7601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacking,hacked,lost everywhere?!!!! on: February 24, 2015, 10:34:14 AM
there is a complete "List of Major Bitcoin Heists, Thefts, Hacks, Scams, and Losses" which i found in my bookmarks. it is kind of a history book on bitcoin
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576337.0

Quite confusing. They converted the actual BTC to January 2014 BTC?

For example, Stefan Thomas lost BTC7,000 and the loss is listed as BTC163 in January 2014 BTC.
It is most probably based on price. The price at the time of hack is lower than the price now. It is converted from USD to BTC instead of using just actual BTC stolen since it would be a slightly smaller hack then than now.
7602  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin investment ? Cloud mining ? on: February 24, 2015, 10:31:25 AM
if you want to earn profit from you investment then stay away from ponzi or cloud mining sites
and if you want to loose money then invest in ponzi or cloud mining site
Not all cloudmining sites are ponzis.
True, but cloud mining would not be profitable at all even if they are legit. If it can really profit, why don't the owners mine it for themselves and profit more?
7603  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cavirtex exchange shutdown after being hacked on: February 24, 2015, 09:43:11 AM
that makes no sense, if there was no loss why did they not simply fix the security breach by migrating to a new DB, reset password etc.?

VERY fishy  Huh
If they get hacked, most users would lose trust in them and leave them. They probably think that they have no confidence of holding onto user's private information. If they are insolvent, they shouldn't be able to refund all the users.
No, I don't swallow that. Lots of places were hacked temporarily (btce poloniex stamp and others) and they fixed the issues and moved on. It must have been a breach so severe they did not dare to keep going (which is almost unthinkable), OR, it was not a hack at all but a visit from the men in black

like this email service in the Snowden affair http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavabit

sure enough government bullies love systems that hold centralized private keys like banks or Lavabit  Angry
Those hack are less severe with no user data or one or two due to poor security by the user. Even though bitstamp and poloniex lost a lot of Bitcoins, no user data was compromised, only Bitcoins were lost. They can easily fix this and cover the hacked amount easily given their trade volume. A database leak is obviously very severe compared to Bitcoin loss which is recoverable. Once user data are seen by others, the privacy of the user would be breached. Cavirtex probably didn't have confidence to hold user's fund and personal information after that hack even if they fix it.
7604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can Bitcoin fail? on: February 23, 2015, 04:00:51 PM
I think the only way Bitcoin fails is if development just outright stops and people stop using it

Well the last part is pretty obvious but I think we have to look at the reasons why people would stop using it. Will something better come along? Will the price crashing to next to zero cause people to flee? Will an error or bug be found? Will governments ban or heavily regulate it to the point of breaking? Personally the biggest threat to bitcoin is a better successor arriving in my opinion. That could cause it to collapse very quickly imo.
The government part is not very logical. It is very hard or probably impossible for governments to regulate it tightly. They may be able to regulate exchanges but real life exchanges will still take place. Banning bitcoin completely is not possible unless the whole internet is shut down.
The only way for Bitcoin to fail is for everyone to delete their copy of blockchain or simply don't relay it to other nodes. This can only destroy Bitcoin if every single node dies. If there is 100 nodes with up to date blockchain, Bitcoin will not die.
7605  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to buy Bitcoins with PayPal? on: February 23, 2015, 03:51:18 PM
Due to the huge risk incurred with PayPal payments, they aren't usually accepted and even if they are, fees are very steep. There might be people looking to exchange BTC to PayPal at the currency exchange section. You may need higher reputation to provide assurance to the seller that you won't chargeback.
7606  Economy / Digital goods / Re: ★★★Hitleap shop★★★ [LOW PRICES] on: February 23, 2015, 03:48:29 PM
Can i offer one account with 10k minutes ?
You can ORDER custom accounts but I would charge a tiny bit more for that and it may take some time (1day-5days). I don't buy accounts.

what do you mean by minutes ? and what is the use of these minutes ? as long as i know hitleep provide fake traffic  Huh
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=what+is+hitleap+minute. Really, how hard was that. Minutes can be used to generate traffic. Hitleap is a traffic exchange running on computers and people are running them. There are plenty of paid to promote sites accepting hitleap views.
7607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting paid for signature space? on: February 23, 2015, 01:54:26 PM
Just a guess, with more experience with Bitcoin as a whole or the forum, hero member would more likely be able to post more constructively than Sr members and contributing more to different threads. If the member is experienced, they would most likely look at his signature and perhaps go to the website.
Do you really think there is that much difference in terms of experience and constructive posting between Sr. Member and Hero Member? I think both types of users are experienced enough to know the etiquette of the forum and both have reasonable experience in bitcoin/altcoins to add constructively to the discussion. Of course there will be always people who don't, no matter at which level of activity they are.
I believe that people who run signature campaigns share my opinion, as if we look at the reward difference between these two levels, it is about 20% vs. the requirement of nearly double the activity to be promoted from Sr. to Hero level.
It is just a guess Sad. However, Sr member rank requires less posts and less activity to obtain. If one has more activity and post, it would signify that they have read a good amount of topics to be making good posts.(Of course account can be bought but let's take that out of this equation first.) Other than this, most people would trust a Hero member more than a Sr member. I believe more people would click on a link in a signature of a Hero member than sr member. Also, hero member's signature looks much smoother than a sr member's one.
7608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to invest on: February 23, 2015, 11:25:52 AM
True, but risk can be migrated very easily for gambling site and ponzi scheme. We can simply choose a gambling casino which is reputable and be wary of deals that sound too good to be true. For trading, most coins are not stable at all and will crash at any moment.
-snip- no to mention gambling sites an ponzi - better keep away from that) and altcoins (huge volatility is incorporated, dev may disappear at any time).
Most of the time, if bankroll is proven, they wouldn't be a ponzi. If they lose money, it would probably be a vulnerability or Insider's job. There are also plenty of trusted gambling sites for you to choose from.
7609  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Best & Secure Android Wallet for ANDROID on: February 23, 2015, 10:53:58 AM
Personally i reccomended blockchain.info since it's offer access for many devices & have good security
But, if you need very good security. Then try Bitcoin Wallet / Mycelium, both of them have good security & very trusted too

