this was done before and they even said the last s-5's they sold were used. Every single miner bitmain sells is "used". I think they roi most (maybe all) of their gear in house before they sell them.

I know this much, the answer isn't as simple as "make blocks bigger". If it were we'd of solved it a while ago.
I do not like the XT or classic fork attempts, to me that is two guys trying to hijack the entire bitcoin network and bring it under their control via a fork.
The answer to the block size problem has not been found yet, but it will be in time, and it will be solved more eloquently than simply proving bigger blocks.
At least price is holding above $400 and not tanking like the last time the block size debate was raging full strength and XT came out.

Looks like the pool size doubled over the weekend, is the new 50TH permanent?
My S5 was back and hashing again as of yesterday.

I wonder where in the development pipeline the automated/once-per-day payment system is? Seems to me like that system would be very beneficial about now and would help alleviate many people's concerns.

Note that cgminer reverts to 4.8 if it reboots....
This is unfortunate, is there no simple way to make it permanent?

Got my tracking info, thanks, Phil. I will post up once I receive the unit and have it hashing. I will triple, maybe quadruple my hashrate before the halving.
This one A6 is going to triple my hashrate.

looks like i missed it. i would have said +4.8
I missed it too. I was busy with a project and forgot to check the forum for a bit. Oh well. I had a last minute trip out of town and also didn't get a pick in this week, but that's ok because looking at the trend the network seems to be dialing back every so slightly and I would have predicted a constant slight up-trend. Most likely still be a positive, but not too drastic.

I don't know, I have always just followed the factory reset instructions in the manual, then installed the latest fw.

I have to shut off my S5 tonight for about 24 hours, but I will be back to help crack this block!

|

I have taken it apart to inspect it and clean it. I did not notice anything out of the ordinary or any damage. The controller is a V1.05 if that helps at all. I do have two S3 units and I can go ahead and swap the boards to see if the problem transfers to the other S3 or if it stays with the first.
Also try a factory reset and reinstall latest firmware, just in case. Sometimes going back to square 0 helps flush some gremlin out of the machine.

I added the front fan duct. I like that it directs most of the air through the heat sinks and just a little to the outsides of the boards, but I found that the api reports a higher temp (temp sensor on outside) even though I'm sure the chip side of the boards is cooler than before since more air is moving past them now. Barely any air was escaping out the tops of the sides, but I could feel it was warmer on the outsides due to the reduced air flow there. (I also added some clear acrylic side panels.) I installed a pull fan but did not include the rear duct because that duct does not let the pull fan pull any of the warm air from the outsides of the boards. With the pull fan (Delta AFB 1212VHE) the unit reports much cooler temps (3-5*C) than without it and the air on the outsides of the boards is much cooler. Basically no air escapes out the top of the sides now, it is all pulled out the back. The pull fan also equalized the temps across both boards, one always read hotter by a couple degrees before. We have a cold front moving through so I spun it around 180 to intake cool air through the dryer duct and blow the warm air into my house.

Phil, your cell number is showing, you may want to edit it out.

And the great state of California wins for most orders! We tie our west coast cousin Oregon for number of units ordered. Thanks for handling this, Phil, can't wait to play with my new toy. I'll pull my psu off my S5 and get my extra 850watt out of the closet, plug them both in, and mess with the A6 when it arrives, but at $0.30/kW-h and up I will be having it hosted for the long-term.
|
|
|
even cheaper from them is their dual 2000W for around 250$ that can power 3 S7
Wouldn't a dual 2000W psu be a 4000W psu? Looked funny at first, you claiming a 2000W psu could power 3600W of miner until I saw "dual" in front.

Well then I'd like to thank them for costing me extra fee to make sure my tx went through speedily... sheesh! I hope they did that by mistake, kinda a bonehead maneuver.

I have never rented hash before and just spent all my coins on the new Avalon6, but I think I could get into renting (gambling essentially). I'll have to let my wallet recoup and then give it a shot.
Seems NH/WH is the most popular, followed by MMR. Do most folk at this pool use NH/WH?

Well guys, as much as I love mining with my one S7 (and this pool is awesome!!) , 14.5 cents per Kw is just too expensive for me to hang in there. It's really fun watching those payments come in, but alas, my little noise maker is now for sale on eBay via a 3 day auction. Well shoot, if I didn't just buy an Avalon6 I would have made you an offer on the S7. I ended up going with the Avalon6 because of how they support kano and ck and cgminer. I want to support companies that support the good guys, and Avalon seems to be just that. I will be pointing it here to kano.is, maybe a couple smaller pools, too, on the side. so to run 4 s7s and 3 s5 plus the rest of my house its 350 a month. Consider yourself lucky, it would cost me just about that much to run 1 S7 from home. I will have my Avalon6 hosted.

I got in on that group buy, too, the price for a new Avalon6 was outstanding and I couldn't pass it up. He's sending the coins very soon, so I think it's too late to get in on this one.
More hash for me, need MOAR!
