721  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL still hasn't shipped a single single? on: May 31, 2013, 08:31:00 PM
Josh's bullshit Post of the Day on May 24th was "As for the Singles, hopefully next week... we should have some boards coming in on Tuesday I think."

Another week gone by and still no singles shipped.

IIRC they started "shipping" jalapenos at the start of May.  May is now gone by and they've shipped how many jale's?   100 tops?

There is obviously zero bitcoin enthusiasts with a background in Law because BFL should have been taken to court months ago.
If BFL is taken to court, then no one gets their miners.  If they are not, then people get their miners, they just get them late.

Given that a 60GH/s single is still slated to make $10k/month, I'm sure most first-day orderers would much rather take the non-litigation route and have a money machine pumping out as much in one day as they'd be likely to see in reward from any lawsuit.

Sorry I don't follow you there. If they are dragged in curt they wouldn't do themselves any good by not cooperating.
And there aren't even prototypes for the singles.

That said I remember the same kind of rhetoric being used with pirate.
If they are dragged into court and forced to pay anything more than they can afford to pay, then the company goes under and creditors only get a portion of their money back, and no one gets any more miners, because the company went under.

There is a prototype for the single.  It was shown at the 2013 Bitcoin Conference.  Many people walked around that table with a 52GH/s machine hashing away on it.

I'm certain people did use the same kind of rhetoric with pirate.  I myself have no doubt BFL will eventually deliver working ASIC miners to all of their customers myself, but I understand why people still have their doubts.  Anyone who still has an order in with BFL (and thus would have a reason to sue them) is likely in the same boat of believing they will still deliver, thus, they would be out of their minds to initiate a lawsuit against BFL.

As long as BFL continues giving out refunds to whomever asks for one, they are in no danger of being sued.

So you don't want BFL to be taken to court because the penalties for their illegal activities will be the final nail in the coffin?
Exactly.  Why would I want $800 instead of a money machine printing $800/day, even if it is 9 months later than expected?

723  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockRun.com - Penny auctions on the blockchain on: May 31, 2013, 07:06:05 PM
dipsy: stop putting up bitcoin for bitcoin auctions. It's retarded because anyone can sabotage the game. All they have to do is put in a bid for 1 BTC and they'll ruin it for everyone.
Why not let everyone bid how they like?  Sure, anyone can sabotage the game, but there's a chance that no one will sabotage the game.  People bid on that chance.

LSD is worth 30,000$ per gram, doesn't stop people from "investing" into it even though they are buying 0.00005 of a gram for 20 bucks. Are drug users more enlightened than the average Bitcoin user?
There's a difference between investing and moving product you know will sell at a higher price.

--- ANYWAY, we all have preferences and I for one will remain 6 feet tall and 135 lbs instead of 1.288 Meters and 61,235 grams. Back on topic.
I can see your metric conversions are working most excellently.  Wink

Are we allowed multiple entries?

Yes, you can enter multiple entries. I will update rules.

@SgtSpike: You forgot to add a bitcoin address.

@acs26: You call that happy? It is downright depressing!
My bad!

Some profiling:

A friend of mine has a great guide over at BitcoinSBS.wordpress.com that I would highly recommend checking out. He even has a book located on Amazon.

I have been around these forums for quite a while but finally got off my lazy chair and got an account set up and ready to go.

Just wanted to tell everyone hello and that I will be spending a good bit of time helping to contribute to the community by answering questions that I have learned in my experience with business + bitcoins + ammo!

Thanks,
Craig

(bitmunitions is an alt for someone who has been around for a while)

Haha. Trollbox archive! I love the BTC-e chat but, for the life of me, cannot figure out why everyone is so obsessed with Fontas!
(uses BTC-e chat often)

You could always exchange a large number of LTC to BTC at a decent price and send to a wallet or MTGOX for withdrawal. I have not heard much success of people funding BTC-E with USD or withdrawing effectively.

3) there are rumors MTGOX will get into the LTC business first quarter 2014.
(likely an LTC trader)

Seems like Slush's pool has been getting a lot of attention and getting attacked lately by these cyber-criminals. However, at this moment it seems to be operating fine, however the website is down for maintenance.
(slush miner?)

Ponzi schemes are actually a decent profit for the early adopters. Partially the reason a lot of news outlets were calling Bitcoin a ponzi scheme in the beginning.

Hell, some still do :/
(might be early adopter, 2011 vintage?)

Another guy who signs his name Craig in at least one post:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=19701.msg246342#msg246342
Another Craig:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=8902.msg129168#msg129168, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=21885.msg425757#msg425757
(first is more likely a match, with the valediction and comma in it, and improper capitalization by the second poster)

Bee's Brothers apparently have someone named Craig in their family.  Not a likely match - they have a successful business, no need to ruin their reputation?  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=60863.msg798513#msg798513

Original Craig certainly has a propensity to offer businesses up.  Entrepreneurial type looking for money for sure.  Likelihood of match increasing... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=21189.0

Second Craig uses proper capitalization and a valediction with a comma.  But that's not his normal pattern: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=41764.msg510869#msg510869

Conclusion: Bitmunitions could be an alias account of user "Craig".  Most likely path of resolution seems to be through the friend with a published book.  Ask them if they know anyone named Craig who is in to Bitcoins.
728  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitmunitions.com - Secure ammunition re-seller that only accepts Bitcoins on: May 31, 2013, 06:28:27 PM
Not trying to be rude, but you skipped over my questions OP:

Also, how do we know you're legit?  Can you post pictures of the ammo boxes you have in stock?  Can you release your address, name or at least registered business name?  Posting cheap prices on fake ammo these days would be a great way to scam a lot of people out of money...

I would love to order from you if you are legitimately selling ammo.

