721  Other / Meta / Have we left "Bitcoin Discussion" board for spammers, forever?? on: September 04, 2018, 11:25:48 AM
It really breaks my heart when I visit 'Bitcoin Discussion' board and see the amount of spam there. And believe me, I'm not saying this only to show that I care for the forum, though I do, but I really mean what I'm saying right now and it is really saddening to see this, honestly.

The amount of spam and spammers are increasing all over the forum, but it seems like that board has become their ultimate destination to spit their shit and increase their activities or meet their post thresholds for their campaigns or whatever their reason is behind this. The situation hasn't been this bad before maybe, but now, you cannot find a single thread/topic that hasn't turned into a SMT (Spam Mega Thread), and it takes only a few hours for that to happen. That is how much spam they generate in that board.

I know that almost every single person knows all the things that I just said, but what compelled me to start this discussion is that I wanted to ask everyone that why have we left that board just for them? I know they are way more in quantity than us, but that doesn't justify leaving them all alone, so that they do whatever they want and we won't even touch that board at all.

The forum is named "Bitcointalk" which technically means "Talking about Bitcoin" or something like that. And the place to do that (Bitcoin Discussion board) is covered totally with useless discussions that we don't even want to see. I know that we can't just get them out of there, but at least we can discuss our own things, separately, in that board. That is what Moderated Threads are all about.

I just wonder how nice it would be to have some nice and qualitative Bitcoin discussions with the people that I see and read in Meta or other sections of the forum. What if all of them come together, discussing something regarding Bitcoin? A topic, totally free of spammers, with only quality posters. We can achieve that by creating Moderated Threads in Bitcoin Discussion board where we have the power to delete unsubstantial posts and only leave the ones that contribute something to the discussion.

We should not leave that board only to them. It deserves way more attention from the ones who care for the forum than what it is getting right now.
722  Other / Meta / Re: Most entertaining person on bitcointalk ? on: September 03, 2018, 04:45:58 PM
I think Vod and pugman deserve to be among the nominees if its mainly about being humorous (they are good in everything, no doubt). I personally enjoy reading these two a lot, on every single thread they take part in. And what about JC (Jet Cash, in case a reader doesn't understand it that way)? His sense of humor is also noticeable most of the times.
723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just got a little extra money and want to invest in crypto, should I? on: September 03, 2018, 11:44:12 AM
I want to invest in BTC but the price is too high for me

You don't need to buy a complete Bitcoin. Bitcoin has 8 decimals, which is why you can buy even the smallest amount of it, according to your price range.

what do you think will be the next BTC
one you can buy low and make a good profit when it burst?

I wish someone could know that so that we all could buy it and become millionaires after a few years. But it is a mystery, known by no one in the world.
724  Other / Meta / Re: Ban in the dark. on: September 02, 2018, 06:15:33 PM
The reason probably is that you have participated in a giveaway where you had to only like or follow some pages or something and post your address to receive the tokens from the giveaway. But someone can only verify if it's the right reason or not if you share your banned account to let us have a look at your post history which will reveal the actual reason behind this ban.
725  Other / Meta / Re: 3 connected accounts (1 of them found plagiarism). How about ban all of them? on: September 02, 2018, 11:00:11 AM
Nice find.
You should probably post this in this thread by following the given format there. That thread is for alts of everyone that are caught and I think there are DT members involved in that thread who would negative tag these accounts.
About plagiarism, you should have reported that to a moderator and it would get what it deserves for that.
726  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did crypto affect your studies? on: September 02, 2018, 10:50:33 AM
It should not affect your studies unless you have a hundred accounts in signature campaigns and you are writing posts from all of them everyday, sitting every hour in front of your computer. If that is not the case, you should do fine with both your studies and crypto involvements.
Trading cryptocurrencies does not require you to spend all your time on it. You can simply fix a time for your trades and you do them in that time and dedicate your remaining time to your studies. If you are a panic seller or something like that, it would definitely be difficult for you because even if you are reading a book, your mind would be on the crypto market, thinking where the price might have gone by now.
727  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies! Kindly Read This..! on: September 02, 2018, 10:09:40 AM
Maybe its because they want to get to 30 actuivity adap so they can get to jr member rank and be able to join the signature campaigns?

