Ok cool, and just to be clear to put money back in my wallet i'd just overwrite empty wallet.dat with my loaded wallet.dat yes?

Sorry don't mean to clog up the forum with such a newbie question.  I've backed up my wallet and encrypted it in 3 places, I'd like my balance to be zero in my wallet.  While bitcoin is closed would I just delete the wallet file and a new one will be made?

I know there are other threads on things like this, but I just want to hear it directly before I do something dumb.

Don't buy bitcoins from xerces.  He got me for 200 bucks.  He even admitted that he screwed me over.  I'm sure he'll change his screen name and go for more newbies but just letting you know.

This guy ripped me off.  Tried to buy 20 bitcoins... got 0 bitcoins.

I tried to buy 20 bitcoins from this guy, payed him and haven't heard from him.  Guess I got screwed.  I should have scrolled down a little further on his posts, if I would have seen this I woulda stayed away.  I guess most newbies go through this.
