741  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto news feed on: July 31, 2023, 01:06:25 PM
A service that requires login should also include a clear privacy policy, unfortunately I haven't come across that so far. Also I see a list of alternative logins, one of which is using metamask, what are the access permissions required?
742  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: A Feature in electrum wallet on: July 30, 2023, 02:39:09 AM
Since the wallet is noncustodial and does not collect user info, I don't know if it's possible.
But it would be great if Electrum could detect how many devices are connected to the same wallet.
Hackers don't definitely use electrum.
If we have to get your idea workable and in sync with all existing or future wallet apps, first the feature has to be built in the blockchain protocol and one day bitcoin could really not work in some places. It violates the concept of decentralization.
743  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do exchanges impact the performance of newly listed token? on: July 30, 2023, 01:49:01 AM
Yes that was. Basically it depends on the quality of the project, good projects also want their coins to be traded in an effective and sustainable manner. So their choice is the top exchange which has standard eligibility requirements to list new coins.
But if you pay attention nowadays, the top exchanges are becoming less selective about listing serious projects, they even have a special category for pesky tokens. Thus, exchange status is no longer a guarantee of meeting expectations.
744  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Had 165k ETH stolen last night. on: July 29, 2023, 11:44:42 PM
I am afraid about it. Even though I never keep my private key online, is there any way I can check if my wallet is already compromised or not?
If you're talking self-control addresses, if that address has output transactions that aren't from your activity, its definitely compromised.

Is there any wallet that shows login logs? Do you guys believe we can request such a feature to some wallet providers and do you think they may consider it?
Technically your address is active all the time and can be exported to other wallet platforms by some key derivation method, so there is no log detection and no point in requesting such a feature.
745  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best platform for selling digital products with crypto? on: July 29, 2023, 01:35:00 PM
But i did not receive the money as a seller! There is no place in the website that explain how to do a withdraw and i did not find any page that does that. At first i thought they will automatically send me the bitcoins as i have already entered my bitcoin address but i did not receive anything. ( If anyone knows how to withdraw money from shoppy.gg please contact me )
Is it confirmed according to blockchain explorer? Also if you look at the balance in your shoppy acc. then see if they set any conditions such as min. confirmation to update the balance summary.
I'm not a shoppy user, if I read their FAQ, you shouldn't need to withdraw the balance because they don't provide asset deposit.
Receiving a refund for a purchase »
We're sorry to hear that your purchase requires a refund. Unfortunately, Shoppy is unable to provide assistance with refunds as all payments go directly to the seller and therefore Shoppy does not hold/escrow payments and all products are seller controlled.

746  Economy / Speculation / Re: The time has finally come...??? on: July 29, 2023, 12:48:45 PM
I invite you to think about my scenario here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5453194.msg62485641#msg62485641

That's just crude speculation, the wild idea, the next ATH ignores the potential for sentimental news, as the last bullrun in the past happened in the midst of econimic crises. Nowadays there are more and more bitcoin holdings in many institutions, I think it's an advantage to support significant price pumps on the spot market without needing more absorption of crypto marketcap into bitcoin.
747  Other / Archival / Re: How to manage bitcoin correctly? on: July 29, 2023, 10:19:58 AM
Selling just to switch investments? My opinion tends to say no when you say you have poor management skills. Even if someone suggests you a better investment instrument, I think you find another hesitation to take profit.

Actually how much longer can you afford to hold, and what is your (reasonable) target price? When you answer this, then you have to commit to it.
748  Other / Meta / Re: how do mod get selected? do they get paid? on: July 29, 2023, 10:04:56 AM
how anyone can become mod of a specific board?
I think they're appointed independently, but for local staff usually theymos first ask the local community to suggest candidates who then hold a vote to determine 1 or more users.

Quote
do mod get paid? who pays to mods and how much they earn?
At every forum ad space auction event in the past, theymos mentioned that in the first paragraph. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=920291.msg10110267#msg10110267

About 25% of ad income goes to the forum moderators as thanks for all of their work. (There are many moderators, so each moderator gets only a small amount -- moderators should be seen as volunteers, not employees.)

Don't expect me to go first.
And let me dissuade you from expecting otherwise.
I found accusations of fraud elsewhere against the email you posted on this forum.

