630600 - xx:xx:34 - blank
630601 - xx:xx:10 - seems like we have a winner

And what did they win?

Bobby would it be possible to have a short explanation lasered into the Memo section on the back? About why there is bitcoin pizza day and whatnot.

I second this ^^^
6965  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] BTC poker chip Wallets / Free Raffle (Closed) on: May 16, 2020, 01:00:29 AM
Hey Everyone,

I am getting ready to do the raffle for those who have entered. To make it fair, verifiable, and easy I am going to use the seconds field from the time the block is created starting at block 630600. Essentially if a block falls on XX:XX:14 #14 would be a winner this should provide a random way to give all 20 entrants an equal shot to win. Of course seconds 21-59 will be invalid and the next block will be considered. Once again also no dual winners so those cases will be disregarded as well. Either way I look forward to seeing how this works and sending those out to the winners  Smiley.

PS... please let me know if my logic is flawed here (hehe) wouldn't be the first time

https://blockstream.info/

I dont see an issue with it, as it is not something you personally can control and it beats a random generator  - after all this is bitcoin! so using something related to bitcoin like the block find time is great!

and damn those other chips look sweet!
6966  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 255 blocks solved! on: May 15, 2020, 09:47:54 PM
@Stryfe, I understand your question, it's a legit one, the way you asked it was not perfect IMO, hence the replies you got  Grin, but by all means, the question is pretty legit.

Let me give you a different answer, running a solo pool is not profitable, the proof is even antpool stopped their solo pool last year, who else would we trust ? the only alternative I can think of would be bsod.pw, i had a few (none btc) blocks that were paid, sadly no BTC block was ever found by them, so hard to know if their BTC solo even works, the other options are pretty hard to trust.

Mining solo is risky, the pool can lie to you about anything, it would be hard to prove anything against them, so you need to trust the pool operator, for obvious reasons most of us trust CK, now regardless of how much BTC he owns, why would he run a losing business? no incentives to do that, if I was him, I would shut the pool down, but we suggested that maybe we can donate to keep the pool up and running and he agreed, so we actually pay to get a decent solo pool which is owned by a trusted person who will not steal the block and say oh sorry something went wrong, go figure.

This is more like supply and demand, if we had a better option, nobody would have bothered with the pool going offline, but since this is a great pool which we all love, we decided to keep it alive, so miners are happy and CK is happy, all good.

agreed. and thanks for at least trying to understand the question - so many on here automatically assume everything is an attack - so if it is not worded perfectly or asked the way they like questions asked - which varies by every single person lol - then its auto attack mode. But I never once said it was bad or that no one should do it though people kept asking me why I said those things lol

either way thank you for providing your view.

sigh nevermind - I dont think anyone can understand my question.

I will state it one more time (already have at least half a dozen times) I do not have any issue with people donating to a pool.

I am simply asking why would they? Is there an incentive for them? do they get a lower fee? do they get part of the pool profits?

I am not being hateful or spiteful - but quite a few here are - telling me to shut up, calling me a troll etc etc.

again - was curious if there was some benefit to contributing or what not.

Relax folks and mine on!

also @phil easy brother! Again I have no issues - as for the renting of hash - it matters nothing to the pool does it? rented hash is the same as non-rented hash - the pool gets their cut when a block is found so rented hash is also to the pool operators benefit as much as it is to the benefit of those that rent it (well if a block is found, right?)

Again - let's lose the anger folks! if my questions offend - realize this, they were not intended to - and ease up a bit. Smile too - you will live longer  Smiley

There are no direct benefits ($$/discounts/profits), except for the fact that the pool stays operational and we have a chance to hit a block. Now, with the new server, the pool is better than ever!

CK has stated plenty of times in the past that the servers used were getting old and that he was not even breaking even for the past several years. There is no reason for CK alone to bear the cost/burden when we all use the services. Base on this, and faced with the fact the pool was shutting down, all that could chipped in and donated.

and this is the answer I was looking for! thank you!

Why not open up a new topic, instead of posting this question here?

 Wink

um why not here? this is after all the thread for that pool - makes 100% perfect sense to post the question here. anyways, someone finally took the time to answer the question so I got my answer  Smiley have a great day!

Do you understand meaning of word donation? None of your questions is valid, simply because of "donation" word definition.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Donations are given without return consideration.

If anytime in future -ck comes here with something like "Membership upgrade", well, then these are valid questions, but this is not the case.
BTW ckpool is fully opensource, you can fork it now and start your own pool, if you think you can can fully pay the required resources from 2% of found block.

yes I understand the meaning of the word lol but quite often - more than not - donations usually lead to or result in benefits as well. Besides, I only asked. Never realized it would cause so much hostility.
but I did get an answer so as stated above, thanks! and have a great day!

I was trying to imply that the price will rise after the halfing.

But I'm mining with two R606's.

lol gotcha!

still actively mining there then? and with what? as others have said, I think even 1 th would put you above dust level.

