701  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this the right time to buy now? Or wait for a bit to go even lower? on: December 17, 2019, 03:30:31 PM
Tone Vays took to Twitter recently to make an exceptionally bearish call regarding Bitcoin. He claims that it will soon be the “best time to ‘buy the dip’ for years to come.”

Tone Vays is a popular cryptocurrency trader who has caused divisions in the cryptocurrency community, so much so that some tend to counter-trade his calls. That being said, Vays has just made a new bearish call for Bitcoin which he claims will be the best buying opportunity yet.

Of course, everyone can predict and say that it’s now the best time to “buy the dip” like Tone Vays.

However, if you are indeed a long-term risk taker or a day trader, you can take his advice. However, I am still not yet sure if this is already the last time that Bitcoin will reach its bottom.

In my own analysis, I can say that Bitcoin may be pumping a bit later and then going to drop again and meet its bottom. Halving won’t even guarantee us that Bitcoin would pump.

Honestly, I would like to wait a bit before it goes down even further to fill my buy order.

Well we all do hope that it will be going down further, and after days gone by hoping and mange to skip the bottom and will still hope to buy at the dip, it is too late, we will be regretting this time, the time it is still available for us commoners who got spare amount of money that we did not take the chance for a once in a lifetime moment in the future. Every moment in this time is a great chance, or else may this will be our last to see this price ever again, we should gamble and take the risk-buy and hodl.
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: One of the Biggest Universities in Western Australia Launches Cryptocurrency on: December 16, 2019, 09:50:26 PM
It is a good thing, just thinking some universities will be onto Bitcoin gives a good impression on crypto. Aside from that it is a source of knowledge, a place where some intelligent people are. The fact that it is in there means some people will acknowledge it, accept that it is legit and can be trusted.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the fate of Scammers if bitcoin later becomes a traceable Currency. on: December 16, 2019, 02:17:32 PM
Bitcoin as a currency that is decentralized, they is no Headquarters for Bitcoin and it has no Central office where they distribute information concerning Bitcoin, Like illicit transactions that money was lost but recovered after some investigations through the distributed information.

like someone said on my previous thread that more people will be comfortable using bitcoin if these features comes into place.

Share your thoughts.
Well if the scammers are professionals and even new, I think they would not do such things in the first place. Only dumb people who are ready to get jailed or messed up will certain engage on those illicit activities. As of now lets just avoid being scammed an the likes, that way we can minimize criminal activities in the crypto space.
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are so few women buying into Bitcoin? on: December 15, 2019, 03:29:04 PM
They don't care because you have given them a small amount but see to it if you'll be giving them hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of bitcoin, they will remember it and probably cash it immediately.

I guess the interest of woman isn't really into this but in the future, this might change.

I strongly agree, even with all the Bitcoins I had since from the beginning my wife is not even interested of it, she support me but never have the interest in crypto all the way. Maybe most women like to have their valuable things touchable and not just only in a usb like stick thats not shining and shimmering at all.
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, Spouses and Divorce on: December 15, 2019, 01:59:07 PM
Hello Folks,

I was listening to a Bitcoin podcast the other day and the speaker mentioned that one person had written to him asking for advice - his wife had heard about Bitcoin in the mainstream media and the price rise and was pressuring him to cash it all out immediately or she would leave him.

I don't know how that particular fellow ended up but it got me thinking - for those of us with partners who are not into Bitcoin, have you ever had pressure put on you to sell it up and are they even aware of how much BTC you are actually holding?

There is a bigger picture here as well, with some people holding hundreds or thousands of BTC and the price continuing to go up - how might the court system view Bitcoin in the context of divorce and separation?

It certainly raises an interesting point.

Thoughts?

As of now the ones who are telling me to cash out is my father, my wife doesn't care about winning or losing in traded. She supports me even if I fail this investment, so I think I have no worries about being left by my partner, an I am glad about that.
706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Google's Quantum Computer Destroy Bitcoin? on: December 14, 2019, 02:52:44 PM
This is already asked here many times why don't you try to search it first to find out?

Anyway, here's what I found https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4666014.0

So, I think you can get the best answers under the archive link provided from the thread above.

I will read the archive later after I am done with my home works, but for now I am wondering if the recent price is connected to googles being able to make a chip that can be a super computer and break through Bitcoin. What if it is not true and just making things just to bring down the price of bitcoin and other crypto currencies?
707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After years in this space...I am now a BTC/ETH maximalist (Both are important) on: December 14, 2019, 01:19:12 PM
I love Bitcoin...LOVE it!  But when it really comes down to it, I use Ethereum in actual, practical use cases.  I recently bought something in USDC...which utilizes Ethereum.  Stablescoins, ICOs, IEOs, SEOs, Defi will be built on Ethereum.
If you fall in love so hard with Ethereum explain me more about it, why?
I mean Bitcoin have value, limited supply etc. Its stable, reliable and future-optimistic.