750  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Twitter Stock Experience the same Rise? on: July 28, 2023, 04:55:42 PM
I was just about to go back here and say that. You're right, Twitter will not go back to its old days when it used to dominate other social platforms. The new changes that comes with the rebranding of Twitter to X throws a lot of users off. Many are slowly leaving Twitter to use Instagram or Threads.

So I think this one is a pretty bad move from Elon.

I assess Elon Musk's competency more on technology innovations oriented towards real use, remember that he acquired Twitter out of "compulsion"[1].
So, I don't see Twitter's recent changes as initiatives to beat competing platforms, it's nothing more than random ideas from quick thoughts. For the richest man in the world, losing Twitter's valuation probably won't bankrupt him.

“leveraging the security of the Bitcoin protocol and the speed of the Lightning Network to stream payments.”

Even without the LN implementation, I think bitcoin mainnet is actually more applicable in the EV charging than other businesses, it allows payments to get multiple confirmations before the charging time is complete.
752  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FTX Bitcoin & Derivative Dataset on: July 28, 2023, 12:15:12 AM
Regardless of whether they provide alternative API resources, I don't think you can deny an API going down if it basically fails at the exchange endpoint. Or if you need to, contact the Excchange's core-developers to gain access to the data legally through a webscrap process or something like that.
I think you should take a look at CryptoCompare, they also provide an API for development purposes.
753  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bundle exchange announces their cease of operation on: July 26, 2023, 04:59:17 PM
For those us who don't love login their mails to their current devices they are using, is another bad disadvantages to them as they may miss this updates and ended of losing their funds.
The deadline for sweeping balances is still around 35 days which I think is long enough for all potential customers to be aware of this news. And I see this has been shared everywhere including Nigerian board, quite surprised that this platform isn't popular enough. I think I know the reason why they stopped.
754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A neighbor next door on: July 26, 2023, 04:26:31 PM
Does a drug lord even feel comfortable in his own home or letting his neighbors know he's committing a crime?
Even so, the only way is to teach them professionally, I mean directing material that leads to bitcoin transactions legally. Until that point, bitcoin will no longer be their option.
755  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: P2P trading on binance/wm.exchanger payeer, advcash, perfect money on: July 26, 2023, 03:45:32 PM
If your base country essentially prohibits crypto transactions, then there is no limit on blocking triggers. I think because they slowly recognize your activity patterns in the circle of other binanceP2P traders who may be their customers too.
Likewise the payment processor apps you mentioned can do the same thing, it actually sounds good if Alfa-bank gives you the opportunity to withdraw funds.
756  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: how secured? on: July 26, 2023, 01:56:41 PM
finger lock.
It's a big problem if you enable it also in the wallet settings, indirectly it's like setting the exact same password for the login credentials of all the accounts present on that device.
I remember some crypto wallets that only require biometric authentication to send funds. In an unconscious state (sleeping, drunk or dead), people around you might take advantage of it to dry your wallet.
757  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Changee.com - cryptocurrency exchange service on: July 26, 2023, 01:19:30 PM
Inconsistent offers.
Our goal is to show users from all over the world how to exchange cryptocurrency anonymously,

Changee may share information from the AML/KYC procedure with law enforcement authorities if legally requested.
Wonder how users can go anonymously with these conditions? Or you define differently how anonymity should be.

758  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why Is dirty Bitcoin an Attractive Option for growing money on: July 25, 2023, 02:03:46 PM
Profits look tempting, so what next?
In practice, you're always busy not to get caught. You'd be hard pressed to spend every 40% of your profits on that trade. Your space for movement is getting narrower, your life is isolated.
It's also easier to get you to jail.
759  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where to report fraudulent services? (EU) Blackcatcard is a scam! on: July 25, 2023, 01:46:24 PM
23.4k€ in my account are frozen. They ask me for documents every time. Which I can not have.
What kind of documents they asked? Have you told them your nationality base?

Quote
Who could help me to get my funds out of this scammers blackcatcard?
First, it will require external costs to hire some third party assistance. If you think the amount is worth pursuing, you should first contact local legal counsel.
Be careful of unsolicited offers of help from random people.
760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase wallet has £0 balance but $ is showing as USDT on: July 25, 2023, 06:02:26 AM
The crypto network says I need ETH to activate the tokens,
If you mean you have tried to send your USDT token, yes. But that's a strange request if it's only to display the balance, afaik such a token doesn't need to activated. I have never used this wallet. General tips, always use the latest version.

but this sounds like a con? Anyone have experience of1 this?
If you think so, how did you get the wallet?
