7601  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I Escrow If I Want To Sell? on: September 14, 2013, 11:50:56 PM
So, let's say I want to sell something on one of the trade sub forums here on bitcointalk.

Do most people use escrow when purchasing something?

Also, when it comes to selling something yourself, if it's an item that say, only has a one time use like a code or something of that nature, is it normal to request payment first before sending such a code?

It depends on many factors such as reputation of trading partner and item's value. For example if you are dealing with a long-standing member with an item of minimal value you may not want to escrow, but if you're dealing with a new member for an item of high value you probably would.

I disagree. If the item is not going to be worth much with paying fees for the escrow, then I agree. However, if you still earn a profit then I would always use escrow. Maybe ask buyer to pay for escrow as a lot of sellers do. Small amount of Bitcoin today could be worth a lot more in the future.

http://www.pinballcoin.com/betdetails?betid=10256 - this one been saying pending for ages

whats the deal?

At the start the site did work. I stumbled upon it being updated with the owner tweaking a few things a couple of weeks ago. Ever since people have been saying they haven't received anything. Hopefully it's just a technical error.

If you consider lowing your price by quite a lot, then maybe someone will be interested.

I believe you have the highest rating on Bitmit, if not one of the top rated users.
7607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I Escrow If I Want To Sell? on: September 14, 2013, 10:52:00 PM
Yes, even if the person you are dealing with is considered "trustworthy". This protects buyers and sellers.

John K, is the one to look for. But, there are many people to do it with. Or you could just use Bitmit etc.
7608  Other / Off-topic / Re: How Many BTC Have You Made From "Free BTC" Type Sites? on: September 14, 2013, 10:48:29 PM
I've made 0.7BTC so far. I've made over 0.3BTC in my first month on CoinChat.

Teach us how? Please. Did you spam or something? I have been chatting for awhile and haven't got anything worth mentioning.

Also, quit trying people to click your referral link.

Linux I find much more friendly to me. Windows can be too limiting. However, I use both OS for different purposes.

7613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Online Wallet? on: September 05, 2013, 08:30:47 PM
I think that's a bit of an oxymoron. No online wallet is good in my honest opinion. They have all been hacked and it could happen again. Stay away from them if at all possible. It's just not work the risk involved.

Download a local wallet and be safe dude. You'll be glad you did.

Most hacks are people's faults:
- bad passwords
- unsafe passwords
- phishing
- no double authen ON.

You need to use basics safety measure when deal with money online.

Also, people downloading files from the internet which they are not sure about. That's why, a offline wallet is always best. No online wallets, no other 'owner' of your wallet. You manage your money, the way it should be.

7618  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I just found that 4hr isn't easy... on: September 03, 2013, 08:15:41 PM
Don't open a new thread every 5 minutes. Only open a thread if it's something which you can't information on or you want to introduce yourself. Opening a new thread every 5 minutes which you wouldn't normally could cause a big deal of spam.
7619  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies | Private Messages on: September 02, 2013, 02:54:08 PM
Every newbie can send private messages. I don't think there is any forum available which is not allow newbies to send PM.

Because of the amount of scams involved with Bitcoin. There is a lot of phishing sites and other sorts of content which has caught a lot of people out. Mostly from bots/people spamming in pm's. Even though this is still possible, it has reduced the amount.
7620  Other / Off-topic / Re: Obama says he got a new dog, Bitcoin value rises to new heights on: September 02, 2013, 02:40:05 PM
I like it. There's so many of these threads going around with totally unrelated topics.