I'm still waiting on $1.19 USD of Dust.  I'll be in some high cotton when I finally get that.  I'll have really think hard on how to spend it.  Smiley

yea that is very low. I have an old account that i got locked out of that also has dust - I told him to hold it and pay it with my next block reward earned on my new account. I said that in December, I had no way of knowing we still would have no blocks 5 months later lol

curious - why would the miners have to pay to have the pool open?

Nobody HAD to.  They decided to pay for updated hardware.  Read back in the thread as the answer is quite clear.

this I get - but why should the pool miners pay for updated hardware vs the pool operator - who should be the one to do so, or am I wrong?

He did, we donated him to do, so what is your problem?

again, when did I say I had a problem? I only asked why would they? In my own reasoning I think they should not - I was asking for reasons why they should. Again, no where do I say I have a problem with it.

For me it is no different than pool owners/operators (or anyone else) asking for donations - except there was never an ask made.  This was grassroots to support a pool and programmer who has done a lot for miners.

There was never an expectation or ask - just a collection of funds from supporters of a pool.

I guess this is what I have never seen - I have never seen a pool that asks for donations - and in this case neither did CK.

Where did it say that we had to pay to the update hardware?  are you just trolling?  im sure everybody here makes their own decisions and dont need someone to speak on our behalf.
-ck was going to shut down all pools.  us here who play lottery only wanted him to keep up solo, because maybe our current gear is not worth pointing to unlucky pools.  we all know our
risks, decide on our own, and send btc to whoever we want.

anyways what are you trying to get at? do you have a pool and want us to join it?  or do you want us to go to a certain pool?  are you trying to watch out for us? keep us safe?

your comments just dont make sense.

why does everyone someone ask a question are they accused of being a troll?

sigh never mind. from the thread, the way I understood it was that if the servers were to be upgraded it would have to be at the expense of someone else other than CK - that was the way I understood it.

I was simply asking why would people pay to do so? I myself could not imagine doing it myself - So I wanted to simply know why others would - if that is too hard to answer (because all anyone has done is attack me for asking lol) then never mind.

from the beginning I said I had no qualms with anyone doing so - I simply did not understand it.

my comments might make sense if they were read as questions and not as attacks Smiley

so Again - kudos to the miners that contributed to keep the pool open. and I wish everyone luck in finding a block - especially myself as I also stated my r606 is on the solo pool.
6973  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Alternatives to Ckpool.org on: May 15, 2020, 06:07:04 PM
also - unless mistaken, some accounts were paid on the last block - If I recall, he paid out some of the accounts already - I would have to find the message in discord though to be sure. Either way, the next block should see all dust paid as well.

Yes! Fees maybe can handle it on this "pool" ,to run the server. But maybe "someone" likes to get his code and maintenance paid, (in $) !

is it because ck does not have the funds? that i doubt - pretty sure he has over 1k btc - if not more as he has been in the game since nearly the beginning

Sure! But what is about you, you share your old Money/Coins with anyone else??? ... I doubt!

so is it more likely that ck no longer wants to manage a pool? if so, would it not be better then to join another pool that the pool manager wants to operate?

Maybe, but i think he still likes to manage it Huh Yes! Use another "solo "pool" provider. Maybe he's legit maybe not? ... What about runing your own full node and a bitcoind and submit a block hash???

However, we all can decide by our own where whe point our hash, i think Wink

oh, do not get me wrong - I am not saying anyone cannot do what they want.

but I have never seen a pool where the miners had to pay for upgrades to the servers, the pool operator usually does as they do get paid quite well when miners find blocks. so the pool operator is never "unpaid"

what business has it's customers pay for the upgrades? none, at least not directly - the customers may pay thru the fees or purchases but never directly. when you pay directly you become an investor vs a customer - so maybe now everyone who contributes will be an investor? and get returns on their investment outside of any mining reward they earn?

and yes we can all decide where we put our hash - I never said otherwise nor have I tried to directly make anyone point to anywhere.

I was simply asking why this was being done - I myself point an r606 at the solo pool and have for quite some time.

Running a miner with less then 200 TH is not worth moving to kano, it will only produce dust, and that will never be paid.

Solo.ckpool.org is at the moment the only alternative.

Kano initiated dust payments many months ago - I think there are more to be paid out though - waiting for the next block reward and as for the 200th limit you state - I have had less than 30 th on the pool at various times and gotten payments quite a bit over the dust limit. so 200 th is by no means a requirement or necessary to be above dust limit.

not an attack against ck by any means - just never saw where miners had to pay the costs for a pool manager to keep a pool open or where they needed to pay miners who lost blocks because of a pool error.

question -

the first line of your listing states:

6x Sapphire RX580 Nitro + 8GR RAM

but then you put:

without Graphic Cards

at the bottom. So is it with or without the cards? as your ad conflicts.
