761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Having no money to invest in Bitcoin is even better on: June 23, 2023, 11:47:23 AM
That's wrong, not everyone who have money are like that, I'm sure of it because we have bitcoin millionaires and not to mention learning is different for each individual, some people don't want to learn because they think already have some level of understanding on how bitcoin works and they see a semblance of it from their other investments so they skip ahead while there are others that wants to learn, I think that this is the better distinction when it comes to two types of bitcoin investor, those who want to learn and those who don't want to.
762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold Bitcoin VS Hold Gold on: June 23, 2023, 09:14:42 AM
I personally both gold and bitcoin , because for me both are equally profitable, with the characteristics they have it challenges me to own and accompany them to their highest point, there is no long debate between gold and btc because both are investments that need to be considered for the future
I don't know if this is a problem in your country but there are some countries that will let you buy gold but never let you hold the one that you've just bought for "security" reasons which is definitely a no-go for me, maybe if I do some research about it though, I can be wrong and might consider hodling a small amount of gold in my possession but for now, I think it's best to hodl bitcoin more than gold because it makes you responsible for your own safety and wealth so no one can steal it from you unless you are dumb enough to be scammed. As long as there are preference, there will always be a debate remember that, and it's a beautiful thing that there are debates about this, it means that people care about their finances and that they want to make a stable financial future.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We All Know, The halving time will be full of drama on: June 23, 2023, 08:14:17 AM
You being a Hero Member should get used to it though, means that you've seen these things happen already so why point it out? I mean there will always be people that's going to spread FUD no matter what happens in the market even if the positivity is through the roof, those people that you're talking about will find the negatives, I remembered an Internet quote about how the optimist invents the planes while the pessimists invents the parachutes, like that quote I think that it's normal for people with varying degree of perspective to exist, life isn't linear. I guess I'll just prepare a lot of popcorn so I can enjoy all the upcoming dramas when it inevitably happens.
764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New to Bitcoin on: June 22, 2023, 11:48:01 AM
@mocacinno is right, you just put a big target on your back by posting your email in a public forum. Also, I assume that you are technology knowledgeable so you should've considered learning about private message in the forum, that way, you can still talk to people and at the same time safely give your email to a person if you think they are trustworthy enough. Pretty cool that you're 64 and knows how to navigate online forums, if you're a real deal then that's pretty awesome. On the other hand though, it's kind of fishy that you give your email away knowing that scammers will use that to get to you, either you are some scammer too that plans to promote something through email correspondence or you plan to send some trojan to the people who will contact you through your email, I hope my suspicion will be proven as nothing but suspicion.

im just learning the teconology of bitcoin and trying to learn with the forum if you can help me please email me at stevenjohnstone@mail.com I dont know how to access forums
If you want to learn about the forum, you can probably have a good time browsing the Beginners & Help board.

Here's the link to that board, just click it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0

Good job OP, 10/10 translation.
767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will World Economic Depression Affect Bitcoin? on: June 21, 2023, 08:09:53 AM
When there is no money to even eat, then you surely know that it will also affect Bitcoin as any other investment. The basic necessities are the most important thing which people need in order to survive and that's what they will prefer in the World Economic Depression, instead of keeping money in a blockchain. It will also affect other investment strategies like Stocks etc. It's not just Bitcoin tbh.
Most economic or financial disasters are rooted in fiat losing its value so I think that bitcoin will be affected in a way that gold is affected like back in Great Depression, gold became more valuable because they want to strengthen the value of dollar since it was pegged in gold at that time, if bitcoin is really an asset then it will go up in value when a downturn happens because just like gold, people will have perceived value on it and people will see it as a hedge to prevent collapse thus causing the value to go up as more people try to get their hands on bitcoin so they can protect their finances.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching Bitcoin is not do or die on: June 21, 2023, 04:47:40 AM
Totally agree with what you said. Teaching Bitcoin to people should not be forced, we must educate them properly and with their will. Do not let us teach about Bitcoin to people who are not even interested in learning about it, because something that is too forced is not good. Especially when someone is reluctant to receive education about Bitcoin it is a loss for them, not us. They ignore something very important and maybe in the future they will regret not learning about Bitcoin from the beginning and maybe they will look to us to ask about Bitcoin in the future.
I think a lot of people agree with that notion, a forced education would only result in having people resist the teaching or not even focus on the information because they don't want to learn it in the first place. I wouldn't say that it's a loss for them but maybe a missed opportunity but can you blame them, if you forced them in the first place to learn then it will only make them more ignorant about bitcoin because the one who forced them to learn set an impression that people who teach about bitcoin are rabid fanatics that want to force feed their ideas and knowledge to people.
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 20, 2023, 07:49:11 AM
I agree with you because childhood is only for age-appropriate learning and playing, not for learning investment or digital smells like this
when they are adults they will naturally find out all the existing technology
Too bad not every parent knows this so they tend to force feed knowledge that's inappropriate for the age of the child not to mention that they're also raising a clone of themselves because they want to see how they would've turned out if they grow up with the knowledge and that's scary because you don't raise a clone when you raise a kid, you're raising an individual and they should be able to choose what they want to do in life be it bad or good, our job as a parent is to keep them safe, bond with them and guide them not brainwash them with our ideals and financial stuff, you don't need to tell it to them, you talk about it indirectly enough and they will eventually catch on.
770  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Question from a newbie - raising $100 in BTC for charity on: June 20, 2023, 01:09:43 AM
If you just doing it for fun while giving service to someone who hires you then you're so kind.