Apologies thought I clicked them all. The main address I own is that of the warehouse and I cannot release that. However, I do have a mail box at 1250 14th Street, Box #112, Denver, Colorado 80217. My real first name is Craig and I will be getting a copyright/incorporation within the week hopefully to protect my assets.

Have had about 8 successful orders so far and processing 4 more at the moment. They should be dispatched as soon as possible.
Anyone want to call up the post office at that address and find out more about that PO box he's given?

729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Start Using mBTC as Standard Denomination? on: May 31, 2013, 06:21:00 PM
I voted Yes, but I should have voted this option:

Switch to XBT. An XBT is 100 satoshi (or 1/1,000,000 BTC). This allows us to have $21,000,000,000,000 units of the base unit of currency, and an exchange rate much less threatening to newcomers.

I like the idea of allowing for more price growth in Bitcoin, and also complying with international standards for having only two decimal places of fractionality.

This makes sense.
I mean think about it.  Who WOULDN'T want to jump on the Bitcoin gravy train if you could buy a share for $0.00012 that is predicted to be worth $54/ea by Bloomberg?  Heck, who wouldn't immediately buy 100,000 shares of the stuff, as a "just in case" hedge?
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Start Using mBTC as Standard Denomination? on: May 31, 2013, 05:44:58 PM
It amazes me to an extent just how much people are motivated by such trivial psychological factors.

This much?

Which one is better half banana, quarter banana or 60 bananas?
Me too, but it is a very real psychological phenomenon, and far from trivial.  This is a legitimate conversation to have if we want to see mass adoption of Bitcoin.

You know why they have stock splits?  100% because of the psychological barrier of people not wanting to invest in stock valued much higher per share than comparable stocks in the same industry.

Bitcoin needs a stock split.  It is far too overvalued per unit for the average person to feel good about investing in it.

732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good bye LTC? on: May 31, 2013, 05:05:25 PM
LTC was 0.021 just prior to the announcement that MtGox was going to implement LTC.  The announcement was made, LTC shot up to 0.03+.  It's been coming back down ever since, as MtGox's LTC implementation has been put on hold.

Once MtGox LTC actually DOES happen, LTC will shoot right back up again.

Did you change the settings first to enable android to be able to load apps from unknown sources?

Nope - I had no idea such a thing existed.  I'm assuming I can find out how to do that via google, so I won't ask you to detail the process.

Like I said, I know very little about the Android world.  Wink
734  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: why still so many blocks with 243kB? on: May 31, 2013, 04:49:16 PM
25 BTCs is still a lot for 3 times more free transactions, no?

Not sure what you are saying.  A miner can get 25 BTC for no free transactions.  Including more free transactions doesn't increase their reward however (in theory) a larger block does increase the chance of orphans.  Some more free transactions = less net reward over time.  Most pools are "nice" and knowing it supports Bitcoin ecosystem, which supports exchange rates, which pays their bills will still include "some" free transactions but increasingly people should start to consider Bitcoin "low cost" not "free".  Of course if you think this is "wrong" you can always start mining and include nothing but free transactions.  Smiley   I stopped mining in February so I no longer have a horse in this race.

Bitcoin is free as in free speech not free beer.

Yes, I am just surprised that miners(most of them pools) still care that much about transaction fees, to the extent that no-fee transactions would sometimes take forever to be included into a block, I thought the 25 BTCs reward is already enough for them to take minimal care about how many free transactions they have to include, especially given that we are still nowhere near the size limit.
It's still money, even if it is a small amount.

Including more transactions makes the block larger, which makes propagation time slower, which increases the chance of orphans.  Therefore, miners want to only include transactions with a transaction fee so that they are getting paid in exchange for the higher risk they run by increasing their chance of the block orphaning.
735  Economy / Auctions / Re: Bentley GT continental (2004 ) registed sell for BITCOIN.. on: May 31, 2013, 04:43:33 PM
Would you mind looking to see what shipping to the US would be along with the duty? I just don't have the time but would be interested in maybe 280-300BTC.
You understand that the driver seat is inverted, right?

I did not think about that. That's a shame. At about $42,000 USD I think it's a great deal. The same car where I live is around $76,000+ that's why I was curious about shipping and duty. I have been looking at this car as well as the Phantom same year. I am a huge fan of the older model Ferraris but with a wife and three kids that's not in the picture until they ship off to college. I do wish you luck in selling your car!
Sounds like a great deal indeed!  I would much rather have a 2004 Bentley than a 2013 Camry.  Smiley

I wonder what gas, insurance and maintenance costs would compare to.

739  Other / Off-topic / Galaxy Tab 2 + Real Racing 3 question on: May 30, 2013, 10:40:49 PM
My grandpa has a Galaxy Tab 2.  He wants to give the game Real Racing 3 a try, but it's not officially supported by the Google Play store.  That's fine - I don't care if it isn't officially supported, I just want to know how I can get the unofficial version installed.

Keep in mind that I only have a little experience with Android/Linux stuff in the first place.  But that's why I'm asking here, because many of you are freaking experts on the stuff.

I spent around an hour reading through various posts about people getting it working, but haven't had any luck myself.  I downloaded an .apk file for the game, but when I clicked on it, it said it couldn't be opened.  When I went to the terminal and tried to open it, same thing.  I can't remember the exact error, my apologies, but it was along the lines of it couldn't be opened.

So my question is, do I have to do some sort of root to be able to open .apk files?  If so, is there a recommended guide for accomplishing this?  Any risk of bricking the tablet if I attempt it?

If it's not a root, then any idea why the tablet won't open the .apk file?

I might be on the same boat if it wasn't for all the VC money pouring in to Bitcoin startups.  VC's have a good eye for "the next big thing", so I'm going to follow their lead on this.
