I'd like to see the site log you out after x amount of time of inactivity.
I've rebooted my system several times and have yet to be prompted for a new password when I go to the site.

Sorry ...  Cheesy  I think you have inherited the newbie confusion from me.
I realize I don't have to rely on paypal / 3rd party for any payments. I was confused as to how btc will prevent fraud from happening without the 3rd party clearing house, etc. And as I read more, I got even more confused and thought I'm missing something.

google and anonymous never ever belong in the same sentence.

I totally agree. I'm surprise nothing has been done with the privacy issues on the Google map in US like other foreign country. And just antitrust lawsuit in US; nothing about keeping our searches, how we use internet, etc in their databases.
The USA privacy laws are quite lacking really. Anything viewable from the street is public knowledge. There is no privacy from the street/on the street.
If your windows are open and the world can look inside, you have no right to privacy. I find it quite disturbing how many people in the states just don't care about privacy or even see what the deal is about it.

http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=21659.0 was the answer.  I would look around that thread or some people within that thread for what will be the next solution for this problem.

I am voting for Google to step in with a million percent secure temporary anonymous wallet system.   If you don't mind me, I'll be dreaming now.

746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin will be bigger than The Bible on: June 29, 2011, 04:22:25 AM
Bitcoin is bigger than Jesus!

It's okay, you can say that on this forum.

Bitcoin is an illusion.

so is Jesus

749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trading so slow and flat = boredom on: June 29, 2011, 02:21:55 AM
Both MtGox and Trade Hill are way down in volume right now and the price of BTC is flat for hours.

Makes for a boring day trading.

Seriously, if it's just going to hang out at 17.0 all day, I can find better things to speculate with.  Roll Eyes
We could use some more oil speculators in the market. Tongue
750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: eBay removing Bitcoin listings... on: June 29, 2011, 01:00:24 AM
I see dozens of bitcoin listings now on Ebay...they don't seem to be too consistent in their crackdown.
Are they selling a certificate with the bitcoin? Some people are/were selling bitcoins on ebay with a "certificate" which is shipped
to the buyer.

752  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: AVG claims bitcoin is malware on: June 28, 2011, 07:48:41 AM
I ran avg on a win7 box and it didn't flag bitcoin.
Where did you download your source from?
753  Economy / Economics / Re: Expected return of bitcoin invested in mining on: June 26, 2011, 11:49:25 PM
funny thing is, it seems mining will be more profitable in the winter.  Right now people have to run AC to not heat up their house/room with their mining rigs.  In the winter you could keep the mining rig in the basement and use it to slightly subsidize your heating costs, in addition to not having to run AC.

so we should see difficulty go up during cooler seasons, theoretically.
That's assuming that most of the miners are in the Northern Hermisphere. It's winter time for some right now Tongue
754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: USA EXCHANGE on: June 26, 2011, 06:42:34 PM
I believe tradehill would be what you are looking for.

TradeHill is based out of Chile.

I think campbx is going to be a new one from a thread I just read as well.

Their site says they are a company out of Atlanta.  I don't see any FBN/DBA or company name registered for Camp BX yet but at the same time they aren't yet open so that's no reason to doubt that.

Also,
These are markets (trades occur when there is a match between bids and asks)
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ExchangeBitcoins.com Registered LLC in California
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin2Cash Registered in Alabama

There are other fixed-rate exchanges in the U.S. such as Bitcoin Morpheus:
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Morpheus (apparently Reston, VA)
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Cashout Registered LLC in Florida

You might find a local trader in the U.S.

Yea you are right, I forgot because their bank is BOA in N carolina and they have an office in Oregon. (for USD at least)
So I was thinking they were based in the states.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: USA EXCHANGE on: June 26, 2011, 06:05:17 PM
Is there a USA Exchange for bitcoins yet?

If not how hard would it be to set one up?

Thanks

756  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: mtgox.com = "MySQL error, please retry later" on: June 26, 2011, 04:26:34 PM
You seen the licencing costs on the real thing-Oracle or MS?

Gox's profits of the last 3 months could be blown on a few MS Enterprise licences. Tho Enterprise isn't worth it Wink

MySql can do the job just as well......but only as good as the person who implements it and the models they use.

TBH....DB is old tech, some of the tech currently in development will make traditional relational databases look like a Model T.

Yes, that's valid logic when setting up a website for something like ... your favorite anime movies.

But if you're considering setup of a site that deals with lots of $$$ and has to interface with a large user base ... and needs to be secure ... here's what you do:

1.  Get some investors to fund your project
2.  Spend the money on real database technology

Actually, the above model is true for anything that aims to be even remotely professional.  There is no comparison between MySQL and Oracle.  I've worked with both on a professional level and several others who have gone the way of the dodo (eg., Sybase, Redbrick, etc...) including performance bench-testing them all.

MySQL would have been fine when they were trading a couple of thousand $ per day.  It's not fine anymore.

But you don't have to believe me.  Time will tell the truth beyond the shadow of a doubt.
SQL is perfectly fine for their operation.
Spend the money on someone who knows what the hell they are doing. on hardware and bandwidth.
Everyone else is a fucking idiot saying otherwise at this point and time.
757  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Go Cayman Go (bitminter.com - the sexy way to mint bitcoins) on: June 26, 2011, 04:15:44 PM
ATI 3800's are capable of doing the work as well. Just no one has coded the support for them using stream yet. Opencl no, stream yes.

I might consider supporting 3800s. I even have a 3870x2 lying around. But isn't Stream a deprecated and unsupported technology?

I don't think so since it's required for ATI cards to run any of the mining software currently available.
It must be installed on *nix boxes.