They can get activities by posting in latest topics as well. Why would they do it in those very much old threads?
And, signature campaigns should be limited to Member+ accounts. It has been said a lot of times before but isn't enforced yet. It would definitely reduce spam to a very large extent.

Saw one again today:

The last reply on that thread was about 8 months ago, in December 2017, and people, I don't know from where, have found it and started posting in it again just like it has been started yesterday. I don't really understand the mindset of such people who don't even bother to read the starting post before starting to reply, or maybe they read the starting post but just don't see the date it was posted on.

This is the thread I'm talking about here:

728  Economy / Economics / Re: Central Bank of Crypto-Currency on: September 01, 2018, 06:15:50 PM
Creating a Central Bank of Crypto-currency may no longer sound ridiculous

It still sounds ridiculous. Decentralization is what makes cryptos different from fiat, and if there are crypto banks just like the traditional banks then there is no meaning of using cryptos. Because, such a bank would obviously make it centralized and they will be in control of all the cryptos people deposit in there.
Countries adopting the technology does not change anything about the concept of the technology which is decentralization, and creating a bank would change that which is not good.
729  Economy / Services / Re: Selling YouTube Channel with 35,000 subscribers | 6.4M Views on: September 01, 2018, 06:00:32 PM
Asking 1 Bitcoin for a channel that barely gets 3 views per day even after having 35k subscribers is totally insane. Its not the number of subscribers that make a channel worth something, but it is the activity of the subscribers, and it seems your channel has about zero active subscribers.

Some of his older videos happen to be very popular, but unfortunately they have nothing to do with cryptocurrencies.

I don't consider a video to be popular if it gets about 600k views in a time frame of 5 years or so.
730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies! Kindly Read This..! on: September 01, 2018, 04:49:35 PM
With all these signature campaigns it will be something we gave to work with as people feel the need to get their needed posts a week in as little effort as possible it seems.

This particular problem doesn't really have anything to do with signature campaigns because Newbies cannot join them anymore and I haven't noticed any of them wearing any paid signature when I saw them posting. It is just lack of care that draws them to do this I guess.

First of all, I'm not sure how Newbies find these old dead topics?

They basically surf more than one pages in a section in search of a topic where they can fit at least something that is somehow on-topic regardless of the date of that thread and the quality of their post.

But I think that they are just a part of problem. Ok, they bump old topic, but what we see further - then many high ranked users also replying to bumped topic without looking to date when it was created.

Exactly!
When a topic is bumped to the top, people start replying to the posts from the bottom without noticing the date when that discussion was started, and that process keeps killing the new topics in that section which move down in numbers when the dead start coming back to live.
731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies! Kindly Read This..! on: September 01, 2018, 12:37:07 PM
Well, we need to post on such thread because we have something to share and we have the idea that need to be heard by all; thus, we post on such thread.

Why on earth would you need to share your thoughts on a topic that has been inactive for months now while there are other new and ongoing discussions that you can be a part of? It doesn't make any sense. And its not even like the posts that are made on those threads are somehow constructive, but they are utterly useless replies that even deserve to be deleted.

However, most of the people trying to open this post were not all newbies, let us consider that there are ranks who erroneously open a discussion just for the sake of their bounty campaign. So, definitely, this information is for all!
In fact, what you said is not just caused by Newbie. Many high-level accounts will do the same!

I understand that some higher level accounts might do the same thing, but that is very rare to find. All I have seen so far have been newbies posting in those dead threads making them alive again. And, considering the fact that a higher ranked member would understand such a basic thing, I just pointed out newbies doing this because they are the majority behind this new kind of spam wave.
732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies! Kindly Read This..! on: August 31, 2018, 07:06:46 PM
If all newbies would do this then spam in this forum will be lessen.

