nigeria dey make money no dey for person hand. So many responsibilities from both immediate family members and distant relatives.  Once you no meet up, they tag you 'stingy uncle'.

E no good make person dey in competition with anybody. We do things to impress people. Spend money on things wey we no need. Throw loud party with plenty people to feed and entertain. Oyibo people no do any magic, they spend wisely and na why dem no dey stress themselves. And na this wise spending dey make dem get savings to use do investments.

For this our country,  we no get better savings culture. We dey operate around wetin oyibo call " vicious cycle of poverty ". Everyday expenses,  little or no savings and little or no investments. How we wan take progress with this kind of lifestyle?
692  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Government Really Value Our NYSC? on: October 05, 2023, 02:44:46 PM
For where? Government no value corpers at all. The reason dem bring this nysc program na to settle peace after Biafra war wey be happen that time. Up till now, the scheme still dey and Government sef no dey take corpers serious again. See now, this kidnapping case wey dey rampant this year, how many cases Government pay attention to?
If dem know say their hand no too reach again, make dem kuku scrap NYSC make everybody rest. After all, the allowee wey dem dey pay no dey reach person do anything because of high price of things for the country.

If dem no go scrap am, make dem stop to dey post people go far far places. The number of corpers wey die this year through road accident and those dem kidnapp because of night movement e too much. Corps members now na target for kidnappers and bandits and our government no dey no anything.  Make dem allow corpers to serve for where dey close to their home make life no too hard for them. This matter serious .
693  Economy / Economics / Re: Marriage mean double your passive income, rental property mean double your passi on: October 05, 2023, 01:50:49 PM

So back to topic, is marriage, notably marry rich a sound advice today? Why having multple sugar daddy seem more appealing to me, one sugar daddy one passive income, two sugar daddy two passive income, 100 sugar daddy 100 passive income, simple maths! Btw I don't want to add crypto into the mix. I don't want to make consideration because it hardly existed more than ten years while marriage and rental has existed for thousands of years.

I want to digress a bit and talk about what marriage is about and my understanding of it before I will have of discussion centering on passive income and sugar daddy of thing.
Choosing a life partner goes beyond physical looks. Both parties must consider their compatibility level and of course their tolerance level. It will be too bad to end up with a partner you cannot tolerate their excesses or the partner cannot tolerate yours.

My partner should have some traits that will be able to sustain the union. Everyman definitely needs a woman that can stand in for him during meetings and other functions when he is unavoidably unavailable  and not some queens who have only beauty and curves to offer.

A man does not need to double his passive income as you said in OP because of marriage, rather you can make your friend to start getting a passive income to help the family.
694  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: October 04, 2023, 09:12:39 PM
This time I think they got it right removing the government leaders of their country especially the countries in Saheel. Governments in those regions like that of Niger are backed by France. These countries are still colonized by France and they are now removing France's military from their countries.
France embassy took terrible embarrassment when the junta cut their electricity and water supply eventually kicking them out. And they are also planning to kick out the US military too. Somehow the governments of those countries find Russia and China to be their new partners.

If a country's government was corrupt, cared only about its own profit and spit on the people of the country - I agree, such a government should be stripped of power.
Another question is what does the new government offer to the people?
No offense, but I have not yet seen a single coup in African countries, where as a result of such a change of power the situation would have changed really for the better, for the country, for the population, and not for the "new government".
Perhaps I have not studied history in depth, I would be grateful if you could provide other information.

Coups in Africa are usually for selfish reasons.  No Successful coup has benefited the common man. There is no guarantee right now that the new government will do better. The citizens are already enduring the harsh economy of the the state. Restricting some of their fundamental rights (which is very common in a military regime) is another burden altogether. No one is certain about what the new day brings as the military head of state can issue a decree any moment to counter what the previous government had on ground.

Businesses cannot strive in such an environment.  Foreign investors and tourists will not find the country attractive for business or recreation. The whole political and economic environment is tensed up. No coup has worked in favour of Africa
695  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics everyone's business? on: October 04, 2023, 08:09:40 PM
Let me use West Africa as an example. Eighty percent of elections conducted in Africa are not free and fair. Politicians always find a way of manipulating the outcome of the elections, which leads to citizens losing confidence in our electoral process. This is a key factor in why some people ignore politics.
Regardless of whether the public wants them or not, our leaders have taken politics and elections seriously. As you said, particularly in west Africa. Is unfair, and once they appear on the scene, people act as if they don't give a damn whether something needed to be changed. People sometimes use money in as well as manipulating the system, and you can often find them willing to sell their votes even without doing so. Even though people are losing interest, we must persevere till things improve. If you compare today's voting turnout to earlier days, it has significantly decreased.

Regardless of all this, political apathy still won't solve anything. People still need to be on ground to change a bad government if it isn't favoring the people who elected them. We all need  to act as underground watch dogs to criticize a representative who isn't doing well This is politics and it is everyone's business because if things go bad,  no one is safe.

Just like what happened during the last election in my country.  Many people have lost faith in the political system.  Only few people turned out to vote. Yet, those same people who didn't show effort in changing the bad government are still the ones complaining.

If majority of the people stay away from politics,  the political leaders will have little or no sense of accountability to his people.
696  Other / Politics & Society / Re: corrupt practices of African democratic leaders. on: October 04, 2023, 07:10:37 PM
Africa is blessed with natural resources. But are under the mis-management by there corrupt leaders who claims to be democratic. but their for personal benefits. let's look at president Ali Bongo and family, which was said to have been in power for over 53years. but was taken over by military, as a case study.
should Africans agree for military takeover of all the Africa nations for proper restoration of African glory. or they should remean in corrupt democratic government .
what are your say on this......

