I find it interesting that bitcoin has won a major cultural victory in getting the term "virtual currency" out there.
But man, it really annoys and pisses me off that all these companies hijacked it and can't even use it right!

Let's say I'm only slightly annoyed that MtGox may be able to see 10 minutes into the future with this lag. Are we trading with pneumatic tubes?

I don't know. I'm hoping today's sellers become buyers if we have a sustained drop. Seems like everyone chasing the same thing leads to crazy volatile markets. Are these price increase really attributed to new people who are here for the long run? I hope so. I really do. I'm sure the sellers are hoping to buy back later, but I think from an individual point of view it's very stupid to dump like that. From a collective, it probably does do us some favors and keeps things from getting out of control. I just doubt they do it "for the good of all of us". And yes, the price is reflective of new demand. |

Things are kind of reaching a fever pitch here. Anyone else scared? Even a bit?
Yes, a bit. The forum is showing that giddy kind of euphoria with lots of swagger and bravado and posts about huge anticipated prices that once often sees at the top in a market. This always get trotted out during gains. I've only been active on these forums for a short weeks (since ~$30-odd), but it seems that it's like clockwork: After every big gain, people get nervous and start calling out irrational exuberance. However, it seems the real irrationality is usually always on the side of the bears. Also, the forums aren't all of bitcoin. We're actually a minority. |

Are you sure it's not the Instawallet/Bitcoin Central coins? This is my thought exactly This is one of my favorite things about bitcoin. It allows you to go sleuthing with pure data. I LOVE IT Weren't they hacked and those coins are now in control of some blackhat hacker? If so, that doesn't bode well. What if he dumps? They're saying that the coins are safe. |

I think the deal with Bitcoin days destroyed is how long it has been since those coins have been moved from one address to another, correct? So the Instawallet coins would only be a couple days old and not have much of an impact on that graph?
It was their cold storage though, implying that most those coins weren't supposed to be moved around all that often. |

The scariest part is the lack of bear-tantrums after 110. Is it possible they've ran out of bear juice? Or maybe they've learned they can't manipulate BTC any longer and have moved onto....scammier pastures... |