If you are looking for a job or business that looking for someone who can promote or advertise their business why not try the services section you can maybe find someone there who can hire your service. Check the section below and create a new thread that includes your service

That's a good recommendation although I don't think that OP will ever get a job there, he's a newbie and the people posting in the Service board is too picky and fuzzy to hire him unless OP's got an astronomical resume, OP can still try though, maybe someone will give OP a chance. To OP, make sure that when someone hires you, you need to make sure that you get paid especially if the person that hired you isn't a prominent member in the forum, wouldn't want you wasting your work then getting paid nothing.
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you tired of waiting for the jump? Pls Hodl on: June 18, 2023, 04:09:55 AM
When a new investor invests in Bitcoin for the first time, if the market goes down badly, he is deeply worried and broke. But I think investing in Bitcoin definitely requires a fair amount of patience. When a person leaves his funds to buy bitcoins, he may suffer for some time. But investing in Bitcoin requires patience as the market is volatile at times. When the Bitcoin market turns into a bear market, the market goes down drastically. and when it comes to the downside, an investor must hold his bitcoins for a long time. If the Bitcoin market goes down, it will rise again, there is no doubt that the religion of the market is to go up and down. Invest in Bitcoin and wait patiently for ATH. As long as the Bitcoin market turns into a bull market, however, an investor can make good money from that hold.
Patience should be the first virtue that someone should have when it comes to bitcoin, the problem with new investors is that they're overenthusiastic that they end up investing more than what they could afford and end up broke and with the new kind of high that they've got from investing, the reality will not set in until the prices go down and they're investment tanks which at that point ends up with them getting out early to avoid further losses. The bear market should be your sign to accumulate more bitcoin because the price is much cheaper and you get more bitcoin from the fiat you've spent on. But not everyone can afford to hodl for long though, some are just unlucky because they have medical emergency and that they have to make some adjustments and hodling will be one of those adjustments.
772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interested in investing in Bitcoin my childhood friend after losing business on: June 18, 2023, 01:20:44 AM
First of all, are you a certified financial advisor? If not then it's best that you tell your friend about the risk and rewards involved in bitcoin investing, it's for your own safety in case your friend tries to blame you when they experience any losses. Remember that your friend has losses in businesses prior to asking you to invest in bitcoin so keep that in mind that your friend probably wants a fast route to recoup the losses that he's got. Satisfy their curiosity OP but tell them all the negatives, helps them formulate their own decisions, I'm sure your friend will understand that you're warning them about the risk if you talk about the negatives, he/she is a childhood friend after all.
773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without money, the knowledge is a waste on: June 17, 2023, 12:39:15 PM
I have to disagree, you can earn your bitcoin in this forum just by being knowledgeable, remember that there are signature campaigns in this forum and you can join in any of them if you're lucky enough and that they find you knowledgeable enough. Sure, what you're saying OP can be true maybe outside this forum and I do agree with what you're saying, it's the same as theory without practice is nothing. I myself, would probably find a way to make my own money to invest in bitcoin especially if I am knowledgeable, doing work is a good start to start your investment journey. I wouldn't necessarily agree with the title though if we are talking in general sense, knowledge of something is pretty useful.
774  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong Kong to allow banks to accept crypto firms as client on: June 17, 2023, 10:01:27 AM
But I think they may be afraid of getting the same fate as the crypto-supporting banks in the US, maybe they are afraid that the Chinese government will change its attitude towards bitcoin and cryptocurrency in the future and force Hong Kong to ban cryptocurrency.