And even if it doesn't lessen the spam, it would definitely not bring down the threads/topics created recently and might are important to be seen for some people. When old threads start getting spaces on the top, all the new threads start getting down on the list which is what should not be happening.

I'll be more careful in the future.

Good!
At least someone accepted this. I hope everyone else do too.

<.....>

Exactly. You see that in every other section these days. They simply just open the last page of the thread and I even doubt if they even read a few replies and then they just post something regardless of the date when that discussion was started.
I just wanted to post this so that if even a few of them read this and don't do this again, I will think I, at least, did a very small thing for the betterment of the forum.
733  Other / Meta / Re: My thread got trashed without a notification and without a reason. on: August 31, 2018, 06:46:47 PM
There has been some other complains as well about replies and threads being deleted without any known reasoning. Mods will surely have to clarify this as users would get disappointed by such things. I, personally, would definitely feel bad if any of my replies or topics get deleted while they shouldn't.
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Withdrawing and depositing EOSIO account on: August 31, 2018, 06:40:42 PM
Thanks for the reply!

The problem is that the tokens are not in my Metamask anymore, they are on the EOSIO blockchain.

MEW and Metamask do not support them as they are not ERC-20 anymore i was told by EOS support.

You're welcome.
I'm actually getting a little confused over here. The coins are in the blockchain or do you mean they are in a wallet? If they are in a wallet, why aren't you being able to send them to an exchange? Can you please clarify that a little more?
735  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard on: August 31, 2018, 10:45:38 AM
Nice work!

I can see in the "Weekly Merit Evolution" section that the amount sent every week is gradually decreasing. Is that because we are getting low on quality posts or that just indicates that Merit abusers are running out of 'em as the time is passing? As theymos said, that they would eventually run out of sMerits if they try to cheat the system and keep sending them between each other.

I think you’re confusing Satoshi with theymos..

Oops! I'm not confused but I just unknowingly wrote "satoshi" instead of "theymos". God, he never gets out of my mind!  Grin
I edited the post and changed it to theymos.
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Withdrawing and depositing EOSIO account on: August 31, 2018, 10:26:30 AM
Are you willing to sell them? If so, you can simply do it by singing into your MetaMask and then opening Etherdelta and depositing them there. Once the transaction is confirmed, you can put them on sale and then withdraw your Ethereum balance to your MetaMask once they are sold out.
I don't have or had any EOS tokens, so I have no experience about its wallet and stuff.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is cryptocurrency so difficult to understand on: August 31, 2018, 10:02:07 AM
It is not the concept of cryptocurrency itself that is difficult to understand, it is just the back-end of the technology that is too complex, but it is not a necessity for everyone to understand that. All you need to tell them are the basic things about cryptocurrencies, like how they work, how to make a wallet or send/receive a transaction. I think even someone without much knowledge about internet or such technology can understand such simple things. If you make it confusing for them, then they will not understand for sure assuming they have never heard of it before.
738  Other / Beginners & Help / Newbies! Kindly Read This..! on: August 30, 2018, 06:35:52 PM
Hello!

Recently, I have seen a lot of newbies posting in threads that are very old and aren't active anymore. The first page of a section is supposed to have active and ongoing discussions while such actions don't let them be.

If you are a newbie, please take some time and read the OP (opening post) from the first page of any thread before you post anything to make sure it is not old. Because when you reply to an old thread, it pops up to the top again and people start posting in it once again which is something shouldn't be done.
You don't need to share your opinion about a topic that was started in early 2017 or even before that. There are hundreds of new topics which you can use to express your feelings. I'm not saying that you should post in almost every single one of them, but if you think you have something to say about a topic then you should first see the starting date of that and then go on. Posting replies without reading the starting date of a thread only makes the dead alive.

I hope people take this seriously.
739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Glad to be here! on: August 30, 2018, 11:12:25 AM
Welcome!

Read stickies in every section you go before you do anything else. And avoid posting purposelessly as that would make you a spammer and you will lost your identity once you are counted among the thousands that do the same thing I'm telling you to avoid.

Good luck.