Military take over is not an option either. In a country a which is 'working', the common man should have a say. Military take over will only breed more tyrants, dictators and worse still cause mass political apathy. International trade and borrowing will be affected too. Which country will want to lend funds to a politically and economically unstable country?

It is quite unfortunate that we Africans are richly blessed with natural resources yet are suffering in the midst of plenty due to negligence and selfish interests from our political leaders.  At this point, what we need is mass participation in politics. Public opinion should be taken seriously and the military cannot give us this.
Let us continue to lend our voices for the growth of our country, one day, we shall get what we seek.
697  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always ask questions, it doesn't make you a fool. on: October 04, 2023, 12:24:16 PM
As newbies, we are eager to know it all so we can bevmasters in no distant time. At this point, asking questions becomes an option if we must succeed.

No one knows it all whether newbie or not. We learn everyday. To succeed in life, we must stoop to conquer. Make enquiries when you are not certain about a particular thing. Ask questions to be clarified on issues you find confusing
We need not rely on asking questions only to learn. We do researches on our own too.  Navigate through the forum and read previous posts from members. By doing this, you would have answered your questions and even gain more knowledge.  It will even save you the stress of being criticized ( this should not be a reason for not asking questions though). Be a fool to learn. It's the results we are interested in.

699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Impact of Bitcoin on Economic/Society Growth on: October 03, 2023, 08:37:33 PM
On October 2008 a white paper document was created by Satoshi Nakamoto, a digital cash that can be transferred, peer to peer with no third member involve.
As bitcoin continues to grow and everyone gets to adopt and know this knowledge
Impact of bitcoin in our society today are:
  • Bitcoin transaction saves time and stress. It makes transaction fast and safe, most especially international transactions. Bank transaction has failed there customers several times maybe because of network or something else, another example: people collecting money from ATM machine can testify to this, sometimes you will need this money urgently at that particular time but getting to the bank seeing the queue and population not only that the ATM machine will disappoint you, I have been in this situation before where my card got swallowed by the ATM machine. There was a time my country was suffering from money scarcity due to the changing of old naira notes and to get access to your own money was a problem but I can testify people who got bitcoin sold there bitcoin and they lived there normal lives despite the economic situation at that time.
  • Bitcoin has also supported in our technology world today, knowing we live in a digital dispensation so bitcoin has also contributed to the development of technology using our phone to transfer digital cash fast and safe
  • The help of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency has helped a lot in our society today knowing the fact that bitcoin is not a scheme you go in and make money fast. But beening patient and investing properly will make you forget your sorrows in the long run
  • Scam for example scammers are in fiat than bitcoin, some bank workers are also involve in frauding their customers. A lady was living in UK years and was sending money to her Nigerian Bank as savings and from her calculation, she had sent $87206.74 which is equal to #68,000,000 and she came, she saw only #3,000 which is also equivalent to $3 in the account and she sued the bank to court and won the case
You can get the source from here https://www.legit.ng/people/1550378-n68-million-lady-living-italy-saves-n68m-nigerian-bank-account-returns-home-n3k/
Bitcoin has lots of benefits ranging from serving as a means of payment because it is highly divisible to being a store of value. It's even more exciting to know that bitcoin transactions are cost effective and with a very good transaction speed compared to fiat. All this "too good to be true" benefits will be superb if everyone,  both old and young , educated and uneducated and even the government will accept cryptocurrency.  This way, bitcoin will not only be an investment (which is still very good), making payments via the cryptocurrency exchange will be effective.

I had a similar experience.  I had an urgent transaction to do some time ago yet I couldn't do the transaction because the bank had some network problems all day. Then it occurred to me that I can actually make payment from my bitcoin wallet but guess what, the supposed beneficiary won't accept cryptocurrency as a means of payment because he doesn't have a bitcoin wallet and has a little knowledge of how cryptocurrency works.

700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be accepted as a dominant currency in the future? on: October 03, 2023, 07:08:59 PM
Why would governments allow it to happen? Fiat currency and financial system help them control economy. If everyone switched to Bitcoin things would be harder, it would be harder to control international trade, to collect taxes, to monitor money streams and so on. And I'm sure governments have all the power to stop Bitcoin from becoming dominant, but they don't even need to use it now, because Bitcoin is not moving too fast in that direction. So far Bitcoin is only an investment for most people, and investment that the government can tax.

Truly, bitcoin has gained its popularity over the years. Few years back, I never knew bitcoin existed.  Even when I knew about it, I didn't really see the need to pay attention to it. But now, I know about it , thousands of people all over the world now know too and more are still getting aware. One would ask, why hasn't the government accepted it as a means of payment yet? The answer is simple.

How will the government generate revenue from her citizens if everyone is allowed to use bitcoin?. Direct tax rates will be difficult to determine.  Bribery, corruption, extortion and other financial crimes will be on the increase because the government might not trace this transactions if the perpetrators of these crimes are owners of private coins.

We should not also forget that, out of 100% of people who are owners of bitcoin,  a very good percentage of people do not see bitcoin as a means of exchange or currency, rather as a source of income because of the rewards they get from mining bitcoin. For now, the best the can do is to regulate its usage.
