741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: July 27, 2016, 09:06:26 PM
What use is the Address,  i don't think ethereum classic have a working block/address explorer.  When i search for my ETC mining address on https://etherscan.io/address it shows as zero balance.... however, my mist browser node/wallet shows a healthy increasing balance.  Cheesy

Any news on the upcoming Classic fork to manage the exponential diff curve time bomb?  That needs to be sorted as we wont be switching to a PoS in January like the Ethereum team planed.  At least i hope we have no plans for PoS.  It would be nice to shift to PoC then anyone could use any computer to mine.
We need a cilent /lite wallet too.  Any news on any of these?

ETC mining is very profitable at the moment. But you have to sell it quick. The price is very volatile.

There are many DDoS on the ETC and ETH pools. Can anybody recommend a pool that has good protection?

744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Sick of hearing about Ethereum ? on: July 25, 2016, 03:57:19 PM
I can't wait for mining to end,... and i mine the retched stuff.  This coin has a real sick history.  And look at the divisions it has caused in the community.

I think about the money i have made sine i hit ROI in April and i ask myself "was it worth it?"

No, it wasn't.  Ethereum is the sick dog of crypto.  We didn't threaten to 51% attack each other before Ethereum came along.

And i dont think its over...  im just waiting to hear about the next big hack
745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum decentralization on: July 25, 2016, 03:44:18 PM
Yes but who will run a node once mining ends?
746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are you mining these days? on: July 25, 2016, 03:38:23 PM
What am I mining these days?

Bitcoin
Pesetacoin
Doge
Viacoin
Umbrella
Greostlcoin

plus I am switching between Feathercoin and Ethereum-forkked (depending on market price)

I'm thinking of adding Burst

Also thinking of mining Peercoin instead of Bitcoin if the price dosen't move soon.

Would love to mine Ethereum Classic but i don't have a Classic wallet.  Roll Eyes

747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 25, 2016, 07:27:57 AM
I got a reply from Tayvano @ MyEtherWallet. Unlike Shapeshift and Poloniex and nanopool, "We are not supporting eth classic"

not even a regards...

I don't understand why people have such blinkered view and abandon etiquette when the world refuses to be the way they want it to be.

Looking forward to Claymore dual miner ETC and ETH  Cheesy

ETC hashrate still climbing though  Shocked

Ethereum Classic is, in my view, a total and absolute scam by any traditional financial definition of the word “scam.”

The only scam is forking away the only reason to have a blockchain and smart contracts, ethf is a centralized shitcoin

keep deleting etc holders posts,lol
i dont know why your trying to delete the fact that etc will need to FORK for dapps to work and prob die when Metropolis comes out.
As a major etc holder im sure i can ask if you plan on forking before the dao hacker receives his coins or after  Tongue

bitpoops self mod forum is the best place for etc...wtf is that the best you guys can do ??
the original devs say they will suport both chains so what makes you think metropolis will suport your side only ? wishful thinking ?

Yer,.. well Chris Ellis, i didn't know he was involved in ethereum.  He is a good bloke, i seen him on the Keiser Report and in the Feathercoin Videos too.  He does what is right and stands by it.  He done loads of work in Africa too.  Didn't he do work on StartCoin/StartJoin?

If only i had a classic wallet, i would switch my hashpower in an instant.

EDIT: Chris Ellis.... Quote:  "I hope to make the world better than I found it".
i wait for that too. and a bunch of friends of mine too.
if anyone has instructions : a etherclassic wallet and how to suport with mining , id apriciate it
you can mine right to a wallet on an exchange...like polinex...at least that what is says on etc.nanopool.org
rent rigs on mrr
point to wallet address
wait to receive some etc
sav or sell etc

Mining to an exchange address is not an option.  Exchanges charge a deposit fee.  As mining involves small but regular payments, the exchange gets a large chunk of my mined coins.  Moreover: i want to control the keys.

@roselee  i emailed  Tay at myetherwallet.com about 3 hours ago about a web based classic wallet...   I will post their answer here

Immutablity drew me in to ethereum.
Again, immutablity is drawing me towards ethereum classic.