There could be many reasons, but I expect the most important is regulatory uncertainty, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still at a very early stage in gaining acceptance and full regulation.
They're being taken over by the One China policy so it's not really surprising that they're afraid, China's expediting the expiration date of their independence and we all know how notorious China is when it comes to bitcoin and cryptocurrency, push and pull relationship. I don't think a decade is early stage, there's not a lot of things to learn about bitcoin anymore that hasn't been covered already, and the only thing that needs to happen now is the deployment to test it in state level, to learn something new.
775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Smart Way to Introduce Bitcoin to Relatives, Spouse or Family on: June 17, 2023, 05:10:57 AM
I don't think getting people this long message is a smart way to introduce bitcoin  to people.
One major way to Introunce bjtcoin to relatives is if you're doing well in bitcoin  and maybe if its your major source of earnings as your family and relatives  will only believe  you easily when they're seeing positive results.
So try to improve your life through bitcoin  and make it evident to them and that is one easy way to draw their attention.
Telling them about it because your prospering from the profits, wouldn't that give a wrong impression to your relatives that investing is easy and that they're not going to experience any losses. I think that the long and boring way is the right way to introduce bitcoin, if people didn't care to read the whitepaper early on, we wouldn't have bitcoin like it is right now.
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A portion of my clothing store's weekly profit is invested in Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 08:05:23 AM
Only problem that I can think of is that you might be prone to emotional outburst and can cause you to panic sell or something, not to mention that your store was hit in economic terms and you didn't mention any other streams of income, it might sound crazy to you but remember that you might experience financial hardships because you are investing weekly portions of the profit and with the current market, it's not really a good time to get it out in case you need a lot of money, you will be losing a lot. Maybe take a break from that routine or make it twice a week or once a month until you secure another stream of income so you don't have to worry in case there's a bad day for your shop.
777  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [warning] Fake Private-note -- pirvnota.com on: June 15, 2023, 06:50:16 AM
Make sure that you are using the right site for this.  These type of websites that encrypt your notes to is subject to investigation or exercised caution. If they have some kind of filtering, they could really access your notes and manipulate your content inside.

I think it’s a common thing to see that there are mistakes on the name of the website. Immediately that should be an indicator that it exist.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I think that you need to download something from that website before they can access your device from inside out, visiting a website is just cookies right but downloading something is different right? Still scary though these copycat website, they benefit from confusion and they've been doing this for a long time even before bitcoin, and they still get victims. Website names don't havw mistakes, the scammer can't use the real website name so they bank on the fact that someone misspells the legitimate website, the mistake in the name of the fake website isn't a mistake, they try to buy the name that's most likely to be result of misspelling.
778  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's your favorite crypto;Bitcoin on: June 14, 2023, 05:39:16 AM
If you ask such a question in a Bitcoin forum, Of course, the majority of the forum member will say their favorite crypto is Bitcoin. It's not like they don't own altcoins. Most of us own altcoins and we use them for various purposes. But, when it comes to my favorite crypto, It's Bitcoin. There is a reason behind it. Bitcoin is the crypto that people trust because of its decentralization. No one will be able to manipulate the market by increasing the supply (Whales can do it by buying or selling a huge amount). Bitcoin price will increase over time. If people understand the concept of Bitcoin, they won't say they like some other coins except for Bitcoin.
Totally, only time that someone would probably say that their favorite crypto besides bitcoin is when they created their own crypto, there's a possibility too that they might even say that they still have bitcoin as their top 1 even if they created their own coin but highly unlikely. Isn't it contradictory that you've said that no one can manipulate the market and at the same time mention whales, these people can literally make waves to the market and in my book, that's market manipulation. Don't discount the fact that no one will have any other answer besides bitcoin, there are outliers out there that might surprise you.
779  Economy / Reputation / Re: The whole reputation system is pure garbage on: June 14, 2023, 02:58:50 AM

Logically, when the police arrest someone, they must be accompanied by strong evidence, not based on wanting to show that authority is in their hands or the rank that is on their shoulders. DT members don't have any arrogance or personal grudges when sticking someone's butt with red paint, they work according to the rules that apply in the forum.
Really? All the police have an evidence first before arresting someone? Wow, so the cases of planted evidence isn't real? That analogy isn't really helpful if you're defending or on the side of the DT members because it implies that they can give someone red trust with impunity.
~
I'm not talking about removing feedbacks left by inactive members, most of it remain to be legit and valid. But there is some cases feedbacks become wrong. Let's say user receive negative trust for not returning loan. And after some time user who left him feedback dies or simply become inactive. User repays loan, but he still can't get rid of red trust. Offcourse, it would be wrong to remove all feedbacks left by inactive member or remove him from DT because all other his feebacks remains legit. For now such issue doesn't happens often, but eventually it will become more frequent.
You literally have the word "removed" in the reply that I've quoted, what do you mean you're not talking about removing feedbacks from inactive members. Loan defaulting is another case though, I think that there's should never be a removal even if they've paid their defaulted loan, maybe just changing it to neutral to indicate that this person has defaulted a loan but have paid it eventually. Even if it's not removed, pretty sure other DT members can step in to leave a neutral trust so as to help them clarify the information about why there's still a red trust.
780  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Gambling is different from trading on: June 13, 2023, 08:05:42 AM
There is big difference and it starts right from their spellings and meanings.  Wink
The statement may sound too obvious and on the nose but @Flexystar is right, semantics and definitions matter.

Gambling focuses more on probability and chances while trading is more on speculation rooted on analysis and research on market trends. Another difference is that gambling is reliant on luck although I would consider poker and blackjack as sort of an exception to this rule given that there's skills involved like card counting and bluffing, while in trading, you need to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and experience to make some profit, it won't guarantee a win but you have more chances of making money in trading than gambling anyways. I think the reason why people confuse gambling and trading so much is the fact that both carry inherent risk (the only similarity imo) and a lot of people use the word gamble/gambling more than just its meaning in other aspects of life to make their statements profound in nature and now here we are debating whether they are similar or not when the answers been given to all of us a long time ago.