My suggestion, don't use wallet which controlled by third party like coinbase
Blockchain.info doesn't have great security. The history of hacks at Blockchain.info is uncountable. If you value your coins more than convenience, use myceilum or Bitcoin Wallet.
7610  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to invest on: February 23, 2015, 10:45:55 AM
I think you should invest on stellar, because its value is more fluctuating and more you can earn from it if you trade with STR. If you dont know what is str you can read it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=719019.0
you just told him to put 500k euro into a currency that could go 100% - tomorrow ?

Its like a trading not 100% sure that he will make double the amount he invested but he can earn some profit by trading with str
Trading does involved risk, a volatile coins may go to the moon or crash down. You can't guarantee profit by any form of trading as all of them carry risks.

Every thing carry risk, there are gambling sites, ponzi scam site, We should risk our money if you want to earn big.

Keep posting on here, build up a good account and contribute some posts in various threads here on these forums.  There are some decent add campaigns.  I can get .035 per week so after about 4 months you could reach the .5 goal.  good luck to you.
It is also risky, signature campaigns might be banned or signature campaigns may have their pay lowered. If you want to reach the max payment per week, you have to post 7-8 post per day which is quite hard.
7612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacking,hacked,lost everywhere?!!!! on: February 23, 2015, 10:37:00 AM
People are protecting their money with their FaceBook passwords. Nothing mysterious about it.
This plus most of the hacking incidents are the same owners of the exchanges bailing out and running with the money.
Hmm not really. This isn't a good statement unless proven. I doubt the owners of mt gox and Bter is the same. They may very well be inside employees or perhaps an actual hack.
7613  Other / Meta / Re: How to gain trust? on: February 22, 2015, 10:33:37 PM
The only way to build legit trust is to do legit deals.

If you want people to trust you  on here you need to be an honest no bs trader.

the trust counter it is easily to circumvent!!!

if a person has 100 accounts,
can distort the trust very easily and
 without spend 1 btc!!!

i hope in the new forum release the trust function will be better implemented...
Bullshit, new accounts are not usually on the trust list. Even if you spam a thousand, none of them will be counted as trusted feedback. Useless unless the person looking at your trust is an idiot. Even if you spend money and buy an account from default trust, it will be detected quickly and you will be removed from default trust.
7614  Other / Meta / Re: Bipolarbob on: February 22, 2015, 03:13:09 PM

Let me correct you, 'BiPolarBob gives money to people for free'.

   -MZ

Then why i did not get paid from his legacy  Grin Grin At least,  Secondly I don't know him before this thread lol
Well, you gotta be alert to catch his super fast promotions. It's a surprise you still don't know about him since he does it so often. I know it because he sent me 0.25 randomly some time ago. Was a shock for me though, never seen anyone so generous.
7615  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is bitcoin anonymous? on: February 22, 2015, 01:37:58 PM
The problem is as a wallet address is associated to a person everything you've done and are yet to do can be traced. There are ways to regain anonymity but it wont be easy for the average user. I don't see this as a real problem today but in the future when this information is easily accessible companies will use your personal private information against you. There have been situations like this already; Target for example found out a mans young daughter was pregnant due to her buying patterns matching those of a pregnant woman before he even knew.

Unless a solution to these situations is found this could become a real problem. I can see it effecting insurance to mortgage rates and a multitude of other things.
The example is not applicable for Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin address are generated for every new transaction, no one can specifically trace it to a single entity accurately as they may as well as been spent before by other's. If you don't tell everyone about your address online and use a new address for every transaction, no one will know who are you. Bitcoin isn't meant to be fully anonymous in the first place.
7616  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is this roughly how Bitcoin works? on: February 22, 2015, 01:34:42 PM
I spent hours trying to get my laptop to mine bitcoins to find out it was to old and not fast enough.  Along the way I did learn alot about mining and hash rate it became clear you would have to spend alot of money on a rig to make it worth it.  Since I started using faucets they are free and you can earn alot of bitcoins even more if you share them with others!
You have to buy much much more than one high performance ASIC machines to profit. Faucets generally pays very low amounts even if you have referrals.
7617  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie! Member trust and feedback? on: February 22, 2015, 01:32:51 PM
Scroll to the bottom and you can see a place for trust review. Since trust list is different for everyone as they can modify it, even if you are from default trust, you may not appear in the trusted feedback if people choose to exclude default trust. People can also modify it such that one not from the default trust list will appear in the trusted feedback for themselves only. Don't rely on the trust function too much, it can be inaccurate sometimes due to trust abuse.

Bump, offer still available
7619  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin investment ? Cloud mining ? on: February 22, 2015, 12:31:05 PM
never ever invest in cloud mining , its just another big big ponzi. you wont ever profit from it.
Don't assume every single cloud mining service as a ponzi, there are some legit ponzis which are proven to be mining on actual hardwares and paying using it. Most wouldn't roi however.