What should i do?  Follow my heart or do as i am told?
752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum Classic Light Wallet on: July 25, 2016, 04:22:00 AM
Ethereum Classic Light Wallet?

I mine ETH at eth.nanopool.org with a browser wallet WyEtherWallet.com
I want to mine ETC at etc.nanopool.org but have no Ether Classic Wallet.

I don't wan to mine to an exchange address because they charge for making each deposits and mining means small and frequent deposits.

I was going to post in the Altcoin Mining section but i wanted to open the question of wallets up to all ethereum users, Classic and Bailouts
753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: July 25, 2016, 04:03:19 AM
What is the latest news on the Chinese guy Chandler Guo? He threatened Ethereum classic that he will do a 51% attack on it and even posted a photo of himself with his mining farm. Do you think he will really do it? Isn't more profitable for him to instead mine and earn ETC and ETH side by side? What is his motivation?

I have a feeling that it is possible that he is paid by one of Ethereum Foundation cohorts to wreak havoc on Ethereum classic.

I think that threat came and went already.  His miners are all rented out to cloud miners and from that pic it looks like the algorithm is all wrong anyway. SHA 265 rather than Ethhash
754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: July 25, 2016, 03:53:07 AM
Maybe ETH will win just off the back of wallet availability.  https://www.whattomine.com show ETC is more profitable than ETH at the moment.  But not by much.  I would sooner mine ETC but have no choice other than to mine ETH if i want to make money.

755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: July 25, 2016, 03:30:38 AM
I would love to mine ETC but have no wallet.  I don't want to download the whole blockchain and have ethereum running on my computer again.  I started mining ETH solo to a geth instance way back but ended up mining ETH (up until the fork) at nanopool using a web based wallet MyEtherWallet.com but that is ETH yes?

You can try using a Poloniex deposit address for mining. Normally I would advice against using exchanges as wallets but this shitty blockchain that takes days to sync is getting on my nerves too.

If I mine to an exchange address they will charge me for each deposit.
As I will be pool mining and the payments will be small and frequent, the exchange will take a large chunk.

There needs to be a lite wallet if you want people to support Classic.  Can we get MyEtherWallet.com on board?

I don't want to support ETH and am currently mining at eth.nanopool.org.
I will swap my hashpower to  point at feathercoin until there is a "lite" wallet for ETC... but as soon as this happens I will pool mine ETC 24/7 at etc.nanopol.org  You have my support.
756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: July 25, 2016, 03:18:30 AM
Nanopool opened ETC pool.
Now you can mine Ethereum Classic with us!

http://etc.nanopool.org

Added, I can't vouch for any of the pools, be careful

I can vouch for nanopool.org  They are good people.  That is where i will mine, i have mined there before.

758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 700 MH , Solo or use a Pool (Ethereum) on: July 17, 2016, 12:42:37 PM
Have a bash at solo, I mined 2 blocks in the first 36 hours of mining with only 11Mh/s on just one HD7870, and everyone told me solo with only 11Mh/s was pointless.
10eth in less than a week.  Cheesy  Don't you just love it.

You can always switch to a pool after a week if you don't get lucky.

My best advice for you is..... take advice from people that seem happy, and ignore the miserable miners that moan and complain.  You may not get rich either way but you will enjoy it all the more.

But then i am only a few miles away from "GCHQ Bude" so my connection is the best in the world.

760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: July 17, 2016, 08:18:08 AM
quote:

The lay of the land

Within the decentralized community, there remains disagreement on the path forward, a factor that has given rise to vigilante efforts, most notably the mysterious Robin Hood group.

This group of coders, whose identities are largely unknown as a matter of security, has prepared a two-prong maneuver – or white-hat attack – against the Dark DAO exploiters.

The measure is a safety net of sorts, in case the hard fork, now the only option developers have to regain the funds, fails in any way.

At stake in this epic computer battle between white hats and Dark DAOs is more than investor funds, but potentially the future of a new business model without leaders.

Some, including Jentzsch, are now worried that, should efforts by the community to resolve the situation be unsuccessful, government authorities will step in.