Then we have ethereum, with hacks, dao rollback, creator deciding to roll back transactions thousands of people or even more because of one hacker, no limited supply, questionable use-cases. I would like to hear im wrong somewhere.
Give me 3 good use cases of Ethereum where Bitcoin can't do them ( im not talking about margin hyper super loan posivite trading negative crazy options)

If he truly loves Ethereum he should also put an effort to love the alts on its network, without them the Ethereum network would not be as t is right now, I mean it is mostly used as a transaction gas, an payments to send another coin. If it isn't made for that then I guess it is no different than other alts.

716  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason for current bloodbath on: November 22, 2019, 03:42:24 PM
We have seen a overall bloodbath of all the crypto currencies and bitcoin being no expectation, but most of the users had predicted a dump before pump which could possibly happen post halving but isn't it too early that we are witnessing this dump? What do you think has created this dump?

Strategies here and there I guess,  If the whales really had the power to turn the tides then this is it. After this and the halving is done, who do you think is the one that wins this game? The whales are, this just a repetition of the past, people will sell due to panic and then lose money, again later on they cry and buy bitcoin again with high price that the whales are selling bits by bits.
717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal CEO Is a HODLr, but Only Owns Bitcoin on: November 22, 2019, 02:45:46 PM
PayPal CEO Dan Schulman, in describing why the payment company decided to withdraw from Libra, also revealed that he is a hodlr of cryptocurrency, but only Bitcoin.

Interviewed by Fortune magazine, he answered the question if he personally owned any cryptocurrency:

“Yes. Bitcoin.”

Source link here

Okay now this seems to be pretty interesting to me. Since he's a Bitcoin HODLer, I don't know if this is a sign that he could add BTC as one of features for Paypal. If that happens, I don't know what would that be. Probably might integrate Bitcoin as one of the payment options aside from Visa, Mastercard and AMEX?

I have a Paypal account until now, but I only use it like few times a year since entering into the world of cryptocurrencies. Paypal was the payment processor I trusted during my early years as a virtual assistant. However, their fees are eating our funds apart. This is why Bitcoin is such a great alternative, and no doubt Dan Schulman's already convinced about owning some Bitcoin in the first place.

I am starting to imagine how would the CeO of Dan S. would become if the price of Bitcoin skyrockets again. The fact that he answered yes, and has bitcoins means there will be a chance of growth and partnership with Paypal. I am done already using Paypal since it sucks to us that works online with an average wage, that is why I also used bitcoin as an alternative.
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your best investment in crypto since 2018 on: November 22, 2019, 01:08:38 PM
Hello Bitcointalkers,
What is your best investment in the crypto space since 2018? As the 2019 year is ending, so, we can have a discussion about it. For me, my best investment was the Counting House ICO in 2018. The sale price was 1100 CHT token for 1 Ethereum and later it's price hit more than 3 USD per coin. I am still finding a project like Counting House, but haven't seen yet.

Goof for you and the ones who bought that coin, really is a good investment. I haven't been engaging in alts lately as I have a hard time picking on where to invest. So I put most of my time on my business and bought Bitcoin instead. My alts that I have bought since 20178-2018 are still on most exchanges and never had open them, they were top notch coins like ADA. I will look for promising projects later if I had the time.
719  Economy / Economics / Re: Fidelity wins bitcoin trading and custody licence in New York on: November 22, 2019, 11:02:55 AM
According to the Financial Times:

https://www.ft.com/content/eb3fce1c-0a80-11ea-b2d6-9bf4d1957a67

Quote
Fidelity has been granted a trust licence to offer trading and custody of bitcoin by the New York State Department of Financial Services, as the asset management group continues to woo cautious institutional investors into the “Wild West” of digital assets.

The move allows Fidelity’s new digital assets subsidiary to launch a digital currency custody and execution platform “on which institutional investors and individuals can securely store, purchase, sell, and transfer bitcoin” to New York residents, the DFS said.

Boston-based Fidelity, which has about $2.8tn of assets under management, made clear last year it intended to take the plunge to offer digital assets services to Wall Street, where other regulated groups have held back from the nascent marketplace.

This is potentially huge. Fidelity has a lot of existing customers who use their online investment services - so making it easy for this group to trade bitcoin may mean a lot of new money entering the bitcoin space.

Another good news for the crypto space, especially to bitcoin network, things will get lively again. Not mention New York- it is a big city and have been for a city that never sleeps, well I guess all of the transaction all around the world in the bitcoin network dosn't sleep at all.
720  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum computing is not really a Bitcoin problem. on: November 21, 2019, 09:26:26 PM
I’m no computer expert, but my understanding is that several years from now or even a couple of decades, quantum computers will be able to crack Bitcoin private keys therefore jeopardizing security or our wallets.

I would contend that the security of Bitcoin and altcoins is not the only thing we should worry about. All the passwords we use every day for bank accounts, emails, etc. will be much easier to crack than a Bitcoin private key.  Those less secure passwords are the most vulnerable.

I think that as this becomes more realistic, there will be defenses put in place to protect all types of passwords, not just Bitcoin private keys.

Please share your thoughts and correct me where I’m wrong

Thanks

I guess you are right. The first one to be receive and attack are the ones less secured network like banks, and financial institutions aside from crypto. If ever they had invented quantum computers, the people on the revolution like satoshi would come up with a strategy and counter it, I think he is smart enough to think ahead, they are a genius after all.
